00:15The time has come for the clash of giants.
00:19Tyson Fury said he has fired 500 rounds for his fifth comeback.
00:23He said he didn't lose his speed and reactions.
00:26Round one is 255th as a pro, Mahmoudov's first round is 70th as a pro.
00:34Scheduled for 12 rounds in the heavyweight division.
00:39Referee is Mark Bates and let's hope he has a better night tonight
00:44than he did last weekend, refereeing Deontay Wilder and Derek Chisora.
00:52And again, Mahmoudov dangerous early, but
00:56already on the attack.
01:01Very positive start from Mahmoudov.
01:04Doesn't look phased, doesn't look intimidated by the magnitude of it here.
01:10He's coming in like he always does.
01:14Mahmoudov is the type of guy that if Tyson Fury isn't who he once was,
01:18if he isn't physically and mentally where he needs to be,
01:22Mahmoudov will expose him.
01:24A combined weight of 532 pounds.
01:29The record weight for a fight in the UK, 630.
01:32Eric Butterbean Ash was 363.
01:35Shane Wallace was 267 when they boxed at Wembley in 2001.
01:40And the Russian Lion looking to put Fury in another bear hug,
01:45which of course, not exactly according to the Marcus of Queensbury rules.
01:51Mahmoudov doesn't have a lot of different gears, but the gear he has is a strong.
01:55Yeah, limited adaptability, but he's coming straight ahead,
01:59smothering Tyson Fury in the corner.
02:01Come on, she's got it.
02:02Tyson Fury's comfortable in this zone, getting inside, pulling and pushing.
02:07He's very strong inside,
02:09Moudov is looking at landing one of these big hooks.
02:12But Tyson's seen it over full.
02:14And Fury, of course, returning after a near 16 month layoff,
02:18his only two losses coming courtesy of the best heavyweight on the planet,
02:23Alexander Usyk.
02:24But even in those two fights, Fury had his moments.
02:27Yeah, Fury's gonna have his moments.
02:28He's still got a lot left in the tank.
02:30And the reason why Mahmoudov is having some success right now is because Tyson Fury's
02:35not doing what he just did, not taking a walk around the block and
02:39making Mahmoudov turn his feet if you go straight back like Tyson Fury's doing.
02:44Mahmoudov will charge you right into the ropes and hit you with a good shot.
02:47David Fury was knocked down in the ninth round of the Usyk fight.
02:50He's been down eight times in his career and
02:54probably has the best recuperative powers I have seen in boxing.
02:59And he's never been stopped, and I will never forget the night in Los Angeles in
03:03the 12th round when Deontay Wilder flagged him out.
03:07And all of a sudden he popped up like the WWE's Undertaker.
03:11I remember everyone was in shock, including Deontay Wilder.
03:14He couldn't even celebrate like the fight was over.
03:16But you're right, he can recover.
03:18And the recovery skills do dwindle as you get older.
03:22But Tyson's not looking at taking those big shots from Mahmoudov.
03:26As you can see it, all of the assaults coming from Mahmoudov are very crude.
03:31His head's coming in, he's probably gonna get worn, maybe have a point taken off.
03:36He's not a very cultured boxer, he's just a big, strong, rough, tough fighter.
03:41Tyson's looking at taking the steam out of him.
03:43And then he's gonna put a boxing masterclass on,
03:46like he did right at the end of that round.
03:49Started having a little bounce.
03:51He's getting into his boat now.
03:52Many luminaries on hand, and look who we've got here.
03:56The Rest is Football are in the house.
03:59You can catch them every day this summer on Netflix
04:02as they debate the biggest moments on football's biggest stage in NYC.
04:08Good to see Gary Lineker and Micah Richards, the host of The Rest is Football.
04:13And we're here in this football stadium, home of the Tottenham Hotspurs.
04:18But tonight, it's home- You gotta fight him first, though, don't wait, man,
04:21to take charge and start stepping first.
04:23So you see him right there?
04:29Good right hand right there from Mahmoudov, and
04:31that's because, as I mentioned, Tyson Fury is going straight back.
04:35You gotta hit a corner.
04:37You gotta turn the corner when you're facing a hard charging guy like that.
04:40Round two.
04:41And don't allow him to line up his power just the way that he did.
04:45And that's how Tyson Fury's half-brother Tommy Fury watching with a little
04:49distress, so some adversity for Tyson Fury in the first round, David.
04:53Yeah, gave the first round to Mahmoudov just for his sheer effort.
04:56He landed the bigger shots.
04:57Tyson landed one uppercut there and a few chads.
05:00But Tyson gives the first round away most of the time just to get a feel.
05:05And Fury has been known to seamlessly switch from orthodox to self-paw.
05:10He can go from a long-range boxer to showing that crunk gym aggression.
05:15And yes, much despite the fact he claimed he trained himself,
05:19Silverhawk Steward, his corner man for a while, has been in the corner.
05:23And of course, Andre, a photo of this magnitude coming back again.
05:26You don't wanna be alone.
05:27Yeah, you gotta have another set of eyes, another opinion in there.
05:30You don't wanna just trust yourself because fighters will either under-train or
05:35overtrain, and you'll miss things that a trainer will catch.
05:38And Mahmoudov continues to come straight forward in linear fashion.
05:43What you see is what you get from Mahmoudov.
05:46Through the sorts, throwing punches when the punch isn't there.
05:51Yeah, but you see, every time Tyson Fury picks up his jab and he throws it sharp and hard,
05:57Mahmoudov throws knuckles.
05:59Mahmoudov, as we mentioned, most dangerous in the opening chapters,
06:02while Fury's superior feet, ring IQ, clinchcraft, gas tank, and adaptability,
06:08well, that should widen the gap the longer it goes.
06:12The operative word being should.
06:14Tyson Fury doesn't need to wrestle with Mahmoudov right now.
06:17That's his game.
06:18He needs to keep the fight right where it is right now.
06:20In the center of the ring, fainting, looking like he's gonna do something,
06:24then coming behind the jack and landing ones and twos early.
06:27As the fight progresses, you can put together threes and fours.
