00:16Hi, I'm Yusuf Mehdi. I'm here with Mark Whitten.
00:19Hey everyone.
00:20We're from the Xbox team and we're going to walk you through the Xbox One user experience on a real
00:25live Xbox One machine.
00:27And what we want to focus on is how games and entertainment come together to create some real magical experiences
00:32for you.
00:33Let's go ahead and just jump right in.
00:35So what you see here is the Xbox One home screen.
00:38It's not yet signed in and what we're going to do is kind of walk you through it.
00:42In the center here are the last couple things I was doing, playing a game, watching a movie.
00:47To the left is where I can actually customize it so I can put the things I most care about
00:51and want to get to right there,
00:53whether that be games, movies, TV, music.
00:56And if I go to the right, I can see access to a library of great entertainment.
01:00Let me show you the first real kind of magic moment, which is how we can, for the first time
01:05ever,
01:05personalize the TV experience around you and get all the things that you care about right there, no passwords required,
01:12simply automatically get signed in with the power of Kinect.
01:15To demonstrate that, I had covered up the Kinect initially so it wouldn't see us.
01:18I'll just go ahead and pull that cover off.
01:21And now, as if we walked in the room, Mark is automatically recognized and then I'm recognized.
01:28And we're presented with our own custom home screen.
01:31It had Mark there first.
01:32So Mark, why don't you kind of walk us around your home screen?
01:34Sure.
01:34So you can see it's now transformed around me and my content.
01:37And so the tiles are blue.
01:38That's my customized color that I've chosen.
01:40And you can see right next to the big tile in the middle, I've got my social information.
01:46My gamer pic, my friends, all of that kind of stuff.
01:48And we're going to show a little more of that later when we talk about some of the Xbox Live
01:52features.
01:52Of course, as I go over now, I have my pins.
01:55So this is all the content that I've decided I wanted to save.
01:58And on any Xbox that I log into, I'm going to get my content.
02:01It'll always be there for me.
02:03But it gets even better than that.
02:05So not only can Mark have his, but as you can see we can both be here and we can
02:08get back and forth between us really magical.
02:10Literally by saying show my stuff.
02:12Let me show you how that works.
02:14Xbox, show my stuff.
02:19And just like that, I now get brought to my own personal dash screen.
02:23You can see I have green as my theme because I'm on brand here for Xbox.
02:28And if I go over here to the left, what you can see are my pins.
02:31So I've pinned some music, TV shows I like to follow.
02:35So why don't you show us some of the other features you like here, Mark?
02:37Sure.
02:38So the first thing I want to do is really take you on a tour of how easy it is
02:41to move around in your games
02:42and throughout all of the other experiences that you can do on Xbox One.
02:46To start, I'll take back control.
02:48Xbox, show my stuff.
02:53And so I'm back with my stuff.
02:55And I'm going to go right back where I was.
02:56I was playing a little Forza earlier.
02:59Xbox, go to Forza Motorsport 5.
03:03And you can see that it's left off right where I left it, right where I'd pause the screen.
03:07So I'll just start and I'm playing with no waiting.
03:10I didn't have to load.
03:11I didn't have to find my save game.
03:12I'm right back where I left off.
03:14Fast.
03:14But the great thing about Xbox One is I haven't left anything behind.
03:18I'm still there with all of my content, with the dashboard, with any of the other applications I want to
03:22go to.
03:23Xbox, go to Internet Explorer.
03:27And now I'm in Internet Explorer.
03:29Xbox, watch TV.
03:32And I'm back in some TV I was watching.
03:35Xbox, go to Forza Motorsport 5.
03:39And I'm right back to where I was in my game and I can keep playing.
03:42I can go in and out of stuff.
03:43I can find the content I care about and just move through it really, really quickly.
03:47To just give you one more example, I'm just going to move through a bunch of stuff in the system
03:50really quickly.
03:52Xbox, go to Hulu Plus.
03:56Xbox, go to Netflix.
03:59Xbox, go to Friends.
04:02Xbox, go home.
04:06And of course, while I'm using my voice, I can also use the gamepad.
04:09In fact, anytime you want, you can press this one button and get right back to the home, move around
04:13the system,
04:14go into the content that you want and that you care about, you know, like Forza or, you know, like
04:20TV.
