00:00There was a period of time, the morning they, so they signed,
00:04forgive me if I don't have the exact dates because all the days blend together, right?
00:07I want to say it was a Wednesday night and they signed Diggs.
00:11Wednesday afternoon.
00:12That's the high point of training camp, right?
00:14The Thursday was an off day and then Friday, I believe, was Military Appreciation Day.
00:20And it was packed and Steph Diggs ran on the field and the fans went ballistic.
00:24That was the absolute high point.
00:26People were so excited at that moment.
00:28And he looked good in practices, and so there was that.
00:32About 36 hours later, Laramie Tunsell tears his tricep.
00:34And it was like this rocket up and down.
00:38That was a gut punch right there.
00:39I think I said this to Bea.
00:42I'm curious if you agree.
00:44Scotty Scheffler this weekend wins a tour championship, right?
00:46And he was a boa constrictor.
00:48He just slowly squeezed the life out of everyone.
00:52And for a dude like Scheffler, when you're the best,
00:55he probably wants golf tournaments to be six rounds, seven rounds,
00:58because over time, his greatness will just beat down the people that are hot or whatever.
01:03I fear this Laramie Tunsell thing over time is going to have more of an impact
01:09because now you've already got Coleman moving over to tackle.
01:12So what happens if there's an injury?
01:13Oh, you're going to have a lot of shuffling pieces by the end of this year, I'm afraid.
01:19And then Allegretti missing a month is just a massive one.
01:23By far the biggest surprise is the undrafted Utah guard, Tojii, making the roster.
01:30Now, where that will go, I'm not sure.
01:33Three corners on the roster is pretty crazy.
01:37Trey Amos, we haven't even discussed what the hell is going on there.
01:41That's another good question.
01:42He's now going to miss at least four.
01:43Four, that's very bad to start out with.
01:47But if the team can just get out of the gates with a win or two,
01:52because they got such a terrible draw with their opponents.
01:55This is the toughest opening four holes of a season I've seen in a long time.
02:02They got to get a win or two.
02:03If they can do that, get some stabilization, figure a thing out or two,
02:08that's going to let them go have a season.
02:10But I would say comfort yourself in that none of this August stuff is real.
02:17It's all Fugazi, it's Funhaus Mirrors, and it means nothing.
02:22And wrap yourself in that, hey, whether or not Peters and Quinn are the guys
02:30to really get them back to where they were two years ago, put that aside.
02:34They are football professionals.
02:35They're not blithering idiots.
02:37They have big walls with names of players, and they're figuring out, okay,
02:43looks bad right now with our corners, but we've got this guy and this guy
02:46in our sights, and we've got to back up to both those guys
02:49if those plans don't work out.
02:51Agreed.
02:52I want to let some of these callers weigh in.
02:54Let's go with Aaron is in Suitland.
02:56Aaron, how are you feeling?
02:57Roster cuts are in.
02:58They've got boat race in the preseason finale.
03:00What do you think?
03:02Man, I think we're in a world of trouble.
03:04I think we're in a world of trouble.
03:06Last week you guys said something about how important it's preseason.
03:10Once again, Dan Quinn's team started slow, right?
03:13I mean, even though it was our C team and their C team, there was just no
03:17comprehension on what they were trying to achieve or accomplish.
03:22We were down in the game.
03:23We kept running the ball.
03:24And then when Dan Quinn tried the 62-yard field goal, right, I'm like,
03:30what is this guy thinking about?
03:32You know, I mean, it made no sense to me at all.
03:34I didn't mind that.
03:35The kids got the leg for it.
03:37I think they wanted to give him a shot in a very, like,
03:40low-leverage position to see what he could do.
03:43Hey, shooting 60 is going to be a big part of the offense this year.
03:46The kick was awful, though.
03:47I mean, it was short and right.
03:50Look, let me just tell you guys this.
03:52At 7-0-1, I text on my thread, you know, I've seen enough.
03:56Dan Quinn got to go.
03:57So, he won't make five years here.
04:00On 7-1 on July 1st?
04:03No, no.
04:04At 7-0-1.
04:05Oh, 7-0-1.
04:06Oh, 7-0-1.
04:08Yeah.
04:10At 7-0-1.
04:11I mean, this is just an indicative of Dan Quinn type team.
04:15You know, I think that he's a good, you know, maybe defensive coordinator,
04:19but a head coach, he's not.
04:22Now, there's a history that Dan Quinn has with us, right, the last three years,
04:27including this year, the third year.
04:28We always start slow.
04:30And another question or concern that I have is Jaden Daniels hadn't played much
04:35at all, right, and I understand why.
04:37I understand why, but it's still a concern in terms of us being prepared.
04:41Peterson has brought in a lot of people.
04:43We got a lot of people on paper, but can they play together?
04:46What type of defensive coordinator do we have?
04:48What type of offensive coordinator do we have?
04:50You know, we already know what Quinn is about.
