00:00next guy is an intriguing proposition uh we talked a little bit about cameron young missed
00:05the cut last year he's going off a 24 to 1 but again four starts here two missed cuts two
00:11top
00:11tens and the missed cuts were both bad putting performance is something he's had a ton of
00:15improvement on his best finishes a tie for seventh in 2023 cam's last three starts tie for seventh
00:20the genesis a place that as you mentioned profiles well for augusta national uh it uh a tie for third
00:26of the api and a win at the players he likes to work the ball right to left this is
00:31a drawer's
00:31paradise i mean could this be a trend buck here where this is that he goes out and gets his
00:37first
00:37major win on the back of you know for years the narrative around cam was is he ever going to
00:43win
00:43a pga tour event is he ever going to get it done well it goes out it wins the windham
00:46plays amazing
00:47at the rider cup at beth page goes out and wins the tours premiere event the players feels like all
00:52that's well in the rear view mirror for cameron young i think so with cam i i have no doubts
00:57about
00:58his abilities uh heading into this week his uh his driving similar to ludwig is it's just on a
01:05different level you know his his accuracy with his length will just dominate so much of the field
01:12that you're just like god he's playing from there he has this club into this par five uh but his
01:17putting has been so good and so his driving and his putting are are two just just superpowers heading
01:24into the week where where i question if cam young doesn't win this week or doesn't contend i think
01:30it'll be because of his either his iron play or just around the green and and what i mean by
01:36that is
01:37can can cam get out of playing kind of rain shots can he get into playing shots out here at
01:44augusta
01:44national he's arguably the one of the like if you put this guy on the range and you sit in
01:50here and
01:50watch him at seven or do you watch him at wedges you're like how could this guy ever not win
01:55at
01:55augusta or not win every week he tees it up i think you just there's there's creativity that's required
02:01at augusta national to win to be able to work it both ways hit certain shots and when you saw
02:05him
02:05really turn the corner on sunday at the players championship it was because he started hitting
02:10golf shots so i want to see cam young do that this week um there's no doubt that his stock
02:16stuff
02:17is good enough and maybe it is with a a wind that is a little bit less this week that
02:22maybe that
02:23it it makes him feel like he can still play creatively but just not have to worry quite as
02:30much about maybe just where these gusts are coming from so i i feel great about cam this week he
02:36could be
02:36a masters champion at the end um and man god what a start to the season it would be if
02:41he's able to
02:41get that green jacket on well and i was curious specifically you know about the the you know you
02:47mentioned the win green firmness and i wonder how how you think that's going to impact decisions that
02:52he makes alongside his caddy which it you know it was it was such an amazing partnership coming down
02:56the stretch there at the players but if you if the difference of the players for you was
03:02not hitting wedges full right like taking advantage of distance by hitting a wedge a little bit softer
03:07maybe flooding a little bit controlling spin that way how do you think the this week's conditions play
03:13into the way he's going to strategize with wedges you know what i mean because because could you if
03:17it's firmer could you could you hit him full or no you could spin it back a little bit right
03:21it would
03:22be helpful to be able to hit wedges high to be able to because you're not quite as concerned about
03:28balls just like sucking back right right so he's not going to be quite as concerned about that
03:32which i think plays to his favor i think when when you know 138 yard gap wedge is 138 yard
03:38gap
03:39wedge that's better for him yes but i still think you're going to have to teeter the ball left or
03:43right at times so just being able to play with a little bit of feel when it's required i think
03:48he's
03:48going to have to have some element of that to win this win this golf tournament next on our list
03:52we got two more in this section tommy fleetwood 25 to 1 made nine starts here only one top 10
03:58his best finish was tied for third in 2024 uh he's he's had four top tens in his five pga
04:03tour starts
04:04this year why why do you think tommy hadn't played better here i mean that's not a terrible record but
04:10just it just because it seems to be such a perfect fit for him and you'd expected maybe a record
04:15that
04:16does look closer to like xander's or something like that and he just never really has had a you know
04:21a
04:21series of of strong finishes at a place that seems like as a great iron player should suit him very
04:26well
04:26yeah i i think the fact that we always keep considering tommy fleetwood to be just like the
04:32best iron player of all time is the stats don't reflect they don't reflect quite as much and so i
04:37want to just like just do a quick little bit of homework here on tommy in his career here he's
04:42he's
04:42had like one or two pop weeks with the irons but the other weeks have been below average to just
04:47average um i'll also see that he's been he's he's a very underrated pitcher of the golf ball his
04:53scrambling stats are something that that are something that always surprised me of how good he
04:57is around the green
04:58you
