00:00Here are 12 ways to upcycle materials you already have into stunning Christmas decor.
00:07Holiday decor can cost a fortune, but you can build stunning outdoor pieces for free using recycled materials.
00:13I grabbed a palette for the super easy project.
00:16I removed some of the boards using a hammer.
00:18I hammered them back onto the front of the palette so they were closer together.
00:22I used painter's tape to mark a line about one-third of the way down the palette, leaving one vertical
00:28board untaped.
00:29I mixed acrylic paint with water and painted between the lines.
00:33While wet, I removed the tape, and once everything was dry, I used hot glue to apply a giant bow.
00:39I made a second one, and now I have two giant presents for my porch decor this holiday season.
00:45Finding elegant holiday centerpieces on a budget is a challenge, so the next time you're at the thrift store, don't
00:51pass by the crystal aisle.
00:52You'll also want to pick up a few of these dollar store toilet brushes.
00:56I began by taking one brush and removing the cleaning bristles from the handle.
01:00With wire cutters, I cut it in roughly the middle so that I had two separate pieces.
01:05Then, using a pair of scissors, I started at the top and started trimming down the bush.
01:10Once I had all my trees cut, I used these tiny little wood blocks, and I drilled a hole down
01:16the middle of them, placing the wire of the tree into the hole.
01:19I used some mirror effect gold spray paint to paint them all.
01:22For the thrift store pieces, I started with my larger piece, and then using a candle holder from Dollar Tree,
01:29I glued it down right in the middle.
01:30I came in with my bottle brush trees, now painted gold, and used the same gorilla glue to attach them
01:36to the base at the bottom.
01:37I also picked up a set of fairy lights from Dollar Tree, which I worked around all the trees, weaving
01:42it in and out.
01:43You can really have fun with this, and paint your trees whatever color you want to create this beautiful holiday
01:49centerpiece.
01:49If your pool noodles have been sitting around since summer, try this.
01:53Begin with a Dollar Tree square wreath form.
01:56You'll take some wire cutters and cut through the three wires.
01:59Take your pool noodle and slide it into the curved part of your remaining frame.
02:03Use a sharp knife to trim the pool noodle to fit within the frame.
02:07You're going to use pipe cleaners to secure the pool noodle to the frame.
02:11Use two evergreen garlands to wrap around the frame and the pool noodle and cover up both of them.
02:16Take a Dollar Tree white Christmas tree, fluff it out, and lay it along one side of your frame on
02:22top of the green garland.
02:23Using white pipe cleaners, wrap them around the tree and the pool noodle frame.
02:28Now decorate.
02:29I used silver ornaments I had lying around and some silver branches.
02:33Now it's time to hang them and display.
02:35I used one command hook on each side, just above my doorway entrance.
02:41Commercial window displays are incredibly expensive, but you can make your own out of leftover poster boards.
02:47The first thing I did was put all of the foam boards against the window.
02:51I traced the silhouette with a projector, outlining it around each edge.
02:55I placed some cardboard under the foam board and used an exacto knife to start cutting through.
03:00I then put the silhouettes right up against the window.
03:02I used some white tape to hold them in place.
03:04Take some black or royal blue paint and cover the back side of your silhouettes.
03:09Now take some LED lights and place them all up and around the back of the silhouettes.
03:13Now close your blinds, turn on the string lights, and enjoy your stunning new holiday window display.
03:19Throwing away empty glass jars at Christmas time is a waste.
03:23Save them, especially the large ones for this holiday DIY.
03:27Put the glass in a bath of warm, soapy water and take that label off.
03:31Grab a roll of contact paper, cut out a little star shape, and then trace it onto the contact paper.
03:36I'm going to cut out about a dozen stars in different sizes.
03:40Peel the back off and place them all around the jar.
03:43Once all the stars are placed, it's time to paint.
03:46I'm going to use a frosted glass spray paint.
03:49Once you have two coats on there, grab tweezers and use them to pull off the stars before it dries.
03:55I added some leftover rope from another project, and a Christmas sprig with some red berries and green leaves.
04:01Once all the embellishments are on, just take a battery-powered tea light and drop it inside.
04:09Old, broken furniture usually ends up in the trash, but you can turn it into cute decor for Christmas.
04:15After I've taken out all the wooden pieces, I'm going to sand the bottoms.
04:18Now take a few Jenga pieces and glue them together with some wood glue.
