00:00All right, the drive is alive.
00:02Everybody, take the pants off.
00:03That's what we're doing in the first hour.
00:05Tyler, get them off.
00:06Clint, let's go.
00:07Get them off.
00:08Why are we taking pants off?
00:09No mas pantalones.
00:12I can't take mine off, y'all.
00:14I ain't got no drawers on, so I'm wearing my banana hammock today.
00:18I thought about it today.
00:20No, I didn't.
00:20You went banana hammock and you're free balling.
00:22I didn't free ball it.
00:23I thought about it.
00:24I'm going to tell you, I got my old black Nike drawers on.
00:27Do you?
00:28Yeah, old faithful, man.
00:29I got about 10 pairs of them now.
00:30I got the gray Hanes, baby.
00:32Gray Hanes?
00:32Been through it.
00:33Oh, $3.
00:34$3 a pop.
00:35I think that's what it averaged.
00:36It's all right, man.
00:36You get six pairs for $18?
00:38Yeah.
00:39Yeah, just had to save the den of thieves.
00:41I'm not ready to pull those out.
00:42I'm going to get you some pair of thieves, man.
00:44What did I say, den?
00:45I said den.
00:46Hell, I don't even know them expensive ass girls.
00:48Oh, I don't even know what they're called.
00:49Is it pair of thieves?
00:51Yeah, pair of thieves.
00:52I think den's better.
00:54But you're right.
00:55I do got me a couple of pair of thieves.
00:57Not den of thieves.
00:58Maybe mine are.
00:59Maybe mine are.
01:00Where'd you get those at?
01:01Who picked those up for you?
01:02I got them at Target.
01:03Oh, you found them?
01:04That's where I buy mine, usually.
01:05I'd have bet somebody bought those for you.
01:07Courtney bought them.
01:08Oh, she picked them up.
01:09I knew you didn't make that decision.
01:13I got my banana hammock online, if you were wondering.
01:16Did you?
01:16What color is it, Tyler?
01:17Yellow.
01:18Leopard.
01:21Like genuine leopard?
01:22Like the yellowish and with the black spots?
01:26Oh, man.
01:31Steak night, huh?
01:32There we go.
01:33Yeah.
01:34Steak night, baby.
01:35Ocho.
01:36Steak night in the hammock now.
01:38Ocho said, Ron, I'm ass naked in the bed, so I'm ready.
01:41There you go.
01:42Nice.
01:42Appreciate you listening, Bob.
01:43Hell, yeah.
01:44Don't even put no clothes on, man.
01:46To hell with that, man.
01:47Shoot.
01:48Man, it's a beautiful.
01:50It's 80 degrees in Houston, baby.
01:52Why not?
01:53Hey, you got to be living right.
01:542 p.m.
01:552 p.m.
01:56But I'm stuck in the hammock.
01:57Bucket naked in the bed, boy.
01:59Hell, yeah.
02:00That's good, man.
02:01Just on a Wednesday, huh?
02:03Must be a good off day or it was a good noon or one of the two, man.
02:06Live that.
02:08Got the fan on and everything.
02:10Yeah, man.
02:10Just letting it roll, man.
02:11All right, man.
02:12A lot to get to.
02:13Big day today.
02:14Have a good, relaxed evening, afternoon, ain't you?
02:16B. Scott.
02:17B. Scott, who maybe he takes his pants off when he gets in today.
02:21But B. Scott with us with his Rockets Report 440 coming up as we'll get to him in the 4
02:28o'clock
02:28hour.
02:29So stay with us and hang on out with us.
02:32We're still looking at things as the Combine is on and going here in Indy.
02:38And we heard from Nick Casario yesterday and kind of got a lot of news on a lot of different
02:44things.
02:46And I think one thing that maybe concerns you, Clint, may even go past the word concern, but
02:55maybe something you may fear just a bit.
02:59And that is potentially the thought process of how Nick Casario, D'Amico, Ryans, and the
03:06Texans are going to go into their thought process of spending on free agents.
