00:00Day two. How many days do you think we're getting up to, Tyler?
00:04It's hard to say.
00:05How many days do you think we're going to?
00:06It's hard to say.
00:07We're going to do it off the top of the show every day. Joe's got to go. Day two.
00:10The more they keep losing like last night, though, becomes obviously a bit more likely.
00:15Yeah, man. I feel like this thing may get up to about 30 days.
00:24I'm trying to do the math. Yeah, so another month. I could see that.
00:27I think it's going to be a little while. I know there's a lot made about this week.
00:30Yeah, and this is obviously a huge week. These seven games at home, you have to play well.
00:33They got off to a bad start last night.
00:35I don't think that if they play poorly this week that he loses his job on Monday.
00:40I still think we're a little ways away.
00:43At least something really bad happens.
00:45This guy at the Mets keeps holding on to his gig, so I don't know how that's rolling.
00:49But I don't know, boy. It just looks like this needs to come to an end.
00:56I feel like Joe will embrace it.
00:58It's not ideal.
00:59Probably. It's like, you know, when we talked about this last time I was in with you,
01:02and I kept referencing Alex Cora, who had just lost his job at the time,
01:05but Cora texted all the reporters saying, I'm happy afterwards.
01:09I think a spotter would probably be, too.
01:10I'll go sit home and get paid the same to not deal with this train wreck right now
01:14with all these injuries and watch bad baseball for three hours.
01:17Yeah, he has to watch it.
01:18And then have to sit up there and try to figure out who he's going to go to next.
01:20Yeah, and then answer questions about it after, you know.
01:23It's like, yeah, just pay me to go sit at home instead.
01:25Hey, where do y'all think Joe was when he found out, hey, guys,
01:30Carlos has doubled over in the cages, man.
01:36What are you talking about?
01:37Was he just in his office looking at, all right,
01:40God, what am I going to do with this fool?
01:43Somebody said, guys, man, Carlos is down in the cages.
01:47It looks like he's serious.
01:49What?
01:49Another one?
01:50Is that worse than the Jake Myers last year running out to center field?
01:54No, no, no.
01:55You still think that's right?
01:56Jake's right.
01:57713-572-4610.
01:59That's good, Luke.
02:00713-572-4610.
02:02YouTube and Twitch.
02:03Over the last few years, what's been the worst of the injuries?
02:07Like, what has been the worst of them all?
02:11Jake, to me, the reason why I put Jake at number one.
02:15I screwed up.
02:15Again, I think you can't include Yordan stepping on home plate after being out all year
02:23and that thing being too slick because somebody put some Mr. Clean or something on the plate
02:28and he slid and rolled his ankle.
02:30That might be.
02:31That might be.
02:32But Jake was checked out by the training staff.
02:37It's true.
02:37He was checked out by the training.
02:40Like, this wasn't an injury that crept up.
02:42He was checked out and I'll be damned.
02:45He did not make it past the mound trying to run to center.
02:50To take his position.
02:53That one's the worst.
02:54This one here, this one, like, he's taking swings in the cages.
02:59All right, damn.
03:00That's a weird freak incident.
03:02But they gave the okay to Jake.
03:05Yeah.
03:05And Jake could not get past the mound.
03:10Crackies.
03:12The mound.
03:13Like, God.
03:13Yeah, that's the leader in the clubhouse.
03:15Yeah, that's fair.
03:16To me.
03:16To me, yeah.
03:17Yes.
03:18Yeah.
03:19Yeah, there was.
03:20The difference, though, I will say, I agree with everything you just said, but the difference
03:23being, like, Correa's out for the rest of the year.
03:25Like, the severity of the injury, too, plays into it for me.
03:29Where Jake, you know, eventually did make his way back out there.
03:32But to have that bad of an injury where you have to get, what, surgery, and you're out
03:36six to eight months from it, something that happened in the batting cage, I don't think
03:38I've ever heard of that before.
03:40No, I've never heard of that.
03:42Just on a swing.
03:44I've never heard of that.
03:45I'm a first-timer.
03:47Yeah, then, yeah, obviously, someone texting, come on, man, when they told us you were done
03:52with 65% healed.
03:54That, again, that is, I don't know.
03:58No, that's a distant third.
03:58Oh, this is not good.
04:00That's a distant third to me.
04:02Someone, oh, I forgot, I forgot, I forgot, Chaz injured himself debt lifting.
04:11I forgot he hurt his back and had to go in the IAL, hitting that debt lift.
04:15Yeah, that was a rough one.
04:16It's been some rough.
04:17It's been some rough ones.
04:18But, yeah, Joe, man, it's day two on the countdown, and we'll see how long this thing
04:24rolls.
