00:00:00One, three, three, four!
00:00:01Oh, what a goal! Oh, look at that!
00:00:04Absolutely phenomenal!
00:00:06Rooney O'Hall!
00:00:08Welcome to Match of the Dead.
00:00:50Good evening, four games for you on tonight's Match of the Day,
00:00:53with consequences at the top and bottom of the table.
00:00:56We've also got March's goal of the month
00:00:57and the best of the action from yesterday.
00:00:59I'm joined in the studio by Pat Nevin
00:01:01and making his Match of the Day debut.
00:01:04Ben Foster, welcome.
00:01:05So we begin with the title race.
00:01:07Arsenal's defeat against Bournemouth on Saturday
00:01:09gave Manchester City the chance to close the gap
00:01:11at the top of the table to six points as they travelled to Chelsea.
00:01:15Your commentator is Steve Wilson.
00:01:18A title race which seemed all but over
00:01:21now feels like it's very much back on.
00:01:24If Manchester City win all their remaining games,
00:01:28the worst they can do is finish level on points with Arsenal.
00:01:32Chelsea, who've lost three of the last four in the league,
00:01:34make two changes to the 11 which swept aside Port Vale in the Cup.
00:01:38Cucurella and Caicedo for Tosin and Lavia.
00:01:42No Enzo Fernandes, of course.
00:01:45Treble chasing City make one change from their Cup quarterfinal win over Liverpool.
00:01:50That's Donnarumma for Trafford in goal.
00:01:52Just one of their last six games has been in the league
00:01:55and their last Premier League win was in February.
00:01:59The last time Manchester City lost to Chelsea was the 2021 Champions League final.
00:02:07This could be a dress rehearsal for the 2026 FA Cup final.
00:02:13But more importantly today is that opportunity knocks for Manchester City again.
00:02:20There was a little gap there and Semenya has strolled through it
00:02:25before he's dispossessed neatly by Caicedo.
00:02:28Here's Parma.
00:02:29Parma.
00:02:30Rodri chasing.
00:02:32Pedro Neto for Chelsea.
00:02:35Cole Parma.
00:02:38Done well.
00:02:39Side netting from Parma.
00:02:41That's a really good break from the home side.
00:02:45Nicely worked.
00:02:45Little mistake by Rodri.
00:02:47Parma was onto it very quickly.
00:02:49And then found himself in a decent position in the penalty area.
00:02:53Just forced a little wider and to a more acute angle than he might have liked.
00:03:01Enzo Fernandes will be back from his two-game club imposed suspension
00:03:07for next week's match against Manchester United here.
00:03:14Here's Pedro Neto.
00:03:17João Pedro.
00:03:19Lively.
00:03:21And increasingly threatening.
00:03:23And here's Cucurella.
00:03:24Really good finish but the flag's gone now.
00:03:29Well Ian Hussein put his flag up the moment the ball went into the back of the net.
00:03:34It's quite tight but he does look offside.
00:03:37And it is no goal.
00:03:41And here is the confirmation of the offside position from which Mark Cucurella scored.
00:03:51No Parma for Chelsea.
00:03:53There's a collision involving Estevão and the referee Chris Cavanaugh.
00:04:00Here's Pedro Neto for Chelsea.
00:04:03Chris Cavanaugh is sprinting to make up ground having been felled.
00:04:08And Pedro Neto goes on and Donnarumma makes a good save.
00:04:14Donnarumma getting his big frame down really quickly.
00:04:17That's a very good stop.
00:04:20There's one of the greats really.
00:04:22Not just of this football club but of European football champ Franco Zola.
00:04:28Can I say though?
00:04:31Parma.
00:04:33Kasanov waited his moment and then pounced to nick the ball away.
00:04:36And Rodri has given it back.
00:04:38Malo Gusto.
00:04:40And João Pedro!
00:04:41Well he got in front of Mark Gahy there.
00:04:43It's an excellent little bit of movement.
00:04:45Just needed to get that left boot on the ball and Donnarumma would have been called into action.
00:04:51It hasn't been quite as thrilling a half an hour as you might have expected.
00:04:56O'Reilly keeps popping up in great positions.
00:05:00Haaland is sniffing.
00:05:01Sanchez made a really good stop.
00:05:03Nico O'Reilly into a super little spot again.
00:05:06Bernardo Silva did get something on it.
00:05:09Sanchez with the save and then the grasp.
00:05:20Semenyo looking for room for the shot.
00:05:22Now there's room and he hits it and hits it wide.
00:05:26Chelsea away is not an easy fixture but it's one city really need to win if they are to apply
00:05:31yet more pressure on Arsenal.
00:05:33And pressure seems to be preying on Arsenal minds at the moment.
00:05:43Doku did well to get away from Ando Santos there.
00:05:46And he's found Haaland.
00:05:46His trouble.
00:05:47That was heading wide.
00:05:49Hato made the block.
00:05:51Malo Gusto away.
00:05:53Well you just expected that ball to fizz past Sanchez into the back of the net.
00:05:59That shot wasn't actually even on target.
00:06:07Doku.
00:06:09Palmer.
00:06:15Referee Chris Kavanagh wasn't at all interested in this.
00:06:20Actually Palmer's outstretched left leg here.
00:06:24Well, you'd say there's a strong case for City having a penalty.
00:06:38Chirky's ball in and into the net from O'Reilly.
00:06:44Well, Manchester City have been more dangerous in the first five minutes of the second half than they were in
00:06:51the whole 45 of the first.
00:06:54And O'Reilly, whose goals won the League Cup, has headed them in front at Stamford Bridge.
00:07:00It's a lovely ball into the penalty area and O'Reilly was completely lost by Andre Santos.
00:07:10Guardiola is the man with the knowledge.
00:07:12And Manchester City the club with the titles.
00:07:16Though it's Arsenal who are the side with the lead.
00:07:19It's going to be intriguing.
00:07:29Ryan Chirky.
00:07:34Oh, great ball.
00:07:36Mark Gehi 2-0.
00:07:38What a blistering start to the second half by Manchester City.
00:07:47Oh, great play on the edge of the penalty area.
00:07:51Chirky finding space and then a brilliant ball into Gehi, who controls it and turns in one deft movement.
00:08:03And that's a really good finish.
00:08:07Didn't seem to be much between the two sides in the first 45 minutes.
00:08:11Chelsea have been overwhelmed in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
00:08:19João Pedro for Cucurela.
00:08:21A Chelsea goal would change the whole mood.
00:08:23And that's a great ball for Palmer.
00:08:25Well, this might have been a game changer.
00:08:28Really good block by Mark Gehi.
00:08:33Frank Lampard here today.
00:08:35Doing some advanced homework for Coventry's seemingly inevitable Premier League season ahead.
00:08:41They are a whisker away from confirming promotion back into the top flight.
00:08:47Casano for Semenho.
00:08:49Tied to whether he was on or off.
00:08:50The shot is comfortable for Sanchez.
00:08:55Kaiseido has lost it to Doku.
00:08:583-0.
00:09:01That's a terrible goal to concede.
00:09:08Kaiseido caught in possession.
00:09:11Doku makes it three.
00:09:12Manchester City a rampant second half.
00:09:17Chipping away at Arsenal's advantage in points and goal difference.
00:09:24Arsenal bottling it.
00:09:25He thinks so.
00:09:27Well, the first half was almost a non-event.
00:09:30The second half has been almost no contest.
00:09:34Well, the storm clouds appear to be gathering over Stamford Bridge.
00:09:39It's going to be one league win in seven for Chelsea.
00:09:43Five defeats in nine.
00:09:48Cole Palmer.
00:09:52Cucurella!
00:09:53That wasn't far away.
00:09:58Decent hit by Cucurella, this.
00:10:00Yeah.
00:10:15Cucurella being urged to shoot and he did!
00:10:18He really got some fizz behind that.
00:10:22He's a long way out.
00:10:24It's not that long a way wide.
00:10:33Alejandro Garnaccio
00:10:37Lavia
00:10:51Lavia
00:10:52Dink nicely to Cucurella
00:10:53Donnarumma saves
00:10:54well that is probably Chelsea's best moment
00:10:57of the second half
00:10:58beautifully down little 1-2
00:11:01he's definitely onside
00:11:04but he's up against Donnarumma
00:11:08it's a fairly straightforward save for the Italian in truth
00:11:13well there is no London Underground Service to Stamford Bridge today but
00:11:17if there were they'd be saying mind the gap
00:11:20and Arsenal will have to do that because if they're not careful soon there will be no gap
00:11:25Manchester City with an outstanding second half display
00:11:30it's all set up for City Arsenal next Sunday
00:11:35it's felt for a few weeks now as though it's all coming down to this game next weekend
00:11:40do you feel that will ultimately decide who wins this title?
00:11:45I don't know of course it's important because it's six points behind them
00:11:50and if they beat Azizová if we draw I would say two
00:11:54before the Caraba Cup final we were underdogs nobody gave us a pound
00:12:00you know for us and they have to be calm they have to prepare because Arsenal is an extraordinary team
00:12:08it feels a little bit like the same old story recently in our games where we have a setback
00:12:13and we don't recover from that we need to find a solution to that
00:12:17I need to find a solution to that as well
00:12:19and a lot of that is mental stamina and emotional stability and difficult moments
00:12:23but at the moment I need to make sure the short time is good
00:12:26and we have to focus on a really really massive game against Manchester United next week
00:12:30I do want to talk about your goal
00:12:32it's a lovely ball into you from Ryan Cherky
00:12:34but your control and turn in one movement gives the opportunity for you to tuck away that finish
00:12:39which obviously is a very good goal
00:12:41I'm fortunate to be playing with so many top players
00:12:44with Ryan you never know when the ball is going to come so you just have to be ready
00:12:48but yeah I'm grateful, grateful to be in that position
00:12:50and therefore I did okay with the finish and yeah it was nice to get a goal today
00:12:55you now seem to be hitting like really top four
00:12:58yeah the team feel fresh and everybody is there
00:13:02and yeah we have a semi-final FA Cup and five or six games remaining
00:13:07so looks not many but it's a lot
00:13:11so many many things I think is going to happen
00:13:14yeah they look fresh don't they
00:13:15and it was a huge opportunity for City knowing what had happened to Arsenal yesterday
00:13:19but they didn't start the game hurried or kind of with any sense of urgency
00:13:23they were happy just to let Chelsea have the ball
00:13:25yeah they did
