00:00Anthony Davis, a wizard since February when they traded for him,
00:06held a press conference yesterday.
00:09And, you know, there were parts of it that I think for fans of the team,
00:15and I'm one of them, were questionable, if not a little bit off-putting.
00:21He talked about, I didn't feel that way.
00:24I felt overall it was a good vibe.
00:26He's positive, really positive about a lot of the young players,
00:29positive about the front office, about Michael Winger and Will Dawkins.
00:35And, you know, it's just one of those things.
00:38I guess there are certain things he could have said,
00:40and I've talked about some of those things already.
00:42But, you know, a David Aldridge question about sort of his current mindset
00:48on being here next year specifically, he said,
00:52well, I'm here next year, I'm under contract, and I love money.
00:56He had also said, but I want to play for a contender.
00:59Earlier.
01:00And then he said, you know, I don't want this to happen again,
01:03but we need to figure things out.
01:05You know, a friend of mine texted me during the break,
01:10and he said, you know, this is the NBA today.
01:13You're 100% right.
01:14And I talked about this on my podcast last night.
01:17There's so much player involvement, if not player influence.
01:22It's a player's league.
01:24They run things like no other league, in part because they're only five at a time
01:30on the court for one team.
01:32And so their impact in terms of wins and losses is felt more so than it is in almost any
01:41other sport.
01:42Obviously, the quarterback positions are rather big deal.
01:46A pitcher, an elite pitcher can really impact that, but he's only out there once every five nights.
01:51But, yeah, it's today's NBA.
01:54NBA, sorry, but players get players that they want when they are a superstar.
02:00If he's talking about we've got to get things figured out and it's a coach
02:04and it's a couple of other friends of his that he thinks can help them win next year
02:09and the year after, the Wizards may have to, you know, help out a little bit.

04:56Hey, Kevin, one, one of the things I was trying to figure out, what, what was he talking about?
05:01About we need to figure out, we need to figure things out that the league has already figured him out.
05:06Anyway, every team has figured him out.
05:09You don't see anyone clamoring, trying to get to this guy.
05:12This guy has a lot to prove at his age, what he has, what he has literally done to, literally
05:18done to his career by, by taking that many games off.
05:22Many, many, many times he's taking games off.
05:25I don't believe he's hurt.
05:26I don't believe he's sick.
05:27I don't believe anything's wrong, uh, right with him.
05:30But the fact of the matter is, if he does, if he stays here and does well, get rid of
05:36him next year.
05:36Cause he's going to fall right back into doing what he wants to do, how he wants to do it.
05:41And we'd be back at square one again.
05:45Yeah.
05:46So all of those things are true.
05:49And at the same time, when he has played, the teams that he's played on have been, you know, especially,
05:56you know, in, in Los Angeles, they've been championship caliber.
06:00And so I'm not suggesting they're going to be championship caliber if he plays 65 games next year.
06:06But I am suggesting, and I said this the day they made this trade, that if he has one of
06:12those seasons, like he had in 2023, 2024, where he played in 76 games, uh, if he has one of
06:20those seasons, we're going to, we're going to be a 45 to 50 game winner next year.
06:25And we're going to be a four to six seed somewhere in that range.
06:29And that's a big deal for the development, uh, of all of these young players to play in big games.
06:36I'm not sure that you can even evaluate players playing in regular season games, let alone meaningless regular season games,
06:42which is what's been happening here for three years.
06:45You got to get to these post-season games and with him, if he plays, maybe you're right.
06:50If he plays 65 next year and they win 48 games and they win a series, maybe that's the time
06:56to deal them because the odds probably don't favor him playing that many games the following year.
07:02Um, but they've already made this trade.
07:05And so now the only way for it to work out is for him to hit an inside straight here
07:10in terms of health and be upright and, you know, contribute to not only a season that helps all of
07:16these young players develop, but puts this franchise back into a conversation.
07:21They've not been a part of the conversation, not only, you know, around the league, but they're dead last in
07:28our town.
07:28I mean, they are so far at the bottom right now of relevance when it comes to our sports teams
07:35and that can't continue.
07:38Um, that's not a good thing for, for that to continue for the organization.
