00:13Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're taking a look back at the Nintendo GameCube,
00:18highlighting 10 overlooked games that we think deserve more love and attention.
00:30Before we begin, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the bell to
00:35be notified about our latest videos.
00:39Go Go Hypergrind
00:50Gotta love some good old classic cell shading, right?
00:53Well, Go Go Hypergrind blends the frenetic and fun skateboarding gameplay of something like Tony Hawk,
00:59with plenty of slapstick humor, goofs, and gaffs like you would see in something like Looney Tunes.
01:04This game is just a real blast.
01:06While the actual skateboarding gameplay might not be as refined or as intuitive as you might hope for,
01:12it's still lots of zany fun, with plenty of radical tricks to pull off.
01:17However, what makes this game extra special is that you are also encouraged to bail, biff, and otherwise just crash
01:23in some outrageously cartoony ways
01:25that never fails to both make you squirm and laugh out loud. Good times all around.
01:31Disney's Magical Mirror starring Mickey Mouse.
01:33Hot Pong!
01:42I really do have so many fond memories of playing this game back in the early 2000s.
01:48Now, I'm not going to pretend this is a perfect, flawless masterpiece or anything like that.
01:53But for what the game is, namely a cartoony point-and-click adventure game starring, of course, Mickey Mouse,
01:59in a spooky-ish mansion.
02:01Well, it's actually quite charming, whimsical, and fun.
02:04You see, as Mickey, you must explore all of the nooks and crannies of this large mansion.
02:09Finding new rooms, solving some simple puzzles, discovering oodles of secrets, and moving the quirky story along.
02:15Yes, it's super duper simple, and is not at all a long game, but it never outstays its welcome, and
02:21it provides plenty of classic Disney charm and magic.
02:24Botan Kaidos, Eternal Wings, and The Lost Ocean.
02:37Okay, raise your hand if you remember this beloved cult classic 2003 card-based RPG, I sure do.
02:43While this game does have a remaster on Nintendo Switch, which is really cool to see, it's still one of
02:49those fondly remembered GameCube titles that blends unique card collecting and battling with an intriguing
02:55cast of characters, a compelling fantasy-esque story, and a lovely art style. The sense of rewarding
03:01exploration in this game is second to none, especially as you hoover up oodles of Magnus cards
03:06to add to your ever-expanding deck. This, of course, in turn leads to some exciting turn-based
03:11battles. They are card-based battles, basically, where you must use your crafted decks in order
03:16to take down foes. And yes, this game can get uber challenging at times. For a truly unique JRPG
03:23experience from the 2000s, don't miss out on this hidden gem, Mario Superstar Baseball.
03:36Now, it might seem a bit odd to feature a sports game on a list of overlooked video games from
03:42the
03:42GameCube, let alone a full-on Mario game. However, we do rarely ever hear anyone discuss Superstar
03:48Baseball when it comes to great GameCube games, or the best Mario sports titles around. While it might not
03:54match the highs of the Mario Tennis or even Mario Golf games from the N64 or GameCube, it still manages
04:00to be a homerun all in its own right. This game is just pure cartoony, arcadey goodness through and
04:06through, with all of the love and charm you'd expect from a Mario & Pals game. There are loads of
04:12power-ups
04:12to use, a plethora of characters to choose from, plenty of zany baseball fields to play on, and some
04:18truly top-notch baseball mechanics to get invested in. Plus, the game even has a really cool chemistry
04:23system where your team will perform better overall when you have aligned certain players, abilities,
04:29and skills. Good stuff. Gotcha Force.
04:40Gotcha Force is a sort of 3D arena brawler of sorts, in the vein of something like, say, Power Stone.
04:46Basically, you want to collect a whole bunch of robot toys, called gotcha borgs, to battle with,
04:52expanding your inventory to take on ever-increasingly challenging skirmishes. It's so fun to try out
04:57each new robotic fighter in the highly vibrant arenas, trying out new moves and abilities, pummeling
05:03your foes with immense power, and collecting new ones to continue fleshing out your robotic repertoire.
05:09Whether it is just enjoying a simple battle here and there for some fun, or taking on the game's
05:14well-crafted campaign mode, there's a lot to love about this cult classic title. Chibi-Robo.
