00:33We've been together now for close to 10 years.
00:36I think we're ready to make the move
00:38to get out of the congested downtown.
00:40And find our forever home on the water, hopefully.

00:47We went for Vietnamese food
00:49and I think you had your first pho.

00:51We enjoyed the lunch.
00:53It was kind of, I was like, wow,
00:53he was a very handsome man.
00:55It's kind of worked ever since.
00:58I have two kids.
01:00Sam, who is going to be 16 in a few weeks,
01:03and Lucy, who just turned 19.
01:05The most amazing part about meeting Lane
01:07was that, you know, you don't just get one person,
01:10you actually get to meet three really wonderful people.
01:13We're very lucky to be able to grow up in rural Nova Scotia.
01:16I actually grew up in Chester, where boating is a way of life.
01:20I'm from Port Hawkesbury.
01:22My grandfather was a lobster fisherman.
01:24My uncles are lobster fishermen.
01:25It might be a reason why we click so well together.
01:28The ocean is in our blood,
01:30and it's definitely something we want to get back to.
01:32We live in Halifax.
01:33Our business is running smooth after many years
01:35of working on it together.
01:37But we've decided that it's slow down the pace,
01:39get back to a rural setting.
01:41Chester's a pretty special place,
01:43and it does offer more option for waterfront property
01:46or ocean view, which is really what we're seeking.
01:49The wish list for the new house is ocean access.
01:52We've got to have three bedrooms at least.
01:53It's got to have, you know, an open kitchen.
01:55We entertain often.
01:57Tristan is a pretty accomplished cook.
01:59I enjoy what, let's call it the quintessential Chester house.
02:03Also, we really love privacy.
02:05If we can have trees around us, woods and a swimming pool.
02:10But again, I'd love the turnkey.
02:12I'd like to walk in the door and not even have to pick up a paintbrush.
02:16I think I've got enough going on in exterior projects now
02:19that we might be able to settle on a house that doesn't need work.
02:22Yeah, let's just say I don't want to have to get out of bed
02:25and go right into my work boots instead of my slippers.
02:28I think we'd be open to a little bit of gussying.
02:32We'll just see how it goes.
02:34Well, the budget for the house is $1.4 million,
02:36and I kind of think we can get everything we want with that,
02:38so we're optimistic.
02:40We've probably been in six different locations in the past five years.
02:45I'd love for this to be our last move,
02:48hopefully be our forever home.
02:50I think it's going to be a lot of fun.
02:53So our realtor Susan, her mother and father are actually my godparents,
02:56so we've been very close since we were young.
02:58She's been a business partner in the past
03:01and now become a close friend.

03:04She almost knows our house before we do.
03:06I'm pretty close to both Tristan and Lane.
03:09Tristan and I probably speak on the phone once a day.
03:12We have a lot of common interests, like especially in real estate.
03:15Lane is also real estate savvy,
03:17but he and I have more of like a fun-loving relationship.

03:27We're a stone's throw from the ocean.
03:29We're walkability to absolutely everything that is available in Chester.

03:49all I can think about is what would Tristan and Lane do with this house.
03:54Today I'm taking Tristan and Lane to see a four bedroom,
03:58two and a half bathroom home located right in the heart of Chester.

04:05The home is within walking distance of the ocean.
04:08It's well under their budget at $778,000.

05:36I mean, I'm kind of thinking if we concentrate on this area being, let's call it almost like a large
05:41picturesque window that's going to kind of give us this look into a pool area.

08:36It's a modern foundation.
08:37I mean, we'd be dealing with a structure that would be easy to build off of.

08:44So there is a lot of budget to work with there to turn this into exactly what you want.
08:51Still isn't my turnkey house that I'm really striving for, but it's still on the list.

11:35And then, of course, you come right along into this gorgeous living room.

11:50As much as the exterior of the house doesn't seem to have that classic seaside Chester vibe that we're looking

11:58I'm definitely getting it on the inside.
12:00One thing I do notice is maybe no spot for a television.
12:04So there's actually a family room on this level.

17:46The lot size is a little bit of a negative.
17:48It's not exactly turnkey, but it's really close.
17:51We're looking at a couple of projects there to make this work for us.
17:54You know, it is a little bit smaller than you were looking for.
17:57Maybe not as much privacy, but I guess ultimately when you guys are looking at the other options,
18:03you need to decide what goals are most important to you.

20:55So I mean like we'll be alright.
20:56It's really coming together for us here.
20:59And I think we've made the right choice.