00:13:26and I think that's a real skill in itself
00:13:28just to be happy to soak up a little bit of pressure
00:13:31let them dictate play
00:13:32they did it for about 15-20 minutes Chelsea
00:13:34they were arguably the better team
00:13:36but then after that Man City really did start to get a stranglehold of the game
00:13:39but it was still 0-0 at half time
00:13:41so what changed in the second half?
00:13:43they carried on from that first 15 minutes really
00:13:45they just dominated the ball
00:13:47they were happy to step up
00:13:49you can see here
00:13:50they're all camped on the halfway line
00:13:51real comfortable possession
00:13:53and this was the story of the second half in general really
00:13:55camped on the halfway line
00:13:56Chelsea just happy to sit back
00:13:59and mentally I think Man City were the stronger team
00:14:02they really were
00:14:03they were dominating everything
00:14:04and alarm bells should have started to ring here
00:14:07you can see Nico O'Reilly just starting to saunter
00:14:09making his way into the 18-yard box
00:14:11there's no real pressure on the ball from Chelsea either
00:14:13I think they could have got the ball in the box a couple times there
00:14:15they didn't
00:14:15and when the ball finally does come into the box here
00:14:18you can see Nico O'Reilly
00:14:19he's there with Santos
00:14:21and that is a complete mismatch
00:14:23Harlan's taking two of the men
00:14:24Man City have got the box fully ringed out
00:14:26the ball comes in
00:14:27and in the end
00:14:28it's a comfortable finish for Nico O'Reilly
00:14:31Sanchez absolutely no chance
00:14:32this part here though is what
00:14:34it's a little bit worrying
00:14:35it really is
00:14:36if you're going to press as a team
00:14:37you've got to push up
00:14:38you've all got to do a job
00:14:39you've all got to get up there
00:14:40and do it as a unit
00:14:41or you get back and defend
00:14:43watch Coussinoff here
00:14:44he carries the ball unopposed
00:14:46nobody touches him
00:14:47nobody lays a glove on him
00:14:48he gets into Chelsea's half
00:14:49simple ball over to the top
00:14:50and on another day
00:14:52Semenya puts that in the back of that
00:14:53he's got the quality to do that
00:14:55Sanchez here
00:14:56trying to do it quickly
00:14:57I think Caicedo
00:14:58it's a good ball you know
00:14:58I don't blame the goalkeeper at all
00:14:59it's a good ball
00:15:00and if he can take it on the half turn
00:15:02and run away with it
00:15:02it's fine
00:15:03but the City's
00:15:04look at them
00:15:05they sniff it out
00:15:06oh it's absolute green light
00:15:07go go go
00:15:09and Doku
00:15:09it's a lovely little finish into the corner
00:15:11simple goal for him
00:15:12but this makes it 3-0
00:15:13and it's game over at this point
00:15:14it is game over in terms of the scoreline
00:15:16but in terms of the relentlessness
00:15:18and the energy
00:15:182-0 3-0
00:15:19they're still going for the game
00:15:20they're not happy just to shut it down
00:15:22yeah
00:15:23the other thing is
00:15:23I'd love to talk about
00:15:24Cherkis and Doku's
00:15:26and all the rest of it
00:15:26but it's hard work as well
00:15:28when you come to this time of the season
00:15:29everyone has to put the work rate in
00:15:31and it doesn't matter if it's
00:15:339-10-11-12
00:15:35whoever my players
00:15:35play it at any point in the game
00:15:37Haaland sets it off here that time
00:15:39and it's not just him
00:15:40Doku's right behind him
00:15:41Silva's right behind as well
00:15:42this is absolutely horrible
00:15:44to play against
00:15:45because you've not got a second on the ball
00:15:47but when they get it
00:15:48they're comfortable
00:15:50pass back here
00:15:51you could have let that go
00:15:52no no Doku
00:15:52I'll show you
00:15:53I'll give you only one place to go
00:15:55right
00:15:55you've got one touch
00:15:57one touch
00:15:57you only need to make one mistake here
00:15:59if you're Chelsea
00:16:00and you're on the back foot again
00:16:02that's because they're all up for it
00:16:03most of the time
00:16:04all working for each other
00:16:05one mistake
00:16:06and they've got the ball back again
00:16:07and look at the comfort
00:16:08when they're on the ball
00:16:09and it happens time and time again
00:16:10with them
00:16:11and when they had to depend on somebody else
00:16:14when they finally got through
00:16:15not a bad keeper to rely on
00:16:18is it?
00:16:18See he makes this look a lot more simple
00:16:20I know it's straight ahead
00:16:21don't get me wrong
00:16:21there's a lot of goalies there
00:16:22that get too involved there
00:16:23they rush out
00:16:24they collide with
00:16:26Cuccarello
00:16:26Cuccarello sorry
00:16:27and it's a penalty
00:16:28but he doesn't
00:16:29he holds
00:16:29waits waits waits
00:16:30makes a save
00:16:31yeah
00:16:31I mean
00:16:32the whole way through the game
00:16:33you know
00:16:34if you're up two
00:16:34three
00:16:35they just don't turn off
00:16:36every one of them's chasing back
00:16:37it's the
00:16:38it's the players that are chasing back
00:16:40that's the man up there
00:16:41he's playing at left back
00:16:42and he's doing it
00:16:43constantly through the game
00:16:44and he's got the fitness
00:16:45to be able to do it as well
00:16:46Foden's come on
00:16:47and he's not just swaned into the game
00:16:49it's not going great
00:16:49for Foden at the moment
00:16:51but do you know what
00:16:52you can work your way
00:16:53out of these times
00:16:54and that guy
00:16:55right now
00:16:56has got every single one
00:16:57of them working
00:16:58and I don't know if you notice there
00:16:59at the end of the game
00:17:00towards the end of the game
00:17:01they're still playing on the pitch
00:17:03and so many empty seats
00:17:05so many blue seats there
00:17:06five games now out of six
00:17:08they've lost in all competitions
00:17:09things are not going well
00:17:11for Chelsea
00:17:11and a particularly bad run just now
00:17:13I mean five points out at 21
00:17:15when they were trying to go
00:17:16and get Champions League football
00:17:18and they're falling right off it just now
00:17:19that's a bad feeling
00:17:20at the club at the moment
00:17:22with a lot of the fans as well
00:17:23they're not actually angry at the moment
00:17:25they're actually resigned
00:17:27and that's a bad thing
00:17:28it's a very very bad thing
00:17:29at this team of the season
00:17:30so they need to get something
00:17:32turned around
00:17:32but at this point in time
00:17:34the work rate that you need
00:17:36isn't actually coming
00:17:37for that group of players
00:17:37just now
00:17:38they need to turn it around quickly
00:17:39or Champions League
00:17:40is going to disappear
00:17:41a lot of boos at full time as well
00:17:43now this is a remarkable thing
00:17:45that Pep Guardiola
00:17:46has done time and time again
00:17:47so I don't know why
00:17:48we're so surprised
00:17:49that he seems to be closing in
00:17:50on what was a 12 point lead
00:17:52because April is the month
00:17:53he knows that his teams
00:17:55have to ramp it up
00:17:56and their record in April
00:17:58compared to say Arsenal
00:18:00now this is since Arteta took over
00:18:02so last six years
00:18:03is 2.7 points per game
00:18:05compared to Arsenal's 1.5 per game
00:18:07so in black and white terms there
00:18:10they know how to manage this month
00:18:12and what to do
00:18:13but how do you do that?
00:18:15it's about more than using a squad
00:18:16and injuries isn't it?
00:18:17I think first and foremost
00:18:18it's bought and paid for
00:18:19Pep Guardiola
00:18:20has six Premier League titles now
00:18:22they've done it before
00:18:23I think with Arsenal
00:18:23because they're still quite
00:18:25having managed to get over the line
00:18:26the pressure's starting to build
00:18:27and if you're an Arsenal fan
00:18:29you're looking at that graphic there
00:18:30it's ominous it really is
00:18:31but it's a mental thing Pat
00:18:33it is a mental thing
00:18:34but the great teams know how to do it
00:18:36and you say that
00:18:37it's simply great teams
00:18:39there are not many great teams
00:18:40but you look back
00:18:41the great Liverpool teams
00:18:42they were able to do it
00:18:43certainly like Ferguson
00:18:44he always knew
00:18:45starts in December
00:18:47January, February
00:18:48and builds from there
00:18:49so the very very best managers
00:18:50always manage how to do it
00:18:52get the players that are capable
00:18:54of doing it
00:18:54and if they have to add
00:18:55a little bit say in January
00:18:56an extra player
00:18:57that just gives them
00:18:58that little bit of lift
00:18:59they know how to do that as well
00:19:01so to be honest
00:19:02Man City
00:19:03you can just feel it coming
00:19:05and it must be horrible
00:19:06if you're Arsenal
00:19:06well we will throw it
00:19:08towards next weekend
00:19:09which could be the pivotal weekend
00:19:11of the season
00:19:12of course
00:19:12as the two of them
00:19:13come head to head
00:19:14at the Etihad
00:19:15and time now
00:19:16for March's goal of the month
00:19:18here are the contenders
00:19:36Jesus lets it run
00:19:38and suddenly both
00:19:40Weaver and Van Hecker
00:19:41were taken out of the game
00:19:42Gibbs-White collects
00:19:43and lets fly
00:19:44fantastic goal
00:19:46for Nottingham Forest
00:19:47and for Morgan Gibbs-White
00:19:58Wilson
00:20:00it won't be
00:20:04it's a beauty
00:20:06an absolute peach of a hit
00:20:17it's too long is it
00:20:18blocked in by Jesus
00:20:19it's way to score
00:20:21totally against
00:20:22on a play
00:20:231-1
00:20:24and that is football for you
00:20:33it's a good goal from him
00:20:34Anderson
00:20:35takes it back again
00:20:36shooting opportunity
00:20:37brilliant goal
00:20:39splendidly worked
00:20:40brilliantly executed
00:20:42and they've come back again
00:20:51Sula
00:20:51charging forward
00:20:52and he'll keep it in
00:20:55Stuffles as he goes along
00:20:56but he's got hold of it
00:20:57and he's got
00:20:58to go for goal
00:20:59and scores
00:21:01my word
00:21:02what a goal that is
00:21:03feel the noise
00:21:06it's bouncing in
00:21:07St James's Park
00:21:13Bato's header
00:21:14N'Jai is onto it
00:21:16up against Caicedo
00:21:18kill him
00:21:18and N'Jai
00:21:21a special strike
00:21:24to make it 3-0
00:21:28some absolute belters there