04:23So that was great.
04:24Very fast.
04:25Now, one of the things people have asked us is, hey, what's the value of having entertainment and gaming brought
04:29together?
04:30Why does that get better if really what I mostly like to do is gaming?
04:33I'm going to share a couple of magical examples here.
04:36Imagine, for example, here I'm watching television.
04:38I'll go ahead and turn the volume down on that a little bit.
04:41And now what I've got is a multiplayer invite just came across.
04:44So this is an invite for Mark and I to join a game.
04:46You wouldn't get that today on today's system.
04:49But here with Xbox, you never miss a moment.
04:51You're able to go right to the thing that you care the most about.
04:53Here's another notification opportunity.
04:56With Skype, now because of the Connect and because we are automatically signed in,
05:00we know if you're in the living room.
05:02And so if someone is trying to reach you via Skype, we can send that invite right to the television,
05:06right to where we are.
05:08And so in a second here, we're going to have someone from our team send us a Skype invite.
05:12There it is.
05:14Xbox answer.
05:17And just like that, even while I'm watching TV, I can automatically get brought to a Skype call.
05:22Now, what we've got here is we're going to actually show you Skype with two Xbox Ones.
05:26So we're using the Connect with that beautiful 1080p camera that can show you a widescreen view.
05:31So it's not just a little face shot you get sometimes with your phone and your laptop,
05:36which are also great and also work with the Xbox.
05:38This is a good example of going Xbox to Xbox.
05:42All right, so we've made our connection here coming in.

05:51Show us the power of the widescreen Connect here.
05:55Yeah, absolutely.
05:56Let me just give you a quick tour of my living room here.
05:59You know, here's the left wall.
06:01Pretty interesting.
06:02What's nice about this is as I walk, the Connect sensor follows me.
06:06And it's actually not using motors to move the camera.
06:08It's using just software and focusing, being smart about where I am in the room.
06:13We'll also use that smarts if there are more than one person in the room to make sure everybody's picked
06:18up on the picture.
06:20Hey, I want to have you say hi to somebody for me.
06:22She's always hoping someone will Skype in so she can bark at them or at least just visit with them.
06:27That's fantastic.
06:28Shameless, but I love bringing the dog into the demo, Harry.
06:32What can I say?
06:33It looks really good.
06:34And I think one of the powers there is that Connect can actually read the skeletal frame.
06:38That's how it's doing some of that magic.

06:41Maybe show us one last feature from Skype here.
06:45Yeah, absolutely.
06:47Xbox, hang up.
06:50All right, so there's a little bit of look of how Skype just looks fantastic in the living room.
06:54It's going to be great for the family.
06:57Anyways, now, one of the other great features we've got, of course, with Xbox is Xbox Live.
07:01And no better guy to walk us through it.
07:03Mark, why don't you show us some of the new things in Live here on Xbox One?
07:05Absolutely.
07:06And, you know, to do that, I'm going to get right back where we were in Forza.
07:09And you'll remember, even through all that, we're right back.
07:11I can come back into the game.
07:12And so one of the things I want to show here is one of my favorite features, which is our
07:15game DVR.
07:16So I'll go around here real quick, and, you know, we'll do something fun.
07:20Just play a little bit.
07:21And at any point in time, Xbox, record that.
07:27And just like that, I've told Xbox I want to keep that last few seconds and really create something magic
07:32with it.
07:32And you see it's already ready as one of my game clips.
07:34And I could keep playing, but what I'm going to do is I'm going to take action on that real
07:38quick to show you some of our editing capabilities.
07:40So I've gone in here to my notifications and we'll edit the clip that we just created.
07:44So as we move in here into our upload studio, which gives you these capabilities, you can see it's got
07:48the clip that I had captured and we'll start editing.
07:51And one of the fun things I think we'll do is maybe add a little bit of picture-in-picture
07:54using Kinect again to really capture some of what we were thinking as we went through that great clip.
07:59So it's got my clip from the game there.
08:01And I'll just move up here and do record with Kinect.
08:05And Kinect gets started here.
08:07Hi, cameraman, wave hi there.
08:09And we'll start recording at that time.
08:11What you'll see, the game clip will start and we're in the middle of narration mode.
