00:08tell you there's nobody out there that i would rather work with than juan i borrow how's it

00:19on man pretty and juan pull off the impossible in five years of tough rescues across north america
00:28there's 2 900 worth of gold in that they've transformed some of the most broken operations
00:34out out out out we gotta go we gotta go to get miners back on the gold holy cow but
00:40not everything
00:41makes it to air the road just collapsed sometimes the challenges and off-the-cuff moments that aren't
00:47featured i guess my phone's done reveal just as much about a rescue as the ones that are this might
00:55be
00:55the one that fights us at the hind quarters the busted gear i hope freddie and juan have a plan
01:01here sleepless nights it's been a long summer and even a little mischief
01:10on this episode of mine rescue i'm not scared to go in there and rip something apart it was built

01:16a man we can fix it freddie and juan reflect on their most memorable unseen moments everywhere else
01:23those joshua trees except where they mined lost footage that has changed lives made them from not
01:30making a living to making a darn good living and fueled the ongoing fight for miners nationwide
01:36in modern society we're going to continue to need these precious metals oh you're talking
01:50regardless of uh the difficulties we've had over the years it's been really rewarding to do what
01:55we do me and you've watched the show together quite a few times then more like what happened to that
02:00footage what happened to that footage there's been a lot of things that we've done that are just
02:05amazing and memorable so but it would be a week-long show it would be a week yeah be a
02:11soap opera really
02:12when it comes down to it freddie the most underrated pressure that we have on a rescue is is when
02:16things
02:17behind the scenes go wrong and then it puts that much more pressure on you and i and everyone else
02:25in british columbia freddie and juan face a never before seen fix gun arrive that threatens to topple a
02:34dire rescue how you doing good i'm anthony i'm juan nice to meet you freddie freddie good to meet you
02:38the moth mine is in deep trouble mine owner anthony needs to produce over four ounces of gold a day
02:45in order to stay mining but he's on the wrong ground they are super fine one that's not good and
02:52his plant unfit for duty already that hopper is just terrible freddie right now it's absolutely clogged
02:59up the plan first freddie and juan must secure a new cut yeah i got some color and second rebuild
03:08his
03:08broken hopper i'm gonna put tubes across in here it'll hold a lot of that weight that's in the center
03:14here off that belt yeah it looks nice but when it comes time for a second test run firing it
03:22up freddie's
03:24load bar fix fails i think we've got a problem still in there that material's getting held up just
03:37sticks together let's go have a look at it we get a plan together and out of the blue something
03:45happens that blows our plan apart there's things we have no control over so that really stresses you
03:51out because now you don't control the situation any longer
03:56that material is real gummy boy yeah it's got the plant slowed way down right now
04:05at this point not very good we just might have to make some adjustments i'm not sure yet
04:09i hope freddie and juan have a plan here there's been many times where i've been humbled all of a
04:14sudden it gets turned around on me i'm like okay maybe i didn't know as much as i thought i
04:17knew
04:17but we figure it out on spot and then we have to improvise
04:24what do you think about putting a vibrator on it we can absolutely we might be able to do it
04:28while
04:28you're running too because that material it's bad yeah if it was perfectly dry it'd be a piece of
04:33cake but right now you can make mud balls out of it yeah yeah let's go get it okay let's
04:38do this
04:39i think that's where really we kind of excel because we think outside of the box and i personally
04:45like it when we go to a situation where we have no idea what the hell we're going to do
04:48but we have to
04:49figure it out on the fly i hate running into unknowns but you just don't know sometimes until you
04:55actually start running the plant so gotta hurry and get it done we'll see what happens
05:01freddie and one putting a vibrator on the box and hopefully they can get that done pretty quick
05:06because we need to get this test run done my son's stressed out hopefully there's going to be good
05:10pay in this test run and and i'll be able to see that stress go away the vibrator will break
05:15up the
05:16sticky pay and keep it moving anthony you feed it then i'll go up and weld and then you feed
05:22it we can hop scotch
05:23okay i really appreciate the fact that even while we're running they're in there trying to
05:31you know fix little issues but i just got to kind of keep sluicing to get this four hour test

05:35he's good one good she'll hold yeah all right buddy hey freddie yeah okay put some more dirt in yeah
05:50up normally we don't work on plants while they're still running but this is the last test runner we
05:55don't have a whole lot of time left so we just had to improvise there we go
06:05that's good well it's working pretty good that vibrator's getting that material to fall down
