00:02Blake Sears was charged late yesterday with the murder of his partner and their 11 month
00:07old daughter. It comes several days after the bodies of the 37 year old woman and 11 month
00:13old girl were found dead inside their Logan home. Police made the discovery after Mr Sears
00:19had been hit by a car at a nearby shopping centre. It's alleged he had just killed his
00:24family then fled before being involved in the accident. In a brief mention of his case
00:30his lawyer appeared in court on his behalf and explained his client was still in
00:35hospital under police guard. He also said the 38 year old had a diagnosed
00:40schizoaffective disorder and would require a mental health assessment once he was
00:44transferred to prison. Outside court he said it was a sensitive matter. Our
00:49thoughts are with those families and people affected by this tragedy but at
00:53times like this I just need to remind myself that there is a job to do. It's
00:58it's currently progressing through the courts. There's some mental health
01:02considerations here and we'll be ensuring that those are raised through the proper
01:06legal channels. His lawyer asked for the case to be moved to Bean Lee where it will
01:10be heard again next week.
