00:00He's Mr. Andrew Siciliano. Hello, Andrew.
00:04Good day to you both. Happy draft day to you and yours.
00:08Will it be a happy draft day at about midnight?
00:12What would make you happy, Jeff?
00:14You know, Andrew, I threw out early on. I would be all in on this.
00:20Get one of the top three wide receivers.
00:22Actually, I said if Reese, Bailey, or Love are there at six, just take them.
00:30Just take them.
00:31I don't expect any of them to be.
00:34They're not going to take Love at six. I'd be stunned if they took Love at six.
00:37I'd be okay with it, but I'd be stunned as well.
00:40But I'd be fine with it because, boy, does he look great.
00:44But get one of the top three wide receivers in the draft.
00:47And I don't care if it's at six or if you trade down.
00:50You get Lemon, Tyson, Carnell Tate.
00:53And then with your other two picks, assuming they still hang on to them,
00:56get in either order, best offensive lineman on your board,
01:00next best wide receiver on your board.
01:02Let's take care of this wide receiver situation.
01:06Yeah, I agree with you, and I apologize for the motorcycle that just went by.
01:10I would agree with you on the wide receiver part.
01:13No, it's not that funny.
01:16Look, I've said, and I'll say it again, I'd be thrilled with Carnell Tate at six,
01:20and then you can pick whatever offensive lineman you want at 24,
01:24not to discount that need and call me later.
01:27I'm with you.
01:27I don't know that that's how it is going to go down.
01:31Let's try to pick some of that or pick through some of that what you just laid out, Jeff.
01:35Number one, I don't think they would take Jeremiah Love at six.
01:39Also, I don't think he's going to be there, so it's a moot point.
01:41But go back to last year.
01:43Let's use last year as the example.
01:45They had Ashton Gentry on the board at five, and they took Mason Graham.
01:50And I think that's a window into their thinking and their overall philosophy
01:54in that they're just not going to take a running back in the top ten.
01:57But I don't think he's there.
01:59Yes, sure, trading out would be nice, but somebody's going to want to have to come up.
02:04If one of those guys is there, then, yes, they're in a better position to get out.
02:09I spoke to Arville Reese yesterday for my Yahoo show, and I rolled that out there to him.
02:13I said, what do you think?
02:16What would you think, now that you want to fall, but if Glenville's own Arville Reese was there at six,
02:22and you had the opportunity to play across from Myles Garrett, and his face lit up,
02:28and he said that would be pretty cool, but I don't know that he's going to be there either.
02:33So I think they're going to have to choose between Tate, Tyson, and whichever offensive lineman is there.
02:45Let me ask you this.
02:46Do you think the Raiders are getting any phone calls for that number one pick,
02:50or does everyone believe there's no way they're moving off it?
02:53I think if they had received phone calls, that's in the past.
02:57I think they've made it very clear to everybody this is what they're doing.
03:01Now, would that prevent the GM from going Project Hail Mary here?
03:07Yes.
03:07A couple hours to go before they actually start?
03:09No, somebody could do it.
03:11I just can't see it happening.
03:13Okay, let me throw the Hail Mary at you because we were just kicking this around.
03:16I mean, look, quarterback is a tough position to find in the NFL,
03:20and it feels like the Browns need one.
03:21What if the Browns throughout gave the Raiders both their first-round picks this year
03:26and their first-round pick next year and threw Shador Sanders in
03:29because we knew that the Raiders had talked about him a year ago?
03:33Would that be enticing enough for the Raiders to even think about it?
03:37I mean, I think they would certainly listen to it.
03:39I don't know organizationally if that's what you want to do for the Browns.
03:42You, yes, need a quarterback, but I like Fernando Mendoza a lot, a lot.
03:47But are you so convinced that he is absolutely the paradigm shifter,
03:53he is the game changer, he is the one to resurrect your offense
03:57and take you to the postseason, that you're willing to give up that much draft capital,
04:01especially talking about here next year's?
04:05Number one, you're really willing to do that?
04:07I don't know that I would be willing to do that.
04:11I don't think I would either.
04:13Yeah, I don't know that I want to do that.
04:15I mean, it's draft day.
04:16This is what makes it fun, you know?
04:18I get it.
04:19I need more picks, not fewer picks.
04:22I would agree with that completely.
04:24Can the Browns take care of the wide receiver thing in the first two rounds?
04:28Would you be afraid if they kicked it back to the third, fourth round,
04:33something like that, Andrew?
04:35Their history at third round or fourth round for wide receiver has not been good of late.
04:40No, sir.
04:41You're correct.
04:41That's not a shot.
04:42Just look at the history.
04:43I still think Cedric Tillman could be a steady, consistent contributor.
04:50He's got to stay on the field, though.
04:52He knows that.
04:53Talked to Ced earlier this week, and obviously, fourth year is a huge year for him,
04:57final year of his rookie contract.