06:31You don't ever want to overlook the opponent in front of you,
06:34but as we have heard throughout the night, plans are in place.
06:38Should Fury win tonight to finally face Anthony Joshua
06:43in the biggest domestic fight in British history?
06:45But right now, he's in against a guy looking to knock his block off,
06:50Arslanbek Mahmoudov.
06:53Fury's not a big body puncher, but his body shots are open,
06:56because Mahmoudov is throwing wide shots, and when he misses,
07:00his torso, his liver are wide open.
07:03Fury's gotta recognize that.
07:05Ajit Kavayel really showed how to beat Mahmoudov, and it's the counter punches.
07:10He's getting underneath and around his big food shots and countering.
07:15Yeah, Fury had great success with the body shots in that first fight with Usyk.
07:20And you're right, he wants to look to both of them should be making the deposit.
07:24Now Fury turns the tables on Mahmoudov momentarily,
07:29as he played the Matador to the Mahmoudov bolt.
07:34That's bad Tyson Fury when he goes straight back.
07:37He needs to get the angle, that's good Tyson Fury, what you just saw right there.
07:40He punched, and he took a walk around the block, Mahmoudov threw nothing back.
07:44Mahmoudov looks like he's feeling the pace.
07:46He looks like he's really feeling the pace.
07:48He's a very dangerous man early, but he starts to fall apart when he gets tired.
07:56Get your breathing.
07:58Let's get that breathing.
08:00Come on, take a big breath.
08:01I like when he charges you one time, you're just staying up in there.
08:04That breaks his momentum up from coming forward so much.
08:07Let's get your breathing.
08:12Take a breath, brother, take a breath.
08:14That's it.
08:15Try to find your little poke right on inside when you get in there.
08:18If you gotta just push it like a button, you're tired out already, okay?
08:24You see it, right?
08:25Just take your time.
08:26I'm timing it out, you're not.
08:27Yeah, just take your time, make sure you're all on balance.
08:30One, two, get out, ain't no standing there.
08:33Tyson Fury throwing that one, two.
08:35Mahmoudov landed a shot, but Tyson Fury also landed a left shot.
08:38And it's gonna be like that.
08:39When you're exchanging as heavyweights, there's gonna be some give and take.
08:43But Tyson got more than he took in those exchanges.
08:47Sugarhill Steward, disciple of the late great Emmanuel Steward,
08:52the legendary trainer at Clunk Gym in Detroit.
08:55And the greatest quote in boxing history came from Emmanuel Steward.
09:07As strong as Mahmoudov is and as hard as he punches,
09:11when Tyson Fury starts to put some flavor into that food, into that dish,
09:15Mahmoudov doesn't know what to do.
09:17When he fates him, when he turns southpaw, when he's flicking the jab,
09:21throwing quick fast shots, Mahmoudov is in school.
09:25He's mesmerized by the speed.
09:27Tyson Fury has to keep this up.
09:28Tyson, I think, was willing to give him the first couple of rounds,
09:33letting him blow off, going backwards in straight lines,
09:36knowing that Mahmoudov was gonna come to unload.
09:39Because that's all Mahmoudov's really had is this, coming forward,
09:42boring forward with his head.
09:45Once that initial gas is gone from Mahmoudov, Tyson can then relax and
09:50start playing with him.
09:51Mark Ramsey, longtime Canadian trainer, the chief second for Mahmoudov.
09:56He and his family moved to Montreal nine years ago.
10:00His wife, and he had two daughters and a son, so Mahmoudov looking to secure his family's future.
10:08And, boy, would it be secure with a win over two-ton heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
10:16A minute and a half left in the third, Fury back to South Park.
10:20One of the hardest things that Tyson Fury has to do is just stay focused.
10:23It's not taking the power or dealing with the strength of Mahmoudov.
10:26It's staying focused, doing what he needs to do, rinse and repeat, and start it all over again.
10:32How many times have we seen momentary lapses cost Tyson Fury?
10:37Well, that all fighters can have momentary lapses.
10:39He just can't have one against this guy tonight.
10:46Two scraping heavy body shots and one to the face from Tyson Fury.
10:50He's unloading now as Mahmoudov tries desperately to hold on.
10:55Fury trying to punch out.
10:56That's where Mahmoudov thought he wanted to be, and now Tyson Fury is dominating that section of the fight too.
11:02Really unloading with a big body assault, Tyson slowing down the big man.
11:08Really is chopping him down.
11:11Tyson's getting a real good groove right now.
11:14Yeah, he's starting to enjoy it now.
11:15This is Tyson Fury's zone here.
11:19There you go.
11:23Mahmoudov doesn't have a plan B.
11:30Did he have a plan A?
11:32He did, and it's a strong one.
11:34But Tyson Fury made the adjustment, and right now Mahmoudov hasn't made one himself.
11:45So as we come to the
11:47the end of the round, let's check in with Anna Woolhouse and a very interested onlooker.
11:53Indeed.
11:54I'm sat next door to Anthony Joshua.
11:55Anthony, really good to see you back here ringside at Tottenham.
11:59How does it feel being back?
12:00It's amazing.
12:02The UK fans have come out to see Tyson Fury,
12:06Conor Venn, Regis Progre, TKV, Reactpour.
12:10It's been a really good undercard.
12:12I'm enjoying it.
12:13It's actually thrilling here as well, so boxing's thriving in the UK.
12:17But we all know you're probably here on a spying mission.
12:21His Excellency Turkey Al-Alge, we know, we know, we know.
12:24I'm not that much of a good spy on the front row.
12:27But I got my eyes on the prize 100%.
12:29You know what I'm here for.
12:30It's been a long time coming.
12:32He's been out in the ring for a long time, and this is his welcome back.
12:35And he'll be in the deep end really soon.
12:37What's the plan?
12:38Is it planned to fight Fury next, or are you going to have a fight in between?
12:41The plan is right hand left hook, right hand left hook until starting connects.
12:44And boom, I'm a very, very powerful guy, strong guy, and I'm hungry.
12:49It's good to see you back, and hopefully see you in the ring.
12:51I've been very well, thank you.
12:53Thank you for asking.