00:21:50under new boss
00:21:51Roberto De Zerbe

00:21:57was at the Stadium of Light
00:22:00Spurs
00:22:00third man in charge
00:22:02this season
00:22:02and no time to settle in
00:22:04seven games
00:22:05to preserve
00:22:0648 years
00:22:07of top flight status

00:22:14Robin Roof
00:22:15sees back in goal
00:22:16after four games
00:22:17out injured
00:22:18but the spotlight
00:22:19is much more
00:22:20on Spurs keeper
00:22:21Antonin Kinski
00:22:22with Guglielmo Vicario
00:22:24ruled out
00:22:24he plays
00:22:25for the first time
00:22:27since being taken off
00:22:28just 17 minutes in
00:22:29at Atletico Madrid
00:22:31a month ago
00:22:34no win in 13 Premier League
00:22:36games for Spurs
00:22:37no win for Sunderland
00:22:39in 15 games
00:22:40against them
00:22:40never mind the history
00:22:42this is all about
00:22:43the immediate future
00:22:44Sunderland can play
00:22:46with the brakes off
00:22:47Spurs simply have to
00:22:50Ranildo
00:22:52Sunderland are playing
00:22:53a patient attacking game
00:22:54here
00:22:56Ranildo
00:22:57Le Fay
00:22:57they've worked it
00:22:58nicely
00:22:59just a little bit
00:23:01too high
00:23:03Brian Broby
00:23:03got off the floor
00:23:05but
00:23:05couldn't stay over
00:23:07the ball
00:23:08leapt as high
00:23:09as he possibly could
00:23:13Manchester Briss
00:23:14saying yesterday
00:23:15the main goal
00:23:16of the season
00:23:17is probably achieved
00:23:18oh I'd say so
00:23:2043 points
00:23:22with 7 games
00:23:22still to play
00:23:23Sunderland didn't reach
00:23:25the 40 point mark
00:23:26in any of the
00:23:28previous 5
00:23:29Premier League seasons
00:23:32Spurs take the free
00:23:33kick quickly
00:23:34Bergvall
00:23:35Colin Mouane
00:23:36having a battle
00:23:37with Alderete
00:23:38who's won it
00:23:40what's happened here
00:23:420-9 slid in
00:23:43and a penalty's
00:23:45been given
00:23:45and Sunderland
00:23:47can't believe that
00:23:49Colin Mouane
00:23:50was caught
00:23:50right in between
00:23:51Luke 0-9
00:23:52and
00:23:53Omar Alderete
00:23:54and with most
00:23:56inside the stadium
00:23:57and I think that's
00:23:57home and away fans
00:23:58expecting goal kick
00:23:59or corner
00:24:00Rob Jones
00:24:01feels that Colin Mouane
00:24:02has been brought down here
00:24:03VAR will get involved
00:24:04now
00:24:05James Bell
00:24:05is in the hot seat
00:24:06and Rob Jones
00:24:07is going to be asked
00:24:08by James Bell
00:24:09to go and have
00:24:09another look
00:24:10so clearly
00:24:11the VAR
00:24:12is of the opinion
00:24:13that that shouldn't
00:24:14be a penalty
00:24:16the verdict of James Bell
00:24:18is that
00:24:18Colin Mouane
00:24:19is already
00:24:20on his way down
00:24:21before
00:24:22any challenges
00:24:23come in
00:24:24and Alderete
00:24:25actually gets a bit
00:24:26of the ball
00:24:26then it's
00:24:27Colin Mouane
00:24:28who initiates
00:24:29the contact
00:24:30I think I'll go along
00:24:31with all of that
00:24:31and Rob Jones
00:24:33has been swayed
00:24:34no penalty
00:24:36sometimes you just
00:24:37have a gut feeling
00:24:38don't you
00:24:38ok he had one
00:24:39and it was wrong
00:24:40most people watching
00:24:42I think had
00:24:42the feeling that
00:24:44no that's not a pen
00:24:49Xhaka
00:24:52really well done
00:24:54by Moukiele
00:24:54now here's Broby
00:24:57Romero crunches in
00:24:58it's
00:24:59played up towards
00:25:00Siddiqui
00:25:01who's watching the bounce
00:25:02carefully
00:25:02and Poro is there
00:25:03first
00:25:04and now Rob Jones
00:25:05the ref brings the play
00:25:06back
00:25:07gives Sunderland
00:25:08the free kick
00:25:08and books Romero
00:25:12right to let it go
00:25:14with the advantage
00:25:15but I think also
00:25:16right to pull it back
00:25:18Sunderland captain
00:25:19directing operations
00:25:20here
00:25:21along with Enzo Le Fay
00:25:22who plays it up
00:25:24and
00:25:24oh Moukiele
00:25:25with a wonderful chance
00:25:28it looked as though
00:25:29he only needed to make
00:25:30any sort of contact
00:25:31and his team
00:25:31would have the lead
00:25:33he sees it come
00:25:34all the way
00:25:34onto
00:25:35well I was going to say
00:25:36his forehead
00:25:36it might have been
00:25:37the side of his head
00:25:38big big chance
00:25:39gone
00:25:44Xhaka is demanding
00:25:45the ball be played
00:25:46into his feet
00:25:49touched that
00:25:49by Colin Mouane
00:25:50for a Sunderland throw
00:25:53and I think
00:25:53O9 is
00:25:54going to take this one
00:25:56in from O9
00:25:59he's not headed away
00:26:00far
00:26:00there's Xhaka
00:26:01and it's wide
00:26:04the expression
00:26:05tells us
00:26:05it was close
00:26:07Xhaka's eyes
00:26:07lit up
00:26:09oh it was close
00:26:15touched on
00:26:15by Siddiqui
00:26:16but Le Fay
00:26:17hadn't gone
00:26:18Robby's
00:26:18taken the ball
00:26:19here from Porro
00:26:20a mistake
00:26:20from Pedro Porro
00:26:21who's then down
00:26:22and the referee
00:26:24does say
00:26:24that it's a free kick
00:26:25for Spurs
00:26:27will not be happy
00:26:28with Brian Broby's
00:26:29use of the elbows
00:26:30Brian Broby's
00:26:31not happy
00:26:32with the fact
00:26:32that Porro
00:26:34went down
00:26:35as though he had
00:26:36been unfairly
00:26:37floored
00:26:39shrugging him off
00:26:40I think the elbow
00:26:40does make contact
00:26:42with Porro's chin
00:26:43at one point
00:26:44but it wasn't
00:26:44thrust back
00:26:45yellow card
00:26:46for Broby
00:26:49that's where
00:26:49it hits him
00:26:50but it's the
00:26:51shrug off
00:26:51with the hold
00:26:52of the shirt
00:26:52that is the
00:26:53real foul
00:26:53I think the
00:26:55referee
00:26:55has got that
00:26:56pretty much
00:26:56right at the
00:26:57end of that
00:26:58all the talk
00:26:59of Tyson Fury
00:27:00and Anthony Joshua
00:27:01to come maybe
00:27:02later in the year
00:27:03I bet Brian Broby
00:27:03could give either
00:27:04of them a scrap
00:27:05might not win
00:27:06but he'd give it a go
00:27:07Shaka up to Broby
00:27:10Romero
00:27:11battling
00:27:11as he always does
00:27:13but a tap
00:27:14to the head
00:27:14of Brian Broby
00:27:15gives Sunderland
00:27:15a free kick
00:27:16and Sunderland
00:27:17players are straight
00:27:18away over
00:27:18towards the ref
00:27:19to remind him
00:27:20that Romero
00:27:21is on a yellow
00:27:23don't think
00:27:24you could argue
00:27:25that that
00:27:25constituted a
00:27:26caution in isolation
00:27:27but it's another
00:27:28one for the
00:27:29charge sheet
00:27:34Rigg
00:27:35doesn't come
00:27:36for Lafay
00:27:36he does come
00:27:37for Broby
00:27:38fired back
00:27:39by Mukiele
00:27:41straight at
00:27:42Gallagher
00:27:43and the Spurs
00:27:44defenders
00:27:44congratulate
00:27:45Antonin Kinski
00:27:46for this save
00:27:47really sharp
00:27:50Roberto Deserbi
00:27:51calls for strength
00:27:52and character
00:27:52through to the
00:27:53break
00:27:56Richalis
00:27:59Doggy
00:27:59Alderete
00:28:00oh he's
00:28:01given that
00:28:01to Solanke
00:28:02and Rufs
00:28:02is there
00:28:03to stop
00:28:03the shot
00:28:05huge let-off
00:28:06for Omar
00:28:06Alderete
00:28:07here
00:28:07very nearly
00:28:08getting himself
00:28:08an unwanted
00:28:09assist
00:28:10gifting it
00:28:11to Solanke
00:28:13incredible to think
00:28:14isn't it
00:28:14that Spurs
00:28:15are in the bottom
00:28:16three
00:28:16and under the
00:28:17very real threat
00:28:18of relegation
00:28:19from the top flight
00:28:20for the first time
00:28:21since 1977
00:28:22back then
00:28:23they went down
00:28:24along with Sunderland
00:28:52Mucchielli
00:28:531-1 Spurs
00:28:540-0
00:28:55Mucchielli
00:28:55will claim it
00:28:56for his second
00:28:57Sunderland goal
00:28:58Kinski
00:28:59completely wrong
00:29:01footed
00:29:01what a cruel
00:29:02blow for Spurs
00:29:03just as they were
00:29:04about to make
00:29:04three substitutions
00:29:05they do so now
00:29:07a goal behind
00:29:09Pat Matassar
00:29:10Matisse Tell
00:29:12and Joao Palinha
00:29:13have come on
00:29:14taking over
00:29:15from Lucas Berg
00:29:16Vellaci Gray
00:29:16and Richarlison
00:29:17a challenge
00:29:23if Chris Rigg
00:29:24draws a huge
00:29:25cheer
00:29:26Tell left
00:29:26on the floor
00:29:27Brobby now
00:29:28trying to get
00:29:28in between
00:29:29Romero
00:29:29and Kinski
00:29:30now
00:29:31did he push
00:29:33Romero
00:29:33into Kinski
00:29:34unfairly
00:29:35and maybe
00:29:35dangerously
00:29:36because Brian
00:29:38Brobby's on a
00:29:38caution
00:29:39the two Spurs
00:29:40players are down
00:29:41does Brobby
00:29:42need to do that
00:29:43I think it was
00:29:44quite deliberate
00:29:46should there have
00:29:47been
00:29:47at the very least
00:29:49the thought
00:29:50of a yellow card
00:29:52for Brian Brobby
00:29:52which would be
00:29:53his second of the
00:29:54game
00:29:55there is no sign
00:29:56of it
00:29:57long enough
00:29:58then to constitute
00:29:59another yellow
00:30:00for Brobby
00:30:01benefit of the
00:30:02doubt given
00:30:02to him
00:30:04looks like
00:30:05just a flesh wound
00:30:06for Antonin
00:30:08Kinski
00:30:08the fact they're
00:30:09strapping it up
00:30:09like this
00:30:12Romero is
00:30:12distraught
00:30:13by this
00:30:14he's got to
00:30:15go off
00:30:15Romero
00:30:16consoled by
00:30:17every one
00:30:17of his
00:30:18teammates
00:30:18as he
00:30:19goes to
00:30:20the touchline
00:30:21and Kevin
00:30:21Danso
00:30:22comes on
00:30:24the armband
00:30:25will be
00:30:25passed on