06:12really tough material to deal with but all's good now last bucket what a lot of people don't see is
06:20some of the stress that you and myself are under most people if they make a mistake only a few
06:25people
06:25see it it's not millions of people right like oh they screwed up that time
06:33freddie and juan i just want to thank you guys with your guys fixes everything that we've been
06:37fighting is now running smoothly after the rescue anthony opens up the new ground check that out
06:45that's a lot of gold the big win there is when they were able to go after that that new
06:50cut and it
06:51was huge yeah it's unbelievable i mean it's better than anything we could have hoped for
06:57unless we have the guys that have been in the industry that are willing to share their knowledge
07:00there's not going to be a new generation that knows what to do they need people like you and myself
07:04to
07:05go out and give them a hand once in a while yeah well sometimes we come across minds that we
07:10know
07:10they've got these problems but it's hard to tell them you know that they didn't build this right they
07:15didn't do that right yeah
07:21in northwest colorado near the wyoming border freddie and juan face a tough conversation with
07:28miner peter friedman thank you so much peter juan nice to meet you peter i need your help in death
07:35and facing the end of his mining dream greenhorn peter and his crew of four run a huge operation
07:42with little to no profit the thing about peter was he'd been taking advice from people he shouldn't
07:48have been taking advice from because he was new in the industry and he spent all kinds of money
07:54freddie and one pinpoint the flaw in peter's poor cleanups i think you ought to get a finishing table
08:00in here i've got a used table i'll sell it to you for about half what a new one goes
08:03for the gold's real
08:05hard to separate no table can get it clean ready i've tried five different tables but i'm 99 sure it'll
08:12work if it doesn't work you don't have to buy it deal deal i was actually nervous when he said
08:19that i'm like hell maybe mine won't i was i'm confident but you might have something different
08:23i don't know but after convincing peter about the new gold table freddie and juan head into an even
08:32tougher conversation so you got a concrete pad to put the finishing table on yeah i do i'll show you
08:38where
08:38it is because we have to have a concrete pad over here peter yeah i got bolts already sunk maybe
08:45we
08:45can uh i know it's too small may be solid but it's way too small all right well you're the
08:52expert
08:53we need a pad that's 12 feet long the concrete base is too small to provide a solid foundation
09:02for the new table to here that long and about eight feet wide let's yank it out a little poor
09:09new
09:10one a plan peter doesn't like pretty water here and tearing my up already
09:18i hope it works out a little nervous it really comes down to freddie you know sometimes we need to
09:23give them tough love right but we got to be tactful about it as well i was pretty proud of
09:31that pad
09:31it's a cute little guy yeah watch your toes right here be great okay we want to spare their feelings
09:41but uh you know sometimes it does require us to say hey let's do something different that's why you
09:46called us concrete trucks here 1-0 nice looks good guys thanks good job once the concrete is cured
10:04the team lift the finishing table into place ready for the final test run good bro when the gold comes
10:11off that table it'll be 98 clean i'm skeptical i've tried every table they make out there and we
10:18haven't had one that would really make a clean product without losing a lot of gold from day one
10:24he's like i don't think it's going to work i don't think it's going to work fix is complete on
10:28the plan
10:28this list is around 80 yards an hour now wow we've never had that kind of run and new table
10:34up and
10:34running and it looks like it's accumulating now i see the gold really coming out
10:39the second test results are weighed well we're at 0.23 right now four three six
10:480.84. that's a hell of a lot better gold than that first test a massive 600 increase here's your
11:00gold guys now you're talking some serious money decent you know sure enough they went out there
11:05that's the best gold they've ever seen we're coming from a point of love right you know or
11:09from a position that we're genuinely trying to help them and and and so it's kind of a balancing act

11:14really is a little tough love doesn't always save a miner from themselves it's all hands on deck
11:22to stop a mini disaster in this unseen moment when jeff leaves his bag on the track of the excavator
11:31jeff starts driving down the road i take off running yeah hey hey hey you're trying to stop
11:39them everyone's trying to honk at them nope keeps on going
11:46uh this is what happens when you don't pay attention to your stuff unfortunately i left my bag sitting on
11:52the
11:53track and uh when i jumped in the cab to move it out of the way um i forgot i
12:00guess my phone's done
12:03my wife won't like that is lunch squish sandwich banana all squished coming up freddie reveals never
12:15seen prospecting secrets so freddie this is what we've got for maps and a few hair raising twists
