Rumors are starting to swirl about Love joining Washington in the NFL Draft. Is it a perfect fit?
Transcript
00:00Alright, something struck me yesterday that I think is certainly worth paying attention to.
00:06Adam Schefter, if you're listening to us, you know who Adam Schefter is.
00:10I'm not going to explain who Adam Schefter is.
00:12Adam Schefter was on McAfee talking about NFL draft.
00:15We're getting to the nuts and bolts of draft season.
00:18We're inside of a month of draft day.
00:21I'm trying to book a hotel in Pittsburgh.
00:23I imagine yours is booked for you.
00:27It's draft season, right?
00:30So, Schefter on McAfee talking about Jeremiah Love.
00:34I think this is interesting.
00:36Today, as we sit here today, my guess would be I don't see him going to Tennessee.
00:41I don't see him going to the Giants at number five, although that would be an interesting spot.
00:47And I think he'd have a lot of support there.
00:50To me, a place that makes sense today, a month out, would be the Washington Commanders.
00:58They've added to their running back room.
01:01I could see Washington being interested in a player like Jeremiah Love.
01:07Seven would be the spot.
01:08If we go back to other years and other great running backs,
01:12B. John Robinson went number eight to Atlanta.
01:15Christian McCaffrey went number eight to Carolina.
01:19New Orleans just spent on Travis H. Aaron Jr.
01:25And Kansas City just spent on Kenneth Walker.
01:28So, to me, Washington, I know they went out and they added Rashad White.
01:33And they added some depth at the running back position.
01:36But I still think that if you could pair Jeremiah Love and Gene Daniels, that would be dynamic.
01:44And they've been in need at that spot.
01:47So, to me, that's a spot that I'm watching.
01:49I just think seven is interesting to watch.
01:56So, the connections in a lot of draft conversation have been with the Titans and with the Giants for Jeremiah
02:06Love.
02:06Like, we've heard that in lots of places.
02:08The Titans draft at four.
02:10The Giants draft at five.
02:13Schefter has now repeatedly said that's not going to happen.
02:17Tennessee and New York aren't taking love.
02:20Now, he's saying Washington would make a lot of sense.
02:23I think there's obviously some real parallels with B. John going eight.
02:27McCaffrey going eight.
02:29For Love to go seven.
02:32I wonder two things.
02:34How real is all this?
02:36Right?
02:36I don't think Schefter's also not reporting anything there.
02:41And I think it's important to delineate that.
02:43Like, he's not saying definitively, sources tell me Washington wants love at seven.
02:49But he's also not suggesting that it's possible without some clue that it is.
02:55Possibly.
02:56Does that make you?
02:57What's your reaction to him?
02:59I, I, I, listen, man.
03:01I don't care if it's Schefter, Kuyfer, or his name, Mel Kuyper.
03:08I don't care if it's either one of them.
03:10What I know at this time of the year, it's a lot of, a lot of BS that goes on.
03:14Sure.
03:14Just like he's not suggesting that he's not reporting, he can also be taking the pressure off of one of
03:20them teams that said that they, that all the reports have been going towards.
03:24You get what I'm saying?
03:25So, I don't, I don't know which way to lean.
03:29I will still, before him saying that and after, I'm going to say this.
03:34They're in a position to take any position they want when they get to seven.
03:39I don't know if it's going to be offensive player, defensive player, receiver, love, whatever.
03:46But when you don't report it and you put it out there, you still change people's mindsets.
03:51You influence people.
03:52You get people thinking about something else.
03:54Especially when he says it.
03:57So, I don't know if he's trying to get people on to Washington looking at something or deflecting it, getting
04:04them from thinking about somebody else dealing with it.
04:06You get what I'm saying?
04:06Yeah.
04:07So, I don't know which way it's going.
04:10But it could be going either way.
04:12Right.
04:12I wonder a lot of different things.
04:14Because to me, it's like, the way he has gone repeatedly hard that the Giants aren't interested in love.
04:24Like, is that for, is that for the Giants are saying, we're not taking that dude.
04:33I don't know where this is coming from.
04:35But do they just want to get everybody off the scent so you repeatedly tell Schefter we're out on that?
