Man charged with murder of 47-year-old woman in Townsville

A man has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a woman in north Queensland last month.

00:00The 47-year-old woman's body was found in the Townsville suburb of Garbert more than

00:07a month ago on November 4th.

00:10It's alleged she was killed five days earlier.

00:13It prompted a major investigation across the region and police revealed this morning that

00:18a man had been charged with domestic violence murder and appeared in the Mareeba Magistrates

00:23Court which is about 300 kilometres north of Townsville on Monday.

00:29It's the third violent death of a woman in the Townsville policing district in less than

00:34three months.

00:36Last month a vigil was held to remember the three women who have died.

00:40The 53-year-old man has been remanded in custody and is due to appear again in court next year.
