00:00All right, it looks like we are starting to see this roster get put together.
00:05If you missed it, yes, the Texans made several cuts on the 53-man roster,
00:12but they also, you could obviously understand,
00:16they did that with the anticipation of being able to get a lot of these guys back.
00:23And they've been able to sign some of their guys back.
00:28The most recent ones that we have right now, they were able to sign back
00:32DeRuar Jordan, Louis Bond, Jamal Hill, James Neal III, shout-out to you, Trey,
00:39and Josh Kelly, I'm just assuming that he's – Josh Kelly.
00:43So they've been able to sign those guys.
00:45And they also signed a defensive lineman, Dominic Bailey, to the practice squad.
00:50So they've been able to get a lot of those guys back.
00:53And those guys that they just signed back, I think you will see dress,
00:56and I think you'll potentially see dress in week one against the Bills.
01:01And I wouldn't be surprised if we start to see more starting to roll down.
01:06But that is the absolute latest.
01:08There are 713-572-4610.
01:11YouTube and Twitch, you can jump in and be a part of this show that way.
01:14And I posed this question to you on the other side,
01:18and I wanted to get some of your thoughts, and I see some people rolling in.
01:22And we've talked about this, Clint.
01:25The beginning of the season, the schedule – and this is the NFL, right?
01:31Right, Tyler?
01:32We're not really taking – well, it's still early approach as much as you would take it in baseball.
01:37Right?
01:39The Texans, you know, had a great second half of the season
01:45and an amazing response to starting out 0-3.
01:50But that is usually a death nail for your chances to get to the playoffs, starting off 0-3.
01:57It's a long season, man.
01:58And in this case, Clint, we've talked – their first four, three of them are against teams
02:05that believe they're AFC playoff contenders.
02:09I don't know about the Colts, but three of them that believe themselves they're AFC playoff contenders.
02:15And then the Cowboys, who believe they are NFC playoff contenders, right?
02:19Those are your first four, Bills, Bengals, Colts, and Cowboys.
02:24So those are four pretty good games.
02:28You could argue the Buffalo game is one of their top three toughest games, Bengals maybe two.
02:36So it is imperative they get off to a pretty good start, Clint, not only just, you know,
02:42for their playoff chances but also seeding in a situation like that, you know,
02:46when you've got those three AFC teams right there, you're playing.
02:49And you have watched, just like everybody listening, you've watched, you've listened to us,
02:54we've talked to you about – they've had multiple joint practices,
02:57one with Carolina most recently, in which they absolutely dominated,
03:00and one with the Raiders, which I would say they got the better of the Raiders.
03:03And then they had three preseason games, Chargers, Raiders, and Panthers.
03:09But the front line guys, at least offensively, Clint,
03:13only played the one series against the Raiders.
03:18And they did that without Nico, without David Montgomery, and without Dalton Schultz.
03:23But they had a 10-play drive for 69 yards, Tyler, and they scored a touchdown,
03:28and that was it.
03:29Some of the starting O-line played in the first game,
03:32but even that group was different from what looks like it's going to be the starter.
03:36Do you think what you've seen, they're going to be ready for this early part of the season
03:44and game one, the defense, they didn't play at all in the preseason.
03:48Do you think, through your mind, they're going to be ready for the Bills?
03:51Well, yeah.
03:53I mean, I think they're going to be ready.
03:54I think the defense is going to pick up right where they left off.
03:59And I think there's, you know, the jury's still out on the offense
04:02of what exactly Nick Kaley is, what is, you know,
04:07what's the offensive identity going to look like?
04:08Can they run the football?
04:09What's the offensive line look like?
04:11I mean, I would argue that offensively,
04:14that I'm no more confident in this offense right now than I was last year
04:22when they were, I mean, look, they won, what, 10 straight?
04:24So, I mean, obviously they were doing some good things.
04:27I'm no more confident right now based on what I've seen than I was last year
04:33when they were in the middle of winning 10 games straight.
04:37So, I feel better.
04:39I mean, I feel like they've made some strides.
04:42But, I mean, let's be honest.
04:43You've had joint practices against two bottom third, bottom half for damn sure,
04:49I would say, of the NFL.
04:51And I know Carolina made the playoffs last year.
04:54But, like, it's, I mean, I don't even know if they're favorites
04:57in their division this year.
04:58They're not that good of a football team, if we're being completely honest.
05:01So, you know.
05:02Their front line guys have not played a lot.
05:05Who are you talking about?
05:05Just the Texans.
05:06Oh, yeah.
05:07No, yeah.
05:07So, I mean, that's what I'm saying.
05:08Like, you don't, you, not only that, but you even joint practice against teams
05:13that you should dominate.
05:14And so, I don't really know what to gather from that, if we're being completely honest.
05:19So, I just hope that we don't hear early season, first month of the season, you know,
05:27guys haven't played much football.
05:29I just hope we're not hearing that.
05:30I hope we're beyond that.
05:31Yeah.
05:32Now, the Bills, I will say this.
05:34Their first unit, they played the first game of the preseason.
05:37Their offense played, and their offense and defense played two series.
05:40And then, their starters never returned back.
05:44They didn't play the final two preseason games.
05:47Josh Allen and company didn't play the final two preseason games.
05:50So, maybe it's pretty close.
05:52It should be, you would think, maybe around the same amount of rust or equal level of play
06:02from their top guys.
06:04But, I am, it will be interesting to see how they look with the amount of game time
06:12they've played with each other.
06:14Again, like we said on the offensive side, the defense, only Reed Blankenship is the only
06:19starter you would think is a starter.
06:22Him and Clowney, like, those are the only two guys that have played.
06:25And then, Nico and Montgomery.
06:27And, again, not saying that they, you should force them into it, but it will, you wonder
06:33if this was a slow, because last year was a bit of a slow start, right?
06:36Especially for the offense scoring nine points, and it was a new offense.
06:40Yeah, we'll see.
06:42Well, it's important, it's important that they get off to an early, a good early start.
06:45Look, it's all about the offense.
06:47I mean, defensively, even, not even taking into account the fact that our defense is a
06:51great defense or expected to be a generational defense.
06:53Forget that.
06:53But, just like, defensive football is see ball, get ball, be physical.
06:58And that is wired into the DNA of majority of the guys that are, if not all of the guys
07:03that are on the defensive side of the football.
07:06Offense is a different animal.
07:07There's so many, I mean, it's so much more difficult, you know, to play good football
07:12offensively than it is defensively.
07:14And so, you know, that part of it, I think, is the jury's still out on whether they're ready
07:20or not.
07:20Yeah, you're right.
07:20This is an offensive thing.
07:21I think the defense, you feel comfortable that they will adjust to whatever happens
07:25on the field.
07:26The offense, we'll see what happens when some of these teams potentially try to take away
07:32what it is that they want to do.
07:33But, we'll see.
07:34But the good thing is, it's not like the Bills have been playing, like they played multiple
07:39preseason games with their starters and their guys have been out there.
07:42They've played together.
07:43There's some newness there, too, with the new head coach and a new defensive coordinator
07:47there.
07:47So...
