00:00I'm going to show you 10 simple zip tie hacks that might just come in handy.
00:05If you're moving or storing items in plastic totes, run a zip tie through the holes in the lid and
00:10handles.
00:10This keeps the lid securely attached and prevents it from popping open while you're carrying it.
00:16Need a quick phone stand? Wrap a zip tie around your phone, but don't cut off the excess.
00:22Instead, use the leftover end as a brace.
00:26It's a simple stand you can make in just a few seconds.
00:30Need to glue something round or oddly shaped?
00:32Instead of trying to use a traditional clamp, wrap a few zip ties around the pieces and tighten them down.
00:39They'll hold everything together while the glue dries.
00:42For this one, take a long zip tie and carefully cut several small angled notches along both sides.
00:49Slide it down your bathroom drain and pull it back out.
00:52Those little jagged edges will grab onto the hair and other debris hiding down inside the pipe.
00:58Here's an easy way to move hanging clothes.
01:01Gather several hangers together and secure them with a zip tie.
01:04Now you can carry an entire group of clothes without having hangers going everywhere.
01:10Add a zip tie around the handle and leave the locking head sticking out.
01:14That little bump is enough to keep your tool right where you put it.
01:18You can also turn a zip tie into a simple key holder.
01:21Run it through several loose keys, secure it, and leave enough room to hang the whole set from a hook.
01:28When traveling, always run a zip tie through your suitcase zippers to help keep them secured together.
01:35Just make sure you have a way to remove it once you reach your destination.
01:39Got a WD-40 can?
01:41You got that straw that always goes missing?
01:42Take two zip ties, tie them together, clip off the excess, and what you can do is take the straw,
01:47put it right through where the joints are together, and then roll the straw over,
01:52and it's going to stay secure.
01:53And you always have it whenever you need it.
01:55And it's easy to take apart.
01:57If you've got a bunch of wires just hanging out, oh, such a mess,
02:01especially under your desk where your feet are or anything like that.
02:04A zip tie is perfect.
02:05Putting those together, and look, it keeps them secured.
02:08And if you ever need to pull the wires out, just give it a tug,
02:11and it will pull right through those ties.
02:13Not a problem.
02:14Next one, if you've got a strip screw in a door,
02:17especially if it's wobbly or anything like that or keeps coming loose,
02:20cut some of the zip ties in little pieces and stick them inside
02:25where the screw goes.
02:26Once you do the screw and put it inside, it actually gives it enough friction.
02:30Don't over-tighten, and it'll hold it in place and keep that door from rattling.
02:34Also, you've got a drill bit, but you don't want to drill all the way through the wood
02:37because you're afraid of hitting your table.
02:39You can use a zip tie to measure exactly where you want the depth of the drill bit to go.
02:44Give it a drill, and when it gets to a certain spot, stop.
02:47You're done.
02:48And that gives you a perfect measurement every time.
02:51Our next hack is if you've got tools or caulking or anything like that that rolls around,
02:56all you've got to do is take one zip tie, put it around.
02:58Don't even cut the excess off.
03:00And watch this.
03:01None of those tools or anything you've got are going to roll away from you.
03:04This one is like my favorite.
03:06Don't have a caulking gun?
03:07All you have to do is take a clamp, put two zip ties around the caulking tube,
03:11hold it to the clamp, take a piece of wood or a dowel, go ahead and cinch down on the
03:17clamp.
03:17Watch this.
03:18And you've got a makeshift caulking gun.
03:20It works perfect.
03:22To start this project, take a paper towel holder and some zip ties from Dollar Tree.
03:27Loop the zip ties around the paper towel stand one by one, evenly spaced and secure in place.
03:34Go all the way up the stand with zip ties.
03:37Take scissors and cut off the excess of the zip tie.
03:40Use a mini hot glue gun to add little dots of hot glue to make sure the zip ties stay
03:47in place.
03:48Cover the entire stand with gold spray paint and allow plenty of time to dry between coats.
03:54When the stand has dried, place it in your desired location and use it as easy storage.
04:00Grab a wire trash basket from the Dollar Tree.
