02:18shows that you do that before every show i'm mexican it just felt right yeah it just felt right i
02:23know
02:23that sounds really funny but i just feel like that's like our it's like a celebratory thing it's
02:29also like a warm-up thing i'm sure you've heard singers talk about like hot toddies and stuff like that

03:12are
03:12great pairings for me i'm also like a champagne girly every now and then i love a little a little
03:17bubbles um but tequila is just my yeah i'll have a beer every now and then a little chill on
03:26the side
03:27yeah but tequila okay yeah okay we're gonna kick it off with the game oh let's go i'm gonna ask
03:32you
03:33some of your firsts and your worsts are you ready yes okay what is the first thing you do every
03:40morning
03:41when you wake up first thing i do every morning when i wake up i don't know try to get
03:46it together
03:47girl yeah it depends on the season if i'm in like recovery season it's like meditation i make my
03:55morning coffee at home um if it's a busy season i'm probably panicking at the like multiple text
04:04messages that i've missed that have you know approvals that i need to get to and deadlines that
04:11need to be met that's the season i'm in right now it's funny it's like i want to be that
04:15girl that's not
04:15like i look at my phone but i'm like oh fuck i am that person that's like i look at
04:19my phone i check
04:20and i'm like i need to stop yeah and so i do i i catch myself i would say like
04:24i try to a balance
04:26is impossible to sustain all the time it's just you have to recalibrate okay good answer what's the
04:31worst habit you have you know what it used to be biting my nails these are my actual nails y
04:40'all oh
04:40wow i do not buy my nails no more i am so bad at that and that's why i just
04:45do gel because i'm like
04:46okay who is the first celebrity that actually left you starstruck oh shit oh damn you know what's so
04:56crazy okay obviously you've probably had the same thing where it's like this is what we do right so
05:00you're like play cool play cool and you'll meet some people and there's so much more like human and
05:04chill than you thought they would be so you're actually not as like whoo like oh my god you're
05:10actually like oh you're cool as fuck like we can have a conversation and i don't feel what i thought
05:14i was gonna feel in the best way not in a bad way but i would say when i did
05:19the oscars for the first
05:20time and i was doing the rehearsals on the stage i wasn't even starstruck by the person themselves but
05:25the photo cards that they have of them you know how they have pictures yeah yeah yeah girl denzel
05:30washington i was like i've seen him in so many movies like why is it that i'm freaking out right
05:35now like he's gonna be right there when i'm when i'm singing like huh that actually is such a good
05:40answer too because it's not like denzel washington's like finding places to get paparazzi like mega super
05:46famous people that are obviously like so worthy of like kiss the ground they walk on you know they're
05:51so incredible no that's a good answer he's a legend yeah um okay what's the worst rumor you've
05:57ever seen about yourself online look i know ai is a touchy conversation these days um but i've
06:05been seeing the craziest pictures of myself and they're fully like crazy no crazy has it ever been
06:13so bad i know what i'm gonna look like when i'm pregnant and she's giving cutesy like i'm i'm here
06:17for it dude that is that's getting scary it's scary what is the worst date you've ever been on
06:24um i remember still to this day it is i love food so like if you have me choose between
06:31you and food
06:31i'm gonna choose food because food's always been there for me you know um i remember it was so
06:39awkward and like me and this guy were like dating for some time too so it was like okay you're
06:43getting
06:43a little too comfortable and i don't like this um but it was something as simple as like the food
06:47came
06:47and i was like eating and i'm i do happy dances and like i don't chew with my mouth open
06:51but
06:51i take big bites you know i want to get a little bit of everything on the plate
06:56and this homeboy has the choice of words to say you know it's not going anywhere right
07:07like okay i would be so livid no i remember and i'm like you brought me to olive garden
07:14what did you think was going to happen okay so he brought unlimited unlimited breadsticks
07:20wait those breadsticks and the pasta they won't be there i know it's frozen technically but it's so
07:27good like it's the consistency it's just you know the fettuccine alfredo yeah wow the breadstick in it
07:35what was your reaction no i just remember i kept eating my food i was like you're just background noise
07:41right now like i'm now i'm gonna chew with my mouth open i hope you don't like me break up
07:45with
07:45me right now you're like i'm gonna finish this and then i'm gonna actually leave you but again i'm not
07:50leaving until i finish this meal yeah uh and it's unlimited soup and salad bitch so girl oh i would
07:56be
07:56livid okay what is your worst irrational fear worst irrational fear you know i had a feeling we'd get
08:07into like therapy talk eventually but like this is a little soon um i think just letting it's not
08:14really irrational i guess but just like letting the people i love down like yeah the people i love down