03:11And here was Nick yesterday.
03:13It's a little long, but here was Nick yesterday discussing that thought at the Combine.
03:19Yeah, I think that whole concept gets a little bit overblown.
03:23So, I mean, again, everybody's got a salary cap.
03:26Everybody has parameters that they have to operate in.
03:28You have to look at your team, and you're going to allocate resources across the team.
03:32Where's that money going?
03:33Some positions are going to have a little bit more than others, all right?
03:36Then eventually it's going to shift to a different position.
03:38So, again, I think the most important thing is how do you put together the best team?
03:42So, I mean, let's go back and look at the Super Bowl.
03:44I would say when you look at the teams that were in the Super Bowl or even the teams kind
03:48of in the championship games, what are the things that stand out?
03:51Run defense, taking the ball away, playing good situational football.
03:54So, I mean, quarterback's a part of that.
03:56So, but, okay, I mean, but that's why those teams won or that's why those teams are in that
04:01position.
04:02So, again, I think you kind of see different trends throughout the league, and the league kind
04:06of goes a little bit in cycles.
04:08So, again, I think that whole concept, I think it gets talked about a lot.
04:12Honestly, I think it gets overblown because, I mean, I'm not sure any of us really understand
04:16what it really means.
04:17You draft players, you add them to the team.
04:19At some point, you're going to keep certain players.
04:21Other players are going to move on.
04:22So, how do we put together the best team?
04:24And the goal is to try to keep it as consistent and competitive as possible over a long period
04:28of time so you don't have any lapses.
04:30All right, that's Nick Casario kind of discussing about, you know, how to put together a team
04:35and in particular around the quarterback, especially the young quarterback on a rookie
04:39deal.
04:40And this will be another year in the last year, Clint, that they will potentially with CJ Stroud
04:47be spending money and having that type of money on free agents without a quarterback.
04:53And it seems like there may be some concern for you with how they approach free agency
04:58and spending money.
04:59Yeah, look, the inability to just acknowledge the different phases of your, you know, where
05:04your team is, if you will, in relation to being able to win a title and being able to
05:08operate a certain way, I think that's a concern of mine.
05:13Like, I love what Nick and D'Amico have done to date.
05:16Um, I love what they've done to quote unquote, build a team and, and, and, and, uh, an organization
05:23that's going to be competitive over a long period of time.
05:27Um, but it's just, we're, we're in a spot where it's, it would be very easy for them to
05:34say, look, we understand that we've got a quarterback that we believe is a championship
05:38caliber quarterback and he's, he's making pennies on a dollar that he's going to be making
05:42in the next two years.
05:43Um, we got an opportunity out here to go out and spend, be a little bit more aggressive
05:47and spend and, and, and build a supporting cast, whether that be with defensive players
05:52or offensive players, we can be, we can spend money a little bit more freely right now than
05:58when we're paying a quarterback 50 to $60 million a year.
06:02And, and I only say that it concerns me because I just feel like the Texans are at that spot
06:08where, you know, you're, you're not, you're not three or four or five middle of the road
06:16to guys.
06:17You feel like you can work with to good soldier type free agents from winning a Superbowl.
06:24I mean, those, those caliber guys, sure.
06:26You got to have them around, but those caliber guys aren't going to help you.
06:30I mean, you know, you, you, the, the Lake and Tomlinson's the, the, the, the, the Jake Andrews,
06:36no disrespect.
06:37I'd be fine if Jake's your center, but, but the way in which you acquired Jake, I think
06:41speaks volumes about the, his value.
06:44Um, you know, there, there's just, and I know Ed Ingram worked out, but, but the way you,
06:49you know, Ed Ingram had, there was no reason for Minnesota to keep him much less for you
06:53to bring him in and start him.
06:54Now that ended up working out, but like those kinds of moves, I don't believe we're going
06:59to get the Texans to an AFC championship.