04:03Then I spray painted the inside and the outside of the basket of metallic silver.
04:08And cut a small hole in the bottom center of the basket.
04:12Adhere a napkin holder from the Dollar Tree to the inside of the cut hole.
04:15So I'm attaching wire to a napkin ring and floating it toward the middle of the basket.
04:22I got these silver zip ties that I'm attaching to the bottom of the wire basket.
04:26I'm hooking on more silver zip ties to complete the bottom section.
04:30Then hook on some white zip ties towards the middle and the top once the bottom section is completed.
04:36Make it fuller and fill in any gaps with the remaining zip ties.
04:40Then adhere a few feathers for extra texture.
04:44I hope this DIY encourages you to create your own zip tie light lampshade.
04:50You'll need four of these chrome napkin holders, a paper towel holder, a set of these plastic
04:56chopping boards, and you can also pick up some zip ties at Dollar Tree as well.
05:00First thing is to trace the napkin holder onto the chopping board.
05:04I'm going to do this four times and then cut out the half circles.
05:09Now I'm using a really strong glue.
05:11E6000 is great for this task.
05:13I'm attaching those pieces of the plastic chopping board to the side of the napkin holder.
05:19I'm going to let this dry completely before moving on to the next step.
05:25I'm creating a two-tiered makeup holder here, so I'm going to take two of these napkin holders
05:30and glue them to the bottom of the paper towel holder.
05:35Once that's dry, I'm going to tilt it on its side and attach two more toward the top of the
05:41paper towel holder.
05:42It's really helpful to place a book or something to keep this steady so it doesn't roll around.
05:48Once the glue is all dry, for a little added security, I'm going to use some zip ties just on
05:53the top two napkin holders
05:55to make sure when I fill this, it doesn't go anywhere.
05:58Now that everything is secure, it's time to add my makeup.
06:01I'm putting in some of my most used products, nail polish and hand lotions,
06:05and this is going to go right in my bathroom so it's really easy to access.
06:09I hope this inspired you to pick up some inexpensive items from Dollar Tree and make your own makeup organizer.
06:14Make a trip to Dollar Tree and grab two of these paper towel holders, two small baskets, and a pack
06:20of these mini cable ties.
06:22Start by attaching your first basket in between the two paper towel holders.
06:26You'll use the mini cable ties to connect each side of the basket to the holders in two different spots
06:31per side.
06:32We're going to angle the basket slightly downward and elevate the back edge by tightening the ties so that it's
06:39tipped forward a bit.
06:40Now repeat the same process with your second basket.
06:44And just like that, you've got a functional, stylish, and budget-friendly tiered organizer with such little effort.
06:50Add it to your kitchen counter or on a shelf in your pantry to organize grab-and-go snacks or
06:55fresh produce so it's easy for the whole family to grab.
06:58You could use this organizer to corral hair accessories like headbands and hair bows on top of a dresser
07:04or put it on the bathroom counter to store rolled-up hand towels and washcloths.
07:09You could also use it to keep all of your makeup and skincare products within easy reach on the counter.
07:15Fill it up with your kids' art supplies on top of their desk or put it on your own desk
07:20and load it up with your favorite office supplies like pens, highlighters, and sticky notes.
07:25You could also add this to an entryway table and use it as a catch-all for emptying out your
07:29pockets and putting your keys, sunglasses, cash, and more all in one place so they don't go missing.
07:34Pick up two paper towel holders from Dollar Tree and a couple of wire baskets as well.
07:40Using some plastic zip ties, attach both of the wire baskets to each of the paper towel holders.
07:45Cut off the ends and take it back outside for a final coat of paint.
07:49Now you have beautiful and functional storage for a bedroom, bathroom, or anywhere that just needs a little tidying up.
07:56And all for a few bucks from Dollar Tree.
07:59Cut off the ends and take it back.
07:59Cut off the ends and take it back.
08:04Cut off the ends and take it back.
08:06Cut off the ends and take it back.
08:07Cut off the ends and take it back.
08:08Cut off the ends and take it back.
