00:00The big story in college and pro football is the saga that is quarterback Brendan Soresby of Texas Tech.
00:07If you're unfamiliar with this story, he's a high-end level quarterback that played for the Red Raiders over the
00:12last couple of years
00:13and appears to be one of the very best quarterbacks potentially available in college football.
00:19But available is the key word. He's no longer available.
00:22It was ruled yesterday by Soresby and the university that it was best that they part ways.
00:28And this is all over allegations of him betting on sports.
00:31Not big amounts, but still betting on sports, which you can't do in the NCAA.
00:36So now Soresby will head toward the supplemental draft, which will take place later this month.
00:41And several teams could potentially throw bids in terms of draft picks out there to try to acquire his services.
00:48Any team that does would lose that draft pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
00:52One of those teams potentially being discussed is the New York Jets, who seemingly are perennially looking for their next
01:01starting quarterback of the future.
01:04Would they take a shot and throw a pick at this player?
01:07Here is Aaron Glenn on Soresby entering next month's supplemental draft.
01:12Brendan Soresby and Texas Tech declared yesterday that he's going to apply for the supplemental draft.
01:17Yep.
01:17If the NFL does approve that, would you guys have interest in exploring that?
01:21I'm going to focus on the guys that we have here now.
01:23And that's something that I'm sure me and Mujia talk about.
01:26But, listen, I got, you know, the quarterbacks here that we're focused on right now.
01:31Just one follow-up.
01:33Apart from the evaluation of him as a quarterback, the off-the-field stuff, the gambling issues, would that disqualify
01:39him in your eyes?
01:39I have no idea what that is, to be honest with you.
01:42I heard about it.
01:43I see it on TV.
01:43But I don't want to respond to that because I have no idea of the inner work of that.
01:49It's not fair to that player for me to do that.
01:52All right, Joe.
01:53That's a really good job by the PR team.
01:54Here's what goes down right before Aaron Glenn speaks.
01:57I'm going to let you in, okay?
01:58So, Joe, what happens is the PR guy, they sit in a different room.
02:04And whoever that is did a good job.
02:06He said to Aaron Glenn, listen, they're going to ask you about this quarterback, Brendan Soresby.
02:10Let's go over exactly what you're going to say and how you're going to get it out there.
02:13And a well-executed plan right there from Aaron Glenn.
02:17Not saying anything bad.
02:19Not saying anything good.
02:20Not saying anything at all.
02:22I suspect the Jets will be one of those teams to throw a pick at this kid.
02:25I don't know if they end up getting him, but I think they'll be involved.
02:29Well, just from the pure standpoint that they have enough assets and picks accumulated that
02:34if they did want to take a flyer on them, sure.
02:38But, I mean, listen, long-term picture, it's—Gino Smith's not the answer.
02:44It's—they are looking towards next year's draft to solidify that franchise quarterback
02:51with the, you know, getting closer, at least trading up to get whoever it is that they want.
02:56But I think they have the assets to certainly go ahead and take a flyer on him if he's available.
03:02I'm with you there.
