00:00Can't stand your everyday NFL refs, obviously.
00:03What I cannot and will not ever tolerate again is having to be subjected to replacement refs like we were
00:09in 2012.
00:10A story on Pro Football Talk from Mike Florio two days ago that the NFL is, quote,
00:15laying groundwork for hiring replacement officials this season if the NFL is unable to agree on a new collective bargaining
00:21agreement with the NFL Referees Association.
00:23And so to the both of them, what's the hangup?
00:26Is it the cheap-ass owners don't want to make the refs full-time with benefits?
00:29Is it that?
00:30And the refs, you don't want more accountability?
00:32No.
00:33And if that's the case, it's time for a reckoning.
00:35They need to be up at a podium after a game, take questions about bad calls, maybe get fined on
00:40calls that are wrong.
00:41Players and coaches should be able to speak about them without being reprimanded, something like that.
00:46Either way, I can't believe—
00:48Is that part of the hangup, Murray?
00:49My understanding is that some of it from the refs, they don't want a checks and balances system.
00:57So, listen, I just—that they are considering replacement refs after 2012, I can't—I mean, we still all—any NFL fan remembers
01:07the Fail Mary game,
01:09the Seattle game against the Green Bay Packers and that nonsense that happened there.
01:12Even one that involved the Patriots, when Belichick lost his mind in Baltimore with that fake field goal that gave
01:17the Ravens the win,
01:18and he's walking off the field, as is the ref, he's trying to grab at the guy.
01:22Those games were marred by even worse officiating from people that didn't even belong there.
01:26So, we can't have this.
01:28You have five and a half months.
01:29Figure it out.
01:30Or further, you know, ruin your already diminishing product.
01:33You can't have—you can't have replacement refs again like you did 14 years ago.
01:38So, the piece about them not wanting accountability, I—Morian, I'm—you know, I haven't read up on it fully, but I'll
01:45just tell you from the outside, I don't buy it.
01:47I mean, I just—that's not—that's not why referees go on strike, because they don't want reviews or what.
01:55That's not what happens.
01:57They want pay, benefits, things of this nature.
02:00I am not going to allow for, if this goes deep, any sort of—you know, the owners to get away
02:08with that.
02:09The owners are going to have you believe that they're not out there because they don't want reviews?
02:17Lie.
02:18My guess is that's a lie from the cheap-ass owners, from what you know of these NFL owners,
02:25some of whom will charge their players $8.99 for a fruit cup late in the day,
02:32who have planes with ashtrays in them, et cetera, et cetera.
02:36It's behalf of the country.
02:39You
