00:00Beginning tonight here, we will have some thunderstorms rumbling even during the overnight hours in some areas.
00:06You can see Chicago is one of the risk areas here tonight.
00:08And up into Green Bay, it's going to be chilly, but there may even be a thunderstorm potentially as far
00:14north as Green Bay among the showers of rain.
00:17But areas like Chicago and Detroit, we'll have to look out for these areas over the next couple of evenings
00:21with some thunderstorm potential.
00:23Down to the southwest, Des Moines, Iowa, scattered thunderstorms.
00:27As showers will be out there into areas around Fargo, Watertown, Sioux Falls, and Bismarck, a rain-snow mix.
00:33By the time the rain ends in Fargo, we should be dropping down near or below freezing.
00:37And also some ice possible up into Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
00:39Some sleet mixed with some showers of rain.
00:42So a really sharp contrast of temperatures between the very warm weather in the Ohio Valley and a cold wind
00:48blowing across the upper Midwest here in the northern plains on Tuesday.
00:52So at this time of the year, at the end of March, it doesn't take much to get severe weather
00:55popping.
00:56And we do expect to see some severe weather over the next couple of days.
00:59So in the short term, tonight, we have potential for some gusty thunderstorms and hail in areas around northeast Iowa,
01:06southern parts of Wisconsin, potentially as far north as Green Bay.
01:10The farther south you are, the more likely it will be.
01:12So Madison and Milwaukee, more likely than areas around La Crosse to Green Bay.
01:18But you're not out of the woods there to the north.
01:20And then Chicago, still at risk for severe thunderstorms and also southwest parts of Michigan.
01:24Let's take a look ahead to tomorrow, though.
01:26So, again, we've got the overnight risk as we see this kind of begin to emerge tonight.
01:31There's those thunderstorm clusters into areas like northern Illinois, moving into parts of Michigan.
01:36And during the day tomorrow, pressing pause in the evening.
01:39This is Tuesday at 8 Eastern, 7 Central, southern Michigan, northern Indiana, and the Chicago Metro.
01:45Some risk for severe storms there.
01:47In fact, we're going with a moderate risk.
01:50That's two out of four on AccuWeather's four-tiered severe threat index.
01:53And look at the repetitive nature to the rain there.
01:55We could begin to see some localized street flooding and flash flooding perhaps as well.
02:00Then into the day on Wednesday.
02:02This is a messy forecast here.
02:04Look at this.
02:04We've got snow in Valentine, Nebraska, and into areas near Rapid City and the Black Hills.
02:09Widespread areas of rain.
02:10And then on the southern side of this, we're going to have some thunderstorms.
02:13And Adam's going to talk about the Wednesday severe weather risk area on the south side of that thunderstorm zone.
02:20That will include more of the south-central U.S. than the north-central on Wednesday.
02:23So, again, a really dynamic day here.
02:25Sloppy weather.
02:26We've got cooler air building in.
02:27We've got rain and thunderstorms to the south.
02:29Showers lingering in Des Moines to Chicago.
02:32And, again, just day by day, we have many concerns out there.
02:35So, the transition to that colder day on Wednesday, Tuesday's the day with the severe risk that we're most concerned
02:41about.
02:41We're going to go with a two out of four, a moderate risk, two out of four on AccuWeather's four
02:45-tiered severe threat index.
02:46Chicago, Fort Wayne, Detroit, Cleveland, all in that corridor.
02:50Toledo's in there, too, on Tuesday and Tuesday night.
02:53And, again, that's what we're most concerned about to the north.
02:56But then Wednesday, we get more concerned farther south.