12:55Always a class act, Anthony Joshua showing some respect to our reporter,
12:59Hannah Wilhousen.
13:00Yes, everyone waiting to see what happens in this main event as Mahmouda
13:05clipped Fury with the left hand, but Fury took it.
13:08Yeah, that's that plan A I was talking about.
13:10It's still in effect if Tyson Fury gets off his game.
13:14Or if Mahmouda was able to step up his game.
13:17The more the rounds go on, the more chance Tyson's got of stopping Mahmouda.
13:24Mahmouda unloading on Fury, they clinch and
13:27Mahmouda should have an edge, maybe a wrestling background.
13:30He's from Dagestan, and of course, UFC legend Aviv Nurmagomedov from those parts.
13:35And if it's one thing a Dagestani knows, it's how to wrestle.
13:39But this is a boxing match.
13:46If this is Mahmouda when he's fresh in the first few rounds,
13:51what is his style like in round seven, eight, and nine?
13:55And now the exchange.
13:58We talked about that focus around the tour golf and Tyson Fury.
14:02Mahmouda is having success because Tyson Fury put the car on cruise control.
14:08He stopped jabbing, he stopped feinting, and he stopped coming forward for
14:12Mahmouda felt emboldened to do what he did, and that's why he landed the shot.
14:16Tyson Fury needs to take the car off of cruise control and get back to work.
14:21And again, makes McRudolph mitts, and then makes him pay before putting him in a guillotine.
14:27A guillotine joke.
14:29That'll be on display at Netflix May 16th when MVP presents MMA on May 16th with the much
14:38awaited, long awaited fight between Ronda Rousey and Chino Carano, but here we have the heavyweights,
14:43the clash of giants, and Fury attacking the body in the clinch.
14:48Tyson looks like he's actually enjoying it in there.
14:50He looks like he's really kind of getting into the flow.
14:53It's been a long time turning the shots over.
14:58Nice one-two from Tyson Fury.
15:00Mahmouda can probably take the shot that he sees coming from Tyson Fury,
15:04but he might not be able to take the shot that he doesn't see coming.
15:06Coming into this fight, Mahmouda's opponents have landed 47% of their power punches.
15:12Anything over 40% offensively is good. If it's a defensive stat, not so good.
15:19Tyson giving us a wink there, looking down after he lands that big right hook to the body.
15:24He knew it was a good shot.
15:26And Fury opening up a big lead in terms of punches landed,
15:31but Mahmouda swinging for those proverbial fences.
15:35And it's not the most aesthetically pleasing.
15:38Leaves a lot of space, a big lane in between.
15:41I got to remember that Tyson Fury's been off for 16 months,
15:44so he's literally shaking rust right before our eyes.
15:55Three, three.
15:58So, Nick, all right, remember when we work on that, Jim.
16:01Try to be first on job. Don't let this guy,
16:03because now he's comfortable.
16:04Jump, jump, jump. Don't let this guy jump, okay?
16:08Even, you don't need perfect jab. You don't need, you can jump low.
16:11I don't care. You're far.
16:13Make sure you're first, and you will try you after.
16:16Now you can attack.
16:17In the sense, go up, go up, go up, go up.
16:19Now go.
16:20Yes.
16:21Veteran trainer Mark Ramsey wants Mahmouda to utilize his stick
16:26and take away Fury's jab.
16:28The way he does that is by applying pressure and being willing to get hit with the first jab,
16:33pressing forward past that, and when Tyson Fury opens up, he has to punch with Tyson Fury.
16:39You have to know your strengths, you have to know your weaknesses,
16:41and you have to play to your strengths, and Mahmouda is the physically stronger guy,
16:46but Tyson Fury is the more skillful fighter.
16:48Fifth round underway.
16:50Ten years ago, Mahmouda had a photo taken with Tyson Fury,
16:54and he's hoping that the end result tonight will be picture perfect, no filter required,
17:00as though these two behemoths toe-to-toe, Fury trying to find his rhythm,
17:06trying to use those legs, but they're 37-year-old legs that haven't been used for over a year and
17:12a half.
17:12One, two, three.
17:20Body attack from Fury, framing now, using his forearm to create separation.
17:26But Mahmouda has to work in there and not hold.
17:29When you have Tyson Fury resting or along the ropes, you have to bang to the body.
17:33You have to rip short uppercuts.
17:35While you have the more elusive man stationary, take full advantage.
17:40David Fury looking to establish that long jab, but it's jab and grab, baby.
17:48It doesn't look like he's in any type of stress in there.
17:51It looks like he's happy.
17:53It's a 12-round fight.
17:55There's no need to rush.
17:56Every round that goes by, the gas tank of Mahmouda goes down.
18:00And yet, at times, Fury looking like the man he conquered for
18:03the heavyweight championship, the first time, second longest reign,
18:06Vladimir Klitschko known for the jab and grab.
18:09And for Fury, why not?
18:10Land the punch and then do what you can to stymie the return.
18:13If he tries to take Mahmouda out now, when he's still relatively fresh,
18:18there's a little bit of danger.
18:20Drag the fight out, break him down, tie him up, get into the later rounds,
18:25where he's a softer target.
18:26Oh, Mahmouda.
18:28Every time Mahmouda swings and misses, he gets more tired.
18:32Think about it, fellas.
18:33Tyson Fury's been off for 16 months.
18:35AJ may be next.
18:37Tyson Fury needs rounds.
18:38Yes, and his wife looking on.
18:40That's Paris Fury.
18:42Season two of At Home with the Furies begins streaming tomorrow on Netflix.
18:48Married couple, father of seven.
18:53Last minute here at the fifth, and Mahmouda coming forward, lumbering forward is probably
18:59a more apt description.
19:02Good shot there, turned it, turned over nicely inside.
19:06As Mahmouda was looking at, just resting.
19:10He's not looking at his phone like he was looking at the press conference.
19:13Exactly.
19:16As the speed difference right there, Mahmouda's looking at holding any time.
19:20He's exhausted in there.
19:21He's feeling the pace.
19:22Tyson can feel his tightness, and he just keeps touching the body.
