00:00A lot of fanfare, a lot of fun over the offseason for the New York Mets.
00:03Made a trade to get a quality pitcher there in Freddie Peralta over with Milwaukee.
00:07Bichette comes over.
00:08I mean, they had so many changes that lineup to get excited for.
00:12And then you see that the Mets are in their midst of their longest losing streak in 22 years.
00:1811 straight losses.
00:19And yesterday, you probably figured, Joe, they're going to finally get out of it.
00:221-0 leading to the ninth.
00:24Our closer that we brought in, Devin Williams, who was really bad for the Yankees.
00:28Well, it turned out yesterday he was really bad for the Mets as well.
00:30Bones save extra innings.
00:32Mets go down again.
00:3411 straight losses.
00:36Yeah, I mean, it was funny, right?
00:38They used Peterson as the length guy in relief there.
00:42And it worked.
00:43I mean, they were trying to do anything to mix it up.
00:46I mean, they held them scoreless there, Chicago, until, well, they didn't in the ninth inning
00:51or the 10th inning, for that matter.
00:53Yeah, Devin Williams, boy, it was like watching it all over again as a Yankee guy going, oh,
01:00I know that, Devin Williams.
01:01Yes, blown save in the ninth inning.
01:04And then, of course, I had no idea Craig Kimbrell was even in Major League Baseball anymore.
01:09But apparently, he pitches for the Mets.
01:11And I know that because his wild pitch sending Pete Armstrong, Pete Crow Armstrong to third base
01:18in extra innings, sack fly later, game over, and the Mets lose 2-1.
01:23Typical in just, when it's going bad, Donnie, everything goes bad.
01:28And that's kind of where the Mets are right now.
01:30Nothing they do is good enough.
01:33Yeah, Steve Cohen tweeted out last night, everything looked good yesterday.
01:35Hey, guys, bright spot.
01:36We had the lead in the ninth inning.
01:38We just lost it.
01:38Baby steps 11 games in a row.
01:40Let's hear from the Mets scrum here after the game talking about what the heck is going on.
01:44I mentioned it's going to get loud.
01:45A lot of that talk is going to be around Carlos Mendoza.
01:47I mean, what would you say about how the job the manager has done with you guys?
01:50He's done a fantastic job.
01:51This is not on him.
01:52This is not on him.
01:54He has to make sure everybody here is prepared.
01:57Every coach here is prepared.
01:58And we have the information.
02:00It comes down on us.
02:02Mendy's our guy.
02:03He's our leader.
02:04He's in control.
02:06And he's done a tremendous job.
02:08We just haven't executed it.
02:10You know, it would be unfair to put everything on him because at the end of the day,
02:12he has gotten the ship in the right direction.
02:15We just have to, the people are paddling.
02:18We got to paddle and execute.
02:21And basically what he's saying is the manager isn't doing anything wrong.
02:24Well, you have an 11-game losing streak, which means he's not putting the right lineups out there,
02:28not giving you the right motivation.
02:29You guys aren't working on the right things.
02:30The one thing we do know, Joe, about professional sports,
02:33high-priced players, hard to move.
02:35Managers, easy to fire.
02:37And without, I mean, but Donnie, is he just not hanging the lineup card that he is being given
02:44from the front office in the analytics department?
02:47Is he not writing it down correctly?
02:50Is he hanging it on the wrong wall?
02:52Like, what exactly is his role on this team besides babysitter?
02:56That's all Major League Baseball managers are.
02:59He's not making any decisions.
03:00That's ridiculous.
03:01All he's doing there is putting up the lineup card, and I agree, it's not on him.
03:08The manager has nothing to do with this right now.
03:10It's execution.
03:12And by the way, did he overpay for Bichette?
03:14Was it him who wrote the check?
03:16Like, I don't know what to tell you here, but a lot of that money spent,
03:19not spent on the right guy so far, that's for sure.
