00:00The brazen killing of businessman Danny Guerra outside his DG Homes office on March 13th, and then the killing of
00:07his former employee, Quarry Supervisor Rodel Adolphus, on Monday night at Trinny Lime River Resort, have left Sanguigandi residents in
00:14panic and fear.
00:16ASP Owe Russell, reading from a release sent by Senior Superintendent of the Division, Christopher Pampanet, told the media that
00:23the police were aware of these latest murders of Guerra and his worker, and are working feverishly to not only
00:29catch the killers and stop the bloodletting, but also to allay the fears of Sanguigandi residents in the heart of
00:35this violent backlash.
00:36Our current assessment acknowledges that such acts of violence may, in certain circumstances, give rise to further tensions or retaliatory
00:48behavior.
00:50It is precisely this risk which has informed our operational posture.
00:56In direct response, the Senior Superintendent of the Eastern Division has adopted a heightened intelligence-led policing strategy under the
01:07framework of operational steady guard.
01:10Russell said the Senior Superintendent of the Eastern Division was also doing similar exercises across the entire division, apart from
01:17Sanguigandi, and expected this quote-unquote deliberate and forward-looking strategy to yield results.
01:24Its primary objectives are two, one, prevent any escalation of violence, identify and apprehend persons of interest connected to these
01:35and other serious offenses, and maintain stability, public safety, and territorial control across all communities within the division.
01:47Touching on the December 31st, 2024 murder of attorney Randall Hector shot outside the Seventh-day Adventist Church on Stanmore
01:54Avenue, Port of Spain, ASP Russell said a suspect had been held one month after the killing, but was later
02:00released as police continued to search for further evidential clues.
02:04The investigation remains active and is being diligently pursued. At this time, investigators are focused on advancing key technical evidence,
02:16which is by nature, requires careful processing to ensure the appropriate evidential threshold.
02:24Russell, in an unrelated matter, said the police were also investigating false TTPS social media posts, which he said never
02:32emanated from the TTPS.
02:33He said this was a serious matter and was being looked into.
