00:08You know Rudolph who guided and pulled Santa's sleigh and who saved Christmas by lighting the way.
00:16But there's more to tell. Rudolph saved the new year as well.
00:26And it all began on that very same foggy night. Santa received a strange message.
00:33What's this? Why, it's from Father Time. My old friend. Dear Santa, I am in terrible trouble. You must help
00:46me.
00:47The old year ends in a week, but this time there may not be another year to follow.
00:55Happy, the baby new year is... is missing.
01:00Oh, that's terrible. If the baby new year isn't found, the old year will just keep going on and on.
01:09And it'll be December 31st forever. I'll send out a search party at once.
01:15Yes. But wait. Nobody could find their way anywhere in all this dark fog and snow.
01:22Hmm. Nobody, that is, except...
01:27Rudolph. Once more, the happiness of all the world's children depends on you.
01:33You must find the baby new year. And you've less than a week in which to do it.
01:39You mean...
01:40Rudolph, with your nose so bright, you've six days left to set things right.
01:51I'll do my best, Santa.
01:53I'll do it again.
01:56I'll do it again.
05:01Come on, General Ticker.
05:02You can make it.
05:04Father Time's castle can't be too far ahead.
05:07You're bold, sir.
05:09I'm cold, sir.
05:10This dash is snow.
05:13I'm pretty cold, too.
05:15Don't weaken.
05:17Your beacon must cast its glow.
05:20Don't worry.
05:21I won't weaken.
05:33And finally, with great effort, they reach the edge of the great desert, the sands of time.
05:41A desert?
05:43What do we do now?
05:45We cross, sir.
05:47The bar, sir, is still quite far.
05:50Father Time's castle is on the other side of the desert?
05:53Oh, quite, sir.
05:56Tis right, sir.
05:57Beneath that star.
06:01Wow.
06:03That's still a long way to go.
06:06Perhaps I might be of some assistance.
06:11Who are you?
06:12A friend?
06:15How do you do?
06:17I am the great quarter past five.
06:20Father Time sent me to help you in your journey.
06:25The great quarter past five?
06:27May I call you quart for short?
06:30Oh, I'd rather you didn't.
06:33If it's all the same to you, hop on, please.
06:42They were halfway across the sands of time, when suddenly...
06:53What is it?
06:55I'm seeing the old Ian.
06:57We've got to flee.
07:00Run, run, run.
07:02Run, run.
07:05All fair Ian the terrible.
07:11It was the horrible monster bird who had terrorized the sands of time for countless ages.
07:17He harmed the terrible.
07:26There's better, Peggy.
07:34It's not us he's looking for.
07:37Who does he want?
07:39I do fear the new year.
07:42Do you agree?
07:44I certainly do.
07:46He's out looking for happy, too.
07:49You see, Eon can only live until he is one Eon old.
07:56Then he will turn into ice and snow.
08:01How long is an Eon?
08:04Why, measurably long.
08:06But his Eon is finally up this December 31st.
08:12He has only six days left.
08:17That's why he wants to capture the baby New Year.
08:20To stop time.
08:23If December 31st goes on forever, so will he.
08:28He'll never change to snow.
08:31So he'll never stop scaring people.
08:34Not if we find happy first.
08:37Come on, great quarter past five.
08:39Get us to Father Time's castle.
08:41Quick.
08:43Well, since we're being quick about things, you may call me Quart.
08:49Ha!
08:50Let's go, Quart!
08:56In no time they all arrived at my castle, the palace of Happy New Year.
09:03Have a happy.
09:05Have a happy.
09:07Have a happy.
09:08Have a hap, hap, happy New Year.
09:10As the bells ring out, everyone will shout Happy New Year.
09:16Have a happy.
09:17Have a happy.
09:18May each day be filled with good cheer.
09:21And with nothing less than much happiness all through the year.
09:28Why, it's true.
09:30That nose of yours is as red as my hair used to be.
09:33They used to call me the old redhead.
09:37It's a pleasure to serve you, sir.
09:39Rudolph, do you know what really happens every New Year's Eve?
09:44Do you know how we make the change from one year to the next?
09:47No, sir.
09:48All I know is that everybody says Happy New Year.
09:53It is a happy occasion.
09:55And a solemn one, too.
09:57For the passing of time is awe-inspiring.
10:01It's the one certain thing in all the universe.
10:05In a way, it's like an old king stepping down and a new one taking its place.
10:12A baby New Year starts out every January the 1st.
10:16Innocent and young is springtime.