04:40And they do want love.
04:42Could be.
04:43Or, same with Tennessee.
04:45Like, do they want to tell everybody they're not in on him so they can get him?
04:49I think Tennessee would be the first actual viable option.
04:54Like, the Jets aren't taking him.
04:56You know what I mean?
04:56Vegas is taking Mendoza.
04:58Yeah.
04:58I can't imagine the Cardinals are taking him.
05:03Is Washington trying to drum up trade interest?
05:06We know Washington could use some more picks.
05:10They go into this draft.
05:11Who picks six?
05:13Cleveland.
05:15Could somebody else be trying to drum up some trade issues?
05:18Just to drive the seat.
05:19Because that sixth spot, he never mentioned Cleveland one time.
05:22Did you forget about them?
05:24In this situation, everybody's talking about Washington, the Giants, and Tennessee.
05:30And Cleveland's sitting there.
05:32And then somebody comes, moves right up to Cleveland and says, I'll give you this to move up.
05:36See what I'm saying?
05:37So, I don't know where that play is going.
05:41I don't know either.
05:44Part of me wonders.
05:45So, Cleveland.
05:48And now we're getting, like, serious conspiracy thing.
05:51This is like the It's Always Sunny meme.
05:54Who's the dude in the It's Always Sunny meme with, like, the markers and the lines going everywhere?
05:58Charlie.
05:58Charlie, yeah.
06:01There has been talk about the Browns.
06:05What do the Browns do?
06:07They draft quarterbacks.
06:08They draft quarterbacks.
06:09There has been a lot of talk about the Browns liking Ty Simpson.
06:13Okay.
06:14The Bama quarterback.
06:15Dan Orlovsky is now saying Simpson is the number one quarterback prospect in this draft.
06:21Whether that's real or rage bait, I don't know.
06:24But, just hear me out on this.
06:30There's no way the Browns want to take Simpson at six.
06:34Right?
06:35Mm-hmm.
06:36Say they want to take Simpson.
06:40And they know the only player that may generate a real trade-up offer is love.
06:47Mm-hmm.
06:50And if they want to generate a lot of interest in the sixth spot to trade back, maybe, they
06:59say, yo, Washington wants him.
07:01Yeah, if you're trying to get love, you might want to come up here and get him for us.
07:10Get moved to six.
07:11Washington wants him.
07:12And then we're going to move back.
07:14Now, the problem with that theory is the Browns also hold the 24th overall pick.
07:21So, they have a late first-rounder where, presumably, you could get Ty Simpson.
07:26Unless you think.
07:27What if they can get somebody to move up to six and then they have another spot?
07:3224 and 19.
07:32And then they got another pick or something.
07:34Hey, man.
07:35They need it.
07:37Because they don't seem to know what to do with the stuff they normally do.
07:40Yeah, I mean, the questions to me are.
07:45A lot of it circles back to, is Jeremiah Love the right pick for this team?
07:51And all the other stuff is smoke, mirrors, conjecture.
07:57But you got to just ask, and I recorded a podcast with Mitch yesterday, and I don't know how to
08:05look at this.
08:06Have you looked at the game logs from Notre Dame last year?
08:10Because I brought the one most astounding numbers I've seen up from college football last year.
08:17November 22nd, 2025, Notre Dame played Syracuse.
08:20And Jeremiah Love had eight carries for 170 yards and three touchdowns.
08:24Like, how good is your good?
08:27Pretty damn good.
08:28I'd say he's very good, or I'd say Syracuse sucks.
08:31When you dig into the numbers a little bit more on a couple of teams that made the college football
08:36playoff,
08:38I'm not saying it gives you pause, but it ain't eight for 171 and three touchdowns.
08:43Yeah.
08:44Like, eight for 171 sometimes isn't all about you.
08:47It's about what you're playing against, too.
08:48Now, against USC, who's a good team, 24 for 228 and a touchdown.
08:53That's a lot.
08:54Another five catches for 37 yards.
08:55I like that.
08:57Does that mean he carried it in bulk, and he still averaged about, what, almost eight, nine to carry?