12:21along the way there are ghosts here as there's strange things happening we've done a lot of
12:37traveling won how many miles do you think we've done oh over a hundred thousand miles at one's workshop
12:43freddie and one unpacked their favorite unseen moments all the way from alaska canada
12:49all the way down the east coast east coast north carolina arizona you know everything in between
12:54we've we've done it all remember that july in british columbia columbia yeah i think between our
13:00trucks our trailers and the film cruise vehicles i think it was 17 tires yeah we lost tires almost daily
13:08ian here's your tire back you can put it on yourself next time don't hit rocks okay thanks for
13:13long they're going through the same trails we are right there's a lot of challenges you know accidents
13:18like you hitting that turkey last year that blew your front windshield you know yeah i'm going
13:23into canada and all of a sudden a 20 pound turkey comes through my front windshield
13:29lucky it didn't kill you yeah luckily it didn't i know you love turkey but that's a little bit much
13:34huh it was more than i could chew fred there's way more but seriously some of these mines there's very
13:40very little room for error to get in and out of we've taken our trucks into really places we probably
13:46shouldn't take them but you know it's all in the name of trying to help people out
13:53in 2024 in british columbia freddie and one find they need a rescue themselves saving a mountaintop
14:01gold mine hi guys how you doing good to be here miners travis and son andrew need help to upgrade
14:07their plant to catch fine flood gold at this rate a fast food job would be paying you a lot
14:13more i
14:14appreciate uh the harsh honesty of things for sure
14:22that's right fred but in this unseen footage the route out of the mine proves harder than the rescue
14:29itself but a four-wheel drive one it's getting a little muddy we gotta hug this side as best we
14:34can
14:35one of the places that i i really wish that it was a flying access was travis yeah those corners
14:41freddie and one need to navigate a steep mountain pass with a 600 foot unprotected drop
14:48into the fraser river it was raining for a couple days right you know the road was slick
15:04the road just collapsed gave way our trailer's ready to go over as i'm starting to turn my trailer
15:11that axle caught in there and started pushing that bank out and almost rolled the trailer yeah it would
15:16have been a mess we're to the point where a butterfly lands on that downhill side it's going down
15:24so you can see that hitch is twisting that's the only thing that's keeping that trailer from going
15:27over we're gonna have to get a piece of equipment up here to try to lift the back end of
15:31that trailer
15:31up and get it back on the road unable to get themselves out here comes travis
15:38miner travis allen comes to the rescuer's rescue uh can you get around the axle anywhere
15:48you want to go ahead lift up a little bit
15:56it was a little tight there for a minute you know but without an excavator in that situation
16:00no we'd have been in deep deep trouble
16:06you came to help you you ended up helping us
16:15you know we got to have our tools you know if we don't have our tools in our truck it
16:18really limits
16:19what we can do but over the years there's been several different situations where we couldn't
16:22bring our trucks we had to make do with what we had you know we make a makeshift service truck
16:26out
16:26of our little side bicep still don't have all the tools that you really want or need at the end
16:31of
16:31the day it reduces really what we're able to produce yeah on a rescue to the remote alaskan wilderness
16:42freddy and one leave behind their tools of the trade in this unseen footage i know it's a fly-in
16:49situation but what else do we know about it know that there's three guys out here that have been
16:55mining and changing their stuff around for quite a few years and i don't think they've made a tremendous
17:00amount of money but uh really all i know is you can't drive there how small are these planes freddy
17:06yeah
17:07they're small planes wano me and you will fill one up that's for damn here oh man known for brutal
17:16winters temperatures in the talkeetna mountains where the bush creek boys work can drop to minus 46
17:24fahrenheit and vehicle access is often limited to a dangerous ice road during winter months
17:32it's gonna be the hottest day of the year they say fred but a heat wave forecast changes priorities
17:37for juan i packed pretty light i was gonna take a hood hard hat i was gonna take that fan
17:44you aren't taking any tools but gonna take a fan i get hot at night when i sleep
17:50you're serious yeah all fan you want oh
17:52here with my hat here you go you didn't even bring spare underwear that time but you brought your
18:00fan here we go you know like i told you freddy i sleep in the nude and i run hot
18:05so you know i had
18:06to bring my fan that's why i brought my blinders all right fred let's load up okay is this all
18:14the
18:14gear you got this is it okay well let me load her up and we'll get going here mike i'm
18:19going to be
18:19honest with you i might have lied about my weight a little bit i'm not 185.