07:01I don't believe those kinds of moves are going to get the Texans to a Superbowl.
07:05You think they were scared off after, after year one of CJ and then they, when they go
07:10digs and they go mixing and they go Hunter, like they, like to me, when they, we saw it,
07:17that, that was maybe one of the real exciting things is when you figure out who your quarterback
07:22is and you see that you've got a young quarterback that has a chance, which they saw after year
07:27one, generally the thought is, all right, this is the best time that we can really surround
07:34him.
07:34This is the best time we can spend.
07:36And after year one, they did it.
07:39They went out and they, they went and did.
07:41And obviously I know there were injuries and certain things that, that occurred that maybe
07:46stopped that, but I thought it was really weird the next year and we'll see what they
07:51do this year.
07:52But last year they didn't operate like, all right, we got a young quarterback that we
07:58believe in.
07:59And this is potentially the best teams that we can put around him.
08:02Yeah.
08:03They didn't operate that in terms of, of how they spend it, what they put around them.
08:07They seem to kind of go back to like, let's keep building, building up, which was, which
08:12was interesting, which now for me, as you say, you have a bit of a fear.
08:16Like I, I do, I don't know the route that they're going to go this year.
08:20I, that, that one is, I don't know.
08:22Are they going to go there?
08:23As you said, Laken Tomlinson route and Cam Robinson, are they going to go, man, we're
08:28going to go get a Joe mixing.
08:30We're going to be in play for Steph.
08:31Yeah.
08:31Saquon Barkley.
08:32We're going to go get digs because we already got tank it.
08:35We got Nico.
08:36And we're going to add to, we're going to go get the Neil Hunter, even though we got
08:39will.
08:39Like, I just, I wonder which route they're going to attack this year.
08:43Well, I mean, I think that's, that's kind of where my concern is coming from.
08:46I think this group has already built a team and a roster that's going to be competitive
08:50over a long period of time.
08:51Like the organization, the organization is, is ridiculously healthy right now.
08:56I would argue, I know, look, we pick things apart because we cover them every day and it
09:00matters to us.
09:01But at the end of the day, this organization is as healthy.
09:03I think as any organization out there, they know who they are defensively.
09:06They know who they are really as an organization with D'Amico runs at the top, which is a defensive
09:10led football team.
09:11And I mean, they are, they have got, they got a really good thing going from a, a, a chemistry
09:17and a culture perspective.
09:19So they've done a hell of a job.
09:21I think they are absolutely built to sustain that competitiveness for a longer period of
09:28time.
09:28I just hope that behind the closed doors over there at NRG stadium, there's a shift in their
09:33mind of, again, like you said, more of what happened in free agency two years ago versus
09:39what happened in free agency last year.
09:40Yep.
09:41And I'll be honest with you.
09:43I don't, as I've said before, I don't need, I don't necessarily need you to go out and
09:50get three interior offensive linemen and move Titus Howard to tackle.
09:54I don't necessarily need you to go out there and sign the best wide receiver that would compliment
10:00Nico Collins.
10:01You know, I mean, you, you can, you can bolster the defense with a couple of those bigger
10:05moves if you want to, and just say, man, we're going to be even better than we were before
10:08on defense.
10:09I don't care how you do it.
10:10I just hope that the, that inside those walls over there, they're, they, they do realize,
10:14hey, we got a championship quarterback that's on a rookie deal.
10:19Hey, we are on the doorstep and we've got a little, we got to create a little bit of
10:24money so that we can spend it and take a little bit more risk on the front end of this
10:27deal
10:27because man, we are right there.
10:29And by the way, the AFC is wide open.
10:32I know you got some, some, there's no doubt about it.
10:35I think some, some teams are going to return to, to who they closer to who they were previously
10:41versus missing the entire playoffs kind of deal next year in the AFC, but, but there's
10:46still an opportunity there that I don't know how long that door is going to be open.
10:50Yeah.