10:20The moving finger writes
10:24And having writ moves on
10:29You can't hold back the clock
10:33It just ticks on and on
10:38The moving finger writes
10:41The moving finger writes
10:42The moving finger writes
10:42And having writ moves on
10:45So treasure memories
10:48For what is gone is gone
10:52And oh, you may sweat and cry
10:58Don't you know it's great
11:02Just to be alive
11:06I will try
11:08I will try
11:08So treasure memories
11:12To be alive
11:14Then you can't hold back the clock
11:17And you can't hold back the clock
11:19And you can't hold back the clock
11:20A baby New Year
11:21The moving finger writes
11:22The moving finger writes
11:24And having writ moves on
11:44And as midnight nears, the old year waits.
11:48And all the clocks count down his last moments.
11:54Midnight!
11:57And the magic diamond is lured to signify the end and the beginning.
12:07Happy New Year!
12:13This year, the diamond may not come down.
12:17But what happened to the baby New Year?
12:20He ran away.
12:21You see, little Happy was anything but Happy here.
12:26And I didn't know a thing about it.
12:29Happy was different from all the other little New Year's.
12:32You see, he had a rather unusual big ears.
12:41Oh, blimey, I can't help it.
12:44Those blooming ears.
12:46A zippie-pick!
12:47Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
12:57ha.
12:57Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha,
13:02ha, ha.
13:04No one meant to be cruel.
13:06But that night, poor little Happy ran away.
13:10And we haven't seen hide or hair of him since.
13:15Gee, I wish he would have come to me.
13:19I know just how he felt.
13:22I bet they called him names
13:24and wouldn't let him join in any New Year games.
13:29Do you have any idea where he went?
13:33His nurse, Nanny Nine O'clock, said that he always wanted to see
13:36the archipelago of last year's.
13:40Archipelago?
13:40What does that word mean, sir?
13:44It's a group of islands.
13:46The archipelago of last year's is the most fantastic archipelago of all.
13:51Far north, in the most northern of all the northern seas.
13:56Hidden from the rest of the world by an everlasting icy fog,
14:01each island is an old year.
14:04I don't understand, sir.
14:06You see, when the old year's time is done,
14:09he retires to the archipelago and selects an island.
14:13And the island becomes his alone.
14:16Time stands still and remains just the same as it was during the year he reigned.
14:23The archipelago of last year's.
14:27Happy may be hiding on one of those islands, on one of those long ago years.
14:32I'll search every island if I have to.
14:35Where do I find them?
14:37Go to where the sands of time meets the sea of Eau Lang Syne.
14:42There you will find a giant sundial.
14:44A sundial? In all this fog?
14:48The arm points through the icy fog to the archipelago of last year's.
14:54Point your gleaming nose in that direction.
14:57Rudolphen, do not veer from your course.
15:00And you'll find yourself going back.
15:03Back into time.
15:14Turn back the years.
15:17Live the simple life once again.
15:19Live the days of remember when.
15:22Turn back the years.
15:27Turn back the years.
15:30Walk along any sunny lane.
15:32Walking's better than anything.
15:35Turn back the years.
15:40Just remember the good times that you knew.
15:46Don't remember the bad times you've been through.
15:54Life disappears sooner than you would think it would.
16:00Fool yourself, everybody should.
16:02Turn back the years.
16:07Turn back the years.
16:20Hooray!
16:22Oh no! It's Eon!
16:33Eon the Terrible!
16:34He was determined that Rudolph would not find Happy.
16:39And he intended to do everything in his power to stop the little red-nosed reindeer.
16:51Oh, it looked pretty bad for Rudolph.
16:54He was on his way through the icy fog to the archipelago of last year's,
16:58searching for Happy the Baby New Year.
17:01And Eon the Terrible swooped down out of the sky.
17:11Got to go faster!
17:15Eon was just about to swoop down when...
17:25Oh, my gosh!
17:27Oh, now, Rudy, don't you fret any about that overgrown chick.
17:32Who are you?
17:34Well, folks call me Big Ben.
17:37Yeah, yeah.
17:38Look what I can do.
17:40Climb inside.
17:42It's safe in there.
17:47Eon?
17:49What did you say?
17:55I asked if you were comfortable.
17:57Kind of hard to talk with your mouth full.
18:00Oh, sure, Big Ben.
18:02But maybe I'd better ride on top.
18:05Okay, suit yourself.
18:12I won't let you find Happy before I do.
18:25You're a bad birdie, Eon.
18:29Huh?
18:30Eon?
18:32Eon?
18:32Eon?
18:33Eon?
18:33Eon?
18:33Eon?
18:34Eon?
18:35Eon?
18:35Eon?
