00:05michigan and arizona coming up on saturday look if you haven't seen arizona they're legit their
00:12resume is every bit as impressive impressive as michigan um i mentioned before the break how they
00:17have shot more free throws on any team in college basketball in the last six years
00:21they live on the line here's something they don't do michigan will not face has not faced a team
00:27this year that takes as few threes as arizona they only take 16 a game they played a alabama team
00:34early in the tournament that takes 45 three-pointers in a game arizona takes 16 they not one michigan
00:42opponent takes that few st louis took a bunch too right st louis is a big three-point shooting team
00:47too heavy and in terms of three-point fta um but now the anthony del orso kid the australian lumberjack
00:55he can come off the bench and hit threes for them and uh brayden burry's the freshman is 13 of
01:0319
01:04in the tournament from beyond the arc so maybe that's something that he they have to be more
01:10cognizant of than than originally one would think but uh feedback coming in we will get to that but
01:16let's get to your phone calls we go to troy you're on 97 100 troy hey how's it going guys
01:22what's up
01:24oh not much i was just going to chime in a little bit about like the purdue game i mean
01:29when we lost
01:30to them was in the big 10 championship didn't really mean much to michigan they were going to
01:35be the one seed but um you know when we went on the road at purdue dominated them beat them
01:41by 11
01:42i think that game meant more in my opinion and with michigan with their bench players and role
01:50players trey mckinney coming off the bench kid's been a stud i just i really think it's going to
01:55be a war but i like michigan's chances well lorraine certainly have a chance i mean they have a really
02:01good chance to win this game but arizona arizona it will get into the lane and they'll get fouls on
02:07you and um i think that's a big part of this game is how the whistles go you know the
02:12motivation in the
02:13big 10 tournament i mean a case can be made for that i think the problem is when you when
02:19you get
02:19to a game you still want to win it you just you want to win it now did purdue want
02:25it more maybe
02:26they wanted it more but there's no question what arizona did against purdue and what they've done
02:31in this tournament's been very very impressive 248-539-9797 here's some of the feedback greg
02:39writes in simple mara has to stay out of foul trouble he's the difference maker on both ends
02:43of the floor if he's sitting on the bench for long stretches michigan will struggle
02:47tom says the key is the paint arizona's offensive strength and michigan's defensive strength the
02:52underrated key is bench play michigan is deeper but can gale and mckinney contribute if arizona gets
02:58in foul trouble can they can their bench hang in there i think michigan's depth comes from
03:04everybody in the starting five is really good and then they only go two or three deep on the bench
03:08it's not necessarily a deep team but the quality of the players from one to seven or eight is really
03:15good this is a great matchup the only thing i mean i feel like the only thing that's lacking from
03:20this
03:20matchup is it's not for the title game like if they could reseed i would ask them to reseed so
03:24michigan
03:25and arizona can meet in the title game uh with that being said they got to play you know to
03:29get to the
03:29title game and i think that you've hit on a lot of points doug that i agree with that one
03:33is
03:33the foul the free throw line shooting arizona's front court can match up with michigan's front
03:38court so morrow's got to stay out of foul trouble yax was got to stay out of foul trouble because
03:42that's what arizona does they pound the paint they get to the free throw line that's what they've
03:46been doing all year and they continue to do it throughout the tournament where michigan has
03:50the advantages they've been nailing threes all tournament long i mean they've been curb stopping
03:54every team because they in part because they can go inside outside and the outside's been on fire
03:58they shoot and make more threes than arizona does if that continues i like michigan to win this game
04:03if their three-point shooting is off then it's all going to depend on who controls the paint better
04:06and i think arizona's got that front court to be able to match with michigan which other teams
04:10haven't been able to do all tournament long i got they got they look a lot like the west coast
04:15version of michigan jeremy writes in the key is keeping the bigs out of foul trouble especially
04:19mara arizona has bigs to match up it could present a problem if either mara or johnson have to go
04:24to
04:24the bench underrated key is can roddy gale stay hot from three his three game was essentially
04:29non-existent before the tournament he was the guy that would leave open yeah you know if you had to
04:34choose somebody to leave open to shoot a three it'd be gale but he's been hitting coach day says take
04:39care of the ball johnson amari hit their averages and stay out of foul trouble if every player hits
04:44their averages and you get anything from 42 michigan should be fine uh more as johnson jr has to play
04:51much better uh from j belly how do i root if michigan loses i win my bracket if michigan wins
04:59it'll be a trip to the finals lol well let me look at your twitter profile and see if it
05:06says
05:07sports is life everything else is just details unhealthy love of tigers lions wwe chelsea soccer
05:13and the university of michigan well how much money is in your bracket that's a excellent question to ask
05:20i i mean i mean if it's a if it's a couple hundred bucks then i go for your team
05:27yeah
05:28if it's twenty thousand dollars it's a couple thousand dollars yeah yeah i mean how what would
05:35what would be your your breaking point to have your root against michigan state in the final four
05:41this is an uncomfortable question but it is honestly i i wouldn't i know i don't care about the money
05:47because what is it for us to get in any pool i've done has been no more than twenty dollars
05:52so yeah but stoney's pool has a huge payout it does it does i wouldn't care i want my team
05:57to
05:57yeah i hear you uh roddy gale jim says is the key when he has a strong game michigan wins
06:05kevin writes in key u of m's ability to guard the rim without getting into foul trouble zona's offense
06:10runs inside out and michigan's bigs need to match that them on defense underrated factors more as
06:15johnson his confidence and touch on offense needs to come back quickly after some rough games yeah
06:21mores felt like he was consistently the same guy night in night out and it hasn't necessarily been
06:28that he did have an eight for eight game earlier in this this tournament but there have been some
06:35what felt like uncharacteristic struggles but uh here's a little tide that maybe michigan fans
06:42didn't know but the six foot eight big for arizona koa pete and that's a kid who had 30 points
06:50in his
06:50first game against the defending national champ florida which is quite a debut his older brother
06:57was recruited by michigan to play football andras pete who is an offensive tackle i think he's still
07:04in the nfl went to stanford but michigan tried to recruit his older brother in football to play for
07:11them 248-539-9797 let's go to dan next on 97 one hi dan hey guys hey dan good morning
07:21i want to talk about the michigan arizona game yep i think i want michigan to win but i think
07:29the issue
07:29will be arizona's guard play is very talented they're young and they're very quick they remind
07:36me of wisconsin the guard play and i think that will be michigan's issue is containing the arizona
07:44guard in the paint well braden burry's one of their guards is a freshman and he was on the all
07:50big 12
07:50uh made all big 12 i believe he was first team jaden bradley was all big 12 player of the
07:55year
07:56those are your two starting guards those guys are elite the one thing that's very different between
08:00michigan and wisconsin is arizona doesn't shoot the three one through five and that makes life on
08:06those guards in wisconsin a little bit easier but yes they are a very very very good backcourt
08:12248-539-9797 if you want to continue this what's the key and what's the underrated key
08:20michigan and arizona on saturday final four talk here on karshen anderson uh gator kang had a dream
08:25it was work related oh boy we'll get to that at 11 36 here on karshen anderson on 97.1