10:50Text line coming in base power.
10:52Text line 713-572-4610.
10:55I'm with Ryan.
10:55I think after they went all off, all in on offense and it didn't pan out, D'Amico said
11:01never again.
11:03We'll see.
11:03Hopefully that is not the case.
11:05And like, I bet you, I bet you Chicago, they went in after it last year.
11:10I bet you they continue, they're going to continue to try to dive into it right now when Caleb
11:14Williams isn't making big money.
11:15That's why we continue to hear the, the Max Crosby potential going to Chicago.
11:20I think they're going to jump two feet in to try to do what they can while Caleb's not
11:25making you.
11:25Well, look, I mean, I think if you, if we're being completely honest, now this is a different,
11:29maybe this is a different conversation, but, but, uh, you know, you can look at this and
11:33view it as boy, they are more lost than you thought offensively.
11:36D'Amico Ryan's and, and the organization, right?
11:40I mean, you, you, you, you've ran one OC off and changed complete scheme.
11:44You've had major swings in your quarterback play.
11:47You've had, you've had major like differences in your approach from one off season to the
11:53next.
11:54And so you really look at it to your point, right?
11:56You're right.
11:56I don't know what the hell they're going to do.
11:58I don't know what the approach is going to be.
12:00Cause if you look at what happened this year, I mean, it's easy to lean into, boy, this is
12:04new England, the new England Patriots.
12:07I mean, uh, you know, 20 years later doing less doing more or less.
12:12Yeah.
12:12I mean, you know, we, they, they're, they're running backs were always better.
12:16I mean, with the exception of, of Randy Moss that one year, I mean, they, it was either
12:21guys they drafted that panned out and they kept them or deals, Corey Dillon.
12:26Yeah.
12:26Yeah.
12:26So, I mean, it was, there was always a do more with less, which I would argue that
12:30Brady again is, is the goat, but he's the goat of, of multiple categories doing
12:36more with less is, is, is one of them.
12:38And even, even with Randy and like guys like Corey Dillon that had, they didn't play, they
12:43didn't pay full price of what you would have had to pay for them.
12:46They were coming off of something that Antonio Brown, they were coming off of something where,
12:52you know, it.
12:52So is that, is that D'Amico with a little bit of PTSD after spending money on Joe Mixon
12:58and spending money on digs and it not working out?
13:02Or is that the new England Patriot way of doing things coming from Nick Casario, Nick
13:06Kaley, and all the new England, the new England folks, they got in the building over there.
13:10Either way it goes.
13:12I think, I think that's the big question now in Houston is, is it's going to be fascinating.
13:17Do these, do these guys operate?
13:19I mean, I hope, look, either way it goes, I'm rooting, I'm here, but I hope these guys
13:24operate and make moves that, that has the whole world talking about, boy, the Texans just
13:28got real.
13:29That's what it was, man.
13:30When free agency hit two years ago, you remember how quick we were on here?
13:34Bam.
13:35Daniil Hunter.
13:36Whoa.
13:37Okay.
13:37Hell yeah.
13:38And then like Stefan Diggs and we're like, oh, they're, they have put themselves in the
13:43category to be Superbowl contenders.
13:45When you start to look at their team, then Joe Mixon comes down.
13:48You're like, all right, well, they need an improvement at running back.
13:50All right.
13:51They've got an improvement there.
13:52Now we didn't know how, how much Joe had left in the tank.
13:55Now we were like, man, they're in here in Saquon Barkley.
13:57All we hear is this Eagles and Texans.
13:59He's just going to choose between the two.
14:01Like that was, that was, that was them feeling it.
14:04Where, where are they at?
14:06Where are they?
14:06Cause I do think clinic could go either way.
14:09They get very well looking at last year and say, man, that's the best year we had.
14:12Yeah.
14:13We're 12 and five.
14:14That was the best year we had the way we did it.
14:16We finally got there.
14:17That's a, that, that is one that is going to be one to watch.