08:21is like letting them down is just it's a lot yeah yeah so let's get into therapy talk yes let's
08:27do it
08:28girl call her daddy is brought to you by depop i feel like we all have that one chair in
08:33our bedroom
08:33that becomes the i'll deal with it later pile well for me that pile has slowly taken over my entire
08:41chair and the whole floor and the whole room okay and there are pieces in there that i have been
08:47meaning
08:47to sell since my 2020 tie-dye sweats era yes i know let's not talk about you know also the
08:53barrel jeans
08:54phase guys remember that that trend was just simply not for me okay it came and went quickly thankfully um
09:01but that's where depop comes in because what feels wrong in your closet might be exactly what someone
09:05else has been searching for depop is a resale marketplace where you can buy sell and discover
09:12second-hand fashion that you'll actually be excited to wear and i know reselling can sound
09:17a little intimidating right but they make it so easy guys you literally just take a picture of your item
09:23and depop helps with the rest even suggesting a price to help it sell one of the best parts
09:29is the buyer pays for shipping and there are no seller fees so you keep more of your money amazing
09:37we love
09:38to hear it and you don't even need a printer you can choose a convenient drop off and call it
09:43a day
09:43whether you're cleaning out your closet looking for a friday night out outfit or just experimenting
09:48with your style depop has something for everyone and every style if your closet needs a reset start
09:54with depop download the depop app now and start listing today okay so take me back tell me about
10:01growing up in los angeles like what was your community like i mean um i'm a proud um
10:08inglewood native and i'm a proud chicana mexican-american i'm one of 19 grandchildren
10:15on my mom's side and one of 15 on my dad's there's grand babies or great grand babies now so
10:21i'm a tia i
10:22have nieces and nephews um and my baby sister just had a baby too so the family just keeps growing
10:27so i
10:28grew up around a lot of community it as my grandma would say like mi pueblito like my little village
10:34like
10:35this is this was everything for us growing up so i feel like i grew up feeling supported and feeling
10:42like i was never truly alone even though obviously you go through things in life that sometimes you
10:48do feel lonely in um i always had like my tribe you had all these people yeah yeah and i
10:53would say
10:53inglewood you know it's a predominantly brown and black community um i grew up watching the airplanes
10:59take off from lax and land into lax and i would always wonder where are those planes going and where
11:05are they coming from you know and now like it's so crazy to fast forward to where my life is
11:10now and
11:10i'm still here i'm still in la i'm a proud angeleno um but i'm on the planes now and i
11:16get to see my
11:17my grandparents houses depending on which side of the plane i'm sitting on because if you know lax and
11:23you're on a plane if you're on the right side you can see inglewood on the right side and if
11:27you're on
11:27the left side you can see hawthorne and that's kind of like the south bay like that's like where my
11:32my family is from it is so crazy that like no matter how successful you get and where your life
11:37takes
11:37you you still connect that younger version of yourself where like that little girl was like
11:42i want to be on one of those planes one day and like i want to see the world and
11:45now every time
11:46you're on a plane you're looking down being like oh my gosh i'm the girl on the plane now which
11:49is
11:49really sweet yeah um i do know that at nine years old you decided to start working to help support
11:57your family which is like that is really really young that's about like third grade did it feel like a
12:05choice at the time it did i think older me now looking back at it considering the circumstances
12:14there was definitely pressure external pressure um just from the the system i think around me
12:23to to step up in some kind of way but one thing i admire about little bex is that she
12:29was very much
12:30the driver of her life even if she wasn't she was convinced she was and i i think this is
12:37a theme
12:38with like i'm the oldest of four kids i have two younger brothers and a little sister and you just
12:43always gotta know like even if i don't know i gotta know i gotta figure it out you know so
12:49um i very much
12:50knew what i was getting myself into i very much wanted to pursue this considering that no one else in
12:57my family had ever worked in the entertainment industry it was kind of out of the blue that all
13:04of a sudden because i saw random shirley temple you know uh multi uh vhs videos growing up that i
13:13was like
13:13oh she did it i can do it too you know or dakota fanning and um and so i i
13:19yeah i just i just did it
13:21and i think what's interesting is like having this passion that you were like i want to do this like
13:26no
13:26one told me to do this like i really wanted to do this but then inevitably especially i think in
13:31the
13:31entertainment industry because you're around so many adults like you are forced to grow up quickly
13:36in a way that no one can really prepare you for and like in what ways i guess did being
13:44praised for
13:45being i'm assuming getting called mature like a lot of young girls badge of honor yes like how did getting
