Oregon Ducks Defensive Coordinator Chris Hampton discusses wanting to grow in their pass rush. Hampton talks about how they brought in coach Rip Rowan to help with their pass rush. he also talks about the growth of their staff.

00:04Sacks aren't everything, but clearly sacks dipped last year.
00:07What can you divulge in terms of what you guys want to do
00:10to generate maybe greater pass rush?
00:12Yeah, I think that's why we brought in Rip.
00:13Coach Rip, you know, Rip Rowan is going to do a fantastic job
00:16as a pass rush specialist, like helping us get better.
00:18We're talking about growth, you know, with the players.
00:20How can we grow as a staff?
00:21And I think us bringing him in is going to add value to our staff,
00:25along with Coach Tony Tuiota, along with Cam Maragi.
00:28We are really two great, you know, front seven coaches,
00:31and we bring in Coach Rip,
00:32and I think we can get better in that area for sure.
00:36Got a couple practices now.
00:38Been able to see Jet Washington out there.
00:39What are your early impressions of him
00:41and what he can do kind of with that size, that frame?
00:43You know, I mean, he's obviously got a rare size, speed combination.
00:46You know, he's a guy that is, you know, every bit of 6'5", you know,
00:49and he looks the part for sure.
00:52You know, anyone that comes out there and see him is like,
00:53God, that guy's huge, you know.
00:56He's got the right mindset.
00:57He really does.
00:58I mean, I love this guy's mental makeup.
01:01He is infatuated with the details.
01:03I mean, he watches a lot of film on his own,
01:06asks a lot of great questions.
01:08He's a fast learner.
01:09I think he's going to have a very bright future here.