04:52What, he was our fourth or fifth coach, I mean, or choice as head coach, you know.
04:57So, I don't know.
04:58I think we're in a world of trouble.
04:59I think we're going to lose 10 games, at least 10 games.
05:02Hey, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa.
05:03Aaron, I appreciate the call, man.
05:05Thank you for listening.
05:0610 games.
05:07Fire Quinn.
05:09Like, people, there's time to fire the coach in January.
05:13It's August 31st.
05:13Let's put that away for the moment, okay?
05:15I, it's, um, you've got to try to balance the last, I don't know, nine days for this
05:23organization has looked terrible.
05:25Yeah.
05:25But it's also the last week of August.
05:27They don't play until September 13th.
05:29What, what we haven't seen that presumably we see early and often on September 13th in
05:37Philadelphia is Jaden Daniels throwing to Terry McLaurin is Jaden Daniels throwing a Steph
05:43Diggs, Jaden Daniels throwing a Chigakonkwo.
05:46Yeah.
05:46Jaden Daniels handing it off to Bill.
05:48Like, it's been so long since we've seen what it's supposed to look like.
05:54That said, I give Dan Quinn credit.
05:57He said he was going to run a much tougher camp and by and large, he did.
06:00And then I don't know if it's there.
06:02Did you guys who cover the team track that in terms of quantity and total of practice and
06:06length and all that stuff?
06:07The length of the practices was significantly lower.
06:09Okay, good.
06:09I think there were more days in pads.
06:11I think there was more physicality.
06:12Good.
06:13But then as they started getting beat up, they backed off a lot of that.
06:17And I don't know if that was because of the injuries piling up or if that was because
06:23that, I mean, they've got to their credit or detriment, however you want to look at it,
06:28everything is planned.
06:29Nothing's on accident.
06:30They're an intentional bunch and they are intentional with the ramp up periods, the ramp down
06:36periods, making sure, thinking they've got everybody, you know, ready for the season.
06:41Yep.
06:41And as they started to ramp things down, like much was made after the, after the way they
06:47played in Detroit, Dan Quinn said it was disarray, right?
06:50So he converted that Monday walkthrough that the media wasn't there to a practice with the
06:55media there.
06:55Much was made about that, but they were in shells and it was like maybe a 90 minute practice.
07:00So it wasn't like this.
07:02I remember asking one of the players about it after.
07:04I was like, Oh, what'd you think about them making this practice?
07:06He's like, dude, it was already on our schedule.
07:08Right.
07:08It was just that you guys are here.
07:09So like, I don't, I don't know if they got back to taking it easy a little bit or if
07:18that
07:19was the plan all along.
07:20And by the time they got to Baltimore with all of let's, let's hope it's bumps and bruises,
07:26right?
07:27Cause you got a lot of guys that weren't practicing, but they claim everybody's going to be good
07:31for week one.
07:33The joint practice of Baltimore was set up for them to get their asking because they really
07:37they didn't have their guys.
07:40Okay.
07:40And particularly on the offensive line, you know, when they got to 11s without Cosme out
07:46there makes the hole at center that much worse.
07:48I, that's part of the, my surprise that Toji, I made the roster, but I don't think they
07:53love their interior depth clearly after having to move Coleman outside, perhaps my biggest
08:01problem with August with training camp preseason was that performance Friday night in Baltimore.
08:08I don't.
08:09So you do have a problem with Baltimore, that game, you have a problem with them looking
08:13one players weren't part of it.
08:15That's that's, that's your two deep plus.
08:17So should they have played some of the frontline guys for a series, but how did the dudes know?
08:24Okay.
08:25But how can you be that flat?
08:27Is that on the players?
08:29Is that on the coaches?
08:30The players are just bad for the players and the coach.
08:34Quinn said it.
08:35I know we didn't have juice.
08:37Is that not on you coach?
08:39I think, look, I don't, I don't know the answer, but damn, that was ugly.
08:44Remember when, you know, you were in college and your fridge didn't have any good food in
08:49it and you would open the fridge door and you'd look in and then you close it and then
08:54you'd go sit on the couch, have a beer.
08:57You'd come back.
08:57Cause that's all you had was beer.
08:58And you'd go look in the fridge again.
08:59You're like, oh, that's right.
09:01There's nothing in here.
09:02And you have to close the door again.
09:04I kind of think that dynamic is happening with what the previous front office left.
09:10I'm done with that, dude.
09:12This is year three of Quinn and Peters.
09:13This is their operation.
09:15Okay.
09:15You got three years of drafting, three years of free agents.
09:18But the bad drafts echo through the future.
09:21So does trading away.
09:23I mean, if you just, the tonsil trade, you do 10 times out of 10.
09:27I understand.
09:28But if you think about all the capital that went out the door to acquire Lattimore, Deboe,
09:31the tonsil, that's probably eight picks of some with real value.
09:36I think there was a pair of seconds, a pair of thirds.
09:38Sure.
09:38Sure.