08:15So we can narrate, you know, like as I went, like.
08:18Mark, that was a tremendous turn.
08:19How did you pull that off?
08:20Well, it's the right trigger, actually.
08:22It's gas and then there's like turning.
08:24And so I did a lot of that as I did it.
08:26All right.
08:26So we've created our clip.
08:28I'll stop recording.
08:30And just have a little bit of fun.
08:32Maybe we'll add a skin to it.
08:34I like the slam skin.
08:36So I'm going to pick slam.
08:38And we will finish it and upload it onto the service.
08:43So I can add another name.
08:44I can tag it.
08:44I can do all that kind of fun stuff.
08:46But I'm going to skip that and start the upload.
08:48And just like that, we start rendering our video and getting going.
08:52And in just a couple of seconds here, we'll see how we did.
08:58Here we go.
09:01And we're right in the middle of our clip.
09:02We've created something special and it's already being uploaded onto the live service
09:07so that all my friends could see it so that it's a part of that experience.
09:10That's fantastic.
09:11I think it actually might be good.
09:12Well, since we're doing this, why don't we show them how friends actually get notified
09:16about those great clips coming up.
09:17Great idea.
09:18So let's just go right back into that friends area that I told you about earlier
09:22when we went to the dashboard.
09:24And the first thing that you're going to notice is what we call our activity feed.
09:28So I have all of the stuff that I can get to.
09:30But one of the really cool features is I get this view of what all of my friends have been
09:34doing on the service.
09:35So whether they're what games they're playing, if they've unlocked an achievement,
09:40if they've uploaded a video, it's right here for me.
09:42It's really rich and it's really, really fast to get to.
09:45So a really great way for you to discover content and see what people have been doing.
09:49As well, here's where I get to my profile with my friends and our new feature followers,
09:54which allows everybody that wants to to keep track of me or to follow me.
09:58I, of course, can control what people see, but it lets more people see my activity feed.
10:03And you might imagine following some of the top gamers.
10:06It's a great way to discover people that you might want to play with.
10:09All right.
10:10And then the last thing I'll show real quick is, of course, it's about your achievements
10:13and getting really rich achievements and your profile.
10:15So I'll go up to my profile.
10:17And you can see we've got our great 1080 gamer pic.
10:19I've used my avatar for mine.
10:21And we can see the recent activity that I've been doing, my game clips.
10:25I could do this with any of my friends.
10:26And, of course, this is where I could join a party.
10:28And it's all right there for me.
10:29It's always ready.
10:31Now, one of the challenges with live television is finding what you want to watch.
10:35And sometimes what is on is what you're looking for.
10:38But sometimes you also want to do catch-up TV.
10:40Sometimes you want to be able to have just the things you care about.
10:44Xbox Show Guide.
10:47Now what we've done is we've pulled together all of that in one really powerful tool called
10:51the One Guide.
10:52I can do a few things here.
10:54I can navigate with my voice.
10:56Xbox Select.
10:58What's on HBO?
11:03What's on ABC?
11:08What's on ESPN?
11:11That's pretty cool.
11:12Very simple.
11:13You can get around just to the things that you want.
11:15In addition now, I can also get my own favorites.
11:18So what I've done is I've created my own favorites list here.
11:21And let me go up here and show you.
11:22I've got, for example, Sundance Channel on HBO.
11:25But I can also add app channels.
11:28So, for example, I've added Hulu Plus, the popular shows and the popular episodes, as
11:33a channel on my One Guide.
11:35I even added that application from the NFL as another channel.
11:39And over time, you can imagine adding videos, adding photo sites, literally one place where
11:44I can create my own channel, all my content in one place, customized to me.
11:48Mark has his own.
11:49Why don't you show me yours, Mark?

11:55And just as you would expect, it goes to my content.
11:58We're even in with my blue highlights.
11:59And I've got a different set of favorites and even a different set of app channels that
12:04I've pinned on mine.
12:04I've got a little machinima that I like to catch up on the latest gaming videos.
12:08And this is the power of Xbox One, whether it's gaming, whether it's your friends and
12:12social, whether it's television, it's always personalized to you and it's super simple
12:16and instant to move throughout the system.
12:18So there, hopefully you get to see a little bit of a look at the Xbox One overall experience.
