In a tragic incident in Hubballi, a 15-year-old boy, identified as Nameesh Sangalad, lost his life while filming a social media reel involving a high-speed stunt with two vehicles.

Nameesh, son of BJP leader Veerabhadrappa Sangalad, was riding a 2022-model electric two-wheeler when the accident occurred on Thursday evening between 4:30 pm and 4:45 pm in the Shejawadkar Layout area near Unkal. The stunt reportedly involved an Audi Q7 and the electric bike approaching each other at high speed and swerving at the last moment.

According to police, the Audi Q7—originally registered in Noida in 2013—was allegedly being driven by a minor in a negligent, zig-zag manner as part of the reel shoot. During the attempt, the driver lost control and crashed into the electric bike coming from the opposite direction.

Nameesh, a Class 9 student studying in Mysuru, had come to Hubballi to celebrate Ugadi with his family. He had gone out with friends when the group decided to film the stunt video on the outskirts of the city.

The teenager sustained severe head and leg injuries and died on the spot, as per the FIR.

Based on a complaint filed by his father, police have registered a case against the minor driver under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. Hubballi Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar stated that the accident occurred while attempting an “action brake reel,” where both vehicles approach at speed and brake suddenly.

Police further said the electric bike was registered in the name of Vinayak Miskin of Hubballi, while the Audi had been transferred from Noida to Dharwad in 2022 after a no-objection certificate was issued by the Noida RTO.

An investigation is underway to determine the full sequence of events and fix responsibility in the case.
