⛏️ Star Citizen Rockbreaker Review – Worth It or a Complete Waste of Time? (Alpha 4.7)
Is the new Rockbreaker dungeon in Star Citizen Alpha 4.7 actually worth your time… or should you skip it entirely?
In this video, I take you inside the brand-new Rockbreaker activity introduced in March and break down everything you need to know before investing your time—and your credits. After running it with the Erad Club, I’m giving you a full, honest review of its rewards, risks, and overall value.
Rockbreaker promises high-risk, team-based gameplay with access to rare resources like Savrilium, a valuable ore found in the Nyx system, used for crafting armor sets like Monde and Palatino, as well as weapons such as the P8 and R97 shotgun. On paper, this sounds like one of the most exciting gameplay loops in Star Citizen.
But does it actually deliver?
We’ll cover:
• The real quality of Savrilium ore found inside Rockbreaker
• Why the lack of resource variety (no Lindinium!) is a major issue
• The 800,000+ credit entry fee and whether it’s worth the risk
• Why profitability is currently questionable
• The impact of no player-driven marketplace on your earnings
• And what CIG needs to fix to make Rockbreaker truly worth it
Right now, Rockbreaker feels like a missed opportunity. The concept is strong, but the execution falls short where it matters most: rewards, balance, and long-term value.
That said, this is Star Citizen. Systems evolve, gameplay improves, and features get refined over time. With a few key changes—better ore quality, more material diversity like Lindinium, and a proper trading system—Rockbreaker could become one of the best activities in the game.
🚀 So what do you think?
Is Rockbreaker worth running, or are you skipping it for now? Let me know in the comments!

00:00Is Star Citizen's Rock Breaker Dungeon worthy of your time?
00:03I already had doubts before doing it for the first time today with my friends at the
00:08Iraq club and I can now say that it is not and I will tell you why.
00:16So, Rock Breaker is this new activity that came with Star Citizen Alpha 4.7 in the month of March
00:22and it's basically what you'd call a dungeon which, if you complete it, is going to give you
00:27access to one location which will be filled with a little more than 40 SCU of Subrayalium,
00:33which is a very rare kind of ore that you will find in a NIC system only.
00:38You can find it also in the system's asteroid belt but on very rare occasions,
00:43so if you are looking for this ore in particular, you might indeed be contemplating taking parts in
00:49this activity. Subrayalium is, of course, usable for crafting, especially for Mondae and Palatino
00:57armor sets as well as some weapons like the P8 and the R97 shotgun.
01:04As far as I'm concerned, I don't like either armor sets, which I don't find visually compelling to say
01:11the least. I have never found much use for shotguns in the verse and I have always considered the P8
01:17to
01:17be one of the least effective weapons in the game. So, if you have a similar opinion already,
01:24you are not going to be very interested in Rock Breaker for crafting materials.
01:29But maybe you are an entrepreneur and you see possible business opportunities with the materials
01:36that can be found in the giant rock, so you think you could acquire them and sell them to other
01:41players
01:42who might be interested in them without having to bother doing the activity. Unfortunately, you will
01:49be disappointed by the quality of the ore too. Out of all of the ore that we found, there was
01:55only
01:55one rock that had the quality in the high 700s, most of them being in the low 700s and some
02:01not even
02:02reaching the 700 threshold. Basically, you are spending so much effort for rocks that you could
02:08randomly find on your own in the local asteroid belts at a very slow rate for sure, but they can
02:15still be found.
02:17I think that CIG missed the mark here and that there should be at least a guaranteed rock with
02:23the quality of 800 or above to make it worth your while. In addition, the fact that Severnium is the
02:30main ore that can be found there with the addition of some Torite is also disappointing. A lot of
02:36desirable craftable items need Lindinium, another rare ore that can only be found in the NIC system.
02:43Lindinium is useful for crafting some armor like the Artimex or the Avis armor sets, but it is
02:49especially useful for weapons such as the F-55 or the Pulverizer. Personally, I would be much more
02:56interested in the activity if CIG could offer a more varied mix of ores that could be found in
03:02these big breakable asteroids. That way, the studio could create more crafting opportunities for players,
03:08because the choice of what's craftable with what can be found over there is too limited in my eyes.
03:16Last, let's talk about the fee, and in this video I will focus on the exclusive contract which,
03:21in theory, should prevent other players from interfering in your affairs if you select it.
03:27The entry fee is above 800,000 credits. That is a lot of money that needs to be paid up
03:33front.
03:34Sure, the activity is meant to be done with a crew, so the fee can be shared between each member,
03:39but it still remains a lot of money nevertheless.
03:43In addition, you should not be counting on a return on investment.
03:48With just above 40 SCU of mineable ore, including inert materials,
03:54rockbreaker is meant to be financially unviable if you only intend to sell the ore you find at the refinery.
04:01However, you may still make a profit if you sell your ore or your crafted items to players.
04:08The problem is that there is still no player marketplace in the game, so players have to rely
04:13on clunky methods, often using third-party systems to sell what they find or craft,
04:18and I feel that there is still much to be done on CIG's end regarding that particular aspect.
04:25So, is the Rockbreaker dungeon worthy of your time? Right now, I would say no. And that's not because
04:32the idea is bad, far from it. On paper, Rockbreaker has got everything going for it. It's a high-risk,
04:39team-based activity, it has hidden resources, rare materials tied to crafting, this should be one of
04:46the most exciting gameplay loops in Star Citizen. But in its current state, it just doesn't deliver
04:51where it matters. The rewards aren't strong enough to justify the effort. The ore quality
04:57is inconsistent. The resource variety is too limited. And when you combine that with a massive upfront cost
05:05and no reliable way to sell what you earn, the whole experience ends up feeling underwhelming.
05:11What's frustrating is that Rockbreaker isn't far from being great. A few key changes, a guaranteed
05:16high-quality deposit, more diverse materials like Lindinium, a proper player-driven marketplace could
05:22completely transform this into a must-play activity. But this is Star Citizen, of course. It's an alpha,
05:30systems evolve, mechanics improve, and gameplay looks get refined over time. So, while Rockbreaker
05:35may not be worth your time today, it could absolutely become one of the best activities in the game
05:41tomorrow. Until then, I'm curious. What do you think? Is Rockbreaker something you'd run,
05:47or are you skipping it for now? Let me know your thoughts in the comment section down below.
05:51Also, I wouldn't be able to make independent critical content like this one without my Patreon
05:57and YouTube members. As you can imagine, CIG has never supported me with any sponsored giveaway or
06:02any Community Hub highlight, so that means that I rely on you guys to keep the channel going.
06:08If you would like to help more than with just a like, or a comment, or even a subscription,
06:13you will find the link to my Patreon page in the description down below. Support starts at just $1 a