00:30:25Micky
00:30:26Van
00:30:26De Ven
00:30:31Jacka
00:30:32over the top
00:30:32what a run
00:30:33this is by
00:30:33Siddiqui
00:30:34good control
00:30:35now Chris
00:30:35Rigg
00:30:36what a block
00:30:37that is
00:30:37a combination
00:30:38of Van
00:30:39De Ven
00:30:39and Danso
00:30:39really important
00:30:41that
00:30:41it goes to
00:30:42two
00:30:42Spurs are
00:30:43done
00:30:44only one
00:30:45of the last
00:30:46ten Spurs
00:30:47bosses
00:30:47has lost
00:30:49their first
00:30:49Premier League
00:30:50game
00:30:50but it was
00:30:50the last
00:30:51one
00:30:51Igor Tudor
00:30:58again
00:30:58Xavi
00:30:59Simons
00:31:01the doggy
00:31:02has made
00:31:02a break
00:31:03into the
00:31:03box
00:31:03Pedro Porro
00:31:04finds him
00:31:05and gets
00:31:05the return
00:31:06and rifles
00:31:07over the top
00:31:08but it was
00:31:09either deflected
00:31:10or saved
00:31:10by Rufs
00:31:11and I fancy
00:31:12it's the latter
00:31:12got the tips
00:31:13of his gloves
00:31:14to it
00:31:14the Sunderland
00:31:15keeper
00:31:15keeping out
00:31:16what would
00:31:17have been
00:31:17a thunderous
00:31:18equaliser
00:31:18and a vital
00:31:19one
00:31:19from Pedro Porro
00:31:31Sunderland win
00:31:31back-to-back
00:31:33victories
00:31:33in the
00:31:34Premier League
00:31:34for only the
00:31:35second time
00:31:36this season
00:31:36but Spurs
00:31:38now are
00:31:38absolutely
00:31:39amongst the
00:31:39favourites
00:31:40for the drop
00:31:40because in
00:31:422026
00:31:42their record
00:31:43is now
00:31:44drawn five
00:31:45lost nine
00:31:47their worst
00:31:48run
00:31:48in the league
00:31:49since
00:31:511935
00:31:53Sunderland
00:31:53won
00:31:54Spurs
00:31:55nil
00:31:56on target
00:31:57off target
00:31:58your goal
00:31:58you want me
00:31:59to be honest
00:32:00with you
00:32:00go on
00:32:01doesn't matter
00:32:02for me
00:32:03if it's me
00:32:04it's me
00:32:04if it's not me
00:32:05doesn't matter
00:32:06the most important
00:32:07that this shoot
00:32:08was inside
00:32:10and
00:32:11we defend
00:32:11very well
00:32:12until the end
00:32:12and we take
00:32:13the three
00:32:13points
00:32:13and I think
00:32:14this is the
00:32:14most important
00:32:15you've achieved
00:32:15your goals
00:32:16for the season
00:32:17but have you
00:32:18got new goals
00:32:18in place now?
00:32:19yeah I think
00:32:20the players
00:32:21are ambitious
00:32:22for us
00:32:23as a club
00:32:23I think
00:32:24we want
00:32:25to stay
00:32:26consistent
00:32:27and probably
00:32:28the top ten
00:32:29is a good target
00:32:29for Sunderland
00:32:31and after that
00:32:32if you are
00:32:32consistent
00:32:33in the top ten
00:32:33maybe sometimes
00:32:34you can achieve
00:32:35something more
00:32:36I can do
00:32:37a big brother
00:32:38a father
00:32:39they don't need
00:32:40a coach
00:32:42my work
00:32:42is not too much
00:32:43on the pitch
00:32:44but it's to help
00:32:45these players
00:32:46because they are
00:32:47good guys
00:32:47and I'm sorry
00:32:48for them
00:32:50because I would like
00:32:51to give
00:32:52something more
00:32:53in energy
00:32:55in confidence
00:32:57in what
00:32:58the players
00:32:58need to play
00:32:59football
00:32:59I'm sure
00:33:00if we
00:33:02are able
00:33:03to win a game
00:33:04everything
00:33:05goes to change
00:33:07Roberto De Zerbi
00:33:08there recognising
00:33:09his role
00:33:09is going to be
00:33:10one of psychologists
00:33:11as much as head coach
00:33:12isn't it
00:33:13at the moment
00:33:13this was of course
00:33:14his first game in charge
00:33:15you've hot-footed it
00:33:16from the Stadium of Light
00:33:17did you see something
00:33:18anything different
00:33:19about Spurs today?
00:33:20At the start
00:33:21yes there was something
00:33:22but you would get that
00:33:23young managers
00:33:23had a woodwind
00:33:24before the game
00:33:24they've simplified
00:33:25the tactics
00:33:26that's fine
00:33:27so they all know
00:33:27what they're doing
00:33:28and I liked when they start
00:33:29I mean you've got
00:33:30the two centre-backs
00:33:31going wide
00:33:32that's fine
00:33:32normal
00:33:33but look how high
00:33:33your doggy is
00:33:34you think
00:33:34yeah good
00:33:35that's a positive start
00:33:36you've got the three centre
00:33:37well the centre-falls
00:33:38each one of them
00:33:39but they're all really
00:33:40high up the pitch
00:33:40and that's a good way
00:33:41to start
00:33:42front foot
00:33:42see if you can put
00:33:43a little bit of pressure
00:33:44on
00:33:44and do you know what
00:33:45it's okay at the front
00:33:46there's a liveliness
00:33:47about them
00:33:48a sharpness
00:33:49your doggy makes
00:33:49a big big difference
00:33:51when he's back
00:33:51because look
00:33:52he wants to get in that area
00:33:53dragging players away
00:33:54and that leads to a little bit
00:33:56of space there
00:33:56and this was a half a chance
00:33:58for Bergvot
00:33:58doesn't quite get in the end
00:33:59and it's a shame
00:34:00that Poro again
00:34:01right full-back
00:34:02he's up there
00:34:03and he has a shot
00:34:03and it's on target
00:34:04once again
00:34:05go wide there
00:34:06look at how high up
00:34:08those forwards are
00:34:09right up the pitch
00:34:10they're making a lot
00:34:10of space there
00:34:11thinking we're good enough
00:34:12to pass out
00:34:13play it
00:34:14believe in yourselves
00:34:15a little bit
00:34:16which we weren't seeing
00:34:17a lot beforehand
00:34:18but they've managed
00:34:19to do that there
00:34:19winning balls back
00:34:20Galaxy that's what you want
00:34:22them to do
00:34:22to win balls
00:34:23in that area
00:34:23so yeah
00:34:24they finally get into
00:34:25this area
00:34:26and the shame is
00:34:27Richarlison
00:34:28didn't have the power
00:34:29of it
00:34:29and he needs a little bit
00:34:30more of that
00:34:31however
00:34:32you don't want to be
00:34:33unlucky in these situations
00:34:34he wanted to make
00:34:34three substitutions
00:34:35it's 0-0 here
00:34:37he knew his team
00:34:38was tiring
00:34:38but he didn't quite
00:34:40manage to get it
00:34:40done in time
00:34:41so they're set up
00:34:42again positive
00:34:434-4-2
00:34:43they've got two strikers
00:34:44up there
00:34:44they're trying to get
00:34:45in the end
00:34:46they're trying to win
00:34:47the game
00:34:47they're still at 0-0
00:34:48just now
00:34:49but mistakes
00:34:50Colin Gallagher
00:34:51getting close
00:34:51probably doesn't need to
00:34:52chase that
00:34:52Richarlison
00:34:54don't dive in
00:34:54you're out of the game
00:34:55now
00:34:55Gallagher comes back in
00:34:57but he doesn't need to dive
00:34:59don't let him go down
00:35:01that line there
00:35:02should have showed him
00:35:02there
00:35:03didn't
00:35:04but that's just
00:35:05bad luck again
00:35:05so he doesn't get the change
00:35:06that he wanted to make
00:35:07and then he gets that
00:35:08little bit of a bad luck
00:35:09as well
00:35:10in the midst of it all
00:35:11do not forget
00:35:12although the story is
00:35:13that Spurs are having
00:35:14a tough time
00:35:15Sunderland
00:35:15were absolutely magnificent
00:35:17and their fans by the way
00:35:18I have to say
00:35:19the noise in the stadium
00:35:20it's an absolute joy
00:35:21to be there
00:35:21but Polinia
00:35:22don't lie down
00:35:23you're 1-0 down
00:35:25you need these points
00:35:26now you're 3v2
00:35:27it's ok
00:35:28you've got this sorted
00:35:29they'll not get by you
00:35:30one missed tackle
00:35:31again
00:35:31another missed tackle
00:35:33you should never be
00:35:34getting chances
00:35:35out of this
00:35:35and it's the old
00:35:36knife through butter
00:35:37you cannot allow
00:35:38that to happen
00:35:39and that's a real
00:35:40worry for him
00:35:41he's got a lot
00:35:42of things to do
00:35:43and it underlines it
00:35:45with these statistics
00:35:46the tackles
00:35:47that are made
00:35:48and won
00:35:4915 to Sunderland
00:35:505 to Spurs
00:35:51and I think most of Spurs
00:35:52were in those first
00:35:5320 minutes or so
00:35:54you need to fight
00:35:56we talk about it
00:35:56at the end of the season
00:35:57you need to fight
00:35:58and at the moment
00:35:59that's just not enough
00:36:00for the entirety of the game
00:36:01there was a positive
00:36:02for Spurs
00:36:03and certainly a positive
00:36:04for Antonin Kinski
00:36:05who of course
00:36:06was taken off
00:36:07after 17 minutes
00:36:08against Atletico Madrid
00:36:09by Igor Tudor
00:36:10just about a month ago
00:36:12I think a lot of people
00:36:13don't think they'd see him
00:36:14again in a Spurs show
00:36:15it must have taken
00:36:16a lot of mental fortitude
00:36:17to get himself
00:36:18out there today
00:36:19as a goalkeeper
00:36:20you can appreciate
00:36:20the strength of character
00:36:22yeah I was one of those people
00:36:23I didn't think you'd see him
00:36:24pull on a Spurs shirt again
00:36:26and today was all about
00:36:27just getting through it
00:36:28he needs to get through it
00:36:28not make any mistakes
00:36:29and it doesn't come
00:36:31easier than this to start
00:36:32you just need a good contact
00:36:33you do
00:36:34you need a good first contact
00:36:35I know it's just a simple
00:36:36touch over the bar
00:36:37but it's a positive action
00:36:38and that's what sets you off
00:36:40and then his distribution
00:36:41was solid throughout the game
00:36:42he didn't put a foot wrong
00:36:43you see the ball out to here
00:36:44lovely strike
00:36:45confident strike
00:36:46on the front foot
00:36:47starting to try and get things done
00:36:48and this here
00:36:49would have done him
00:36:49the word of good
00:36:50fantastic save
00:36:51out quickly
00:36:52big and brave
00:36:53and either gone in at half time
00:36:54feeling a million dollars
00:36:55feeling
00:36:55I can do this
00:36:57and you can see
00:36:58when your luck is out
00:37:00your luck really is out here
00:37:01it takes to the deflection
00:37:02absolutely no chance of it
00:37:03and if you need
00:37:04a visual representation
00:37:05of Spurs season
00:37:06you can see a crisp packet
00:37:07just in the bottom corner
00:37:08there just floating in the wind
00:37:11and then this here though
00:37:12this could be a problem
00:37:13for Spurs
00:37:14Romero had to come off
00:37:15injured from this
00:37:16and I think this just comes
00:37:17from Kinski not having
00:37:18his starting positions
00:37:19quite drilled yet
00:37:20not used to being
00:37:21in that first team
00:37:22he ends up with some
00:37:24obviously a big old gash
00:37:25on his head
00:37:25and Romero coming off injured
00:37:27which could be a problem
00:37:28for the rest of the season
00:37:29it could be
00:37:29and could that image
00:37:30of him crying
00:37:31as he left the pitch there
00:37:32be one of the defining images
00:37:34for Spurs this season
00:37:36I like the way you say
00:37:36one of the defining images
00:37:38because I think there's going
00:37:39to be quite a few of them
00:37:40if they do go down
00:37:41it's torture
00:37:42to be honest
00:37:42they turned the line again
00:37:43to the Spurs fans
00:37:44that turned up were brilliant
00:37:45they really got behind the team
00:37:46they know that their team
00:37:48need them just now
00:37:48because the lack of confidence
00:37:50the deep sadness as well
00:37:52that is there just now
00:37:53and there's something else
00:37:54there's almost a fatalism
00:37:56about it now
00:37:58and I've been once
00:37:59in a fight against relegation
00:38:01and that's how it feels
00:38:03everything goes against you
00:38:04OK
00:38:05thank you for the moment
00:38:06Newcastle United
00:38:07travelled to South London
00:38:08looking to revive
00:38:09their faltering season
00:38:10against a Palace side
00:38:11buoyant
00:38:12after Thursday's
00:38:13big European win
00:38:14against Fiorentina
00:38:15commentary comes from
00:38:16Simon Brotherton

