00:00Bill Barnwell for ESPN, he was going through the first round talking about
00:07trades in the draft that could happen, ones that he's looked at that could
00:13happen, and one that he drummed up, and you'd love this one, Clint, is he is
00:18making a hypothetical trade package between the Texans and the Carolina
00:23Panthers that could send this.
00:28The Texans, they would receive the 19th pick, they would flip the 28th and the
00:3419th pick, the Panthers would get the 28th, they would get the 19th, they would
00:37also give up their second, second round pick, number 59, and then a fourth, 106,
00:43so 28, 59, 106, they would then get 19 to move up those spots, and then get a third
00:51and a six, the third is pick 83, so another top 100 pick, and Bill Barnwell says he
00:57would connect the Texans potentially to Kenyon Sadiq, the tight end out of Oregon, moving
01:04up to 19 to try to go get the tight end, 7, 1, 3, 5, 7, 2, 4, 6, 10,
01:10would you push that
01:13button, would you hit that?
01:15Right now.
01:16I know you, I know you.
01:17Absolutely.
01:18One, I really, I like the kid.
01:20I mean, I think, I think he's a perfect fit for where I believe the Texans offense is,
01:24is as you mentioned in the cross talk, and you've mentioned several times over the last
01:28month, the four is really high for the Texans, right?
01:32Enough of them solid moves.
01:34All right.
01:35Now, an aggressive move to go get an explosive weapon for your quarterback, which by the way,
01:41compliments your $12 million tight end that you already have in a beautiful manner.
01:46Um, and, you know, what it would mean on several fronts, all the ones I just mentioned, along
01:53with, if the Texans went out and got aggressive in this draft and moved up in the draft to any
01:58degree to get a weapon, I think, I think it would, it would signal, you know, what they're
02:05up to and what they're trying to, what they want to look like offensively.
02:08At least they would be acknowledging the fact that they, they lack that, that explosiveness
02:12in the past game and in the past catcher rooms, if all, all around, if you will, um, right
02:18now, I think you look at the Texans, look at the moves they've made.
02:21It's pretty obvious what they want to do.
02:22They want to ground and pound, right?
02:24They want to fix some problems up front.
02:26They want to move mass up front.
02:27They want to, they want to ground and pound between the tackles.
02:29They want to be better in short yards.
02:30They want to be better in the red zone.
02:32All right.
02:32Now, uh, then that's not based off what they've said.
02:35That's based off the moves that they've made, right?
02:37Don't, don't listen to what they say.
02:38Listen, watch the moves that they make.
02:39If they went out there and made a move like that, got aggressive in the draft, which I
02:43think they positioned themselves this year to do, you don't need 15 draft picks.
02:47I mean, you position yourself to move up and go get an athlete.
02:50And if they then went and done it, then I think it tells us as fans, like, okay, they
02:54see what we see is there's a, there's a need for, um, an explosive weapon on this team.
03:00And they just went and made that move.
03:01That's a, uh, that's a really good point.
03:04Uh, champ slice it.
03:05Sure.
03:05Why not?
03:06I think, uh, we got about a solid year or two left in Schultz, which would give Sadiq time
03:13to develop.
03:14Um, but I think you said something in that really good.
03:18We talked about it.
03:19We talked about it in the, uh, in the pre-show, uh, cross talk with the fellas from in the
03:24loop.
03:26The Texans at this point with their roster and I've said it, their floor is really good.
03:33What the Texans need now.
03:35And I know some people will think about it and think like, well, hold on.
03:39They've got, they've got several of those guys, but especially on the, the offensive side of
03:43the ball, they need, they, they don't need more solid player.
03:48They need some difference makers like more than they like.
03:52I think if you give Nick and D'Amico, especially Nick, especially late in the draft, you give
04:00him seven draft picks.
04:01I think he will get four or five guys that will contribute and raise the floor of this
04:06team.
04:06But as opposed to getting seven draft picks, if they got one difference maker on the offensive
04:13side of the ball and just flopped on a couple of others, like the way this team is set up
04:18right now, that, that, that is almost what they need more than just, all right, let's
04:23just keep, let's just keep adding solid pieces, keep adding solid pieces.
04:26They need one of these guys on the offensive side of the ball to be another Nico, to be
04:32another big time player.
04:33Cause right now I feel like offensively they just have the, the one right now.
04:40Well, yeah, Rami right now.
04:42I'm talking, I'm talking about, I'm talking about across the board, like offensively, whatever
04:46position you think of, how many players do they have that are great players?
04:50I think they have one.
04:53Well, I mean, you, you've got one that's factored into a, an opponent's defensive game plan.
04:57I can tell you that.
