A man has appeared in a Far North Queensland court this morning after being charged with his mother's murder.

00:02Jordan Donald Tickle's case appeared here before the Atherton Magistrates Court this morning where he stands accused of murdering his
00:09mother after her body was found at a property in Mareeba yesterday morning.
00:14Now police say they were first called to the property by another of the woman's sons at around 7.15am
00:22and upon arrival they found the 54-year-old woman's body on the veranda of the property.
00:28Shortly after Mr Tickle was taken into custody and then he was charged yesterday afternoon with three domestic violence charges
00:36including murder and interference with a corpse.
00:40Now police say they'll be alleging that an altercation took place the night before the woman's body was found and
00:48they also say that she'd received fatal injuries on her upper body and head to which she had succumbed to.
00:56Now police also say that that charge of interference with a corpse, they allege, is in relation to attempts to
01:04cover up those injuries.
01:06Now police say that they can't confirm whether or not a weapon was used as that's part of ongoing forensic
01:12examinations and they also say that there's still ongoing investigations into the nature of the relationship between the two despite
01:21the fact that they were mother and son.
01:23Mr Tickle's case appeared here in Atherton, he was represented by a legal aid lawyer, there was no application for
01:30bail and he was remanded in custody due to reappear in court in July.