00:38:20looking forward
00:38:21to their second leg trip

00:38:25while Newcastle
00:38:27have had three weeks
00:38:28to stew on the
00:38:29disappointment of defeat
00:38:30in the Tyne Weir derby
00:38:31the hosts make
00:38:33five changes
00:38:33with Adam Wharton
00:38:34and Daichi Kamada
00:38:35among those rested
00:38:36ahead of Thursday's

00:39:00do the double
00:39:01over Crystal Palace
00:39:02yesterday having beaten
00:39:03them 2-0 at St James's
00:39:04back in January
00:39:06now it's with Johnson
00:39:08and Jeremy Pino
00:39:09looking for the chance
00:39:10to shoot
00:39:11which he finds
00:39:12Ramsdale saves
00:39:13Munoz is there
00:39:14on the follow-up
00:39:14brilliantly stopped
00:39:18and Ramsdale alert
00:39:21when required
00:39:22after a very quiet
00:39:23opening half an hour
00:39:24or so
00:39:25made the first save
00:39:27and quickly up
00:39:28to make the second
00:39:28as well
00:39:30not been an easy
00:39:31venue for Newcastle
00:39:33United
00:39:33this Selhurst Park
00:39:34pitch in recent years
00:39:36they've only won
00:39:37one of the last
00:39:38ten visits
00:39:40it's a poor ball
00:39:42from Anthony Gordon
00:39:43collected by
00:39:44Jürgen Strand-Larsen
00:39:45and it just gets away
00:39:48from Jeremy Pino
00:39:49which enables
00:39:50Manik Chow
00:39:50to come across
00:39:51and snap out
00:39:52the danger
00:39:57and Crystal Palace
00:39:58makes something
00:39:59of this
00:40:01over the top
00:40:02of the crossbar
00:40:03off the head
00:40:04of Canvaux
00:40:05who'd come up
00:40:06from the back
00:40:08that would have been
00:40:09for his first
00:40:10Crystal Palace goal
00:40:12got up superbly
00:40:13beat Ramsdale
00:40:14to it
00:40:16quite good form
00:40:17Crystal Palace
00:40:17going into this match
00:40:18unbeaten in the last
00:40:19five in all competitions
00:40:20before today
00:40:24good approach here
00:40:25moving the ball
00:40:26around superbly
00:40:27Osulis there
00:40:30and from point blank
00:40:31range
00:40:32fires it home
00:40:33a lovely
00:40:34short
00:40:35sharp
00:40:35interchange
00:40:36of passes
00:40:37on the right
00:40:37hand side
00:40:40and then
00:40:40after an initial
00:40:41fumble
00:40:42Osula just
00:40:43getting there
00:40:45sorted his legs
00:40:46out in time
00:40:47and lashed it
00:40:48past Henderson
00:40:50and it's more or less
00:40:51the first thing
00:40:52Dean Henderson
00:40:53has had to do
00:40:54pick the ball
00:40:55out of the back
00:40:55of his net
00:40:56with just over
00:40:57a couple of minutes
00:40:58remaining in the
00:40:59first half
00:41:01Palace now
00:41:02are going to have
00:41:03to come out
00:41:04and be a little
00:41:04more proactive
00:41:07Munoz
00:41:08gets away from
00:41:09Chris Richards
00:41:10and Osula
00:41:12could be in here
00:41:12once more
00:41:13it's still
00:41:13Osula
00:41:14big save
00:41:15by Dean
00:41:15Henderson
00:41:17early second
00:41:18half opportunity
00:41:19for Newcastle
00:41:20all given away
00:41:21and Osula
00:41:22quick to pounce
00:41:23but Henderson
00:41:25able to make
00:41:32the block
00:41:34combos passing
00:41:35to Mitchell
00:41:35who sent it
00:41:36across
00:41:39here's
00:41:39Jeremy Pino
00:41:40it's the best
00:41:40we've seen
00:41:41from Paris
00:41:41for a little
00:41:42while
00:41:42certainly
00:41:43the best
00:41:43we've seen
00:41:44in the second
00:41:44half
00:41:46worth a try
00:41:47and not too
00:41:48far over the
00:41:48top of the bar
00:41:55the chase
00:41:55here
00:41:56and Malik
00:41:56Chao
00:41:57and Jean-Philippe
00:41:58Mateta
00:41:58Chao
00:41:59is getting
00:41:59a handful
00:42:00or two
00:42:00of Mateta's
00:42:01shirt
00:42:02Mateta
00:42:02getting the

00:42:04the goal
00:42:05in the
00:42:05Holmesdale
00:42:05end
00:42:07and there's
00:42:08going to be
00:42:08a yellow

00:42:09for the
00:42:09Newcastle
00:42:10central

00:42:15subtlest
00:42:15of shirt
00:42:16pulls
00:42:16was it

00:42:32so close
00:42:32to equalising
00:42:34there's
00:42:35the header
00:42:35I think
00:42:36the frame
00:42:36of the
00:42:37goal
00:42:37is still
00:42:37rattling
00:42:43Tallis
00:42:43at the

00:46:02feeling
00:46:03tough
00:46:04one to

00:46:04I would
00:46:04imagine
00:46:05at the
00:46:05end
00:46:05of that
00:46:07we had
00:46:08control
00:46:08of that
00:46:09first
00:46:09half
00:46:09for the
00:46:10majority
00:46:10of it
00:46:10I thought
00:46:11we looked
00:46:12pretty
00:46:12comfortable
00:46:12in the
00:46:12game
00:46:13played
00:46:13some
00:46:13good
00:46:13football
00:46:14come away

00:46:21currently

00:46:26where
00:46:26it
00:46:27takes
00:46:27us
00:46:27I think
00:46:27the
00:46:28attitude
00:46:28of the
00:46:28players
00:46:28is
00:46:29good
00:46:29I think
00:46:30the will

00:46:31but
00:46:31we

00:46:32enough
00:46:32and
00:46:33certainly

00:46:40we were
00:46:40a little
00:46:41bit
00:46:41lucky
00:46:42I think
00:46:43it was
00:46:43a penalty
00:46:43but
00:46:44if you