19:27He's tenderizing him in there.
19:32Final ten seconds of the fifth, another jab from Fury.
19:36And Mahmouda just wide, looping punches that are not finding their targets.
19:43And the seconds tick away.
19:54You're doing all the damage.
19:56That's smart boxing.
19:58You ain't got to be pulling back, putting yourself in no damn danger.
20:02My mom said we ain't buying you to the top.
20:04Finally caught him with a little uppercut.
20:06Yeah.
20:07All it takes is patience.
20:10Patience.
20:10Patience.
20:11Patience.
20:11Once you're inside, just be patient.
20:13The shot's going to open up when you want it to.
20:14Because you're controlling your shots in the rhythm.
20:18It's time for the big uppercut.
20:21So you see you pulling back, you're hitting him hard too.
20:24Yeah.
20:24That was the shot.
20:25Turning it over inside when Mahmouda was looking at resting.
20:30Thought the action was over.
20:31Oh no, it wasn't.
20:33Shows he's got a good chin.
20:35Punch resist, nothing wrong with his punch resistance.
20:38It's the fact he's going to get exhausted is going to be his biggest problem.
20:42We're set for round six, and the two Oleksandr Usyk fights for Fury.
20:48He still showed that he can be brilliant in stretches.
20:51Still capable of making elite adjustments.
20:53But he ultimately fell second best to a master of control and finishing force.
20:59Now, Mahmouda doesn't have the controls.
21:01He does have the finishing force, but we're now into round six.
21:05Anthony Joshua, Eddie Hearn looking on from ringside.
21:10Bit of tactical analysis.
21:12You can see Joshua filming the fight on his way home.
21:16Maybe doing a little bit of scouting.
21:21Tyson playing in there now.
21:23This is when Tyson's in his own touching gloves.
21:25Friendly, friendly.
21:26He ain't friendly when he throws.
21:28He's looking for an uppercut.
21:29Tyson's looking to land a big uppercut as he comes.
21:31No such thing as friendly fire in the sport.
21:34No, it isn't.
21:34That's all games and shit, touching gloves.
21:36Mahmouda wants Tyson to stop Fran Bunches, so he'll be touching gloves.
21:42It's too crude, it's too crude.
21:44You hit me with some of the shots that Fury is hitting Mahmouda with.
21:48Please don't reach out and touch my glove, because I will not touch it.
21:51David, you have brought up the word of the fight, crude.
21:54That is exactly the best description of Arslan back of Mahmouda.
21:58And as he gets more tired, it just gets worse and worse, slow and slower.
22:03And we'll allow Tyson to see it coming and
22:05he'll hit him with an almighty uppercut as he comes in.
22:08The water is getting deeper, a minute and a half away from the first half of this 12 round
22:15heavyweight attraction.
22:17The Clash of Giants, the 6'9", Tyson Fury, the 6'5", Arslan Beck, Mahmouda,
22:24who again, looking to make it full and shoe ugly Andre, but whatever works.
22:30To the young fighters at home, game plan and strategy and the mental toughness
22:36to execute that strategy is everything.
22:39When Tyson Fury had the wrong strategy in the first two rounds,
22:42Mahmouda had success.
22:44When Tyson Fury got back into his game, into his bag, so to speak, got disciplined.
22:50And then all of a sudden the fight turned and Mahmouda looks like a totally different fighter.
22:53Maybe that was that 16-month round.
22:56Maybe that was the fact he hasn't been in.
22:57And it took two, three rounds for him to get the ring rust out to get back to,
23:01this is Tyson Fury.
23:02Which is impressive, it only takes two rounds for him to get in a rhythm after being out for 16
23:07months.
23:07Fury is going into his bag in hopes of securing the biggest bag against Anthony Joshua.
23:15Fury switching stances, giving Mahmouda different looks.
23:19Mahmouda just a stationary target, no head movement off center line, hands are low,
23:26and here he comes again.
23:29I'm sure if Tyson Fury hurt Mahmouda that he would try to take him out,
23:33but I'm not sure Tyson Fury wants a knockout.
23:35Like I said, AJ could possibly be next, and he's been off,
23:39so why wouldn't Tyson Fury want to get 10 to 12 rounds under his belt?
23:44He's not looking at you.
23:46He doesn't really care about an additional knockout on his record.
23:49He wants the big fights, that's what his goal has got to say.
23:58That's nothing.
24:00I don't want to serve him.
24:02Breathe, breathe, breathe, breathe.
24:03I don't want to serve him.
24:08Hey, we need a second attack.
24:10Right now, you're doing your head movement, it's good.
24:12He's happy to give you a jump.
24:14See Tyson Fury showing different looks.
24:16One minute he's right-handed, the next minute he's left-handed.
24:19I wonder if Mahmouda trained for a left-handed fighter.
24:22I wonder if he had two sets of different sparring partners, because Tyson Fury has
24:26given him many looks, and he's given him, that's a backhand, that's technically illegal.
24:31But hey, it's up to Mahmouda if the ref doesn't get in there to make Tyson Fury stop.
24:38Round seven.
24:40Round seven.
24:41As we move into the second half of this heavyweight tilt in front of over
24:4650,000 fans at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
24:52And Mahmouda looking to bring the heat to Tyson Fury.
24:55But so far, Fury hasn't minded the temperature at all.
25:01See, right there, Mahmouda missed a one-two.
25:04He had Tyson along the ropes.
25:06You've got to let both hands go to the body first and then to the head.
25:10And that's how Mahmouda puts himself in the best position to win.
25:13The jab is such a crucial weapon, David.
25:15And it's been all Tyson Fury in terms of sticking the stick.
25:19That's his shot, his shot is the jab, always has been.
25:22That sets up his range, it gets his rhythm.
25:25It doesn't take that much energy to throw at all, he can throw a thousand jabs.
25:30Because he's so big and so heavy, just a flicking jab
25:34is enough to really stun his opponent.
25:36And after giving Mahmouda the opening round, David Hayes' unofficial scorecard has
25:42Tyson Fury beginning to run away with things.
