00:00A lot of people are interested in the fact that the 2028 Super Bowl, so two Super Bowls from now,
00:04the one that's going to be in Atlanta, Georgia, does not have a date associated with it yet,
00:09which is very uncommon when we're two years out from it. As a matter of fact,
00:14it's the first time that's ever happened where we've gotten this close to the game without
00:17there being a date so that hotels can plan and chambers of commerce, etc. can plan and traffic
00:23and all that stuff. And the thought process around that is because they think by then
00:29we will have an 18-game schedule. But the thing I saw floated yesterday, which I think is crazy talk,
00:35is that they're going to approve an 18-game schedule, not for this season, but the next season.
00:41But players are only going to be allowed to play in 17 of the 18 games. And they're doing that
00:50so
00:50they don't have to pay the players anymore. So we're not asking you to play 18 games.
00:54Matter of fact, we're mandating you can't play all 18 games. The interesting part of that then becomes,
01:01assuming you're not injured and you're healthy throughout the entire season,
01:06what's the best week for your quarterback not to play?
01:10Because now you have a mandatory backup start.
01:12Right. For, I don't know, your kicker not to play, for your left tackle, and on and on and on.
01:17Yeah. Because if you wait to the very last week, you're kind of playing with fire there. Because
01:22what if you need the last game to get in? That and because they're not expanding the rosters under
01:27this model, you don't have enough players. Like, if your offensive line plays the whole time,
01:31they don't have five backups on the roster. Which I'm sure they'll address that. It's a very good point.
01:35Another few backups. They're going to have to add more, make more players active.
01:39Well, this is what they've been trying to fight against, though. The owners have been fighting
01:42against that. The players have been talking about, if you want to go to 18,
01:44than just go to 58 or 60 players. Right. No. More players, the minimum's a million bucks. It's
01:50more, obviously, on your bottom line. The owner's initial response wasn't,
01:54let's talk about it. Yeah. No. Right. So, like, to me, look, we want more football. Who doesn't,
01:59right? We all love football. And I think 18, it's going to happen one way or the other. So,
02:04to me, look, the salary cap keeps going up anyway. Because the money, yeah. And just to give you an
02:08example. TV deal keeps going up. Like, Jackson Smith and the Jigma, who just got 41 plus a year. Just
02:13to give you
02:14an example. When I moved to Philadelphia in 1993, I started covering the Eagles in 1995.
02:20All right. In 1995, the entire payroll, the entire payroll for an NFL team was about $45 million.
02:28That's when the Jigma's getting himself this upcoming year. Yeah. And well-deserved,
02:33obviously. Yeah. Because they're all making so much more money. But in any event, they're going to go to
02:3718 games. So, just raise the salary cap. Let guys make more money. I know it's absurd how much
02:44a lot of guys make now anyway. And then everybody's happy. There's no issues. Like,
02:48if you're making more money, because the TV packages are not worth more,
02:52you have to give the players half anyway.