00:46:59to
00:46:59come
00:46:59and
00:47:00lift
00:47:00it
00:47:00yeah
00:47:01definitely
00:47:02I'm always
00:47:02confident
00:47:03and I always
00:47:04try to help my
00:47:05team to win
00:47:06and I'm a winner
00:47:08I always want to win
00:47:09and in my head I was like
00:47:11I have a chance
00:47:12three goals in four days
00:47:14pretty decent week
00:47:15yeah I think I can do better
00:47:19well his confidence is what turned the game for Crystal Palace
00:47:22his introduction
00:47:23Jean-Philippe Mateta was the defining moment really
00:47:25yeah it was absolutely perfect for him this game was
00:47:28fresh off of 80 minutes in the week against Fiorentina
00:47:32basically you just want Big Jean to come on
00:47:34give me everything you've got for half an hour
00:47:36run around
00:47:36get on the end of things
00:47:38bring people into play
00:47:39hold it up
00:47:40be a big old barrier
00:47:41big old worry
00:47:42and that's exactly what he does
00:47:43you can see it getting hold of it
00:47:44bringing people into play
00:47:45he wins the throw in here
00:47:46but you can see the reaction
00:47:47it gets the Palace fans going
00:47:49and then this is the goal that he scores as well
00:47:51it's the ball
00:47:52lovely ball over to the top
00:47:53Terrett Mitchell
00:47:54lovely and calm with it
00:47:55cuts it back
00:47:55big Mateta's there
00:47:57doing what good strikers do
00:47:59getting on the end of things
00:47:59finding things in the box
00:48:01little places to be
00:48:02little
00:48:02I love that from him
00:48:03and then this here
00:48:05really really poor from Sven Botman
00:48:06really really silly foul to give away
00:48:08it's late on
00:48:09it's the 95th minute
00:48:10who do you want to take your penalty for you?
00:48:12Jean-Philippe Mateta
00:48:13puts it in the back of the net
00:48:14and Palace fans might not thank me for saying smash and grab
00:48:17but they are always the sweetest ones
00:48:19they really really are
00:48:20Eddie Howe doesn't seem
00:48:22and there you can see
00:48:22you know his stats for the game
00:48:24speak for themselves don't they
00:48:26and his performance obviously
00:48:28gave them the victory
00:48:29which went against the first half
00:48:32for Newcastle
00:48:32who you know
00:48:33took the lead into the break
00:48:34and he doesn't sound
00:48:35too down about it
00:48:37Eddie Howe
00:48:38but they have dropped 25 points
00:48:40from winning positions
00:48:41so far this season
00:48:42Pat
00:48:42which is obviously top of
00:48:43of the Premier League
00:48:45in terms of that stat
00:48:46unenviable stat
00:48:47just 10 of those points
00:48:48and they're in the Champions League place
00:48:49yeah
00:48:49and it tells you
00:48:50how close it is
00:48:51and how tight it is
00:48:52and I actually think
00:48:53it just underlines
00:48:54the problem that he's had
00:48:55for a long time
00:48:55maybe most of the time
00:48:57he's been at Newcastle
00:48:58the squad isn't deep enough
00:48:59especially with the fact
00:49:01that they've been playing
00:49:01European football
00:49:02getting to cup finals
00:49:04this season
00:49:04they get to a cup semi-final as well
00:49:06and probably two legs of that
00:49:08if they didn't have those cups
00:49:09particularly Europe
00:49:10for a year
00:49:11I think they're a top 5 team
00:49:12I think they're a good enough player
00:49:13and I think he's a very
00:49:14very good manager
00:49:15and there's a lot of managers
00:49:16when they have a difficult
00:49:18wee period like this
00:49:19you know
00:49:19they just kick them out
00:49:20and say
00:49:20we'll go for the next guy
00:49:22the devil you know
00:49:23sometimes is a better one
00:49:24and I think Eddie Howe
00:49:25I would absolutely
00:49:26be sticking by them
00:49:27however
00:49:28I know a number of Newcastle fans
00:49:30are beginning to really waver
00:49:31at the moment
00:49:32I agree
00:49:32I agree with Pat
00:49:33I think
00:49:34it's better the devil you know
00:49:35sometimes
00:49:35it's been their problem
00:49:36for a couple years now
00:49:37is that strength in depth
00:49:38and when you are in European competition
00:49:40it really does spread it thin
00:49:41and if they were to get rid of Eddie Howe
00:49:43I think there'd be
00:49:43so many teams
00:49:45sniffing around him
00:49:45to try and slap him up
00:49:46there is something of a pattern
00:49:48with Newcastle
00:49:49and their iconic managers
00:49:50Kevin Keegan
00:49:50five years in his first reign
00:49:52Bobby Robson
00:49:53five years
00:49:53Eddie Howe is now
00:49:54five years
00:49:56there is also that thing
00:49:57isn't there in football
00:49:58where people start to get
00:49:59a little bit
00:49:59you know
00:50:00looking around
00:50:00what's around the corner
00:50:02who could come in
00:50:02and turn this team around
00:50:04but you're both convinced
00:50:05that Eddie is the man
00:50:06for the job
00:50:06I do
00:50:07and I think a lot of real
00:50:08lovers of Newcastle
00:50:10feel that way as well
00:50:11because they like him as a person
00:50:12and remember
00:50:13he got that cup
00:50:14I was going to say
00:50:14the trophy
00:50:15the trophy I think
00:50:16is a very valuable piece of currency
00:50:18isn't it
00:50:18for him
00:50:19and his love
00:50:20with the fans
00:50:21okay
00:50:21Nottingham Forest
00:50:23and Aston Villa
00:50:23return from Thursday night
00:50:25Europa League adventures
00:50:26to face each other
00:50:27at the city ground
00:50:28with Forest needing
00:50:28a win to edge clear
00:50:29of the relegation zone
00:50:30commentary comes from
00:50:31Vicky Sparks
00:50:33these two would meet
00:50:34in the Europa League
00:50:35semi-finals
00:50:35if they get through
00:50:36their last eight ties
00:50:37but today
00:50:38the focus is firmly
00:50:39on the Premier League
00:50:40albeit the different
00:50:41ends of the table
00:50:42Forest make nine changes
00:50:44from the draw with Porto
00:50:45it's the same team
00:50:46that beat Spurs
00:50:47in that huge win
00:50:48before the international break
00:50:49Chris Wood is back
00:50:51on the bench
00:50:51in the Premier League
00:50:52for the first time
00:50:53in almost six months
00:50:54after making his
00:50:55long-awaited comeback
00:50:56from injury on Thursday
00:50:58a late blow for Villa
00:50:59Emi Martinez
00:51:00putting out injured
00:51:01in the warm-up
00:51:02replaced by Marco Bezos
00:51:03Lindelof and Barkley
00:51:05in for Conte
00:51:06and Buendia
00:51:06who are on the bench
00:51:07are the other changes
00:51:08from the win over Bologna
00:51:10Olly Watkins
00:51:11backed a brace
00:51:11in that game
00:51:12and is hitting form
00:51:13at just the right time
00:51:14as he bids to break
00:51:15back into England's squad
00:51:17for the World Cup
00:51:17if he scores today
00:51:18it'll be his 100th goal
00:51:21for Villa
00:51:22fans and players united
00:51:25and a really lovely touch
00:51:27that little lad
00:51:28in the middle
00:51:29running towards the team
00:51:30is a young Forest supporter
00:51:31named Noah
00:51:32who recently overcame
00:51:34his battle with cancer
00:51:37you have to go back
00:51:38to mid-December
00:51:39for the last time
00:51:40that Forest
00:51:41won a league game
00:51:42at home
00:51:42can they end
00:51:44that dreadful run
00:51:45today
00:51:46against a Villa side
00:51:47who have lost
00:51:47on their last two visits
00:51:49to the city grounds
00:51:52Torres
00:51:55Dinia
00:51:55which has made the run
00:51:58fist across and in
00:52:02in fortuitous circumstances
00:52:04Aston Villa take the lead
00:52:07own goal
00:52:08and the congratulations
00:52:10from a Villa point of view
00:52:12go to Morgan Rogers
00:52:14what agony for Murillo
00:52:17and Nottingham Forest
00:52:20neatly worked by Villa
00:52:21probably first time delivery
00:52:23from Dinia
00:52:24and Rogers just fisted across
00:52:26and Murillo couldn't sort
00:52:29put his feet out
00:52:31it's Villa who leads
00:52:33by a goal to nil
00:52:41Villa ahead
00:52:42and they get to have
00:52:43their first shot on target
00:52:45get it here
00:52:46it's Watkins
00:52:49the flag up on the far side
00:52:52but Sells did brilliantly
00:52:56and in a flash
00:52:57Villa could have been
00:52:582-0 up
00:52:59oh he was on
00:53:00he was on
00:53:01had it gone in
00:53:03VAR would have overruled
00:53:05that
00:53:05a vital contribution
00:53:07from Matt Sells
00:53:08in the end
00:53:11Torres
00:53:13Barkley
00:53:13Rogers
00:53:14Anana
00:53:15Villa going through the gears
00:53:19McGinn
00:53:21Rogers
00:53:22off
00:53:25but it would have been
00:53:26a beautiful Aston Villa goal
00:53:29just clicking at the moment
00:53:31for Villa
00:53:31and Rogers
00:53:32powerful drive
00:53:34taking a nick off the woodwork
00:53:41gives White
00:53:45Wiener getting forwards
00:53:50space for Hudson-Odoi
00:53:51lovely control
00:53:53needs to make up his mind
00:53:55finds Williams
00:54:00that's what they needed
00:54:02a little bit of magic
00:54:04from Nico Williams
00:54:07and it's Nottingham Forest 1
00:54:09Aston Villa 1
00:54:11well before this season
00:54:12he'd never scored more than once
00:54:14in a campaign
00:54:15for Nottingham Forest
00:54:16he has now
00:54:18that's his second
00:54:20and what a precious time
00:54:22to get it
00:54:24sweetly struck
00:54:25and we're all square
00:54:30Barkley
00:54:31well held up
00:54:32McGinn
00:54:33well found
00:54:34Rogers
00:54:35can't squeeze it through
00:54:37to Ollie Watkins
00:54:38and that
00:54:39is an opening for Villa
00:54:41squandered
00:54:45here come Forest
00:54:46Hudson-Odoi
00:54:49all of a sudden
00:54:50it's end to end
00:54:51here's Williams
00:54:52he's going to go for goal again
00:54:54and Wiesel just
00:54:56does enough
00:54:58having been beaten
00:54:59at that post
00:55:00by Williams
00:55:01just a few moments ago
00:55:02Wiesel went for safety first
00:55:08super driven delivery
00:55:09to Hudson-Odoi
00:55:11Boris Vance enjoyed that
00:55:13they might enjoy this
00:55:14it's Nico Williams
00:55:16it's Hudson-Odoi
00:55:19and Eagle Jesus
00:55:21with the chance
00:55:22at the far post
00:55:24nice ball in
00:55:25by Hudson-Odoi
00:55:26and you can see
00:55:27his frustration
00:55:28and Jesus
00:55:29can't do more
00:55:30with it
00:55:31under good pressure
00:55:32from Dini
00:55:33it has to be said
00:55:35well this is a moment
00:55:37that the Forest fans
00:55:39have waited
00:55:40almost half a year
00:55:42for
