00:00Hello, kids! Welcome to Fabulous Fables, where small stories have big lessons.
00:05Today, we bring you the famous Aesop's Fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper.
00:11This story shows how a carefree grasshopper and a hard-working ant make decisions that affect their lives in the
00:18future.
00:18Let's begin.
00:20Once upon a sunny summer day, a grasshopper was singing cheerfully in a lush green meadow.
00:26La, la, la, what a perfect day to sing and play, he crooned.
00:30Nearby, an ant was working hard, carrying a big and heavy seed to his nest.
00:36Phew! Must get ready for winter. Lots of work to do, he said to himself.
00:42Upon seeing the ant, the grasshopper stopped singing.
00:45Hey, Mr. Ant, he said. Why don't you take a break and sing with me?
00:50Let's have some fun.
00:51Shaking his head, the ant replied,
00:54I can't. I have to gather and store up food for winter.
00:58The grasshopper laughed.
01:00Ha ha! Why bother about winter? Winter is still far away.
01:05It's warm and sunny today. Let's enjoy ourselves.
01:09Undeterred, the ant continued working, gathering more food for the cold months ahead.
01:14As the days passed, the leaves began to change colour and fall, signalling the arrival of autumn.
01:21The grasshopper continued to sing, dance and play, hopping among the fallen leaves without a care in the world.
01:28Once again, he crossed paths with the ant, who was struggling to push a piece of nut to his nest.
01:34What a silly ant, the grasshopper chuckled.
01:37It's too early to worry about winter.
01:40He needs to relax and live a little.
01:42The ant paused briefly and said,
01:45The weather is turning chilly.
01:47Winter will be here before you know it.
01:49Stop wasting your time and start collecting food.
01:52The grasshopper shrugged off the warning and played a carefree tune while the ant kept working.
01:57Not many days after, winter came, bringing freezing temperatures and cold winds.
02:03The entire meadow was covered in a blanket of snow.
02:07All the creatures of the meadow retreated to their warm nests, except the grasshopper.
02:12He didn't have a place to stay, so he continued to live outside.
02:16He was shivering so badly that he couldn't play music anymore.
02:20Soon, he began feeling hungry and went searching for food.
02:23He walked around for hours, but he couldn't find any food or shelter.
02:29Sad and desperate, the grasshopper remembered the hard-working ant.
02:34He has saved plenty of food.
02:36Surely, he'll offer me something to eat and a roof over my head.
02:40With hope, he quickly dragged his cold and tired feet to the ant's house.
02:45Meanwhile, the ant was relaxing in his warm and cozy home,
02:49which was filled with piles of seeds, nuts, and crumbs.
02:53Suddenly, he heard a knock on the door.
02:56When he opened the door, he saw the grasshopper standing outside, looking cold and hungry.
03:02Oh, you look miserable.
03:05What happened to you?
03:06He asked.
03:07Bursting into tears, the pitiful grasshopper begged in a weak voice.
03:12Please, kind ant.
03:14Please help me.
03:15I'm freezing and I have nothing to eat.
03:18Could you please let me in?
03:19I'll sing to you for free.
03:21Remember when you called me silly?
03:23The ant asked.
03:25I was busy gathering food and preparing for winter while you were playing music and having fun.
03:30Now I have enough food for myself.
03:33I'm sorry, but I don't have any extra to share.
03:36With that, he closed the door on the grasshopper.
03:40Disheartened, the grasshopper slowly walked away from the ant's nest, hanging his head in shame.
03:46He regretted not heeding the ant's advice.
03:49Oh no.
03:50What should I do now?
03:52If I had prepared in advance, I won't be in this dire situation.
03:57He thought sadly.
03:59The moral of the ant and the grasshopper is,
04:01if you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
04:05Be prepared, kiddos.
