00:00I want to start with Aaron Glenn for a second, though, Joe, where, you know, firing coach
00:07after one season should be rare, and ultimately it is, and the Jets did not do it, but the
00:16Aaron Glenn hire is never something I was infatuated with, because some of his candidacy
00:22didn't really make sense to me.
00:25He was a defensive coordinator for a handful of seasons in Detroit.
00:27I never thought those defenses were very good.
00:31The Lions were good.
00:33They were good because of their offense.
00:35Like, usually they were losing games because, well, wow, that defense isn't very good.
00:40And last year, the Jets were bad and had stretches of looking like the worst defense in football.
00:47And for a former cornerback who cut his teeth as a coach, Joe, as a DB's coach, to be that,
00:55to end up being the head coach of the first ever NFL team to not have a single intercepted
01:00pass by a defense in a year, man, I got to tell you, that's a really tough sell.
01:10And if they would have moved off of Aaron Glenn after one season, I would have understood it.
01:14I would have.
01:16They didn't.
01:16They didn't.
01:18But how much of a chance do you give Aaron Glenn to be the Jets head coach in year number
01:26three?
01:29He's got to win, Kevin, at least seven or eight games.
01:33I mean, I can't see Aaron Glenn.
01:34I'm not sure that'd be enough, to be honest with you.
01:39I think they're ready to move off of him, but go for it.
01:42Well, I mean, here's the thing.
01:43I mean, what are you getting?
01:44Is the defense showing considerable progression?
01:48Are they a top 15 unit?
01:50To your point, they couldn't force, you know, interceptions last year.
01:54They were terrible against some mediocre offenses.
01:57Defensively, they didn't show any dominance in any particular game.
02:02They got abused in the secondary.
02:04They got rid of Sauce Gardner.
02:06They're, I mean, the foundation, they're in a complete rebuild.
02:09The foundation is completely bare bones at this point.
02:13And I agree with you.
02:14I mean, what did Aaron Glenn show you defensively that warrants him being the head coach?
02:20They went from one of the best defensive coordinators in Robert Sala to Aaron Glenn, okay, who, and you know,
02:31when we did all the breakdowns leading up to Aaron Glenn and his interview with the New York Jets, with
02:38Cap,
02:38and all of the experts, they all said that Aaron Glenn knew every phase of the organization.
02:44It wasn't just, he wasn't just hired because he was a defensive wizard, right?
02:50He knew the player personnel.
02:52He knew the scouting department.
02:53He knew every aspect of the organization.
02:56Did he showcase that last year?
02:59Is there any shot that he's showcasing it in the offseason this year?
03:04I mean, so, unless you show me signs of improvement with a clear-cut plan, not just for 2026, but
03:14for 2027,
03:16that you're going to get that quarterback of the future and you're going to be maybe inching towards a wild
03:23card or an AFC playoff spot,
03:25how do you keep Aaron Glenn around in 2026 and beyond?
03:29How do you keep Aaron Glenn around?
