00:00This was Nick Casario kind of discussing in mind,
00:03because he's done it a few times in his time.
00:06He's moved up, back, wherever.
00:07This is him discussing kind of the framework of what it looks like
00:12for him and his team to trade up.
00:15I think what we'll do internally is we'll look and say,
00:18okay, in order to get to this spot, here's what the compensation,
00:22based on the trade chart, machine, whatever software you have built in,
00:26and here's what it says it's probably going to be roughly the range.
00:30Okay, that's the range.
00:31All right, if you go up, hey, it's who are you going up for,
00:34and which is going to be driven by the grades, number one.
00:37Number two, here's the compensation associated with it.
00:40So internally, we'll probably have those discussions
00:43and play out some of those scenarios.
00:45But as far as actually consummating the trade,
00:48nothing's going to happen until whichever teams are on the clock.
00:52I mean, even going back to the trade however many years ago,
00:55we didn't really do the trade.
00:57We had sort of an idea of, all right, here's roughly what it would be,
01:01but it really didn't happen until both teams were on the clock.
01:04I'm talking about the Houston-Arizona situation however many years ago.
01:07So if you're going to do something like that, it's probably already done.
01:10If you're not, everybody's like, all right, let's talk draft day,
01:14and then it's going to be a product of what people are looking at on the board.
01:18All right, that was him talking about kind of how they go about their business
01:22when it comes to moving up in the draft.
01:25And, Clint, I don't think you have made any bones about it.
01:28This is something that you are hopeful.
01:31You think there are players there,
01:33and you think this is something that the Texans should seriously be considering.
01:38Yeah, absolutely I do.
01:39Look, I think there's several factors here.
01:42You know, one, we've talked about it a million times,
01:44where the Texans are as an organization.
01:46It is a let's kick the door down type of situation for the Texans.
01:51I mean, we've been to the second round several years,
01:54and you're a playoff team now.
01:56You've established yourself as that.
01:59And now it's time to make a move that's going to allow you to take the next step,
02:03or it's going to be one of the moves this offseason
02:05that will allow you to take that next step.
02:07And I think getting aggressive in the first round of this draft,
02:09and even in the second round of this draft,
02:11and getting at least taking a swing at a couple of players
02:14that could be difference makers, I think is huge.
02:18So if you just look at where the organization is,
02:20you've established yourself as a playoff team.
02:23You've established your roster with an extremely high floor.
02:26You are a second round of the playoffs caliber football team.
02:33You're a team that other teams, other playoff teams around the league
02:36don't want to see in the playoffs because, hey, you know,
02:38you can put something together.
02:39You can put four quarters together.
02:40The defense is nasty.
02:41Your quarterback does have the ability to win games.
02:45You know, most folks probably don't want to see you.
02:48But are you a real A-man,
02:50are you a real AFC championship Super Bowl contender?
02:53I don't know that with this offense constructed as it currently is
02:57that you can, with a straight face, say that.
03:00And so I think in this draft,
03:02there's an opportunity for the Texans to move up
03:05and get aggressive again in the first and or second round
03:08and get players that, at least on paper,
03:11the expectation is they're plug-and-play game-changing type of players.
03:19And now I use that term loosely.
03:21I'm not necessarily – I mean, it can be a guy that can be a rotational piece
03:25at the defensive tackle position that just ends up being a true first-round talent,
03:30gangbusters.
03:31This guy's special, right?
03:33I mean, it can be – it doesn't have to be somebody that touches the football
03:36every single game or, you know, has three or four or five targets, you know, per game.
03:41It can come in multiple different shapes and sizes.
03:44But I think there's an opportunity there for them to go up
03:47and get a legit first-round, the best this league,
03:51this draft has to offer type of player.
03:54And we'll see if they do it.
03:56So, 713-572-416, YouTube and Twitch, what's your feel?
04:00Do you feel – someone just texted in, I'm going to watch the first ten picks.
04:07I already know Nick's going to trade out, LOL.
04:09What's your feel on the potential of Clint's dream coming true,
04:13that the Texans get aggressive and go and get somebody that they can use?
04:19As you said, kick-the-door-down type of season.
04:21All right, man, we've got to advance past this spot we have run into
04:25and banged our heads in three straight years.
04:29I would just say, Clint, my confidence level is at about a two,
04:33that they would actually do this.
