00:00Therapist at In Motion OC here in Orange County, California. I'm here today to talk to you about
00:04back arthritis. Arthritis is a term used to describe the inflammation of the joints.
00:09Arthritis in the spine usually occurs in the low back due to its position and the loading that it
00:14takes place. Oftentimes arthritis is accompanied by decreased range of motion, stiffness, and pain.
00:21Physical therapy can help with this issue by improving the motion and I'm going to show you
00:24one exercise to help with that. So you're going to position yourself on the side with your legs
00:31elevated here. This is called an open book. Laying this position, you're going to use your hand
00:38and rotate away, following your hand with your eyes, holding for a second at the end,
00:46and then coming back. So you're working on improving that rotation and the mobility of your spine
00:54in a position that is under load. Hopefully this helps if you've got some stiffness in your back,
01:00but if not, feel free to click on the link below and we can get you started.