13:52called mature and strong reinforce those traits as like the eldest daughter to like step up and to
13:59take everything on yourself i think it does feel very rewarding when you're young you're like oh i'm
14:06doing something good i'm doing something right um me today is like there's no such thing as good or
14:12bad or right or wrong there just is and i think i very much was just trying to survive the
14:17circumstances
14:18that i was living and when we lost our home which was kind of like the catalyst as well as
14:23uh and i
14:24talk about this in my documentary actually but um the addiction kind of playing a huge part in in
14:31the four walls that i was growing up with with my dad being an addict um we had nothing we
14:36found
14:36ourselves living in my grandparents converted garage it's six of us and you know there was no insulation
14:43uh we we did have carpet it was just rolled out on the ground though it's concrete on the other
14:49side so it wasn't soft or plushy but it was carpet um and it was it wasn't tough though like
14:55you're a
14:56kid there's a bit of naiveness that i think was in my favor if that makes sense because i was
15:01like oh it's
15:01a big sleepover every single night like oh i'm sharing a bed with my baby sister like oh cuddles you
15:07know
15:07like it was never looked at as something that i was like ashamed of at least not yet because in
15:14that time you're so young you don't really know what's happening or you do you have an idea but you
15:20can't really do something about it you know so you're just you're just making with what you got
15:25and like when you talk about how you know addiction in those four walls like when you look
15:31back like how long do you feel like you were in survival mode of like there's nothing i can really
15:36do i just gotta i just gotta get up every day and go do my thing i mean the truth
15:42is is it's
15:42generational yeah it's generational and i i think when you and anybody i think who's probably tuning
15:51in knows if you you've grown up around addiction um it is there's something there it's it's not always
15:58just drugs it's not always just alcohol you know sometimes it's work um there's a an avoidance
16:04of type that fuels this this deeper wound and that is absolutely generational you know so this is
16:11before my parents this is before my my grandparents even um and i have a lot of empathy around that
16:18for
16:18sure but i i would say then the the moment i came out you know i had young high school
16:24sweetheart
16:25parents who who got married straight out and were like we want to have a family and by the time
16:30my mom
16:30was 23 she had all four kids and i think what's so interesting when something is generational it's
16:36like it inevitably is so hard to not have it just be this like normalized understood thing that it
16:46actually takes someone going against the grain and making things like a little uncomfortable or
16:51calling things out to actually have it not continue to be this transgenerational trauma
16:56but that takes such an effort to break and so when you are such a young child
17:03how are you going to do anything other than like fall in line and play your role and then eventually
17:08when you have some more autonomy then you'll be able to look back and be like huh what would i
17:13have
17:13changed about that dynamic but until you have that there's nothing you can really do and i think
17:19something that could be really relatable to the audience watching is like it makes me think back to
17:26that word mature as a young girl like you shouldn't have to be mature at such a young age so
17:32when you
17:32are given that validation that makes you feel like you're in the inner circle of adults it's
17:38intoxicating but what it really is when you get older you look back you're like that's really
17:41fucking dangerous to tell a young woman like you're so mature you're so strong it's like but should i have
17:46had to be that mature and strong like did you ever feel like why am i carrying a lot of
17:52this weight
17:53when did that click for you because i'm assuming it did it absolutely did it manifested physically
17:58before it did uh with like full conscious awareness so a lot of my symptoms were uh full-blown panic
18:06attacks multiple a day um chronic people pleasing i just the words no like the way my body would just
18:17like literally like contortion in a sense if i like really felt to know and i had to say it
18:21and then and
18:22most times i would fold and i'd be like okay well maybe not like because i'd see the reaction on
18:26the
18:26other side growing up in this industry longer than i've ever not been doing it it was like the perfect
18:32storm
18:33so it starts within the household right the four walls that i grew up in but then the conditioning
18:39that happens in the industry it's very rewarding when you start to gain success for being such a
18:46chronic people pleaser because you're like wow you love me you you choose me when i'm doing what you
18:54want me to do but what you're also though saying becky is like you grew up in a place where
19:00you were
19:01people pleasing how many times did i have to say yes right so no wasn't it wasn't really an option
19:06it didn't feel like it can you also talk about you mentioned earlier which i think so many people
19:11will relate to is also the added level of complexity of being the eldest daughter oh girl you want to
