00:00So, it's going to be interesting out here, and I think eventually the conversation is going to kind of turn
00:05to the draft.
00:07And I think, talking with folks last night, I don't think people have any idea what's actually going to happen
00:15in this draft.
00:16I think for all the Jeremiah Love speculation, and I know, like, Commanders fans are worked up that maybe Love
00:22won't be there at 7.
00:24And if he's not, you get another damn good player.
00:26I'm also not so sure he won't be there at 7.
00:28And I'm not entirely convinced they'll take him at 7.
00:31Like, it seems wildly wide open, especially depending on what happens with the pass rushers.
00:37And I don't think any of the decisions made in free agency or anything impact what they're going to do
00:43at 7.
00:43And I also think Sonny Stiles is a real option, which makes kind of the Bobby Wagner free agency interesting.
00:52I think, you know, you add Chennault, they like McGee.
00:58Do you think Wagner's time for Washington is done?
01:02Because Dan Quinn says, I would never shut the door on him.
01:05I don't know.
01:07See, this is another thing where you got a guy who understands and knows this system now.
01:13Well, don't know this system, but if they give it to him, he'll know it within two, three weeks.
01:20And you may need to see some other people do some things.
01:23Bobby will learn whatever he needs to learn in no time.
01:26Totally.
01:26So, is this a deal like, look, Bobby, we want you, but we understand you're a veteran guy.
01:31You don't have to be here at camp all this time.
01:33You know, show up in June for us, July.
01:38You know what I mean?
01:39I wonder if he even wants to be.
01:42I would guess he would sign a contract and be wherever that is tomorrow, right?
01:46But I also don't know that he would mind not going to camp and OTAs and everything, right?
01:53Like, I just, Dan Quinn's talking about, he did an interview with Kevin Clark from ESPN,
02:01and he talked about how he wants some players to kind of take off, to be ascending players.
02:08And he talked specifically about Johnny Newton.
02:11He said, you know, Johnny's first year, he dealt with all these injuries.
02:14Now he's in a different situation.
02:16And I think it's going to be, I think the front will be so much different that I think they
02:24want to have so much more variety
02:26that maybe Newton is put into better roles where he could be a pass rusher.
02:30Because I think, Quinn's not going to say this, but.
02:52Was there anybody that we needed to double on our team, that the other team had to double?
02:57I think if you get him one-on-one with guys, his quickness can help him out.
03:02If he's not one-on-one with people, and people can, like, chip him a little bit as they get
03:07up to somebody else,
03:08he has problems.
03:10So, when I look at guys, and I'm not comparing him at all, like Aaron Donald,
03:15smaller guys that are quicker up in the middle, if you happen to get him getting pressure up the middle,
03:21he may not be a run stopper, but he can be a run effector.
03:25And if you got other guys that can help you out with that, and the linebacker's filling those gaps,
03:29things can work out.
03:30So, I just think that the fact that they still have him around,
03:35there's something that they see in him that they think they can utilize.
03:39For sure.
03:40I mean, when you draft a dude, you know, number two in the second round,
03:45I think he was, what, the second pick in the second round?
03:47Like, that's obviously a guy that they value.
03:51And then, the first year was pretty much shot by the injuries.
03:54That's just the reality.
03:55He broke the foot in college, then gets to camp, has another broken foot.
03:59On the other side.
04:00Right, which is probably a result of...
04:02And for a big man, that ain't easy.
04:04No, dude.
04:05Dude, if I told you about my heel problems, I've been dealing with a hurt heel, Brian.
04:09Planters.
04:10So, planters, I thought, was the front, like the top of your foot by your toes.
04:14No, planters fasciitis is more that ligament that goes from the arch to that heel.
04:21And it normally hurts more in your heel.
04:25Yeah, but I think I bruised it somehow, because it feels better now.
04:31The other part of this...
04:32You run too damn hard.
04:33Get on your toes, man.
04:34Be a little lighter.
04:35I am kind of a heel guy.
04:37I think the other part of this is I think Washington's going to lean much more so on McGee.
04:45And DQ, Quinn is really good at talking without saying much.
04:50It's like a big skill of his.
04:53Talking loud, ain't saying nothing.
04:54That's an old song.
04:56That's a smart way for NFL coaches to handle things, honestly.
05:01But, you know, in various interviews that Quinn's done out here, he's talked at length about McGee.
05:07And then, if they are going to these kind of more nebulous fronts, and I think you'd see...
05:15Because you still have Frankie, obviously, right?
05:18So, if you have Frankie, McGee, and now Chennault...
05:23Who's calling it?
05:24Who's setting it up?
05:25You need somebody who's very understanding and sure to be setting all that stuff up if you're going to do
05:30multiple fronts.
