00:52there are plenty of things going on in the athletic department to raise an eyebrow yeah uh about
00:58the whole charone deal right okay and the contract was sitting on his desk

01:10in the in the feather of the cap of ward he did what are the two biggest money makers for

01:17athletic department football basketball did he not deliver two national championships
01:21championships now you can you can there's a lot of asterisks and stars around the football national
01:27championship i get that but how about this he hired dusty may right you get credit for that yes you
01:36absolutely get credit for that now you can go back in terms of football should there have been some
01:41more checks and balances in place for jim harbaugh yeah and probably own and appropriate relationships
01:46and all of that yes yeah people pointed out the hockey program on the text i mean like there's no
01:51way that that i'm sticking up for ward in totality i'm just saying when it comes to dusty may right
01:55hired the guy tried to extend actually did extend the guy after one season nobody's bringing that up
02:01indiana came calling stepped up and so we're not losing this guy yeah but you're not competing with
02:06the nba that's just what it came back to for me is like what am i supposed is ward supposed

02:29have for college athletics but one of them is unless you are an extremely well-established coach
02:37like a kirby smart or even a dabbo sweeney and dabbo has been preaching from the rooftops about all of
02:44the evils around college athletics especially football is we are losing all of our best coaches
02:51and all of our leaders some of them to retirement like Krzyzewski and Saban now okay those guys are old
02:58but they didn't want to deal with the new rules the new wave the new all the new things in
03:05college
03:06football but we're losing a lot of our best coaches and our leaders either to the pro leagues or to
03:12they're being forced into retirement because they just don't want to deal with college athletics right
03:17now tech says how much of an impact is the state of nil and college sports play into dusty's decision
03:22nolan and rochester like it's huge i mean he talked about it and we thought
03:27oh this this guy is all in like he is basketball 24 7 because he wins a national title and
03:36in the
03:36locker room he's talking about well i got to start on next year he wasn't even able to yeah he's
03:42already
03:43behind because the the the portal had already opened up he's recruiting guys in the portal while
03:48celebrating a national championship and i think he had talked about you know like family or maybe his
03:52wife wanted to celebrate and it's like well i don't really have the time to truly appreciate
03:57this or go out and spend free time there's no free time it's 12 months a year you're the coach
04:01and the
04:02gm right because it's roster retention that doesn't in the nba you got cooper flag and you know what he
04:06can't hit the portal after next season and so i in addition to it being a higher level of
04:13accomplishment if you win at the nba it's also just a better lifestyle to be an nba coach
04:17right and and i think you bring up a good point about being the the coach and the gm when
04:23you're
04:24the one along with some others on your coaching staff or in the program where hey you think you
04:31got a kid recruited and you've agreed on a contract but then somebody else offers him 150 grand more
04:37and then he comes to you and says well i'm gonna instead of 800 i'm gonna need a million yeah
04:42and now
04:42you've got to pick up the the phone and call donors you got to call companies you got to call
04:46all these
04:46like and it's a never-ending struggle to come up with enough money yeah to continue to play pay
04:53the players tech says as a spartan fan i'm glad to see may go but on the other hand i
04:58wanted to see
04:59the spartans kick his pompous ass i can understand that i'm a huge spartan fan and i actually am
05:05pretty disappointed that dusty left i wanted him and izzo to have a heated rivalry for the last few
05:09years of tom's career and dusty's a great coach so as a spartan fan i'm disappointed he bolted
05:16well i mean you could look at it as yeah he was he was maybe pushing coach izzo to do

05:23he's a little bit more uncomfortable with because if you hate dusty and you hate this but you but
05:29you also hate losing yeah exactly no sparty is happier with dusty than tom izzo signed jim on the

05:42see i don't think he thinks twice about it i think he is 100 focused on his team and yeah

06:19izzo didn't like the way he ran his program there's no doubt that is i was going i mean maybe

06:25have said i wanted to beat him i don't like him beating me and then leaving i wanted the last