19:18get
19:19into uh birth order theories we can do that we can do all the attachment theories i i am definitely
19:27someone who i think in the beginning was like oh i'm just an empath like that just is you know
19:34like
19:34and and i am i am somebody who chooses to lead with um you know kindness and awareness around
19:42how someone is allowed to feel how they want to feel even if it doesn't align with where i'm at
19:47but that's like the progress part that i've gotten to if we rewind a few years ago
19:53yeah i was like oh i'm just i have to be a self-sacrificer i have to give up mine
20:00for the
20:00greater good i have to you know think logically and not about how i actually feel and i think a
20:09lot of
20:11firstborns feel that way but what's cool about learning about birth order theory because i'm the
20:15oldest of four and i will stand 10 toes down for my brothers and my sister i'm so thankful that
20:22they
20:22exist and they are my best friends um they didn't have it easy either you know so it's not that
20:30like
20:30firstborns have it the hardest but it's that we have a different version of our parents all of us do
20:38it's such a good point because i have friends who are the oldest child and that is so in line
20:45with what
20:46they've said and then also i think any of my friends who are the oldest and had some instability in
20:50their home a lot of times we talk about how a parentified child develops such a high eq
20:59because you're so hyper aware of every single person's emotions in your family and it almost
21:05forces you to be one step ahead of every situation so that you know like this is how i'll solve
21:10it
21:10this is how i'll handle it like this is going on with my parents like this is how i'm gonna
21:13save my
21:14siblings this is how i'm gonna save myself this is how i'm gonna fix the situation and you're
21:17constantly having to be ahead and thinking of everyone but yourself and it's hard to realize
21:24that everyone's emotions are not your responsibility yeah and i'm curious if you have any advice now as
21:30you've like clearly done a lot of work on yourself and lived a lot of life to anyone who is
21:35watching
21:35that has still that like weight or burden of being the oldest child and taking on so much responsibility
21:43yeah okay wait as you're saying this is literally making me think about there was a time
21:50where i oh my god this is gonna be really embarrassing to share i don't think i've ever
21:54shared this story but um i remember i was we were going through a lot as a family and i
22:01was like i was
22:02offered this opportunity to be a part of like this like disney holiday experience and i was gonna perform
22:08it was gonna be the coolest thing ever and i me and my family we're from cali like we loved
22:12going to
22:12disneyland growing up and my baby sister had never been a disney world before so i was like oh my
22:17god
22:18like you know things are not so good at home i'm gonna take my baby sister to disney world this
22:23is
22:23gonna be amazing um i'm gonna do some work but we're gonna have a good time
22:31i do drinks around the world and epcot and have one too many and i wake up in my hotel
22:41room
22:42and i'm like wait the sun hasn't even gone down yet like what happened like i was in full panic

22:55crying and i'm like i'm so sorry and my sister's like crying but she's like laughing she's like
23:02this is my baby sister guys and we're because we're going through so much at home i was like i
23:06wanted to like take her to have a break from everything that we've been going through and
23:10then here i am getting all topsy-turvy upside down yeah but it sounds like becky it's because you
23:16needed a break you need a complete breaking point and i'm over here crucifying myself right and i'm
23:23like i'm the worst sister on the planet like i can't believe i did this like i ruined the trip
23:27like i'm so sorry i'm like profusely apologizing to her i'm apologizing to my girls who were on the
23:33trip uh morgan who we were talking about earlier my stylist shout out to morgan um you know and
23:39so it was like a very small group of us and i i call them to the room and i
23:42like i'm like putting
23:44on this like you know confessional like apology of like why i did what i did and i'm explaining myself

24:18and oh yeah and i was just like
24:24and it i walked away from it being like wait and so it just led to an a much more
24:29open conversation
24:30around other young women my age who were like wait don't do this to yourself like by the way you
24:37know that's like a thing right people go drinking around epcot and it's like a challenge of like how
24:42far can you go and bitch you made it to frozen like you were like let it go let it
24:47go and we were like
24:48yes like let it go and you're in your head thinking you ruin everyone's time yeah and you're like oh
24:54my
24:54god i ruined this whole thing and it's like girl you why couldn't i just because of those pleasing
25:00tendencies where you're like yes it's you're so hardwired essentially yeah ready for the worst
25:07case scenario ready to make sure that everyone else is comfortable and everyone's like becky
25:12go back to bed you're like oh yeah that's that's just like a good example like you know some people

25:26my baby
25:26sister in the worst position as if she's not also like a whole like grown-ass young woman herself