05:29Fortunately, Chibi-Robo has garnered a bit more fanfare since it was released on Nintendo Switch
05:34Online's GameCube service, and for good reason. It's a super solid and whimsical 3D puzzle platformer.
05:40We honestly believe this game is a stone-cold classic, and it's great to see more players
05:45enjoying the happy and positive vibes of our mini-robot pal. After all, he just wants to tend
05:51to the chores of his family's home. As a helper slash cleaner robot, he's always available to bring
05:57joy to his family through cleaning up messes, solving various conundrums around the house,
06:02chatting with various toys, and gathering plenty of happy points. It's a delightfully charming and joyful game
06:08that deserves a playthrough when you get the time. 1080 Avalanche.
06:21Gosh, we really do need to see the beloved 1080 snowboarding franchise make a return on Nintendo
06:27Switch 2. That would be amazing indeed. 2003's 1080 Avalanche builds upon the fun snowboarding
06:33shenanigans of the N64 outing in some really enjoyable and meaningful ways. This game perfectly
06:39blends downhill snowboarding racing, which especially gets intense and frenetic as you try to keep ahead
06:45of barreling avalanches, and trick-based snowboarding goodness. The controls do take a bit to get used to
06:51here, as they aren't quite as intuitive as, say, Xbox's Amped snowboarding series. However, once you do get the hang
06:57of them, you will be carving, jumping,
06:59tricking, and outrunning avalanches with both style and panache. Skies of Arcadia Legends. Skies of Arcadia's
07:06sky-faring-slash-sky-pirate JRPG goodness first graced us back on the Sega Dreamcast. But in 2002,
07:13the GameCube received an expanded, updated port, basically the sort of definitive edition of the
07:18game in the form of Skies of Arcadia Legends. And let me tell you, this game is absolutely sublime. Yes,
07:24it features many of the quirks and trappings of late 90s slash early 2000s JRPGs, but those things are
07:30honestly also part of this game's many, many charms. You see, as Vice and Ika, you and your fellow
07:36sky pirates will explore massive sky zones, stopping off at various islands to chat with the locals, pick
07:42up quests, and find better loot and gear, take part in some high-caliber turn-based battles, and then
07:47taking back to the skies to just do it all over again, all while enjoying a very captivating story.
07:52It's such a well-crafted game that keeps your attention all throughout its runtime.
08:06Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg
08:19So how about a 3D platforming adventure game where you are in control of giant eggs? Sounds pretty
08:24absurd, right? Well, I mean, yeah, it is, but in the best way possible, of course. You see,
08:29Billy has the awesome ability to ride atop and roll around loads of eggs to both platform and solve
08:35puzzles. It's a unique platforming premise that we really have only seen, I think, in something like
08:41Glover, but done even better here, with a solid amount of polish and style. This overlooked 3D
08:46adventure certainly deserves more love and attention given how creative it is, with things like Billy's
08:52moves and abilities, how lovingly crafted each and every stage is, and how whimsical the visuals and
08:57audio are, all wrapped up in a cozy Saturday morning-esque story. Believe Nintendo, can we get a remaster,
09:03remake, or sequel to this game? Heck, we'd even take it just being ported to NSO's GameCube service. Thanks.
09:10The Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures
09:12Kinda like Mario Superstar Baseball in a previous entry, it might seem kinda odd to feature a Zelda
09:28game on a list of overlooked video games. However, how often do you honestly hear people chat about
09:34Four Swords Adventures versus all of the other Zelda games out there? Perhaps this is due to the fact
09:39that by its very nature, I mean, the title does kinda give it away here, it's a multiplayer cooperative
09:45experience, not a purely solo affair like the majority of other Zelda games in this venerable series.
09:51This game features the classic top-down perspective that you'd be familiar with, from the likes of A Link
09:57to the Past or even Link's Awakening, but is different in terms of gameplay since it's meant to be a
10:02fun
10:02cooperative experience. Okay, now to be a bit fair, you can play the game solo, always switching between
10:07the four links on screen, but it's so so much better when you link up, see what I did there
10:13with the pun?
10:13Link? Cause you can link the… nevermind. You can basically link the GBA link cables together
10:18to have you and three buddies each play as a Link, exploring the vast colorful worlds,
10:23battling baddies, solving plenty of puzzles of course, and hopefully just saving the day.
10:39So what did you think of our picks for this list? What overlooked GameCube games do you have fond
10:44memories of? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
