00:00Arvel Reese is now a bigger favorite to go second
00:03than he has been at any other point during draft season.
00:06I mean, some books are starting to push well through minus 300
00:10on these Arvel Reese to go second overall odds.
00:14Are you buying the Jets and Reese at second?
00:20No, I think David Bailey's a better player.
00:23And I think if the Jets are going to go pure edge rusher,
00:27they go with David Bailey.
00:29Again, he is a game changer.
00:31He's got a body type, in my opinion, like Jared Verse
00:35and a Miles Garrett that warrants double teams.
00:37You need to chip him.
00:39He could add 10 to 15 pounds of muscle and still be a dominant player.
00:43I do feel Arvel Reese is more of a tweener.
00:47I think he's more athletic and runs sideline to sideline.
00:50But again, I don't think he's that dominant edge rusher
00:53that David Bailey is.
00:55That's just my take on Arvel Reese.
00:58I think David Bailey showcased that against better, more elite competition.
01:02And I think Arvel Reese certainly is a top 10 pick.
01:06But if the Jets are going to go that route,
01:08I think they take Bailey over Reese, in my opinion.
01:11I think what's very interesting is the way this process has gone for New York
01:18and how it feels like they have decided pick number two is going to be a pass rusher
01:28and pick 16 is going to be a wide receiver.
01:31There were some reports, you know, recently, Joe,
01:34that said they're looking at 16 to maybe grab an Omar Cooper out of Indiana
01:39or Casey Concepcion, who I know you really like out of Texas A&M.
01:46Like, Carnell Tate at 101.
01:50I was speaking to somebody who knows the Jets pretty well,
01:53just saying, like, you know, is it crazy?
01:56Is it crazy to consider Carnell Tate at two?
02:00When you look at the money that wide receivers are getting,
02:03I don't think it is crazy to consider Carnell Tate at second overall.
02:07If they think he's, you know, that kind of guy.
02:10But let me put it to you, Joe.
02:12When you look at what the Jets need, is it obviously the right decision
02:17to be looking at Reese and Bailey more so than looking at Carnell Tate?
02:22No, it's not.
02:24But again, you see, like, here's the thing, though, Kevin.
02:27They have Geno Smith.
02:28You got to protect Geno Smith.
02:31You better have six to seven seconds to throw the football
02:34or he's going to get battered each and every play.
02:37And the problem is I'm not sold on the offensive line.
02:41But again, if you're telling me that's the available player
02:44and you want offense, I would go Carnell Tate.
02:47You pair him with his, you know, another Ohio State wide receiver
02:50and Garrett Wilson.
02:52Now you have an offense similar to what Joe Burrow and Cincinnati have.
02:57You have a dynamic one-two punch.
02:59You have a potential to put up 30, 40 points per game.
03:03But you better have a gunslinger at the quarterback position,
03:06and that's the problem now.
03:08Now we go back to the X factor with Geno Smith.
03:11And Geno Smith is only effective, Kevin,
03:14when he has multiple seconds to throw the football.
03:17So that's the problem.
03:19So what are we looking at here?
03:20Are we looking at a team that needs a quarterback
03:23and wants to add an elite wide receiver?
03:26Or do you just want to take care of the defense?
03:28If it was me and you're telling me it's Geno Smith,
03:31I'm going David Bailey because it's a safer pick.
03:34There's no shot or guarantee that if I take Carnell Tate,
03:40Geno Smith's going to be upright and going to be able to deliver him the football.
03:43It'll look like Justin Fields and Garrett Wilson last year.
