00:00Star Citizen Alpha 4.8 is entering PTU phase after some time in the evil caddy, and as
00:05more and more players are going to try the new patch, I wanted to make a list of issues
00:09encountered in Alpha 4.7 that I hope we aren't going to see in 4.8 again.
00:15I will therefore make sure to send the link to all of the issue council reports and hope
00:19to gather as many contributions as possible so that hopefully some of these will be fixed
00:23in the next main alpha release of Star Citizen.
00:30First let's talk about 4.7.2 new missions which are not showing.
00:35I was so hyped to see that Korea missions were scheduled to make their return with Alpha 4.7.2.
00:41To me, Korea missions are some of the most chill missions they are in the verse and I love the
00:46fact that they often take us to places we otherwise never visited in the game.
00:50However, as soon as 4.7.2 went live and I tried the patch, I was disappointed to see that
00:56there
00:56were no new missions.
00:58Niku on X confirmed that it was indeed a bug and other developers have been notified.
01:03Hopefully, we will be able to take these missions when the new update comes.
01:09Next let's talk about NPCs that are not spawning.
01:12It's unbelievable but after all these years, there are still missions that fail because
01:16NPCs fail to show up when they are supposed to.
01:19This happens in the mercenary and bounty hunting missions usually in bunkers but also in exterior
01:25settings like derelict outposts.
01:27This is fortunately not a situation that happens all the time and it's usually due to shards
01:32that degrade over time but that being said, it's about time CIG finds a solution to prevent
01:37this from happening for good because as time goes by, we are ever getting closer to the 1.0
01:42level release and when that happens such a situation will truly become unacceptable.

01:49Missions not completing when they should.
01:52This leads me to the next point.
01:54Missions that fail to complete when they should.
01:57There is nothing more frustrating than completing a mission only to then realize that nothing happens
02:01at all.
02:02You don't get paid, you don't get any rewards like blueprints and the missions just show
02:06in the mobi class with the objectives complete but what should trigger its completion does not
02:11trigger it.
02:12This is happening with cargo hauling missions, it's also happening with some animal hunting
02:16missions like the missions that make you kill some marrocks.
02:19Apparently the issue has been going on for years so it would be nice if CIG could provide
02:24it with an explanation about why this issue takes so long to fix.

02:31Jump points not working Another aspect here that needs the attention
02:36of the developers are jump points that fail to register the jump of the players.
02:40I have experienced it myself and so have many people in the community.
02:44You perform a perfect jump in the tunnel, the light changes, indicating that you enter the
02:50next system, yet when you leave the wormhole you end up back in your system of all.
02:55Of course the whole process consumed some of your quantum fuel, which makes it all the
02:59more painful because it means you will have to spend some additional time to refuel.
03:04This is usually a shard issue, if you can manage to change regions it may work but of course
03:09we should expect it to work all the time.
03:12When this happens it would be nice if CIG could find a way to refund the quantum fuel as well.
03:19Next, let's talk a little bit about 30Ks and instability.
03:23This is something which Star Citizen Alpha 4.7 seems to have brought back here, 30K errors.
03:32In the past, these were rather common as they appeared when a server would just crash, sending
03:38everyone back to the main menu.
03:40And it will also make everyone lose their progress.
03:43CIG have since then made sure that people's ships would be sent back to their hangars with
03:47their cargo inside, which mitigated the main issue.
03:51With the introduction of statting server meshing with Alpha 4.0, 30K errors have become rather
03:56uncommon, a rare occurrence that would only happen if the shard itself and not the server
04:02would crash.
04:03Well, it seems that something does make shards crash in Alpha 4.7.
04:08We know that CIG are working on instances and semi-dynamic server meshing.
04:12Could it be some backend evolution that might have added the causes of these issues?
04:17At this time, we don't know what is the cause of these errors but hopefully it's something
04:21that they have identified and fixed for the next update.
04:26In the next genre, is the next issue I would like to talk about and it's even more frustrating
04:31and that is, ah, good old desync.
