00:00The human being in me with a heart could tell that Venezuela wanted that game a lot more than the
00:05USA team did.
00:07And it meant a lot more to Venezuela.
00:09And it definitely came to fruition when after they won, you saw guys crying.
00:14I mean, it was clearly a monster deal for the Venezuelan team.
00:18So again, I hate losing, but if you're going to lose, you want to lose to a team that it
00:21means that much to.
00:22So that was cool to watch.
00:24It's interesting because the three of us have kind of different takes.
00:27I'm just a tuned in, super casual baseball fan, tuned in.
00:34I was, again, entertained with how that game ended.
00:38I was a little bit heartbroken, a little bit frustrated at the bats.
00:41And then all of a sudden, bang, Bryce Harper brings the drama.
00:44And I'll be damned if Venezuela doesn't turn around and win it.
00:47I was entertained.
00:48I was entertained.
00:51But I think us three, we watched it through a little different lens.
00:54I know, Luke, you had a different thought when this thing was going on, particularly early on with that home
00:58run, the first home run that put Venezuela up 2-0.
01:01Yeah, yeah.
01:01So, and just to touch on what you mentioned a moment ago.
01:04Yeah, it was a very, I'm not a world baseball classic guy, but it actually turned out to be a
01:07very fun and entertaining tournament.
01:09And I think it's something that a lot of American baseball fans don't quite understand.
01:13And I talk about it with my friends.
01:14But, you know, when I worked in baseball, I heard from a lot of these international players that they would
01:18rather win the WBC than a World Series because they didn't grow up on Major League Baseball like we did.
01:23And so for the Americans, obviously, you'd rather win a World Series than this pointless tournament that's held every three
01:28years.
01:28So it means a lot for these other countries.
01:31And so much so, I mean, Eduardo Rodriguez said after the game, he's won a World Series.
01:35He's won a World Baseball Classic.
01:36He said last night's win was bigger than winning the World Series.
01:38And that's a pretty common refrain for these players from other countries because, you know, they didn't grow up watching
01:44the World Series.
01:45It doesn't carry the same weight as it does for us.
01:47But circling back to what you said, yeah, my takeaway, though, from the actual game last night, looking at it
01:52from a Houston lens, from an Astros lens as we get ready for this baseball season.
01:55And I brought this up last year and Ron or Rob kind of shrugged me off.
02:00But I thought last night reminded me of what I would call the worst trade the Astros have made in
02:07probably the whole 10-year run, but certainly like the last five years.
02:12And that was giving up Williur Abreu who hit that homer for Venezuela last night.
02:16He homered the other night as well for Venezuela.
02:19He had a good tournament.
02:20He's had a good career since going to Boston.
02:22And they traded him.
02:23He was one of the top prospects.
02:24And they traded him for Christian Vasquez, who he got 30 games from as your backup catcher for half a
02:29season.
02:29He played three games in the playoffs, started three games in the playoffs, and then he was gone.
02:34Now he's, funny enough, back on the team trying to be the backup catcher this year.
02:38But you gave up Christian Vasquez, or I should say you gave up Williur Abreu for only 30 games of
02:42a backup catcher anyways, which is not a very important position.
02:46And instead, Abreu's gone on to he's been a gold glover the last two years.
02:49He had a better slugging percentage than Kyle Tucker did last year.
02:53He's only 26 years old.
02:54He's still cheap.
02:55He's under team control for another whatever it is, four years.
02:58You don't have to pay him until he's 30.
02:59And if the Astros had him on this team still, and this isn't one of those like, oh, they shouldn't
03:04have gotten rid of whatever.
03:06Justin, you know, this was a minor trade that if you held on to Abreu, this team, this lineup, this
03:11outfield especially, will look a lot different today,
03:13where that outfield on paper is one of the weakest in baseball.
03:16Now you throw in Abreu with the pieces they have in the infield.
03:19And that's a really good one through nine.
03:21So as I watched him homer last night and go crazy as he rounded the bases, every time I see
03:25him do something,
03:26I always think like, man, he should still be here and be the star of the outfield in Houston.
03:31I didn't even put two and two together, Luke.
03:33So I appreciate you bringing that to the table.
03:35There's two takes.
03:36You got the old casual, just casual baseball fan that was entertained.
03:40You got Luke who's digging deep into what could have been in the Astros outfield.
03:44And then you got Tyler.
03:45You got Tyler Milner, who I'm going to go ahead and tell you, he is just the WBC hater.
03:50I mean, I don't like to throw that term around, but I think it's very, very fitting.
03:54And Tyler would tell you that.
03:56I mean, he's just not a WBC, unless you're talking about white boy Chaz.
04:00He's not a WBC fan.
04:03And I think he's got a pretty slick takeaway from what we saw last night.
04:08Two gone in the first inning.
04:10Aaron Judge.
04:11Chance from the Venezuelans.
04:13Bolche, they say.
04:14Finishing.
04:16And Rodriguez does.
04:18The one-two from Rodriguez.
04:21Judge strikes out for the second time.
04:24And up comes the captain.
04:26Here's the moment.
04:27Chopper to third.
04:28Garcia.
04:29Inning over.
04:31One-two to Judge is right at the knees for strike three to Andy Yenny.
04:37Third strikeout of the night.
04:39Third strikeout of the night for that ogre known as Aaron Judge.
04:43No use for you, friend.
04:45Ain't my captain.
04:46Not my captain.
04:47No, sir.
04:48Tyler's WBC takeaway is Aaron Judge sucked in the final.
04:520 for 4.
04:53Three strikeouts.
04:54Not to mention, look, he came up immediately following, I think it was Bryce Harper's bomb
04:59with a chance to give us the lead, and I think it's when he grounded out the third.
05:04No, he struck out.
05:05Did he strike out that time?
05:06I think he struck out looking, right?
05:08It was so deflating.
05:09Harper hits the homer.
05:10I was out at a bar last night.
05:12Everyone's going crazy, and then Judge is standing up there, and he just strikes out,
05:15and you go to the ninth.
05:16You're in a tough spot if you're dependent on that ogre known as Aaron Judge in a clutch
05:21type of moment.
05:22Dude can hit 60 bombs over a given season, but whenever it comes to the big lights, it
05:26just kind of disappears.
05:28That is great, man.
05:29Again, the casual takeaway, I was entertained.
05:32My man Luke is digging deep into the Astros' trades, and Tyler just hates the WBC and is
05:37glad that Aaron Judge had an 0 for 4 night, even if it came at the expense of the USA
05:43not
05:44winning the championship.
05:45Guys, another thing we've got coming up here pretty quick, obviously starting tomorrow,
05:49I believe, is the tourney, man.
05:53College basketball tourney right around the corner.
05:55March Madness is here, and I want to do something real quick.
05:58I want to make sure that we get our final four picks out there.
06:01I don't want folks changing it as we see teams get upset early on.
06:06Just put them out there, man.
06:07Just put your name on what you've got your final four, and we'll see who gets the close
06:15is here.
06:16Tyler, who do you got in that final four?
06:18My final four for March Madness this year, I have Duke, I have them U of H Cougs, I have
06:26the Michigan Wolverines, and Dirty Red, Clint.
06:30I got your Hogs, your Razorbacks in the final four of this year's tournament.
06:33Those are my four right there.
06:35Okay.
06:36Okay.
06:36Okay.