18:26no i expect you a man of honor right you didn't fib about your weight did you i didn't tell

18:49you ready how's it going with dennis iso with limited tools freddy and juan scavenged the site
18:56for parts to upgrade the bush creek boys plant we need to put a damper in here okay good call
19:07juan we use some of this old carpet for a damper okay what else do we need some screws yeah
19:13we did a
19:14lot of stuff at bush creek for not having you know the majority of our tools yeah
19:19wow wow 4.13 that's massive at bush creek it was still over 80 increase that was the tools we
19:28took
19:29is what you and i could actually fit in the airplane it was pretty minimal and the fan yeah
19:34obviously the fan that was that was an important thing fred you don't know
19:50when we go to a new mine site you know a lot of times there's so many things going on
19:53that need repair it's overwhelming inside one's workshop pretty and one reveal insightful unseen
20:01moments and challenges that give a deeper look at what it takes to save minds we actually have to
20:08sit there and figure out what's going to give them the best recovery you know best bang for their buck
20:12so sometimes we go in there and like hey we have to concentrate on these things
20:15i know that's an issue but we can't deal with it we don't have enough time
20:22in washington state freddy and one are up against the clock to revive a mining dream in steep decline
20:32freddy good morning how are you doing this is corey my partner yeah nice to meet you
20:36both levi and corey they were good tremendous workers hard work to be out there breaking rock by
20:42hand the way they were doing it crushing it down then putting it in the truck taking it down to
20:47the
20:47hammer mill it was a lot of work to reduce the time wasted driving the pay to the processing level
20:53freddy and juan designed an impressive pipe system to funnel crushed ore down into the mill
21:01but first they need to get the pipe to the site you had to build a whole trailer just to
21:06get all the
21:06material up to the top so the trailer had to be long enough for the pipe yet light enough to
21:11pull
21:11behind an atv because we couldn't get our trucks in there but as this unseen footage reveals
21:17sometimes it takes everyone on the team to make it happen on time it's great to have
21:22travis and alex helping us at times without travis and alex i don't think we could do the amount of
21:28work that we do oh hey guys happy to see you guys build foreman travis stockman and operator
21:35alex voigt are freddy and one's reliable duo called upon when the rescuers need extra muscle
21:42right now i'm cutting out the parts that we're going to use to build the pipe trailer we're going
21:46to weld these on like this to hold the pipe strap everything down hook it up to an atv and
21:51hopefully
21:51we'll make it up to the mine site one trailer done thanks for your help buddy of course looks
22:05fantastic and travis the same way a lot of people don't see that you know behind the scenes he's the
22:11guy that's staying there with us late at night welding getting there early in the morning to get
22:15things lined up travis actually before working for us he was working underground blasting rock
22:22all the way down matrice in the back of the hole and let her rip
22:30it's a blessing to have guys like that that we know we can rely on it is
22:34this is a steep sharp turn pretty this might be the one that bites us in the hind quarters right

22:40i'll have to admit that mine was a pain in the butt to work it really was
22:45barely fit a wheelbarrow in there

23:01thank you after putting that pipe system in it streamlined that whole operation so it was a big
23:07improvement probably 50 times the amount of gold you had in the first run i mean that's amazing
23:14when we hit the ground a lot of times we hit the ground blind we you know we've talked to
23:18them
23:18over the phone maybe they sent us some pictures but until you actually get on the ground you don't
23:23know a lot of the stuff and really i think the challenge is fred you or myself i'm not scared
23:28to
23:28go in there and rip something apart you know it was built by a man we can fix it but
23:31when it comes down
23:32to it can we get the team together and actually get them more gold that's right
23:40in arizona freddy and one reunite a fractured crew before their season washes away we are so happy you
23:48guys came out man it's been a struggle since we started the monsoon season is here we're getting
23:54shut down every day just about right now there's not a time in the monsoon season where we're not
23:59shut down because of lightning eight hundred thousand dollars in the hole flash floods have ripped
24:06through the desert and decimated their claim last year the rivers are about flowing everything was gone