25:47The first round off the strength of Mahmouda's effort pushing Tyson to the-
25:51That's an uppercut, nice, a counter right hand by Mahmouda.
25:54Two good shots, Mahmouda can't catch Tyson Fury unless he throws.
25:58He's gotta throw.
25:59That's the best spell for Mahmouda for the last few rounds.
26:02Why does he immediately smother his offense, Andre?
26:05By lunging in instead of staying at mid-range where he's been landing him.
26:08Bad habits, he's been doing it for years, and we can't expect in the biggest moment that he's gonna
26:12change that. You're calling for it, he think he should do it, his coach is even asking for it.
26:17But you're going to train to the level of the drills you do and to what you've been doing every
26:21day in the gym.
26:24This is why good habits and good practices are so important because in the biggest moment,
26:29you can't flip a switch and turn them off. You're gonna do what you've always done.
26:32Or you can be like James Clear and include some atomic habits.
26:37Just over a minute left here in the seventh round, Mahmouda on the ropes, but again utilizing
26:44that wrestling background, clinching fury, slowing the Gypsy King down or trying to do that.
26:50And by the way, I want to give a shout out to Netflix's Peaky Blinders for letting me know that
26:55the Gypsy King is also wrong bottles. Travelers back grab.
27:01That's a dynamite jab right there, fellas.
27:01Yeah, good jab there.
27:02That's a dynamite jab right there, fellas. It's sharp, it's powerful, and it's quick.
27:08Not a lot of good jabs in the game. Tyson Fury's up there with the best of them present day.
27:12And of course, the heavyweight division has been the home to so many incredible jabbers.
27:16Larry Holmes comes to mind.
27:18He's an assassin.
27:19Awesome.
27:25Final 15 seconds of the seventh.
27:33Mahmouda misses with a sweeping right hand.
27:38And again, the scouting report of Mahmouda has limited adaptability,
27:44and we get to see any adjustments.
27:48Yeah, Tyson Fury really running away from this one.
27:53I told you, big ol' iceberg.
27:55Black whips and gets you down in there.
27:57Just needs one big shot, Tyson.
27:59He's burning.
28:03You throw that shot in there, don't pull out.
28:05You throw that motherfucker, slide up in there, put the body on him.
28:08That way you get ready for the next shot.
28:09Bang, bang.
28:10Two right hands, and then you go back forward again.
28:13Ain't no bang, bang.
28:14Pull back, bang, bang, slide up in there again.
28:17Give him shoulders all over there.
28:20You only get caught when you pull him back.
28:22Beautiful right uppercut there.
28:26If that was a little lower, that would have probably taken the big man out.
28:30Rotate.
28:33Mahmoudov's resistance, his punch resistance, his toughness, his fitness,
28:37is as good as it's ever been.
28:38I've never seen him this fit before.
28:40He normally fights significantly quicker than this.
28:42Well, we begin the next chapter here, round number eight.
28:48And Mahmoudov again coming forward.
28:51It's almost like a middle linebacker looking to tackle the quarterback,
28:56the way he approaches Fury.
28:57Fury now working behind the jab, an effective ramrod jab, but battering ram.
29:04Mahmoudov is the perfect guy for Tyson Fury to come back against after 16 months.
29:09Not because he's easy or a soft touch, because he's gonna make you work,
29:13like he's making Tyson work, even though Tyson's ahead in this fight.
29:17And if you're not where you need to be, he's gonna expose it.
29:20So it's enough of a threat where it makes you get ready.
29:23But he's also the type of guy, if you're on point, he'll make you work,
29:26but you'll be able to look good as well.
29:28Yeah, this is the terrain Fury has historically mastered.
29:31An upright, heavyweight, predictable forward mover, straight line pressure
29:36that can be manipulated with feints, framing, and angles.
29:41And that's why this fight feels time-sensitive.
29:44We know that Mahmoudov is dangerous in the opening chapters,
29:48but the more this fight progresses, the more one would think it would favor Tyson Fury.
29:53Boxing ability, you know, the style that everybody says is boring,
29:57the style that everybody says that nobody wants to see, but for some reason,
30:00that's the prevailing style that keeps fighters on top for a very long time,
30:05and helps them walk into that Hall of Fame.
30:07Sounds like the style, the last American male to win an Olympic gold that the Olympics
30:1122 years ago possessed, the guy named Andre Ward.
30:15You might be right.
30:19Uppercut by Fury as Mahmoudov walked forward.
30:24Tyson's really trying to put on a show now.
30:28This is, as Andre said, this is the perfect opponent for Tyson.
30:33He needs rounds, and not just boring rounds, he needs quality rounds with
30:37someone coming and pushing and testing him, so he can practice his arsenal,
30:41practice his uppercuts, his hooks.
30:43You know, it's one thing doing it inspiring with 18-ounce gloves on and headgear,
30:47with them little gloves on, you know, you really go.
30:49Nice left hook by Fury.
30:52It looks like the big man's hurt now, MacMudoff is feeling it.
30:56MacMudoff delivers the right hand, but Fury and MacMudoff doing his best to try to
31:00wrap up the Gypsy King because there was an opening there.
31:05MacMudoff hit Fury with a get-off-me type punch, but it didn't work.
31:08Tyson Fury's still closing in.
31:10Oh, he's looking for that uppercut.
31:12Now from the southpaw stance, Fury beginning to move in, beginning to find its target,
31:19and yet MacMudoff's content to wrestle him like the big bear he wrestled in Russia.
31:27His mother said, sure, go ahead.
31:29She didn't realize that he was wrestling the bear.
31:31Yeah, but that bear wasn't throwing punches back.
31:34That bear tonight, that other bear, Tyson's fear, he's throwing a lot of leather
31:37in MacMudoff's direction.
31:39And he's beginning to really find his groove as this fight continues.
31:45MacMudoff started to stand up straight.
31:48He's starting to stand up straight and lean away from the shots.
31:51A bad place to be with someone with such long arms and good speed.
31:54You need to be careful because now you show this guy that you're tired,
31:58you go like this.
31:58No, no, no, no, no, no.
31:59Don't play, play, don't play this with him.
32:02Okay, send him a different message.
