00:44We met on an online dating platform.
00:47We went out for a coffee through the drive-through,
00:49at which point she told me she didn't drink coffee.
00:51So it was a great date.
00:52I didn't have to pay for a thing.
00:54When we finally met, I had been in the military for 14 years.
00:57I grew up as a military child myself.
01:00I just swore I would never, ever marry into the military myself.
01:04I didn't want that lifestyle.
01:06And here I am.
01:08I'm irresistible.
01:11We are a family of five.
01:12I have a son from a previous marriage, Noah, 19.
01:15And we have two other children.
01:17Maggie is six years old, and Lockie is four.
01:21He just finished his first year of school.
01:23I'm originally from the Moncton area, actually Riverview in New Brunswick.
01:27It was always some of my fondest memories growing up as a child,
01:29spending time at the beach.
01:31I think it's such a unique experience to be able to live by an ocean.
01:34So I wanted kids to have the same opportunity growing up that I had,
01:37where we can actually reach out and touch it and smell that ocean air.

01:43So being in the military life, I grew up moving around all the time.
01:47I never lived near the ocean.
01:49It is my dream to find a home that my kids can grow up in,
01:55something that I never had.
01:57We're currently living in North Bay, Ontario.
02:00We love it, but North Bay is just not somewhere where I can see raising the family
02:04and retiring from the military.
02:06We are ready to move to Nova Scotia and find our property on the ocean
02:10and finally set some roots for us.
02:14The main wish list items that we would want in the new house,
02:17we need to be able to see the water from wherever we live.
02:21We would want four to five bedrooms as well as to have a room for family
02:26to be able to come and visit and stay in for long stretches.
02:28I definitely need a garage for our classic car.
02:32We need more bathrooms and I would love to have an en suite.
02:35Ideally, the kitchen would have enough space for us to spend time as a family.
02:39A dedicated office space is needed too.
02:42We need a lot of land with privacy.
02:44We do a lot of outdoor activities with our family.
02:47Our budget for the house is $900,000.
02:50But there is some wiggle room in the price point for sure.
02:53Being a military family, you move to a house and everything you do is,
02:57can I resell this? Are other people going to like this?

18:43It's going to be such a dream to be able to stay in one spot.

18:51So, the first one, the sea chalet, beautiful spot.
18:54I loved how open it was, and I loved the land.
18:57Most of all, it had a garage.
18:59There is a whole laundry list of things we want to upgrade to the house, but it is all cosmetic
19:03as opposed to structural.
19:04But at the price point of $859,000, it does leave us $40,000 of wiggle room to be able
19:09to make these upgrades.
19:10Alright, so let's talk about the second house that we saw, Fundy Heights.
19:14What a gorgeous house.
19:15It felt very open, very airy, and super modern.
19:18And similar to the sea chalet, it just gives you that wow factor when you walk in with the beautiful
19:24windows.
19:24But this house had the upgrades that we wanted.
19:26We love the house. We love the updated finishes. We love the layout. It has everything we want. It has
19:32an amazing view.
19:33The price. $1 million.
19:36Yes, it's over our budget. Sometimes that's what you have to do. We could just unload and live.
19:41Let's talk about the last property, Overlook Point.
19:44It is a smaller house, but it is the only one that actually had waterfront access.
19:50This house priced at $825,000 would leave us $75,000 to our budget to be able to renovate, to
19:57be able to expand.
19:58So you're looking at a garage, plus, plus, plus.
20:01But is the house too small for us? Are we compromising too much just to have those views?
20:06How do you decide between three very different, but incredible houses?
20:10I was looking for a feeling, and I know which house gave that to me.

20:23We knew coming right into this house that this was the one for us. It just felt so right.

20:29They accepted our offer, and we are so happy.