04:35And it's just because, to me, as I've said,
04:38I am trying to put myself in a position that I am trying to think like them,
04:43think the way that the Texans do.
04:45And I don't know that they look at how they've set up the roster
04:51in the previous drafts, the offseason,
04:54that they feel there is a player that they have to have to go up and get.
05:01Like, I just – I'm not saying I disagree with you.
05:04I'm saying I don't think the way they've put their team together,
05:08that they think they need to be aggressive to go and get somebody.
05:12And that's why my confidence is low.
05:14Well, I would say this, is I don't know how the powers that be with this team
05:19don't look at this offense and know that there's a need to move up
05:22and get a difference-making type of player,
05:26particularly on the offensive side of the football.
05:29There's just – you know, there's no way that you look at the firepower
05:35that C.J. Stroud has or doesn't have.
05:38There's no way you look at this and go, yeah, man, we're ready to roll out there
05:43and move the football and score points.
05:45There's just no way that you're doing that.
05:47You look at the tight end room, beyond Dalton Schultz, suspect.
05:49You look at the wide receiver room, beyond Nico Collins, suspect.
05:53Right?
05:53I mean –
05:54But I don't know that they believe that.
05:56I don't know that they believe –
06:07Yeah, we've got enough.
06:09We're locked and loaded to go make a run and win beyond the second round.
06:14There's just no way they –
06:15Now, they may look at it and go, hey, we're going to get better on defense.
06:17We're going to draft this defensive tackle,
06:18and we're going to make our strong point better,
06:20and we'll just win by not making mistakes.
06:23You don't think that they're sitting there thinking we've got Nico,
06:26we've got second-year Higgins, we've got second-year Noel,
06:28we've got Tank coming back, we've got Hutch.
06:30You don't think that they, in their minds, say we have enough –
06:34You don't even feel comfortable saying that.
06:35I'm not saying that I feel that way, Clint, but I –
06:38But you know better.
06:39But to say –
06:40But I do not think it is out of the realm of possibility
06:43that they think that is enough for what they want to do.
06:46Bro, you just rattled off five names.
06:49I know what I did.
06:50Right?
06:51One was not good enough to get on the field last year.
06:53Right?
06:54Hutch should not have even been in that conversation.
06:57And Tank Dale has been –
06:59I mean, his lower body has been, I mean,
07:03just ravaged over the last two years.
07:05Yeah, I mean, that's –
07:07But that is the problem.
07:08The fact that when we're having this conversation,
07:11like the names you rattle off, or anybody would rattle off,
07:15are names and you go, whoa, think about that.
07:18I mean, like you have –
07:19One, you have to really dig deep to figure out who's going to produce,
07:24who is it going to be, right?
07:25And then two, you have to really dig deep and hope and pray that they stay healthy.
07:31But I can see them thinking they're going to be able to produce
07:34to what they want them to do.
07:36Right.
07:36Or what they need them to do.
07:38Look, they're not going to be able to produce to do what the Rams do.
07:41They're going to tell everybody how much faith they have in Xavier Hutchinson
07:46and how these guys just put their nose down and grind.
07:50Here's the deal.
07:51We've talked a lot about Kenyon Sadiq in this draft.
07:53I mean, depending on –
07:55I don't think he's going to fall to even where he's in reach of the Texans.
07:58But if they are, I'd love for them to make a move.
08:00But you look at the pass catchers.
08:01We'll talk wide receivers real quick just because that's what Nick Casario talked about.
08:06Between Makai Lemon, Jordan Tyson, Carnell Tate, Denzel Boston, Omar Cooper Jr.,
08:12Casey Concepcion, one or maybe even two of those guys
08:15are going to be available if you just sit Pat.
08:18Right?
08:19I mean, they can add some firepower that I would say by mid-year
08:24are not a Neko-sized portion of this offense, but a big part of this offense.
08:30There's going to be that player will be out there.
08:32Now, we'll see if they sit tight and get him at 28 or if they move up.
08:35I think there's a chance they move up and get who they want.
08:38I don't have a ton of confidence.
08:42I think they think what they got is good enough for what they want to do.
08:48If they moved up, I'd be more inclined to think they saw a D-tackle, Tyler.
08:52They were like, whoo!
08:53I'd be okay with that.
08:54Got to have that son of a...
08:56I'd be okay with that.
08:57I don't care who it is.
08:58I think they think their offense is shaping up exactly the way they want it to.
