00:00The Patriots are in a legitimately fascinating situation because they've, you know, they've sped up this rebuild, but there's still
00:07seem cognizant of probably we're not in a position to get back to the Super Bowl next year, but we
00:13are in a very good place.
00:15Now, you're picking at 31, so there's two schools of thought. Do you go for need because we want a
00:23guy that can fill a starting slot now because we're competitive, or do you at that stage of the draft
00:29go, I want the best player available? Do you have a guy ranked far and away ahead of other people
00:34that you're willing to trade up for?
00:36There's a lot. Where do you think they land? Do you go best player available at 31, which could be
00:42a tackle, and then that's interesting, or are they drafting for need at this point?
00:49A lot depends on how the night plays out, but given the way this draft has kind of started to
00:55come together, and given the needs at least perceived or real of this team, and given some of the prospects
01:01that are out there,
01:02they're going to take a lineman if they stick at 31, either an offensive lineman or a defensive lineman. I
01:07don't know if it's going to be a tackle. I don't know if it's going to be an edge guy,
01:10but they are going to reinforce the trenches when it comes to that pick.
01:15They're going to take a guy up front on either side of the ball. The only guy who they might
01:21be inclined to trade up for, who's kind of a sexy name, is Kenyon Sadiq, the tight end out of
01:25Oregon,
01:26who is probably going to go in the middle of the first round, but if he starts to fall for
01:31some unexpected reason, the Patriots might be inclined to trade up.
01:34But my first thought is that, given, again, the way everything's kind of coming together, they're going to go lineman
01:40in the first round.
01:41Yeah, Sadiq is interesting because he's like a freak, an athletic freak with size and speed, not a tremendous amount
01:48of production.
01:49So you're kind of foreshadowing what he could be.
01:52Always a dangerous thing.
01:54But it's funny because the Patriots now are in a place that if they took him, which is really a
02:02compliment to the organization, if they took him, I'd be like, he's going to be good.
02:06Yeah, like they're one of the teams that you think they have, like if the 49ers take him, he's going
02:11to be good.
02:11You know what I'm saying?
02:12There's some organizations.
02:13Rams, there are a few.
02:15I understand what you're saying.
02:16Right, the Rams with their one pick they've ever taken.
02:18I know, but the one guy they got, Jared Verse, was a home run.
02:21Well, yeah, they got Nakua.
02:22I mean, they've done a lot of good work.
02:24So that is a compliment to the organization that if they took a kid that it's based on projection other
02:29than on the field stats, that you would trust them.
02:32Yeah, you get Kenny and Sadiq with a guy like Josh McDaniels and his history of working with multiple tight
02:38ends.
02:39You figure that Hunter Henry is maybe a year or two away.
02:42He's in the last year of his current deal.
02:44You need to reinforce that position anyway.
02:46You need to get more depth at tight end.
02:48Even if they don't go out and get Sadiq, I still think that there are guys in the second, day
02:52two and day three, that can provide a little bit more depth there.
02:54But, yeah, Sadiq is the guy who I think they would be most inclined to trade up for if he
02:59starts to slide.