04:59But this is, I don't want to say it's a top-heavy.
05:02There's no Jamar Chase in this wide receiver class,
05:05but you might have, by the middle of the second round,
05:08ten guys taken by the end of the second round, maybe better said.
05:12So there are certainly wide receivers here.
05:15I know everybody and their uncle is mocking Casey Concepcion to the Browns at 24.
05:20I don't know that he's going to be there.
05:22He's also, he's not a big X, guys.
05:25He's an inside guy.
05:26He's a slot guy.
05:27He's certainly explosive.
05:27His hands are somewhat questionable.
05:29But he's not, you know, he's, I don't want to say he's Elijah Moore.
05:36He's a sturdy guy, and he's got crazy explosiveness.
05:40But he's not some big outside threat.
05:43I'd like you to thank me and congratulate me for not screaming when you said his hands are questionable
05:48and he's not Elijah Moore.
05:52Well, I wasn't, I meant in terms of physical profile.
05:56I know, I know.
05:57You're scaring me.
05:59Elijah Moore, no, no, no, no.
06:01I was not in any way talking about hands.
06:03Elijah Moore was a guy who, size-wise, you would think would have to play inside.
06:07Yeah.
06:08But we often played him outside.
06:09And there's always that, no, no, no, no, he's not a fly.
06:11He can actually play outside.
06:13His effectiveness was not great outside.
06:15K.C. Concepcion has stayed under six foot tall.
06:20He's not slight in any way.
06:22But, you know, he's not Debo Sandler.
06:25Would you think a team, whether it be the Browns or anybody else, would be, if they need a left
06:32tackle,
06:33would they be better off taking one of these guys who's been primarily a right tackle with versatility
06:40or maybe picking up one of the guys who has played primarily left tackle, Caleb Lomu, just for instance,
06:49who might need a little more development?
06:52Because the switching guys around, to me, sometimes gets a little shaky, Andrew.
06:57It can.
06:58And I know that A.B. said last week that tackles are tackles left or right.
07:03His point that he makes about that defense is move guys around is absolutely dead on.
07:09Heck, Myles Garrett played some middle linebacker last year, for Pete's sake, right,
07:13when he lined up over the center and he was standing up and he was playing basketball.
07:16So you can't just say your left tackle has to be your premium blocker and that's it,
07:21and your right tackle is your mall guy.
07:23That's not the way it works anymore.
07:25But the issue with this draft, with these right tackles,
07:28is that a lot of these right tackles actually project inside.
07:31Spencer Fano likely plays inside.
07:33He could play wherever, but he could play inside.
07:36Again, CeCe Maui Noah, most people think, is eventually going to be a right guard.
07:42I had Daniel Jeremiah on my Browns podcast, my best podcast,
07:46available with Jason Gibbs a couple of days ago.
07:48You should see it right now with ClevelandBruns.com,
07:50and I asked him specifically, can Spencer Fano play left tackle?
07:53Because as an underclassman, he did play left tackle before Caleb Lomu got there,
07:57and they flipped him over to the right side, and they gave Lomu the left side.
08:00And he said yes.
08:01He says he has left tackle seat.
08:03That's DJ's quote there.
08:06So you could potentially play him on the left side.
08:10Or you can go draft Blake Miller, Strongville's own, Strongville's own,
08:14and play him on the left side.
08:16But I don't know that he's there at 24.
08:19Perfect draft, I would say, give me Tate and Miller.
08:22The board could fall that way.
08:24I don't know that that's going to happen, though.
08:26All right, let me throw this one at you.
08:27Considering you said it the other day, and I thought it was very poignant.
08:30It's Mendoza and then anything after that.
08:34I think that's pretty close to what you said.
08:36Yeah, no one knows.
08:36I mean, do you believe Bailey's locked into two?
08:39Do you believe that Reese is locked into the top four spot?
08:43I think Reese is in the top four.
08:45Yeah.
08:46Love, too?
08:47I don't think he gets by five.
08:49Love?
08:49I think Love.
08:49I think they're both in the top five.
08:51However, look, if you put all the talking heads on it,
08:55and all the mock draft experts, and I love,
08:57I don't know if you guys saw what GMFB Good Morning Football did today,
09:00they did a mock draft of those who do mock drafts.
09:04So, like, I'll take Daniel Jeremiah in the first round,
09:06and you'll take me from Yahoo in the second round.
09:08And they had their headshots on.
09:10It was actually pretty good.
09:13It's 50-50 on Reese and Bailey.
09:15There are people that are pounding the table and saying it's definitely going
09:19to be Reese, and there are people pounding the table saying it's definitely
09:22going to be Bailey.
09:24I asked Arvell point blank yesterday.
09:25I'm like, come on, do you just know and you don't want to tell us?
09:28Because, I mean, you wouldn't tell us.