05:32Yeah.
05:32I mean, if I had to guess...
05:34Will Chennault be that guy?
05:35If I had to guess, like, the green dot, like, who's actually getting the play call sent in, I would
05:40guess it's McGee or Chennault.
05:41Because it feels to me, and I think DQ has been diplomatic about making sure, like he said repeatedly, like,
05:50we won't close the door on Bobby Wagner.
05:52But the way he keeps talking about McGee's growth and having him play next to Chennault and, like, how excited
06:01they are for that level of athleticism.
06:02I just think it seems like that's the direction they're going.
06:08And Jones plays more varied fronts, right?
06:13Like, the Durante-Jones system, I think you will see some five-man stuff.
06:16I think you'll see some three-man stuff.
06:18And I just think, like, if they try to play more of a 3-4 and you've got Settle and
06:25then Payne and Kinlaw and Luvu standing up on one side and Chennault is, like, this super multi-use kind
06:31of tool on the other side, it just starts to look a lot more interesting.
06:36And then maybe Newton is a 3-4 at the end a little bit more, you know?
06:40And does that allow him to use his quickness?
06:43Because I think they recognize how bad the defense was, frankly, and how much of a dramatic overhaul is required.
06:53And that, above all else, I just, I think the good news for fans there is they recognize this isn't
07:00good enough and we've got to change it up.
07:02I'm happy about that.
07:05A lot of us noticed that.
07:07Yeah.
07:07It wasn't hard.
07:08What is Deion saying?
07:09I ain't hard to find.
07:10I ain't hard to find.
07:11It wasn't hard to notice.
07:12That wasn't hard to see.
07:13No.
07:14A lot of folks concerned about the center situation, letting Biotis go.
07:20DQ, not.
07:22He talked about Allegretti.
07:23He said, Nick wins.
07:25We won a lot of games with Nick.
07:26So have other teams.
07:27We're up for the competition and he is too.
07:30But he's a guy we trust.
07:32A lot of people are worried about, I mean, about what's called Biotis being let go.
07:37But same people are complaining about him too, many games last year.
07:43So my thing is, the coaches and those people can't be concerned about all these people that every time you
07:51make a move, they're pissed off.
07:53Like you see stuff that you feel needs to be better or more consistent and you got to make a
07:59move.
07:59And yes, sometimes you let players that go to other teams and they play well on the other team.
08:04They probably wouldn't have played well for what you want them to do.
08:07That's all.
08:08And that's the mindset you got to have.
08:11Big news on the show.
08:12We got a new official sponsor.
08:14Rude is now the official show sponsor of B.
08:16Mitch and Finley.
08:17Don't melt this summer.
08:18Upgrade to high-efficiency HVAC and get 60 months, same as cash, on qualified equipment until the end of April.
08:26Keep your cool and your cash.
08:27Find a Rude Pro partner at Rude.com.
08:30And B, what do they say if it ain't rude?
08:32It ain't right.
08:33But Dan Quinn also specifically addressed kind of the green dot, who's going to get the plays called into their
08:39helmet.
08:40He didn't rule out that being a safety.
08:43Because the problem with the green dot is it's hard to move that around.
08:47So if you have a guy that is only going to play 65% of the snaps because you want
08:54to be so variant, like that guy can't be it.
08:59But if you look at last year, the guys that played the most snaps, it was probably Wagner and not
09:05by a close margin.
09:09Do you think that could be – what safety do you think at this point is going to play the
09:15most snaps?
09:15Is it Nick Cross?
09:16Is it Kwon?
09:17Is it Revo?
09:19Is it Will Harris?
09:21I think – I look at a Cross and a Harris are the guys that they probably would do that
09:26with.
09:27Well, and does that change if you draft Caleb Downs?
09:33Hey.
09:34Because I think it does.
09:35I mean, once you draft him, you'll see because – I don't know if it does.
09:39Because just because a guy was great in college or you think he's great, don't mean he can get into
09:44the pros and know everything and still make calls.
09:47So you have to see if he can handle that.
09:49Right.
09:51From the – the people I've talked to about Downs is like that might be his superpower is the ability
09:59to process everything, see everything, call everything.
10:03But with a rookie making that transition, until you see it, you don't know.
10:07There you go.
10:08Last year – I mean, these numbers are crazy.
10:11Bobby Wagner was on the field for 99.39% of snaps.
10:17Dude, and he played 20% of special teams.
10:20Hey.
10:22I mean, that's just insane.
10:23You need people like that on your team.
10:26So it's kind of hard for me to be pissed off at a guy like that.
10:30Lou Vu played the second most snaps defensively at 97.
10:33Then it was Mikey at just below 90.
10:36So, I mean, those numbers are going to look a lot different.