32:04Send him a lion message.
32:06Okay, good body.
32:09Tyson Fury along the ropes, call that a check hook.
32:12Yeah.
32:12In other words, don't come at me like that.
32:14Get your hands up.
32:16Because if not, I'm going to discipline you.
32:17And Tyson Fury has been dishing out a lot of discipline in MacMudoff's direction.
32:23See, boxers are not just slick, but they're mean too.
32:26You got to be mean to be that close to a guy like MacMudoff and rip those kind of shots.
32:30And you know what?
32:31You would think shots like that would do damage.
32:33Look at the neck of MacMudoff.
32:35Well, 26-inch neck is crazy.
32:38I've never seen that have been like it.
32:39Oh, yeah, that damage is soaking in because you see MacMudoff shaking that head
32:43and trying to get those kinks out and what he's feeling.
32:45He's just a tough guy, and he's got a strong poker face.
32:48And we've reached round nine, scheduled 4-12.
32:52MacMudoff in the center of the ring, the stab jab, the right hand.
32:55Fury backing up and away, resetting in the center.
32:58And Fury has landed 106 punches.
33:02MacMudoff only four, so nearly three times as many punches have landed for
33:07the Gypsy King Tyson Fury.
33:10MacMudoff's coach, Mark Ramsey, I don't know what he's making tonight.
33:13He's earning every red cent tonight because he is pleading, imploring,
33:18reaching in his bag as a coach and all his years of experience to try to tell
33:23his charge something to turn the course of this fight.
33:26Mark Ramsey may need to go like Roy Jones Jr.
33:29did in that fight with his fighter against Eliza Garcia.
33:34And of course, Kevin Newman, great job there.
33:37Your podcast partner, Roy Jones Jr., loves the Hall of Game, by the way.
33:41Appreciate you, brother.
33:42Two minutes left here in the ninth, and Fury now backing MacMudoff.
33:48To the ropes, you begin to see the pace slowing down a bit, David?
33:53Or are you still content with what you're seeing here?
33:55I'm very impressed with MacMudoff.
33:57I really like the fact that he's still in there.
33:59He's still throwing punches.
34:01He hasn't, he hasn't, he's take like, for instance, right then.
34:03He took a big right hand on the chin, and he's just marching forward.
34:08The pace of the fight goes as Tyson Fury goes.
34:11And that's the mistake that MacMudoff has made.
34:14He set the pace in the first two rounds.
34:16Had Tyson Fury a bit uncomfortable, landed some good shots.
34:20But he settled down and allowed Tyson Fury to dictate the pace of this fight.
34:25Jab, body shot by Fury, and then leans in, continues to attack the body.
34:30Referee Mark Bates giving them an opportunity to punch out.
34:33And I have to say, Mark Bates having the best night referee that he did last weekend, David.
34:38He really is.
34:39And I'll tell you what, what a spirited effort from MacMudoff here.
34:42He's really, he's really, he's not allowing the fact that his skills are significantly more
34:49limited than Tyson to break his first as a, to try to really get in there.
34:56There's a lot of questions about Tyson Fury coming into this fight, rightfully so.
35:01The A's, the layoff, the two losses, this shot right there from Fury.
35:05Oh, and MacMudoff's knees, fuckers.
35:08He just wanted to get Tyson Fury off of his neck.
35:10And Tyson Fury's checking all the boxes.
35:12You look at the legs, he's still got spring.
35:14He's still got movement.
35:15You look at the offense, is it still landing?
35:18Is it still sharp?
35:19He checked that box.
35:20Can he take a shot?
35:20He checked that box.
35:22So Tyson Fury still has a lot left in the tank.
35:24He's putting on a great show tonight.
35:27But I want to see if MacMudoff can grab something, reach for something
35:31that can hurt Fury or change the course of the round, much less the fight.
35:37Nice combination by Fury, punctuated by the punch to the body.
35:44Tyson's starting to turn it up now.
35:47MacMudoff isn't feeling it whatsoever.
35:50He's not enjoying this pace.
35:58He's got about two more rounds and that's it.
36:01You got him playing smart.
36:04You're beating him on the jump already.
36:06You don't wait for him to jump on you.
36:08You go ahead and slide up in that position first.
36:19Tyson Fury doing what he's been doing for most of this fight.
36:22Pretty much whatever he wants.
36:24Uppercuts.
36:25Body shots when he gets in close.
36:27And it's all been set up by the lead hand, the child of Tyson Fury.
36:33Come on.
36:34Mark Ramsey trying to motivate Arslan Beck, the lion,
36:37MakMudoff, as we have reached round number 10.
36:53A series of body blows by Fury.
36:58I feel like if you're MakMudoff, clearly there's a difference in class.
37:02But don't wake up tomorrow morning regretting not giving forth the effort,
37:07not doing all that you could have possibly did to try to win this fight.
37:11He needs to dig down deep, especially if he were to be made aware of David Hayes'
37:15unofficial scorecard.
37:17Fury way ahead.
37:21Sometimes a fighter doesn't give up by throwing in the white flag,
37:25or telling the corner he doesn't want to continue.
37:27It's just a subtle small thing that happens inside, and he stops trying to win
37:32like he previously was, and that's what Tyson Fury has reduced MakMudoff down to right now.
37:38Yeah, Fury working in close, David, and still managing to execute some body shots.
37:43MakMudoff's having very little success inside with Tyson, so why is he,
37:47yeah, again.
37:50Mouthpiece comes out, that's the second time it's happened in two rounds.
37:55The mean one-two from Tyson Fury.
37:57Yeah.
37:59And MakMudoff will say thank you for this respite,
38:03as the referee ensures that it's done quickly, as Tyson Fury waits in a neutral corner.
38:11The Gypsy King looking to crown MakMudoff, and he tried to do it well.
38:17With that right hand.
38:18That's the first time I've seen the legs buckle.
38:21Fully buckle there for that right hand, Tyson, but some mean intentions with that right hand.
38:26Uppercut, and again, the wide punches of MakMudoff.
38:29If he were able to straighten the mouse, there'd be a lot more power behind him, Andre.