00:55:42Chris Wood
00:55:43about to return
00:55:45to action
00:55:45in the Premier League
00:55:49Dini
00:55:49looking for the round
00:55:50of Jesus
00:55:51and Paul Torres
00:55:52wasn't strong enough
00:55:53Jesus
00:55:54skips white
00:55:54deflection of cash
00:55:56brilliant save
00:55:57Biesel
00:55:57and Torres
00:55:58will bring it away
00:56:01that is a fabulous
00:56:03stop
00:56:03from a man
00:56:04who's only playing
00:56:05because Martinez
00:56:06got injured
00:56:07in the warm-up
00:56:11Telemans
00:56:14still going
00:56:15Telemans
00:56:15here's McGinn
00:56:17great save
00:56:19sales
00:56:22super goalkeeping
00:56:23at both ends
00:56:24in a couple of minutes
00:56:27big strong hand
00:56:38here comes Barkley
00:56:42beaten away by
00:56:43sales
00:56:44and what
00:56:45a miss
00:56:46from Rodgers
00:56:49well for all
00:56:51the world
00:56:51it looked as though
00:56:52this would be
00:56:522-1 Villa
00:56:54sales to the
00:56:55rescue again
00:56:56initially
00:56:57for Forrest
00:56:57perhaps could have
00:56:59done better
00:57:00with the shot
00:57:00sent it right
00:57:02back into the
00:57:02danger area
00:57:03Rodgers was there
00:57:05and Rodgers
00:57:07blazes over
00:57:13here's Telemans
00:57:15Wendy
00:57:16now McGinn
00:57:18Wendy
00:57:19it's Watkins
00:57:25oh they thought
00:57:26that was it
00:57:27they thought that
00:57:28was the lead
00:57:29back
00:57:29they thought that
00:57:30was the century
00:57:31of Villa goals
00:57:32for Ollie Watkins
00:57:33but by the space
00:57:35of a couple of yards
00:57:36Ollie Watkins
00:57:37still
00:57:38199
00:57:40one of the huge
00:57:41objectives for yourself
00:57:42qualifying for the
00:57:43Champions League
00:57:44when you look at the
00:57:44final few weeks
00:57:45of the season
00:57:46how do you feel
00:57:47about where Villa
00:57:48are and how close
00:57:48you are to achieving
00:57:49those objectives
00:57:50very good
00:57:51very good
00:57:52how we are now
00:57:53competing
00:57:54in a quarter
00:57:54final in Euro
00:57:55league
00:57:55and competing
00:57:56for a top
00:57:56five position
00:57:57this point
00:57:57is not enough
00:57:58but of course
00:57:59can help us
00:58:00to get it
00:58:01but now
00:58:02the next challenge
00:58:03is on Thursday
00:58:03and to try
00:58:04to again
00:58:05to set
00:58:05the game plan
00:58:06and of course
00:58:07we were planning
00:58:08the excellence
00:58:08today
00:58:09to win
00:58:09the excellence
00:58:10we didn't achieve it
00:58:11but I think
00:58:12we can be happy
00:58:13how the players
00:58:15react
00:58:15and how the players
00:58:16play
00:58:16and try to
00:58:18keep our game plan
00:58:20strong in 90 minutes
00:58:21playing to win
00:58:22Tottenham lost
00:58:23at Sunderland
00:58:24which leaves you
00:58:25three points clear
00:58:26now of the relegation zone
00:58:27what is your assessment
00:58:28of where Forest are now
00:58:30and the chances
00:58:30of avoiding that disaster
00:58:32as you put it
00:58:33of getting relegated
00:58:36the spirit
00:58:37that I want to see
00:58:38in my team
00:58:38is to have the intention
00:58:41to get points
00:58:41everywhere
00:58:42you need to fight
00:58:43for the points
00:58:45and this is
00:58:46what we did today
00:58:47what we did today
00:58:48it's not possible
00:58:50to suffer
00:58:51with the results
00:58:52of the other teams
00:58:53I don't like
00:58:54to see the games
00:58:54I prefer
00:58:56to focus
00:58:57in my team
00:58:58and to try
00:59:00to get the points
00:59:01until the end
00:59:01of the season
00:59:02we won't tell you
00:59:03next time then
00:59:06well with Spurs
00:59:07dropping points
00:59:08today
00:59:08that proved to be
00:59:09a very good result
00:59:10indeed for Forest
00:59:11and we talked about
00:59:12the fight
00:59:12in the Spurs plays
00:59:14that you want to see
00:59:14more of
00:59:15there's a lot of that
00:59:16in evidence
00:59:16and Nico Williams
00:59:17personifies it
00:59:18yeah
00:59:18he's had a fantastic season
00:59:20and certainly
00:59:21he was the man of the match
00:59:22today
00:59:23the fact that he always
00:59:24wants to get forward
00:59:25he defends
00:59:26he's a good defender
00:59:27etc
00:59:27but look
00:59:27he always finds
00:59:28that little gap
00:59:29there
00:59:29that little area
00:59:30now
00:59:30a very important part
00:59:31of it
00:59:32is that's a good shot
00:59:32winners
00:59:33and fullbacks
00:59:34have to work together
00:59:35you have to understand
00:59:37when one goes long
00:59:38the other covers
00:59:39if you've got something
00:59:40that Callum has
00:59:41son-a-dole
00:59:41he's going right
00:59:42to the line often
00:59:43he's always looking
00:59:44for his fullback
00:59:44because they're a duo
00:59:46they're working together
00:59:47all the time
00:59:48they've got that understanding
00:59:50sometimes he'll go back
00:59:50and help
00:59:51he doesn't need the help
00:59:52on this occasion
00:59:52he does the tackling
00:59:53the normal stuff
00:59:55that you'd expect him to do
00:59:56getting himself
00:59:57into the right position
00:59:58but when he's going forward
01:00:00he doesn't seem to stop
01:00:01does he
01:00:01Nico's always
01:00:03wanting to get into that area
01:00:04putting a little square there
01:00:06because
01:00:06stop
01:00:07wait
01:00:08the ball's going to come there
01:00:09because his winger knows him
01:00:11and he understands him
01:00:12that's
01:00:12all the way through
01:00:13he has made it
01:00:14actually funnily enough
01:00:14on the other side
01:00:16Einer does exactly the same
01:00:18some weeks he does it
01:00:19almost as well as him
01:00:20but this time
01:00:21it was all about
01:00:22Nico Williams
01:00:23but you know
01:00:23the defending stuff
01:00:24he's second favourite
01:00:25but he still gets there
01:00:26he still makes it happen
01:00:27that was one where
01:00:28he could have given away
01:00:29a penalty there
01:00:30but he was sensible about it
01:00:31he was intelligent about it
01:00:32and then he wins the ball
01:00:33and they come out with it again
01:00:34so
01:00:35if you are
01:00:37look at this
01:00:38it's your right foot man
01:00:39you're not supposed to be doing that
01:00:40at this point in time
01:00:41do you know
01:00:42he's one of the best players
01:00:43if not the best player
01:00:44for Forrest this season
01:00:45he has got the fight
01:00:46he has got the battle
01:00:47and that's what keeps you up
01:00:48and those sets there
01:00:50are why he was
01:00:51the man
01:00:51you'll be disappointed
01:00:52that Jens has created
01:00:53his second
01:00:54as a left field
01:00:55but he's got a cheek
01:00:55to get that
01:00:56but to be honest
01:00:57it sums it up
01:00:58how well he's done
01:00:59and how well he's done today
01:01:00Ben we couldn't have you here
01:01:01on your match of the day
01:01:02debut
01:01:02without having a chance
01:01:04to wax lyrical
01:01:05about a goalkeeping performance
01:01:06and Matt Siles
01:01:07gives you the opportunity
01:01:08to do that
01:01:09yeah thank you very much
01:01:10Matt Siles
01:01:10take a bow
01:01:12brilliant performance today
01:01:13he really did earn
01:01:14Forrest a point
01:01:14this one here
01:01:15fantastic
01:01:15you can see the touch
01:01:16from Ollie Watkins
01:01:17just a little bit too far
01:01:18for him
01:01:19but he brushes out
01:01:20so so quickly
01:01:21you can just see here
01:01:22puts that big toe out
01:01:23big curly toe
01:01:24just puts it past the post
01:01:25fantastic save
01:01:26keeps Forrest into the game
01:01:28this one here though
01:01:29is the save of the game
01:01:29for me
01:01:30it really is
01:01:30John McGinn
01:01:31he knows exactly
01:01:33where he's going here
01:01:33Matt Siles
01:01:34he knows that he's going
01:01:35to be putting it back
01:01:35across him
01:01:36he managed to slam
01:01:36the anchors on
01:01:37but then it's about
01:01:38making the save
01:01:39it's about getting
01:01:39that big contact
01:01:40and that's exactly
01:01:41what he does
01:01:41you see here
01:01:41not only is it a good contact
01:01:43it puts it safe out
01:01:44for a corner as well
01:01:45and then Matty Cash
01:01:46with one of those horrible
01:01:47wobbly right feet
01:01:49that he knows he's got
01:01:50I think people don't
01:01:51understand how much
01:01:52of a good save this is
01:01:53you can see it's going
01:01:53through bodies
01:01:54it's wobbling all over the place
01:01:55it's all about getting
01:01:56a really firm contact
01:01:57and that is exactly
01:01:58what Matt Siles does
01:01:59fantastic performance
01:02:00from him today
01:02:01OK we've seen
01:02:02Forest now
01:02:03we've seen Spurs
01:02:04West Ham played
01:02:05of course on Friday
01:02:06Leeds don't play
01:02:07until tomorrow
01:02:08against Manchester United
01:02:09so let's have a little
01:02:10look at the run-ins
01:02:11then and how things
01:02:13stand currently
01:02:14who is your money on
01:02:15to survive
01:02:16and who is going to
01:02:17fill that unfortunate
01:02:1818th place burst
01:02:19who's going first
01:02:20I think having watched
01:02:22the Tottenham game
01:02:23in detail today
01:02:24I was actually
01:02:25really taken about
01:02:26by the lack of confidence
01:02:27the lack of positivity
01:02:29they've got some very good
01:02:30players in that team
01:02:30but when your confidence
01:02:31has gone
01:02:32like Spurs are at the
01:02:33moment it's a real
01:02:34tough place
01:02:35I've been in relegation
01:02:35battles I've had
01:02:36four or five
01:02:37I can't even remember
01:02:38myself
01:02:38four or five relegations
01:02:39and when you're down
01:02:40there and when you're
01:02:41in that rut of losing
01:02:42games like Spurs are
01:02:43it's such a tough
01:02:44place to get out of
01:02:45I've been to see Leeds
01:02:46and thought they're not
01:02:47a team that's going down
01:02:48I've been to see
01:02:49West Ham recently
01:02:50they don't look like
01:02:50a team that's going down
01:02:52and I've been to see
01:02:53Forest and they don't
01:02:54look like a team
01:02:54going down
01:02:56I'm going to be quite
01:02:56silent about
01:02:58Tottenham Hotspur
01:02:59because since the
01:02:59turn of the year
01:03:00that's what they've
01:03:01looked like
01:03:01De Zerbi
01:03:02I'm not saying they're
01:03:02going down
01:03:03but he's got some
01:03:04job to do now
01:03:04Thank you
01:03:05A big week of
01:03:07European football
01:03:08coming up next week