24:14it was catastrophic for us completely at the start of it but in this unseen footage
24:20the wash plant fixes have to wait while freddy and one perform a more personal fix with the kennedys
24:27they were homesick yeah you know all the time away from family and constantly getting shut down
24:31by floods is really tough on them so we're making a really big cajun boil here far from home
24:38and team morale low freddy comes up with a plan to unite the kennedy crew i've got sausage and shrimp
24:46going in here and i made the seasoning that i mixed together out of a bunch of different
24:50seasonings and uh we'll have one heck of a feast if my seasoning's any good that's their food of
24:56choice you know it's crawfish and cajun seasoning and stuff where they're at in texas so figured well
25:02let's throw a little time and money at it who would have thought freddy dodge not only a mining guru
25:08fabrication expert but a chef as well simple chef i'm good at this brisket ribs damn good at ribs too
25:17yeah they're coming fred yeah hope you guys are hungry i think it was a great move felt more
25:24like a family that way everybody gets together over food he can bond definitely over food so
25:28had a great time so you were telling me the other day that you loved crawfish boiled oh yeah texas
25:35oh look at that see how this colorado boy does crawfish there you go let's throw some more of
25:42those on there absolutely definitely smells like i'm closer to home you've done a good job oh yeah
25:49how's the seasoning perfect well that season is damn good man cheers guys cheers gentlemen
25:58over the years we've both taken that role of being a therapist i got plenty of issues of my own
26:03so i don't
26:03i don't need to be giving out advice but sometimes it does help when we've been in a similar situation
26:09and we can give them our take on it exactly hey this is what we did or this is the
26:12situation i had
26:13a lot of times the mines we help they haven't had the opportunity to be at hundreds of mines like
26:19yourself and myself right over time team morale back on track the rock sheet's working good the kennedys
26:29combined for a final push to save their season we've never ran that much yardage this could be a
26:36big game changer here 0.61. wow that's awesome worth over a thousand dollars the kennedy crew quadruple
26:47their gold recovery you guys want to be able to pay back your investment yeah actually be able to make
26:51a little bit of money out here instead of it just being a boy's trip right and that's going to
26:54make it
26:55a possibility so the combination of the fixes and better ground they're still plugging along down
27:01there what it boils down to freddy is we grow to know and appreciate the people that we work with
27:05we make friends you know we want to do the best we can for them so you know it definitely
27:09gets really
27:10personal when we're there we're committed we want to get it done we want not only do we want to
27:14get
27:15it done we want to see them be successful that's right and that's why we're there truly help
27:29we want to get it done we want to get it done we want to get it done we want

27:29almost every place we visited there's a bunch of work that we do that never gets shown something
27:34that takes two days to fix you know makes two minutes of television yeah freddy and juan return
27:39to mine rescues unseen footage one of the biggest things that we do that honestly it's kind of underrated
27:45is prospecting you're able to read the ground see what's going on and figure out where we need to
27:55prospect to rescue a pair of arizona prospectors in a legendary gold region freddy and juan go into
28:02overtime in their hunt for better ground what's your goal for this year we would love to be at 50
28:08ounces this year this is the goal that we want to be able to run at this year we've barely
28:13done over an
28:14ounce really to get them back on the gold freddy needs to identify the best pay on their 120 acre
28:23claim
28:24so freddy this is what we've got for maps and in this unseen footage we discover the real work can
28:30take
28:31much longer to get the job done so where are we at on here we're where the dot is okay
28:36yep that's the
28:37famous king tut mine right here the king tut mine sits alongside a string of hard rock mines above jamie
28:46and christine's claim discovered in the 1930s the mine produced hundreds of ounces of gold a week
28:53it definitely had gold people were here before so you know that could go one way or the other yeah
29:00and
29:00some of this older stuff can be good some of it can lead you astray because people were trying to
29:06sell
29:06some of the mines right right so they would amplify how much gold they got or so forth right that
29:13makes
29:13sense so we'll do our own testing and we'll do our own looking okay what i think we need to
29:18do is
