Transcript
00:00The killing of the mother of three during the early morning robbery has left the country in fear and frustration.
00:07Speaking on the morning edition, activist Wendell Eversley says citizens can no longer feel safe,
00:14describing the attack as a direct indictment on the state,
00:18warning that criminals are now openly challenging the authority of government.
00:23We have a minister of Homeland Security. Every time they hear him speak, it's like a wiggle, a wiggle, a
00:30wiggle, a wiggle, right?
00:32And he said he has intelligence. How do they do have the intelligence?
00:36That's what took place yesterday at a police station in the city of San Fernando.
00:43We are the intelligence. Is it that this country now we're seeing that we have people in office who don't
00:49understand the job?
00:50He raises serious questions about the state of national security.
00:55Somebody is pushing some sort of nonsense into the crime minister's head and she's not listening.
01:02I read the people who could do the job out there and we are being looked at a banana country
01:11where crime fighting is concerned.
01:13Eversley believes the moment demands urgent introspection at the highest levels of leadership,
01:19including a reconsideration of ministerial responsibilities.
01:24I think we need a new Homeland Security Minister.
01:29This President's Homeland Security Minister is an embarrassment to Children of Antobago.
01:38And when they're going to celebrate a one-year anniversary, what are they going to celebrate?
01:46Blood-towing industry and clap for it?
01:48Or they're going to tell the population that we will have a new Homeland Security Minister?
01:55Nicole M. Romani, TV6 News.
01:58We'll see you next time.