01:03:59Wengamawa
01:04:03Oh brilliant
01:04:05That is fabulous
01:04:07from the 17 year old
01:04:13Wietz to Wengamawa
01:04:14in exactly the same
01:04:15spot
01:04:16He couldn't
01:04:16could he
01:04:18Crosses this time
01:04:19Gagpo
01:04:20Salah

01:04:27to the Anfield

01:04:28for Mo Salah
01:04:31Such a big moment
01:04:32early on
01:04:32in the game
01:04:33Thiago
01:04:34Swarts it home
01:04:36The B's
01:04:38applying an early

01:05:06Oh it's there
01:05:09deflected in
01:05:11by Igor Thiago
01:05:14Goal
01:05:14Goal number 21
01:05:15Goal number 21
01:05:15of the season
01:05:16For most any
01:05:17Brentford player
01:05:18has scored
01:05:18in a single
01:05:19edition
01:05:19in a Premier
01:05:20League season
01:05:23Here comes the cross
01:05:25And Jai
01:05:27O'Brien
01:05:28shot
01:05:29Dewsbury
01:05:29Hall
01:05:30Arrows it
01:05:32into the
01:05:32bar corner
01:05:34Brentford
01:05:352
01:05:35Everton
01:05:362
01:05:40They're queuing up
01:05:41and they score
01:05:43That's
01:05:44Weaver
01:05:44getting forward
01:05:45and putting
01:05:46Brighton
01:05:46into a
01:05:47deserved lead
01:05:49Gandy Oglu
01:05:50back through
01:05:51to
01:05:51Mitoma
01:05:53Tee up
01:05:54Pascal
01:05:54Gross
01:05:55Mitoma
01:05:55might still
01:05:55get a chance
01:05:56here
01:05:56and so
01:05:57might
01:05:57Viefer
01:05:592 goals
01:06:00from the
01:06:00right back
01:06:01have won
01:06:02this game
01:06:03for Brighton
01:06:04Huge
01:06:05celebrations
01:06:06because these
01:06:06are the kind
01:06:07of games
01:06:07you have to
01:06:08win
01:06:08if you
01:06:09have
01:06:09dreams
01:06:10of
01:06:10Europe
01:06:13Here's
01:06:14Truffair
01:06:14He's deflected
01:06:15through
01:06:16and Kruppi
01:06:17puts Bournemouth
01:06:17ahead
01:06:19And that is
01:06:20no surprise
01:06:22Could this
01:06:23be the day
01:06:23that puts
01:06:24the skids
01:06:24under their
01:06:25title challenge
01:06:28Maduweke
01:06:28with the
01:06:29corner
01:06:30Zubomendi
01:06:30comes near
01:06:31post
01:06:31trying to
01:06:32get a little
01:06:32flick on
01:06:32He's won
01:06:33it
01:06:33Bacha
01:06:34Gabriel
01:06:34that
01:06:34top
01:06:34chucked it
01:06:35in
01:06:35the other
01:06:35hand
01:06:37and the
01:06:37penalty
01:06:38is given
01:06:38to Arsenal
01:06:39the referee
01:06:40had a
01:06:40think about
01:06:40it
01:06:41didn't rush
01:06:42to a
01:06:42decision
01:06:44Victor
01:06:44Jokles
01:06:46very big
01:06:47moment
01:06:47this
01:06:49and scores
01:06:51Petrovic
01:06:51has very
01:06:52nearly got
01:06:52to it
01:06:54goal 18
01:06:55of the
01:06:55season
01:06:56and all
01:06:56for him
01:06:571-1
01:07:00Brooks
01:07:01has come
01:07:01through to
01:07:02Scott
01:07:02big chance
01:07:03to win
01:07:03to win it
01:07:03what a
01:07:04lovely goal
01:07:05by
01:07:05Bournemont
01:07:06they've been
01:07:07the better
01:07:08side
01:07:08and it was
01:07:08a lovely
01:07:09move
01:07:11Arsenal fans
01:07:12have seen
01:07:12enough
01:07:13they will go
01:07:14home
01:07:14very concerned
01:07:15is this
01:07:16another season
01:07:17where Arsenal's
01:07:19title challenge
01:07:20will be choked
01:07:21off
01:07:23so we said
01:07:24a very long
01:07:24time ago
01:07:24about an
01:07:25hour ago
01:07:25that we
01:07:25would throw
01:07:26it forwards
01:07:27to the
01:07:27game on
01:07:28Sunday
01:07:28which is
01:07:29now being
01:07:30built up
01:07:30as it will
01:07:30be all week
01:07:31as a
01:07:31title
01:07:32decider
01:07:33I mean
01:07:33it's
01:07:34perfectly
01:07:34placed
01:07:35isn't it
01:07:35because we
01:07:35we approached
01:07:36this at a
01:07:36point where
01:07:37Arsenal appear
01:07:37to be
01:07:38wobbling
01:07:39and Manchester
01:07:39City appear
01:07:40to be
01:07:40cruising
01:07:41so I
01:07:42want to
01:07:42talk about
01:07:42mindset
01:07:43and what
01:07:44happens
01:07:44over the
01:07:45next few
01:07:45days
01:07:45what's
01:07:46Mikel Arteta
01:07:46first of all
01:07:47got to do
01:07:48to try to
01:07:48pull something
01:07:49back from
01:07:50his team
01:07:51who dropped
01:07:52points at
01:07:52the weekend
01:07:52and for the
01:07:53first time
01:07:54lost two
01:07:55games
01:07:55at home
01:07:56I think
01:07:57they were in
01:07:58a difficult
01:07:58position
01:07:59I really do
01:08:00I watched
01:08:00the game
01:08:00yesterday
01:08:01and David
01:08:02Reyes seemed
01:08:03to spend
01:08:03an awful lot
01:08:04of time
01:08:04just stood
01:08:05on the
01:08:05ball
01:08:05and it
01:08:06made it
01:08:06really easy
01:08:07for Bournemouth
01:08:07to press
01:08:08up onto
01:08:08them and
01:08:08make it
01:08:09predictable
01:08:09you watch
01:08:10City today
01:08:10it's the
01:08:10exact opposite
01:08:11City are
01:08:12the ones
01:08:12probing
01:08:13and they're
01:08:13the ones
01:08:13in full
01:08:14control of
01:08:14it
01:08:14so I
01:08:15think he
01:08:15needs to
01:08:15get Arsenal
01:08:16into position
01:08:16next week
01:08:17where they
01:08:18can let the
01:08:18shackles off
01:08:19a little bit
01:08:19more
01:08:19I think
01:08:19Arsenal
01:08:20historically
01:08:20even this
01:08:21season
01:08:21they've been
01:08:22they're a
01:08:23kind of
01:08:23methodical
01:08:24team
01:08:24they're calm
01:08:24and methodical
01:08:25they never
01:08:25really really
01:08:26go for it
01:08:27and I think
01:08:27the pressure
01:08:28that started
01:08:29to be exerted
01:08:29onto them
01:08:30they've started
01:08:30to feel that
01:08:31pressure a little
01:08:32bit too much
01:08:32and then it'd
01:08:32be even more
01:08:33conservative
01:08:34whereas City
01:08:35they're literally
01:08:36the flip side
01:08:37of that at the
01:08:37minute
01:08:37it's easy to
01:08:38say don't
01:08:39try not to
01:08:40feel the pressure
01:08:40and enjoy
01:08:41yourself
01:08:42and you know
01:08:42I was out
01:08:43there in
01:08:44Lisbon during
01:08:44the week
01:08:45and David
01:08:45Reyes was in
01:08:46the studio
01:08:46talking about
01:08:47the importance
01:08:48of enjoying
01:08:48the game
01:08:49and remembering
01:08:50that's why
01:08:50you started
01:08:50playing football
01:08:51as kids
01:08:51and we've
01:08:52seen the
01:08:53games they've
01:08:54been playing
01:08:54in training
01:08:55which appear
01:08:56to be some
01:08:56kind of team
01:08:56building exercise
01:08:58forced fun
01:08:59it kind of
01:08:59feels like
01:09:00it's easier
01:09:00said than done
01:09:01that isn't it
01:09:01you're absolutely
01:09:02spot on because
01:09:03you go and watch
01:09:04Arsenal some of
01:09:04the time at the
01:09:05moment
01:09:05and you're
01:09:06absolutely right
01:09:07it's a bit
01:09:07too prescriptive
01:09:08during the game
01:09:09and that's
01:09:10slow build up
01:09:11for the back
01:09:11every fan
01:09:13is saying
01:09:14exactly the same
01:09:15thing
01:09:15get it forward
01:09:16now if you're
01:09:17one of the
01:09:17creators up
01:09:18there
01:09:18the ones
01:09:18that they've
01:09:19brought in
01:09:19they've brought
01:09:19in some
01:09:20easy etc
01:09:20you want to
01:09:21get the ball
01:09:22in quick
01:09:22if you're a
01:09:23creative player
01:09:24and it takes
01:09:2430 passes
01:09:25along the back
01:09:26to get it to you
01:09:27there's a man
01:09:28marking in front
01:09:28of you
01:09:28a man marking
01:09:29behind you
01:09:29you're not
01:09:29going to be
01:09:30able to do
01:09:30anything
01:09:30you have to
01:09:31move it
01:09:32quicker
01:09:32you have to
01:09:33instill something
01:09:34that I think
01:09:34is very hard
01:09:35for Michael
01:09:35Teta
01:09:37chaos
01:09:38and if he can
01:09:39get that chaos
01:09:40into the game
01:09:41now they do it
01:09:41at corners
01:09:42that's organised
01:09:43chaos
01:09:43that's what they do
01:09:44if they can bring
01:09:45that chaos
01:09:45into the games
01:09:46a little bit earlier
01:09:47they do it with
01:09:4710-15 minutes
01:09:48they go quite a lot
01:09:49but at the moment
01:09:50it was a wee bit
01:09:51certainly in a game
01:09:52against Bournemouth
01:09:53it was a little bit
01:09:53too late
01:09:54and they've got
01:09:55players
01:09:55obviously he can
01:09:56do it as well
01:09:57as he can do it
01:09:58they've got wingers
01:09:59all over the place
01:09:59that can do it
01:10:00but by the time
01:10:01they've hit the ball
01:10:01to them
01:10:02they're double marked
01:10:03he's got to change
01:10:05that a little bit
01:10:05and that's
01:10:06certainly the first
01:10:07thing I think
01:10:08he needs to do
01:10:08they haven't won
01:10:09in the SEF
01:10:09for 11 years
01:10:10and clearly
01:10:11the Carabao Cup
01:10:12was a game
01:10:13that he thought
01:10:14a lot more about
01:10:15since Mikel Arteta
01:10:16because Pep
01:10:17got the bedroom
01:10:17tactically there
01:10:18so how do Arsenal
01:10:19set up tactically
01:10:20I think that
01:10:22Carling Cup
01:10:22sorry the Carling Cup
01:10:23the League Cup
01:10:24I think that was
01:10:24a massive
01:10:26mental obstacle
01:10:27for Arsenal
01:10:28they've really
01:10:29seemed to be
01:10:29struggling since then
01:10:30Man City
01:10:31like I say
01:10:31the absolute
01:10:32opposite there
01:10:32they're really
01:10:33going for it now
01:10:34I just think
01:10:35the game on Sunday
01:10:36next week
01:10:37if Man City
01:10:38do go and win
01:10:38that game
01:10:39I think they will
01:10:40then go on
01:10:40win the Premier League
01:10:41and it's
01:10:43yeah
01:10:43it'll be some
01:10:44kind of a turnaround
01:10:45it really will
01:10:45from
01:10:46I think if they
01:10:47had won against
01:10:47Bournemouth
01:10:47what would have been
01:10:4810 points clear
01:10:49or something like that
01:10:49it's a massive
01:10:50turnaround
01:10:51it really is
01:10:51they would have been
01:10:5212 because they
01:10:52were 9 points yesterday
01:10:53they would have gone
01:10:54back down to 9 points
01:10:55today obviously
01:10:56with a City win
01:10:56should we have a little
01:10:57look at the run-in
01:10:57for what it's worth
01:10:58because the way City
01:11:00are playing at the moment
01:11:00doesn't look like
01:11:01they're going to drop
01:11:02points does it
01:11:02but these are the facts
01:11:05and obviously
01:11:05there's the extra game
01:11:06to squeeze in as well
01:11:07the Palace game
01:11:07where we don't know
01:11:08where that's going
01:11:09because that depends
01:11:10on Palace's run in Europe
01:11:11do you know the other thing
01:11:12up until this weekend
01:11:13I had not wavered
01:11:15it was Arsenal
01:11:16up until
01:11:17and I'm beginning to waver now
01:11:18just after what I've seen
01:11:20over this weekend
01:11:20now it's only one game
01:11:21for Arsenal
01:11:22it wasn't their best game
01:11:23and you will have blips
01:11:24in every single season
01:11:25but because there was
01:11:26so much throughout the group
01:11:28that was uncertain about it
01:11:30you can say whatever you like
01:11:31about the run-in
01:11:32it's actually going to be
01:11:33tough for each one of them
01:11:34it's going to be a fight
01:11:34and a battle
01:11:35it'll still go down
01:11:36in the last game
01:11:37I think if City
01:11:38can carry on playing
01:11:39the way that they played
01:11:40today against Chelsea
01:11:40it doesn't matter
01:11:42who they're playing
01:11:42they'll just blow
01:11:43everybody away
01:11:43they've got of course
01:11:44the second leg
01:11:45of their quarterfinal
01:11:46on Tuesday
01:11:46and Wednesday
01:11:47Arsenal against
01:11:48Sporting Lisbon
01:11:49as well
01:11:50City have got a nice
01:11:51clean run
01:11:51I think even that
01:11:52it takes it out of you
01:11:53it does
01:11:53I know it's an extra game
01:11:55but it's the travelling
01:11:55it's the mental fatigue
01:11:56that part can get
01:11:57in your head as well
01:11:58OK
01:11:58thanks very much guys
01:12:00shall we have a little look
01:12:00at the Premier League
01:12:01table for you
01:12:02the gap at the top
01:12:03is six points
01:12:04Manchester City
01:12:05have that game in hand
01:12:06and Arsenal of course
01:12:08will face them
01:12:09in that huge game
01:12:10next weekend
01:12:11Chelsea remain sixth
01:12:12but the race for Europe
01:12:13is hotting up
01:12:13with just two points
01:12:14separating them down
01:12:15to Sunderland
01:12:16in tenth at the bottom
01:12:17Crystal Palace move into 13th
01:12:19and Newcastle
01:12:20of course move above them
01:12:22sorry
01:12:22Crystal Palace move above
01:12:23Newcastle after beating them
01:12:24at Salas Park
01:12:24Tottenham remain 18th
01:12:26after defeat
01:12:26Ian Roberto
01:12:27deserved his first game
01:12:28while not in Forest
01:12:29and now three points
01:12:30clear of the relegation places
01:12:42my orders
01:12:48Morgan Gibbs White's goal
01:12:49against Manchester City
01:12:51saw him come in third place
01:12:5415%
01:12:55and die
01:12:55in second place
01:12:57on 16%
01:12:58but the winner
01:12:59and it is a little victory
01:13:01for Newcastle today
01:13:02after their defeat
01:13:02to Crystal Palace
01:13:02Willie Isula
01:13:03who got the goal today
01:13:04actually at Salas Park
01:13:0547% for that winner
01:13:07against Manchester United
01:13:09and it was a bluter
01:13:15Asula
01:13:15charging forward
01:13:16and he'll keep it in
01:13:19stumbles as he goes along
01:13:20but he's got hold of it
01:13:21and he's got
01:13:22to go for goal
01:13:23and scores
01:13:26my word
01:13:26what a goal that is
01:13:29feel the noise
01:13:31it's bouncing
01:13:31in St James' Park
01:13:35congratulations to Willie Isula