18:36Eon?
18:36Yes, even Eon the Terrible was no match for Big Ben.
18:44Eon?
18:46By the next morning, Big Ben had taken Rudolph to just about the oldest island in the whole
18:52archipelago of last year's.
18:54It was the island where old one million B.C. had gone to retire.
18:59While Big Ben was waiting for him in the harbor, the little reindeer went ashore to find old
19:05one million himself.
19:07Anybody home?
19:11But certainly there's always anybody.
19:14No?
19:14Yes?
19:15Hi!
19:16You must be...
19:18Who?
19:19Me?
19:19O.M.
19:21O.M.?
19:22Short for one million.
19:24Too much work all the time saying one million.
19:26Yes?
19:26No?
19:27Yes?
19:29I...
19:29I...
19:30I...
19:31I suppose so.
19:32Hey!
19:33Why far the edges on your mouth go down, not up?
19:36I...
19:37I'm looking for Happy, the baby New Year.
19:40What if I don't find him in time?
19:43Don't?
19:44Stop with the don't thoughts.
19:46Start with the do thoughts.
19:48When things go wrong and dark clouds fill your sky.
19:54Let the dark clouds burst.
19:57Laugh and you'll find if you cry.
20:01It's raining sunshine, it's raining sunshine, and it's music to the ears.
20:14It's raining sunshine, it's raining sunshine, when you smile away your tears.
20:26It's raining sunshine, it's raining sunshine, when you smile away your tears.
20:51It's raining sunshine, it's raining sunshine, it's raining sunshine.
21:07Sounds wonderful, O.M.
21:09I'll take your advice.
21:10And I know I'll find Happy.
21:13Hey!
21:13Who's Happy?
21:15Everybody's Happy!
21:20O.M.
21:21Please!
21:22Happy is the new baby New Year.
21:25He's missing.
21:27I thought he might have come here.
21:29The little baby?
21:30Oh, yeah.
21:32Yeah!
21:33Yeah!
21:33Yeah!
21:34He's here?
21:35No.
21:36But he was.
21:39O.M. told Rudolph that little Happy did visit the island.
21:43He made a lot of friends, too.
21:45Why once, he saved a baby pterodactyl's life.
21:49O.M.
21:54O.M.
21:54O.M.
21:58O.M.
21:59O.M.

23:02days until december the 31st time's running short yeah maybe that island up there will know something
23:10certainly looks impressive it was the island belonging to old 10-2-3 just about the most
23:17fantastic island in the whole archipelago full of tassels and princesses and knights and shining
23:24armor and as soon as they landed they met the proprietor of the island old sir 10-3 himself
23:32thou looks for the wee babe happy is he here sir 10-3 aye where i've not the slightest notion

26:21spied three bowls of porridge the first was a little too hot the second too cold the third was just

26:40is too soft the third was just right
26:47oh he broke it whoever owns this house is not gonna like that
26:54but happy was too tired to care about anything so he went upstairs where he was sure there were some
27:01beds
27:03but meanwhile the owners of the cottage were coming home
27:17yes a little happy the new year had gone to sleep in the cottage of a family of bears

31:00Oh, no. Come on. We can't let them out of our sight.
31:06I hope Big Ben can swim fast.
31:09Good old Big Ben. He could swim almost as fast as Eon could fly. Almost.
31:14They're getting away from us. Ben, do something.
31:20You bet your boots I will. Watch out now. Watch your heads.
31:34Oh, he fell off.
31:40Yay!
31:43But suddenly a vagrant wind blew him out of sight.
31:46Oh, he's lost again. And we only have two days left.
31:52Oh, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho,
31:57ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho, ho.
31:59That old wind held a baby New Year aloft for more than a day.
32:02But then, just as suddenly as it blew up, it blew away again.
32:18And Happy came down on still another island, the one belonging to...
32:24Well, hello there, little fellow.
32:26I'm 1776, but my friends call me Sev.
32:31Would you be my friend?
32:35Don't know who you are or where you come from,
32:39but you're welcome to join our big 4th of July celebration.
32:43Oh, I know you think it's December 30th, but not on this island.
32:49No siree!
32:51On this island, every day is the 4th of July.
33:02Come on!
33:04You're just in time for the big parade.
33:12There's a happy celebration in each town across the nation
33:16At the 4th of July parade
33:19All the grown-ups and the kiddies
33:22In the towns and in the cities
33:23Love the 4th of July parade
33:27With the drums, the revs, the tapping, and the fire
33:30Cracking, snapping, fracking, flags are all displayed
33:35Oh, it's planned just to be inside a land that is free
33:38And see the poids of July parade
33:43Join the crowds on Independence Day
33:46The birthday of the U.S.A.