04:59Like nobody's, nobody's worried about Higgins.
05:03You know, nobody's worried about Dalton Schultz.
05:05Nobody's worried about Woody Marks.
05:07And by the way, I'm not talking about what they're capable of doing.
05:10I'm not saying these guys aren't capable of being playmaker.
05:13What I'm saying is in this offense with Nick Kaley on the ones and twos and the way that
05:18it seems like D'Amico Rhines wants to, wants to play offensive football.
05:22There's one guy right now.
05:23I mean, hell, I'll, I'll, I'll even go out and let me, I'm going to surprise nobody that
05:26I said it, but some people may disagree.
05:28I mean, ain't nobody worried about CJ Stroud.
05:31The way that they're asked, the way that he's being asked to play football and the way
05:35that they're, that they, you know, they work their, their past catchers.
05:38Um, and the way that, that, that they're kind of operating offensively.
05:42I mean, the only one that you worry about busting a game wide open is, is Nico.
05:46So on.
05:47I mean, and, and, and, and, and the only way he's really going to do that.
05:50It's not like, like CJ's not out there forcing the football to him.
05:53Hell, like I said, he averaged like four targets the last five games of the year or something
05:56like that.
05:56I mean, four, four catches the last five games of the year or something like that.
05:59So, I mean, it's not like, you know, you got to look and go, boy, well, CJ's just, CJ's
06:03going to throw this thing up to him and he's going to go make plays.
06:05No, they're not going to do that.
06:06They've got, they just have to get more elite players, close to elite players.
06:13Cause right now on the offensive side of the ball, how many guys, Clinton, Tyler, do you
06:19say you look on the off?
06:20Cause we can do it on the defensive side of the ball.
06:22I can name about seven guys on the defensive side of the ball for the Texans that I think
06:27could, could have a chance to make the pro bowl.
06:29How many guys on the offensive side of the ball right now?
06:33Do you look at, I'm talking at any position.
06:34I'm not just talking skills.
06:36How many guys would you say could make the pro bowl?
06:39Like you look over there and you think like legit or this alternate thing.
06:43No, no legit.
06:44Make the first pro bowl.
06:45Legit.
06:46I think it's Nico.
06:47I think Nico, I think Dalton Schultz could have a career.
06:49That's a, that Dalton's a pro.
06:51I was going to say, but he ain't, he ain't scaring nobody, but he, but he could have a career
06:54year.
06:54And he had a career year this year and didn't make it right off the bat.
06:58Right.
06:59So I got, they just got to get more players like that.
07:03So I say that to say, yeah, they could hold on to some of these picks and just continue
07:10to grow the floor.
07:11But as someone texts in, how could Sadiq fit into this offense?
07:14He's not a, uh, he's not a, an in in line tight end.
07:18Well, the same way that, that Travis Kelsey could fit into an office, the same way that
07:25any talented tight end that can make plays in the passing game can fit in it.
07:29Well, I don't have one right now.
07:31I don't disagree with the overall point of the texture though.
07:33You know, when you're, you're in a, I think you could go get a, you could go get a, like
07:38they did last year, uh, essentially a sixth offensive lineman along with Dalton Schultz.
07:43And you've got a complimentary piece.
07:44Like you could get a, a, a tight end.
07:47That is, that is a bigger bodied offensive line esque type tight end.
07:52And he would compliment Dalton Schultz.
07:54Well, and to the Texans point, that may be what the Texans do.
07:57That may be what they plan on doing is, is bringing some guys that aren't, aren't near
08:01the pass catcher near the threat that Dalton Schultz is, but they're going to be better in
08:05a run game and they'll compliment Dalton Schultz.
08:08I just don't know that, that they, they're going to commit.
08:13I mean, that is a, that would be a, if Dalton Schultz, I mean, let's be honest, Jordan, um,
08:20Brevin Jordan is, is clearly the most athletic tight end, right?
08:25He hadn't been able to stay healthy long enough to sell a Jersey, but, but at the end of the
08:29day, if Dalton Schultz is, is really your most athletic tight end that you're, that's getting
08:34constant run time, play time, then, then you, you lack explosiveness, right?
08:40But they may very well go with a bigger body blocking tight end and compliment.
08:44And they could, that, that, that would, that would be on brand for these guys, but I would
08:47like for him to go get a weapon.
08:48Joker ran a four, three, um, and it's a good look.
08:51And he is athletic.
08:52Yeah.
08:53No, I just think they got to find more guys and I'm not saying he's a home run immediately,
08:57but they, they've got a, they've got the, it's to me more impactful for them to find
09:02guys that are, that have a chance to be pro bowl level guys.
09:05Cause I just think they're lacking that right now on the offensive side of the ball.