29:18find a little bit of elevated ground okay uphill right like towards that king tut mine okay and look
29:25down see what we can see that sounds great the more information we get on an area especially an area
29:31we've never been to before you know that's all the better regardless of what we hear or what we're told
29:36we do our own research and you have to do that exactly right
29:44let's walk down here
29:47see that's all tailings this is all tailings
29:52this is actually the most important thing you can have the best wash plant in the world
29:57you can have the best operators in the world but if you don't have the gold in the ground or
30:03if
30:03you're digging in the wrong spot you know you ain't gonna make it right there's a lot of stress on
30:08us
30:08because sure there's gold in the area so the gold should be there but glaciers did a lot of weird
30:13things streams moved trying to read tailings from virgin ground that's where a lot of these guys get in
30:20trouble too exactly out on the desert draws freddie hunts for old timer workings there's a few ways we can
30:28tell it's tailings one the sides and two do you notice what plant life is missing here joshua's yep
30:37everywhere else is those joshua trees right right except right here all right except where they mined
30:43there might be gold left in their tailings i'm sure there is because you know they had crude methods
30:49they didn't have water they're using dry washers but at the same time would you want to run the stuff
30:55that somebody else has already run once and taken half the gold out of or run virgin stuff with all
30:59the gold in it so that's what we're looking for is virgin material with all the gold in it just
31:06really
31:06valuable for me to go out with freddie and have him teach me these things directly so i can you
31:11know
31:12be a bigger part of that part of our operation it wasn't that we just showed up and boom it
31:17we
31:17actually did every step of the process wash plant fix is complete oh perfect too much i like it all
31:24right you like it i do freddie weighs the gold from the second test well there's a half an ounce
31:31right there exactly a half an ounce there's your goal there's still more in there keep going freddie
31:36keep going 1.25 exactly an ounce and a quarter oh my gosh you guys holy cow with everything we
31:46did
31:46there with jamie and christine i think it was a little over a 400 increase in gold that was
31:50tremendous it made them from not making a living to making the darn good living yeah we've talked
31:55about it over the years that you got to treat mining it's a business venture and you got to treat
31:59it as such one of the the situations that we ran into over the years is sometimes people get in
32:04there
32:04and they get so focused on it yeah i got to do this i got to do that then they
32:08over complicate the
32:09process and at the end of the day they end up losing more gold and spending so much more money
32:14i knew a guy he would sluice 21 hours straight before he do a cleanup because he thought it was
32:19lucky you remember the adams family i do the homestead family great group of guys you know
32:24they had the whole family working at the mine site they were superstitious too
32:32in canada's caribou gold fields freddie and juan unearthed the spirit of the mountain
32:38in their search for lost gold we have four generations of gold miners here and
32:43my grandfather was a gold miner as well so that makes five freddie and juan's rescue is plagued by
32:50a faulty conveyor oh shut it down shut it down don't don't start the conveyors bound up conveyors
32:58they're a blessing or a curse but as this unseen footage shows it wasn't the only thing cursed on the
33:06site because our neighbor was saying that there are ghosts here
33:13they're holding the gold he's saying strange things happening in this area
33:19gold miners have always held deep superstitions about ghosts and spirits
33:25strange noises cave-ins and shadows in the mines were often blamed on restless souls guarding
33:33hidden treasures when i was working underground over the years there was a lot of guys that were
33:38really superstitious some of their rituals that they would do and everything else
33:42he says they'll find a channel and it's a really good channel they've tested it it's amazing the next
33:47day they start mining it nothing there we have to mine the channels we find the day we find them
33:52or else the next day all the gold's gone are you serious apparently it's because of the ghosts
33:57the ghosts came and just took it all that night not really superstitious at all but in the mining
34:03industry as a whole there's a lot it's not ghosts so it's leprechauns that's what i believe
34:08those little light irish leprechauns you know they're out there stealing gold
34:15unfazed by supernatural tales freddie gets to work on the cursed conveyor it's hot boy