09:30Why would you tell us?
09:32That's kind of, you know, ruining the whole bit for your new employer.
09:36Because I don't know.
09:38It was a try, Andrew.
09:39He goes, I don't lie.
09:42He goes, I really don't like lying.
09:43So, I would tell you, but I don't know.
09:46I'm wondering where Pete Prisco went on his mock draft,
09:49because he's one of the few that has the Browns taking Ty Simpson at 24.
09:55I don't see that happening.
09:58I don't.
10:00I think it really is.
10:01The group think is it comes down to the Jets and the Cardinals.
10:04I would say the Cardinals over the Jets.
10:06I don't want to say it's a wasted pick for the Jets.
10:09Wasted is too strong.
10:12And I hate to tell any young man that having, you know,
10:15their selection of the NFL draft is a waste for the organization.
10:19But the Jets have three number one picks.
10:21They have three first-round picks next year.
10:24And they're going to pay Geno this year.
10:27Unless you are absolutely, unequivocally convinced
10:30that Ty Simpson is the guy that you want to sit behind Geno Smith.
10:36And then next year, he will be better than the quarterback that you could take
10:43with one of your three first-round picks,
10:46or make a move to get with a combination of those picks.
10:50I just don't see it.
10:52Logically, franchise-building model.
10:55It doesn't make sense.
10:56Andrew, who's the most likely guy of anybody here not named DeJuan Jones
11:01to be the left tackle next year?
11:04And if they go out and they draft a guy to be a left tackle,
11:06what becomes of DeJuan Jones?
11:09Well, you need depth.
11:10You don't need five.
11:12You need 10 or 11.
11:14Valid.
11:15And I think if you look at the way injuries have gone,
11:18not only for the Browns, but for all 32 the last couple of years
11:22on the offensive line, it is a contact sport.
11:25Those are five guys that get hit every single snap of the game
11:30when they're on the field.
11:32You need more than five.
11:34So DeJuan Jones could be your swing tackle.
11:36I don't know.
11:37Is there a world, and it's a crazy world,
11:40in which you play Titus Howard on the left side?
11:42Yeah, but I think that's the longest.
11:45I think it's a very long shot.
11:46So right now, I don't know who the left tackle is.
11:49I know KT Leveston was the left tackle this week on Tuesday
11:53when the media was there for the first day of the voluntary walkthrough,
11:56but no position group is healthy nor with full attendance right now.
12:00So I can't say with any degree of certainty
12:02that the left tackle is on the roster.
12:05However, good thing you don't have to play a game on April 23rd.
12:08How about that?
12:09All right, Andrew, last question, 30 seconds.
12:11Give me your worst-case scenario for the Browns tonight.
12:17Worst case?
12:17Well, I mean, there's always like the Julio Jones nightmare.
12:20They just keep trading at it.
12:21You don't take anyone you like.
12:23I think, and now people are going to kill me for this opinion,
12:26on paper, I think that trade made sense.
12:28You just didn't draft guys.
12:30Sorry, Phil Taylor, love you.
12:31That turned out to be franchise cornerstones, right?
12:34Correct.
12:35It didn't turn out that way.
12:37But on paper, it made sense.
12:39And that's with any trade down, or any trade up for that matter.
12:42A lot of them on paper make sense,
12:45but then you've got to pick the right players.
12:46And that's always the trick.
12:48Last year, I think it worked for the Browns.
12:51Mason Graham, Quinshon Judkins, and this year's one.
12:54I mean, on paper, that's a win.
12:56That's a home run right now.
12:59Okay, you still didn't give me your words.
13:00You didn't give me your words.
13:02I want to hear you say Ty Simpson at six.
13:04That's what I want to hear.
13:05I want to hear you say they take kicker.
13:08No, I don't think they should take Ty Simpson at six.
13:11I do not.
13:12Okay.
13:12And they're not going to.
13:13Like, I mean, I will be – there's no way.
13:17I just cannot.
13:18There is no possible way that ain't going to happen.
13:24And if you want to run this back, if it were to happen, I will eat it.
13:27But it ain't going to happen.
13:29I'm sorry.
13:31There is any – let's – and the explanation why is, even if you were in love with him
13:39and you were convinced he is the quarterback of the future, you don't need to take him at six
13:44because no one will take him in the top ten, period.
13:49I think it starts at 16 if the Jets truly did want him.
13:54But I think that's too rich for the Jets.
13:56The Jets have 33 and 44.
14:02With you, brother.
14:03Oh, it's going to be fun.
14:04Thank you, Andrew.
14:04Have a good time tonight, and thank you for being with us today.
14:09Gentlemen, I love coming on with you, as always.
14:12You know that.
14:12And I look forward to seeing you guys this weekend.
14:15All right, buddy.
14:15See you soon.
14:16Andrew Siciliano joining us on the Make It Right call.