04:22Take the largest dowel, center it, and glue it on.
04:25I scuffed a glossy finish on the spindles, and then they were ready for paint.
04:29Start off by adding some of the basic details.
04:32As that dried, I got a pipe cleaner and I turned it into some antlers for the deer.
04:37Now going back to where the tufts of fur are, I went over it with this acrylic pen,
04:42tracing the edges and adding these W shapes here and there in the center.
04:46The little mouth is also a W shape, along with the nose.
04:49I used a low-temperature hot glue gun, put the antlers on, and it was time to cut out some
04:55ears.
04:55You can go ahead and glue those on to where the antlers are.
04:58Upcycling an old chair and turning it into these really cute deer is such a fun craft, and it didn't
05:03cost me anything.
05:05Holiday decor and custom color palettes is surprisingly pricey,
05:09but I had a few unused toilet brush cleaners I thought could help.
05:12Snap off the metal brush from the handle, and cut the brush into different pieces.
05:18Carefully cut along the bristles to create a triangular dome shape.
05:21Take the end of the wire on your tree, the side without the bristles, and glue this portion to the
05:27center of your blocks.
05:28Grab some fabric dye or spray paint, and begin to color your trees.
05:32Carefully dip each bottle brush into the liquid to allow the dye to saturate.
05:36I had to leave each brush in the dye for about 10 minutes.
05:40Let this dry, and get ready to style your beautiful new decor pieces.
05:45If your space is missing a fireplace for the holidays, try this.
05:49I started by wrapping a single sheet of cardboard with marble paper.
05:53Then I grabbed two rectangular boxes and wrapped those in brick paper.
05:57I grabbed another square piece of cardboard and wrapped that in brick paper as well.
06:02Now let's put it together.
06:04I've got a base, two sides, a back, and a mantle.
06:07I even made some faux logs that I can put in the fireplace.
06:11They're pretty lightweight, so I might want to use some scotch tape to keep them in place.
06:15After adding some battery-powered lights, I now have the Christmas mantle my home was missing.
06:22Leftover home supplies don't have to collect dust.
06:25For this project, I'm using leftover corrugated piping.
06:28First, I'm going to start with some pieces of hula hoop.
06:30I'm going to feed them through the corrugated piping and use that to get a perfect circle.
06:35You're going to take a drill bit, drill through one side, flip it over, and then drill through
06:40the other side.
06:41Put a zip tie through it, and that's what's going to hold everything together.
06:45Grab some garland.
06:46I'm going to take that and start wrapping it around.
06:48And once you get to the end, cut off any excess.
06:51I grabbed some battery-powered fairy lights and wrapped them loosely around the wreath.
06:55I added two holes to the pipe so I could feed a zip tie through them and secure the battery
06:59pack.
07:00I grabbed some loose mini ornaments I had and attached them with hot glue.
07:04Now, I have a beautiful holiday wreath.
07:07That plain vase in the back of your cabinet is a missed opportunity.
07:11Start by mixing together one cup of Epsom salt and a tablespoon of clear white glitter.
07:16Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge onto each glass vase, then sprinkle some of the fake snow on top.
07:21Showcase this adorable display with some battery-operated tea light candles and string lights.
07:27Glass globes are out of style, but that doesn't mean they have to go in the trash.
07:32Crack open a bottle of decoupage glue and brush a thick layer of the glue all over the glass globe.
07:38Hold the globe over a large bowl and sprinkle some glitter over the entire thing.
07:43Gently press and pat the glitter onto the sticky globe, then shake off the excess into the bowl.
07:48You'll want to spray the globe with a clear spray adhesive to hold the glitter in place.
07:53Stuff some twinkle lights inside the globe to create a magical holiday display.
07:58Is your entryway not creating a magical first impression?
08:02Take some ducting and stretch it out as long as possible.
08:05Grab a long piece of duct tape and begin to wrap the edges together.
08:09Ensure it's secured tightly and won't pop open.
08:12Next, grab a strand of garland and begin wrapping it around the circle base.
08:17Measure the length required for hanging and tie some ribbon on opposite sides of your base using that length.
08:23To create an illusion, I used clear, flexible string to tie on my ornaments.
08:28I placed them one at a time around the wreath at varying heights.
08:32For an added touch, I added battery-operated twinkle lights.
08:36Now my entryway is ready to wow guests as soon as they walk in.