33:48And take a peek, peek on your way
33:50Soon you'll hear the band's last day
33:53Begin to play to one and all
33:55A very happy holiday to say
34:14With the drums, the revs, the tapping, and the firecrackers, snapping, fracking, flags are all displayed
34:22Oh, it's planned just to be inside a land that is free
34:26And see the 4th of July parade
34:36Hey, little fella, your hat
34:38Got to show respect for the flag
34:42The parade's over on that next block
34:46Kajooks, I'm certain t'was happy we saw
34:50Hey, those ears
34:55Oh, no
34:57We're too late
34:59It happened again
35:02Oh, I feel terrible
35:04We didn't mean to be cruel
35:07Those ears, those ears
35:10Oh, but you can count on me to help you look for him
35:19Odd spotkins, methinks that sounds like
35:21Methinks too, sounds like, looks like, smells like, it is
35:27Oh, oh, oh, oh, there, there, there
35:35Oh, I'll take you home with me
35:37Ah, with me
35:40Eons tricked him again
35:42Poor little happy thinks Eon is the only friend he has in the world
35:47We must pursue them
35:49Yes, we must after them
35:51To the ends of the earth
35:52Till victory is ours
35:55For each dawn we die
35:57We must after them
36:00But how?
36:02It's night
36:02We can't see a thing
36:04That's where I come in
36:07Come on, men
36:08We've got one day till New Year's
36:11This is our last chance
36:21And so Eon the Terrible flew off with Happy the baby New Year
36:25Taking him back to his dismal home on the island of no name
36:29It was a terrible place
36:31More like a haunted iceberg than an island
36:34Far from the archipelago of last years
36:37Due north of the North Pole
36:39Where the sun never shines
36:44You'll never be found here
36:46And I will live forever
36:49Hooray!
36:51Ah!
36:52Ah!
36:54Ah!
36:58But Rudolph and his friends hadn't given up the search
37:01No siree
37:02Not by a long shot
37:04Big Ben knew the way to the island of no name
37:07And Rudolph's red nose lit up that fog and rainy night
37:10Like a magic beacon
37:12In an ocean of gloom and despair
37:16We will rescue him in time
37:18Yes?
37:19No?
37:20No
37:21It looks bad for Happy
37:24I...
37:25I...
37:26I...
37:27Tish...
37:29Tish...
37:30Helpless!
37:33Oh, come on
37:35Nothing is ever hopeless
37:37We'll find Happy
37:39But how can you be so sure?
37:42Heck, I got you this far, didn't I?
37:44Have a little faith in me
37:48And day by day
37:50I'll make your dreams all come true
37:56Have a little faith in me
37:59And as they say
38:01Faith can move mountains for you
38:08I'll land a helping hand
38:11I'll land a helping hand
38:11When things go wrong
38:13And by your side I'll stand
38:17As I help along
38:21Have a little faith in me
38:25That's all I ask
38:28I'll keep the faith faithfully
38:36I'll keep the faith faithfully
38:37Look, look, it really is raining sunshine
38:46Well, by George
38:49Look up yonder
38:50Look what Rudolph's nose lift away to
38:53Yeah, the island of No-Name
38:58Wahoo!
38:59Now, Rudy, so's old Ian don't see us coming
39:02You better douse your nose
39:04but keep that hope burning bright inside.
39:07Okay, Big Ben.
39:17Hey, what's that for?
39:19Look at my clock.
39:2211.30, New Year's Eve.
39:26Zongs, gadzooks, and odd bodkins.
39:29We have but one half hour.
39:31We've got to be quick, then.
39:32Come on, men. Let's get happy.
39:37Inch by inch,
39:38they made their way up the tower of ice and snow
39:41toward Eon's nest,
39:43but suddenly...
39:49Shhh...
39:49Huh?
39:55Huh?
39:57You!
39:58Ah!
40:06And the awful sound he made
40:08caused an avalanche,
40:10which tumbled down under Rudolph and the others,
40:12turning them into helpless snowballs.
40:17They're all buried alive!
40:20Your last hope is gone,
40:22and you'll live here with me as my sleigh.
40:27And all time will stop,
40:30and I will never turn it to ice and snow.
40:34Safe, safe, safe at last!
40:41Eon was so comforted by his success
40:44that he snuggled down into his nest
40:46and drifted off into a contented sleep,
40:49certain that happy was his forever.
40:53And indeed, it did look as if everything was over
40:56for Rudolph and his friends.
