05:20we mentioned it before the break where do you think their one through nine their everyday lineup
05:24ranks in major league baseball right now uh i think probably middle of the pack maybe slightly better
05:34than that i mean this is a playoff team for each of the last two years i know that i'm
05:40a lot of that's
05:41a pitching staff but you know the hitters have done uh they did a great job in the first half
05:45of last
05:45season they did not show up in the second half of the season as much not nearly as much um
05:51so i
05:52probably middle of the pack because they do lack some of that consistency but i mean you can't ignore
05:57that there have been some good power numbers with riley green and spencer torkelson and
06:01carrie carpenter the the perhaps resurgence of of hobby bias he's had a really good spring
06:08that bodes well for them a healthy glaber torres is a good glaber torres that's what we saw in the
06:13first half he wasn't healthy in the second half played through it um i think it's kind of an
06:18average lineup so slightly better he says middle of the pack slightly better out of the 30 teams in
06:24major league baseball according to the athletic they're one through nine ranks 14th middle of the
06:29pack slightly better here we go well done birthday boy well done thank you a couple things that they
06:35write about the uh the tigers is you know they highlight riley green and spencer torkelson and
06:40carrie carpenter but this is from the athletic kevin mcgonigal preseason pick for rookie of the
06:46year in my opinion he has the best hit tool of any prospect in baseball and solid defensively and on
06:50the base pass labor torres creates traffic the top of the lineup then this colt keith and dylan
06:56dingler have come close to haven't come close to reaching their potential offensively this offense has a
07:02lot of upside well that's true i mean colt keith and you watch him step into the batter's box he
07:08is
07:08he's not built like a baseball player he's i'm not gonna say he's built like a football player i think
07:13it gets overdone but he's he's a bulky guy who has a big frame it looks like he can hit
07:19for some
07:19serious power and and should project to be a guy who's going to hit north of 20 home runs every
07:25year
07:25but he's got to get there um i think he's getting more confident each year but i'd like to see
07:32a big
07:32uptick from him and he's capable of doing it um but if he gets off to a slow start then
07:39i could see
07:40a lot of shuffling going around the lineup a lot of you know and also what happens with mcgonigal i
07:44expect him to make the team but if mcgonigal is hitting well and bias is hitting well and you know
07:49they want to give a look to parker meadows or somebody else on the outfield then they could
07:53shift mcgonigal over to third because he's played third base you know and then you put javier short and
07:58you've got meadows in center field or whatever you're going to do speaking of mcgonigal uh mcgonigal
08:03cooled off a little bit at the plate uh towards start but four for his last 27 four for his
08:12last 27 now
08:14does that mean he's not going to make the team or shouldn't make the team not necessarily uh it
08:19because that's baseball to a certain degree and it's not in the four of the last 27 the one thing
08:27the stats don't show is is he squaring the baseball up still he's only struck out five times in the
08:32month of march so it's not like you know somebody's found a weakness and it's turned out to be fatal
08:38but you know it's just important to point out the one thing that was a bigger question was
08:42defensively and he had another highlight play late last week at third base yeah it was uh it was good
08:49to see and um he has more walks than strikeouts that's huge his on base percentage is 423 during
08:57this uh this stretch and you know they don't include the stats that he had in the exhibition
09:02games that he would have taken place uh you know against the they're all exhibition well right but
09:07the exhibition exhibition or games the world baseball classic exhibition games that he participated in
09:12the one where he hit the the the home run to start the game where he launched at 459 feet
09:18and everybody's like well look at that against a major league pitcher so um there's a lot there i
09:24think he's done more than enough to to show everybody that he belongs on this roster from opening day
09:29well if he if he doesn't it might not be solely contract and and service time manipulation it might
09:36be a little bit of product of of this recent stretch i feel like today's the day we're constant twitter
09:43refreshing to find out when they announce where he's going to end up max clark assigned to toledo
09:49yeah which is encouraging to see him go to toledo um that tells me this is what gets interesting
09:56if max clark is going toledo that tells me that parker meadows is staying with the big club
10:02um because i think they want max clark to get as many reps as possible and he's a center fielder
10:06by trade it put him in left field and he struggled in left field made a couple miss miss plays

10:11there uh so does that mean that parker meadows is making the big club and if he is i hope
10:19it has
10:19no impact on mcgonigal i would hope that the impact is really on jami jones or wenzel paris
10:24i will say this mcgonigal coming north with the team would be an awesome extra shot of excitement
10:33for this team for this season i hope that he's authentically earned it in spite of the recent
10:40lack of base hits which doesn't tell all the story and yeah it'll be just more excitement