38:33Yeah, not gonna happen tonight, fellas.
38:36We've seen ten rounds of this.
38:38We've seen a lot of MakMudoff, MakMudoff's career doing this.
38:42And Tyson Fury has gotten the timing down.
38:45He's tasted the power.
38:46He's comfortable.
38:47He's doing whatever he wants to do right now.
38:49Man, David Haye, that uppercut is getting closer and closer.
38:54And MakMudoff isn't moving his head.
38:57His head's in the same space.
38:59Tyson just keeps missing it.
39:00If he moves six inches to the right, he'll land it on the button.
39:05One of the best uppercuts in the business belongs to Javante Kent Davis.
39:09He authored the 2020 knockout of the year with the left uppercut from Hades,
39:13becoming the first man to stop Leo Santacruz, and always been a big fan of the uppercut, Andre.
39:20It's a beautiful punch.
39:22And nine times out of ten, your opponent doesn't see it coming, which is why I guess so much damage.
39:31Unloading on MakMudoff along the ropes.
39:34Body shots, MakMudoff takes a knee, but was pushed down.
39:38But he wouldn't have been pushed down in the first three or four rounds.
39:42Good point.
39:44Jab from Fury, right hand from Fury, clinched by MakMudoff.
39:49See Tyson put more power in that right hand.
39:51I think he's looking for that knockout right now.
39:53And he really wants to earn it with that right uppercut.
39:56Left hook right hand, MakMudoff can take a shot.
39:59This is going exactly how Tyson Fury wanted it to go.
40:03He's softened him up, given the crowd the fantastic nights of entertainment.
40:08He's turned south for orthodox, cleaned out the ring rust.
40:11I can still punch him, man.
40:15Bottom of the truck is back, back and step is that.
40:17We group and do it again.
40:18Yeah.
40:19You're wearing it down, bitch.
40:20You can't be in there training with him.
40:22Yeah.
40:23Yeah.
40:23Okay.
40:24The shot I wanted, I want this.
40:27Boom, right here.
40:28Fuck the side.
40:29Bam.
40:29Here's the uppercut.
40:31That's one that landed right on the button.
40:32I need one of these 20 right here.
40:34That's going to finish the fight, man.
40:36Put it right on the motherfucking solo.
40:38Yeah, I think I'm boxing that.
40:41I understand that, but it's time to finish this shit up.
40:43Oh.
40:44Put your shots right there.
40:45Put them in.
40:46You got, you got almost got your shots.
40:48Man, bang.
40:49Sugarhill Stewart sounds like someone who comes from that Kronk jam
40:53because he wants him to put the KO in Kronk.
40:56And Tyson was even saying, hey, I'm doing well boxing.
41:00Yes.
41:00But he wants him to play for the show, and it's now round 11.
41:04Those great trainers always got that fear.
41:07They always got that concern with the tough guy that can punch.
41:10He's still here.
41:11He can land that shot.
41:12You got to get him out of there.
41:13That's what you hear from trainer Sugarhill.
41:17And David Mahmoudov unable, I mean, the scouting report living up to its accuracy.
41:23There's just no adaptability.
41:25That's Andre said, too.
41:26What you see is what you get.
41:28And right now, he's trying, but it's just being outclassed by Tyson.
41:32So that's my issue with Mahmoudov.
41:33It's less about what he's unable to do and more about the effort.
41:37You can fall short, but if you're giving maximum effort,
41:39if you never stop trying to win, that's respectable,
41:42and you put yourself in a position to win.
41:44What kind of data package does Anthony Joshua have to still be recording the fight?
41:50He doesn't realize he can watch it on Netflix in high definition.
41:56Nice one, two, right through the guard of Mahmoudov.
42:08I wonder what Anthony Joshua thinks of what he's seen from the Gypsy Camp.
42:13Good question.
42:14Anthony Joshua is very much a different proposition than Mahmoudov.
42:18Absolutely.
42:19You know, a few people said they've got a similar style.
42:22And I said, no, he doesn't have a similar style.
42:24Maybe there's similar dimensions, height and weight maybe.
42:28But in terms of boxing ability, one's an Olympic champion,
42:32two-time headweight champion of the world.
42:35The other one's this fella here swinging and missing.
42:38What about the flicking jab, Andre?
42:40I've always wondered.
42:41I brought it up in other broadcasts like that.
42:44Is that legal?
42:46It's technically not legal, but the referee is not saying anything about it.
42:49So why is it not legal?
42:50Well, you can't hit with the backhand of the glove.
42:52It's that simple.
42:53But it's a highly effective punch.
42:56It stings, it hurts, and that's why, you know, it's illegal.
43:01But the ref, he's watching it.
43:03He's not calling anything tonight.
43:05Body shot again by Fury, white uppercut on the inside.
43:0945 seconds, Makmoudov just trying to stay upright.
43:14Makmoudov is looking at the clock.
43:15Yeah, yeah.
43:16He's like, can you move any faster?
43:18He's like, when is my flight leaving?
43:20Is it only the 11th round?
43:2430 seconds left in the second to last round.
43:29And still Makmoudov swinging the whole beautiful uppercut.
43:32Nice body punch.
43:33A couple of ways you can go in the game.
43:35You can get knocked out or you can get boxed out.
43:38Tyson Fury is boxing out Makmoudov right now.
43:42What a great nice work from Tyson Fury here.
43:45Really, really cooking him in there.
43:49Fury unloading on Makmoudov in the corner as we head to the final round of the Clash of Giants.
44:02Beautiful stuff.
44:09Bang!
44:09I need a shot there.
44:10Fuck the head.
44:11Put a little work behind this there.
44:12Put that motherfucker in front of him.
44:14Yeah, I did it, didn't I?
44:15Oh yeah, you only did it once.
44:17I wanted it three times.
44:19I would've been to fight.
44:23Tyson Fury doing what Tyson Fury's been doing for about 10 rounds.
44:27Uppercut, lead uppercut.
44:29If you can land a lead uppercut, everything is working.
44:32You step aside, create an angle, land another shot, another uppercut.
44:38The lead right uppercut is one of the most dangerous shots to throw.