40:57But no.
40:59Wait a moment.
41:00It's Rudolph.
41:02He's trying to melt the snow with his nose.
41:05Come on, Rudolph.
41:06You can do it.
41:07Make that nose really glow.
41:09Make it really shine.
41:24Phew!
41:27Now to find happy.
41:42Hi.
41:43My name is Rudolph.
41:46Wait a minute.
41:47Don't be afraid.
41:48I want to be your friend.
41:52You think you can't have any friends?
41:55Why not?
41:58Oh, come on.
42:00You can tell me.
42:03Is it because of your ears?
42:07Heck, they couldn't be that bad.
42:12You want to see something?
42:14Look.
42:18Go ahead.
42:19Laugh right out.
42:21Doesn't bother me anymore.
42:23But when I was little,
42:25it sure gave me one heck of a time.
42:29You mean you never heard about me?
42:32Well, Rudolph was too modest to tell his own story.
42:36And so all the trees on the old mountain and the snowflakes,
42:40why, they just helped him out.
42:42Do you know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen?
42:46Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen?
42:51But do you recall
43:02Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer had a very shiny nose.
43:08And if you ever saw it, you would even say it glowed.
43:13All of the other reindeer used to laugh and call him names.
43:20They never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer game.
43:25Then one foggy Christmas Eve
43:29Santa came to say
43:33Rudolph with your nose so bright
43:36Won't you guide my sleigh tonight?
43:39Then how the reindeer loved him
43:42As they shouted out with me
43:44Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer
43:47You know down in his story
44:00You see, I stuck it out.
44:03And when I grew older,
44:05I found that this nose was the most wonderful thing in the whole world
44:09because it was a different nose from everybody else's.
44:13And it was all mine.
44:16It was really me.
44:17And heck, you know, with those ears
44:21Why, you're going to be the happiest new year ever.
44:27Come on, Happy.
44:28Let's see those old ears of yours.
44:31Come on.
44:33We're friends, aren't we?
44:42Anna, don't get upset because I laughed.
44:46I couldn't help myself.
44:47Those ears made me feel so wonderful
44:50That all the happiness inside me
44:52Just, just had to pop out.
44:56Same way with everybody else.
44:58Those ears of yours
45:00Why, they, they make folks happy.
45:09Happy!
45:11Happy!
45:25I have an idea, Happy.
45:28Take off your hat.
45:29Quick, take it off for good.
45:32Huh? Huh? Those ears.
45:36Those ears. Those ears.
45:41Those ears! Those ears!
45:46Well, it's the first time that monstrosity ever laughed in his life.
45:51He laughed so hard that he laughed himself right out of his nets.
45:55He laughed right down the side of that mountain.
45:58And then he laughed OM, 10-3, and Seb, free from their snowballs.
46:04To put it bluntly, he laughed himself silly.
46:09Old Eon won't give us any trouble now. He's cured for good.
46:14Heck, nobody can turn to snow and ice when he's all warmed up inside with laughing.
46:22That's true.
46:25That's true.
46:42Midnight.
46:43Even though we found Happy, we're too late.
46:47Don't give up, Hope.
46:48There must be some way to get back to Father Time's castle before the 12th bong.
46:57There sure is, Rudolph.
47:00It's Santa Claus.
47:04If I can travel all over the world in one night, I ought to be able to get you to
47:10Father Time in a few bongs.
47:13He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he.
47:28They travel faster than joy itself over the sands of time, right up to the gate of my castle.
47:35And we lost no time getting happy inside.
47:38Whew, we just made it without a bong to spare.
47:47And outside, the new year.
47:5119 wonderful and a ride.
48:02Have a happy, have a happy, have a happy, have a happy, have a happy, happy new year.
48:07As the bells ring out, everyone would shout, Happy New Year.
48:13Have a happy, have a happy, may his day be filled with good cheer.
48:18And with nothing less than much happiness all through the year.
48:25Should all acquaintance be forgotten in the days of all my time,
48:31Then take a cup of kindness and you will always feel just fine.
48:38Have a happy, have a happy, never have a worry or fear.
48:44Here's my wish for you, hope my wish comes true.
48:47Happy New Year, have a happy, happy new year.
48:55Happy New Year!
48:59And may it be shiny, too!
49:03Happy New Year!
49:27Happy New Year!
49:28Happy New Year!
49:29Happy New Year!
49:30Happy New Year!
49:32Happy New Year!
49:33Happy New Year!
49:34Happy New Year!
49:35Happy New Year!
49:35Happy New Year!
49:36Happy New Year!
49:36Happy New Year!