04:40To CIG's credit, desync isn't happening as much as it did in the past with NPCs, meaning
04:45that you no longer seem to be shooting some NPCs, well you actually aren't according to
04:50the game, and at least here, that is not something that has happened to me in 4.7.
04:55I have noticed a lot of desync with the actual game world, though especially around asteroid
05:01clusters, where you are supposed to go somewhere and when you reach your mission marker, the
05:06mission actually is taking place 2km away from you, or even worse, when you think that
05:10there is nothing in front of you, but the base you are supposed to infiltrate is actually
05:14there, which makes you die seemingly for no reason.
05:18On your screen, it looks like you did, but according to the server, you crashed against
05:22the asteroid.
05:24It's extremely annoying and may make you lose a lot of progress and CIG definitely needs
05:29to do something about this.
05:34Probably linked to desync is another issue here and that is when you fall through the
05:38surface of a planet.
05:40That too is unbelievable that it still happens after all these years, I remember when the
05:45pyro system was released, falling through the planets was a common issue, but then it eventually
05:50slowly went away.
05:52Now, however, it seems to be happening when you get a random disconnection and get back
05:57to your shot.
05:58Instead of being back where you were, you start over under the planet surface and you keep
06:03on falling until you die.
06:05This has also happened when I bedlogged on the planet surface with a prospector full of
06:10valuable unrefined ore.
06:12When I returned to the game, I spawned under the planet surface with no way of returning
06:17above.
06:18I think that CIG should implement a reset key here so that your character could be reset in
06:23a safe position whenever it gets stuck.
06:25This would be practical not just when you fall under a planet surface but also when you get
06:30stuck in a container or a wall.
06:34Number 8.
06:36Unmineable rocks There used to be a time when mining with ships
06:39was extremely frustrating because the game would not let you scan the rocks you'd find.
06:44While this issue seems to have been fixed for ship mining, it appears to have appeared
06:48with ground vehicle mining.
06:50There have been times when I went mining especially on Microtech looking for Dolevine which is useful
06:55for crafting.
06:56My advice here when this happens would be to change planets.
07:01It's frustrating because finding the right type of rock is already hard enough and I hope
07:04that CIG will look into that sooner than later.
07:10Number 9.
07:11No atmosphere in some ships It often happens in the game that we have to
07:15take our helmets off, to drink or eat for example, or to take a picture or even film a movie.
07:21Everything is fine and then all of the sudden, out of nowhere, our character starts to
07:25choke and die.
07:27It seems that in some ships, there are areas that do not have atmospheres in places where
07:32they should have one.
07:33This happened to me a lot in the Starfarer, in the C2 as well as in the Pisces.
07:37And I understand that it could be happening if you open your ship's door in an environment
07:41that doesn't have a breathable atmosphere but it should not happen in your personal hangar.
07:47Working ship atmospheres is something that was released early this year and obviously
07:51CIG still has work to do to optimize the future.
07:57Last but not least, how could we not talk about ship spawning issues?
08:01While these are not as common as they used to be, credit to CIG here, they still sometimes
08:06occur, especially on space stations.
08:09There have been quite a few cases when I've been calling a ship only to be told that the
08:13service was not accessible at the time, meaning that I was stranded in that station.
08:18Usually the best way to fix this is to exit to menu and then get back into the game via
08:22another shard.
08:24But in addition, I've also been confronted to situations in which my ship was immediately
08:28destroyed as soon as it spawned.
08:30Luckily this too happens far less than it did in the past but it's still a reality and the
08:35developers must continue to work on these issues.
08:40So to wrap things up here, Alpha 4.7 has been a mixed experience.
08:45On one hand, it clearly shows how far CIG has come, especially with the foundations laid
08:49by a server machine and the overall stability improvements that we've seen over the past
08:53years, but on the other hand it also highlights a series of long-standing issues that continue
08:58to disrupt what is otherwise an incredibly immersive experience.
09:02As 4.8 enters BTU and more players jump in, this is a perfect moment for the community
09:07to come together, report these problems and make sure that they are seen.
09:12The issue council remains one of the most powerful tools we have to shape the development
09:16of Star Citizen and the more visibility these issues get, the higher the chances they will
09:21be addressed.