44:42And he's in the position now where he's very comfortable to throw it.
44:45Yes, if you're the one throwing it, but he's throwing it and he's landing it.
44:49Well, at the age of 37, after another long layoff, Tyson Fury showing that his
44:55delivery system is still working very well.
44:57It is those weeks, those many, many 16 weeks over there in Thailand living clean.
45:03Now the question is, oh, uppercut again last for Fury.
45:07Did he really spar 500 rounds?
45:10Oh, 500 is a lot.
45:13He looks like he sparred 500 the way he's performing tonight, though.
45:16Yeah.
45:17And of course, Tyson Fury would never let facts get in the way of a great story.
45:22It's the 12th and final round, and Fury continues to go to work behind the one, two,
45:27and the body shots.
45:38He's looking forward to the final bell, is what he's doing in there.
45:42It would sound like an orchestra.
45:43Well, only two men have heard the final bell against
45:46Makhmudov, that was heavyweight gatekeeper Carlos Takum and David Allen, the British fan
45:52favorite in his last fight, October of last year. And with all due respect to those two
45:57individuals, not at the level of Tyson Fury. And for Fury, yes, the fifth retirement has ended,
46:0316-month layoff, 37 years of age, putting in the work against Makhmudov.
46:09I like the work that Fury's putting in, and I'm gonna take everybody back into the classroom.
46:13You hear about knockouts. Like I said, this is a box out. Everybody's not a one-punch knockout artist.
46:19Sometimes you gotta hit it a different type of way, and that different type of way is accumulation,
46:25precision, sharpness, good feet, good legs, good defense. And then all of a sudden,
46:29the punishment starts to show up on the opponent's face, on their body, on their minds. And all of a
46:35sudden, you tame a fighter who is known for being menacing and strong with a lot of power.
46:40There's a lot of ways to get the job done in a boxing ring, and you're seeing Tyson Fury do
46:45it
46:45at the highest level. Again, lands that right uppercluck.
46:51Just over a minute left. And this is the return of the Gypsy King. And should the final minute go,
47:00as the rest of this fight is gone, then yes, fight fans have a lot to be excited about
47:07when it comes to the future of boxing in the UK. Another huge stadium crowd on hand here,
47:16the fourth stadium show in the past 12 months in England. Tyson Fury's sixth straight stadium show,
47:23returning to the scene of his last victory on home soil in his third meeting with Derek Chisora,
47:30back in 2022. And now just seconds away from making another successful return to the ring.
47:38And I get it. Some will say MacMudoff is limited, but he's good enough, he's strong enough,
47:42he hits hard enough. But it's the way Tyson Fury's doing it. You can't take away from what you've seen
47:47from Tyson Fury offensively and defensively tonight.
47:59They embrace, and we await the decision which should, for all intents and purposes,
48:07be academic. Tyson Fury doesn't win this fight. I'm done. Commentating. I'm done with the sport.
48:11Be careful. This is boxing. This is boxing. I know. I put it out there. I gotta stick to my
48:16work.
48:16I gave, I gave MacMudoff the first round, the second round, and a share of the second round.
48:21Everything else was Tyson Fury from there on. The ring rust took one and a half rounds,
48:27and then he was back to his best. And as the fight went on, he, he started to find his
48:32rhythm and timing.
48:33The angle started coming in. He started, he started to look like the prime Tyson Fury you all know.
48:43What impressed you the most, David, after the long layoff? We talk about him showing glimpses
48:49of being at his best. Could he have turned it up a little more?
48:52He did, he did exactly what he needed to do. That was the optimal performance for him.
48:57If he could pick the type of performance he'd put forth tonight, it would be exactly that. A big,
49:03strong, rough, tough man who can take his best shot and just continue to have that guy press you so
49:09you
49:09can practice and use all of your angles and just fine tune as much as you can.
49:13That was perfect tonight. He could take all his tools out of the box.
49:16He polished them all up and he's ready now for a big mega fight.
49:20Now, before that big mega fight, and of course, if he gets the victory like we all think,
49:25I know you're the professor, Andre. You always watch with that educated eye.
49:28What's one thing you'd like to see him do more in the next fight, especially if it's against Joshua?
49:33Well, there's just moments, right? Not a lot, but just a few moments that Tyson
49:38Beary typically gives up in like he did tonight where like a mental lapse where he gets hit with
49:44a shot he shouldn't have got hit with or he's making defensive moves he shouldn't make.
49:48This is the heavyweight division. You fight Anthony Joshua, you can't make certain mistakes.
49:53So I think just tightening up on his defense and his game plan just a little bit.
49:58Ain't no party like an uppercut party because the uppercut party don't stop.
50:03And we saw a buffet there, David.
50:05We certainly did. He was practicing. It was coming from all angles, south more orthodox.
50:10He was dropping his hands. That was exactly the punch perfect performance that Tyson needed
50:17to go into these big fights later on in the year.
50:20And his wife, who I'm sure was hesitant about another return. Oh, there you have Anthony Joshua
50:26and Fury shaking hands. Anthony saying, hey, it's your moment. It's your night.
50:31We'll wait and see what transpires. And again, I do repeat, we don't know the official scores.
50:46I hope that's not the case because you're one of the best, brother.
50:55And there again, the two heavyweights going 12 rounds. And again, two individuals this size.
51:02It speaks to the conditioning and what it takes to be a professional prize fighter.
51:08And 10 years after their first photo, I'm sure Mahmoudov and Fury now posing for another photo.
51:14This time after facing each other in the ring. Let's go and find out the official decision from Michael Buffer.
51:24Ladies and gentlemen, after 12 rounds, we go to the scorecards.
51:28Kieran McCann scores it 120-108. Lee Every scores it 120-108.
51:38Reece Carter scores it 119-109. To the winner, with loving memory, Ricky Hatton, the Gypsy King is back.
51:51The winner, by unanimous decision, Tyson Fury!
52:00And save for the one judge who, like David Hayes, gave Mahmoudov around, it was a shutout for the most
52:07part for Tyson Fury,
52:09who returns from a 16-month layoff back to the scene of his last...
