00:00Hi, little ones. Welcome to Fabulous Fables, where little stories have big lessons.
00:06Today, we're going to share a classic story that teaches us the importance of honesty and responsibility.
00:14This fable is called The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Let's dive right in.
00:19Once upon a time, on a sprawling hillside, a shepherd boy was looking after his village's sheep.
00:25The scenery was beautiful and peaceful, but the boy often felt bored and lonely.
00:32These sheep, they're so boring. All they do is munch, munch, munch. No fun at all.
00:39He muttered to himself. Then, out of nowhere, a mischievous idea popped into his head.
00:46What if I yelled, Wolf, just to see everyone come running? Ha ha, this is going to be great.
00:52He chuckled, with his hands cupped around his mouth. The boy yelled with all his might,
00:59Wolf, wolf, help! A big, scary wolf is here.
01:03Upon hearing the cry, the villagers immediately ran up the hill, armed with pitchforks, sticks, and brooms.
01:11Thud, thud, thud. Panting and out of breath, the villagers asked the shepherd boy,
01:18Where's the wolf? The boy burst into laughter when he saw their worried faces.
01:23Ha ha, there's no wolf. You all got fooled. I was just playing a prank on you, he said gleefully.
01:32Unamused, the villagers scolded him. Don't cry, Wolf, when there's no wolf.
01:37Then, they trudged back down the hill, grumbling all the way.
01:41The next day, the shepherd boy once again led the sheep to the lush green pastures on the hillside.
01:48Before long, he started feeling bored again.
01:52Ha, wonder if they will fall for the same trick twice.
01:55He thought to himself. Then, a mischievous grin appeared on his face.
02:00Well, there's only one way to find out. Let's do it again.
02:05Wolf, wolf, a huge and scary wolf.
02:08Please help. The boy shouted as loud as he could.
02:13Villagers came running up the hill, even faster this time.
02:17When they arrived at the pasture, they found the sheep grazing peacefully.
02:21Not a wolf in sight.
02:23Confused and frustrated, the villagers approached the boy and asked him,
02:28Where's the wolf now?
02:30Oh, you should have seen your faces. Priceless fooled you again.
02:35Ha ha, he snickered.
02:37The villagers were furious at the repeated false alarms.
02:40They reprimanded the boy and warned him against crying wolf again.
02:45Afraid that he would be punished, he promised,
02:48All right, I won't do it again.
02:50A few days later, as he was rounding up his flock,
02:54the shepherd boy noticed one sheep was missing.
02:57Looking around the pasture, he saw a large, ferocious wolf attacking the lost sheep.
03:03He quickly turned around and ran frantically toward the village.
03:07He screamed at the top of his lungs,
03:10Wolf, wolf, help, help.
03:13This time it's real.
03:14But this time, nobody believed him.
03:17Probably another joke.
03:19Not falling for it again, said a villager.
03:22I'm serious.
03:24Please believe me.
03:25The wolf just killed a sheep.
03:27The boy continued shouting.
03:29Getting no response, he headed back to the pasture to check on his sheep.
03:34Apparently, the wolf had gobbled a few sheep and gone away.
03:38Upon seeing the dead sheep, the boy burst into tears.
03:42What have I done?
03:44This is all my fault.
03:45When they realized what happened, the villagers scolded and criticized the boy.
03:51Pretty much everybody refused to speak to him, and even his own family was ashamed of him.
03:57The boy lost his job as a shepherd because he failed to protect the sheep entrusted to him.
04:03Trust is hard to earn, but easy to lose.
04:06The moral of the boy who cried wolf is,
04:09honesty is always the best policy.
04:12Be honest, kiddos.
