00:00Did the Secret Service drop the ball? That's the big question. Well, joining me now is
00:04Barry Donatio, a former U.S. Secret Service agent. Very good to have you with us. So look,
00:10hat is off to all of those agents who were there inside the ballroom. Certainly, they just sprang
00:15right into action. I'm wondering, is the issue the Secret Service or is it the security zones
00:21that were around the event? Thanks for having me, Todd. And the issue is political violence
00:28and ideology. That is the issue. Because without that, we wouldn't have incidents like this. The
00:35Secret Service is there to protect an event, protect the president. And when you have a sick ideology
00:40of taking out a president because you disagree with him, that is the ultimate problem. The
00:45Secret Service did its job to the fullest. Their textbook deployment onto the stage, along with
00:52elements of the counter-assault team. I would not want to go up against those guys with the rifles.
00:57And you could see why they were in your video. They did everything textbook, right by the rules.
01:02Strict Secret Service protocol. They got the president down first. Then somebody made the
01:07call to get him off the stage, which is what they did. The president stumbled. They got him up,
01:13which is to be expected in a situation like this. And they got the job done. The checkpoint also
01:19stopped the lunatic with a rifle coming in, even after getting shot. So they are all heroes in my book.
01:25And even President Trump agrees with my statement.
01:30I mean, we're hearing from a lot of folks, including conservatives. Carrie Lake was just
01:34on the show. And folks said that security to them seemed a little lax. What were they seeing that
01:42perhaps we are not?
01:45Yeah, I don't know. I guess she would have to elaborate on that. I had worked at the Hilton
01:49while I was in the Secret Service for events as well. I can tell you when they're doing events
01:54there, it is locked down just like airport security going through magnetometers, hand-warned
01:59magnetometers as well. There's no shortage of Secret Service agents, officers, law enforcement.
02:05They even had military police there, which is something we never had when I was on duty with
02:10the Secret Service. They never supplemented us. So that's a new thing. It's a good thing, too.
02:15So I don't know exactly what they're talking about other than I've heard that the Secret
02:22Service didn't check IDs. I heard that's being reported. That's not their job. Their job is to
02:27make the event safe and secure and make sure nobody has any weapons getting in.
02:33Well, again, all of this happening, and one thing is for certain right now, Barry, not a single one of
02:39those guys putting their lives on the line on Saturday were getting a paycheck. This is over 70 days,
02:44and they're still not being paid. Yeah, and that's unfortunate. I'm not certain if they're
02:51not necessarily getting paid. I haven't experienced that when I was in the Secret Service. If they're
02:57telling you that, then I would believe that. But that job there is not a job that they're doing for
03:03the money anyway. Everybody there is doing that job because they love their country. They love the job.
03:09They love serving the people of the United States. And regardless of a paycheck, including myself,
03:15I would put my life on the line for free for that position for the brothers and sisters that I
03:20served
03:21with in the Secret Service as well and the president. All right. Well, Barry, we're going to have to leave
03:27it there. Appreciate your analysis. Barry Denadio, thank you. And stay with us.