04:25All right.
04:27I watched the NBA playoffs last night, fellas, and it is now really scary how far away the
04:36Rockets are.
04:37Like, it is scary, Luke, to think how far away they are to see the Lakers get swept.
04:46And, listen, the Lakers competed.
04:48I know the final scores, Tyler, are, what, 18, 18, 23, and 5?
04:54Yeah, ass whoopings.
04:55But it was, like, it was, it was a, the series, if somehow a sweep that is one team winning
05:03by an average of 16 in all four games is tight.
05:07This is the tightest of those, right?
05:09The Lakers led at the half multiple times.
05:12Hell, yesterday, they were up five with, like, six minutes left in the game and had leads
05:18in the second half.
05:19And then the Thunder just, just put it on them at some point in the, in the second half.
05:26The crazy thing is, OKC did that, probably playing their B-minus game.
05:31They didn't have their best, their second best player.
05:34Shea wasn't really great until last night in game four.
05:37Or, like, it was, you know, they, they seemed to be just kind of sleepwalking.
05:43Like, they weren't given their A-game effort.
05:46And they swept the Lakers by an average of 16.
05:49And this team really controlled the Rockets.
05:56This Lakers team that got swept, really controlled the Rockets most of that series.
06:00Even the one game that Kevin Durant played, they controlled them.
06:04And then on a closeout on your home, your home court, they beat the hell out of you.
06:09You only scored 78 points.
06:10This is, this is concerning to think, like, wow, OK, they got to really regroup because
06:17they're not anywhere close to where they need to be to compete in the way that I feel like
06:22they thought they were going to be competing.
06:24Yeah, I mean, I didn't have a strong reaction as you guys did last night, you know, when the
06:29text came in.
06:31For one, the transitive property to me, it's kind of hard to say.
06:35I don't know.
06:36Because you take what happened in one series and then what happened for another team in
06:39another series.
06:40But is this more of a Rockets thing or more of a Thunder thing, right?
06:42Because the Thunder are undefeated in the playoffs.
06:44And last night was the closest game they've had.
06:46They've won every other game by nine plus.
06:47Is it, is it more an indictment on the Rockets or just more about how good the Thunder, how
06:53far above the rest of the West, or at least everyone except the Spurs, you know, that they
06:56are right now?
06:57Well, yes, that is true.
06:59But also what is true is the Rockets are, were making moves like they're a champion, like
07:04they're trying to win a championship.
07:06That's true.
07:07Right?
07:08And they are, they are not in the same stratosphere.
07:13Like they couldn't take, they could beat the Lakers.
07:15I don't know what the hell is going on in the chat.
07:18They couldn't beat the Lakers.
07:20And this Lakers team that they couldn't, couldn't solve without Luca, by the way, that they couldn't
07:25solve without Luca just got bum rushed by the team that you got to get past.
07:33Like the team that you have to get past.
07:36Like this, like I'm just watching this yesterday, Luke, and listeners, you can jump in on this
07:41as well.
07:42They can't, they can't just make subtle moves.
07:45If they're, if they're really looking to try to compete, right?
07:49Like they can't, like I heard Raphael Stone say yesterday, Hey man, we just need those
07:55five guys that started those last couple of games when, when KD was out to all take steps
08:00bro.
08:01That is not going to, that's not going to cut it.
08:03So I guess first off, they're not all Reed Shepard's not going to turn into Austin rivers
08:07or Austin Reeves, Reeves, not rivers, right?
08:11You'd rather be Reeves.
08:11He's not going to just turn into Austin Reeves next year, right?
08:15Like they're, I mean, they're like all five of them take steps.
08:17They can't just make minor moves and cross their fingers and hope that these guys take
08:21jumps.
08:22They're going to, if they're going to try to compete like that, like they're not, they're
08:28not close to the Spurs or the Timberwolves.
08:29And then we just see this with the thunder, the team they just played just can't, they can't
08:34do anything with.
08:36And that is, I mean, they have got to make significant moves.
08:40In my opinion, they've got to be involved in anything and everything.
08:44If they're about that, if not, then you tear it down or do whatever you're going to do.
08:48And maybe you try to start over and find your Cade Cunningham or find your Wimby or find your
08:53SGA because they don't have that right now.
08:55Or they've got to do something because like that was eyeopening last night to me that there's
09:02a team that you should be passed in the Lakers that you clearly weren't.
09:08And then the team that you are trying to get to, I mean, it's, it's not even, it's, it's
09:14not even close.
09:16And, and they like either they've got to Giannis, all those talks.
09:20I know some people are not into that, but they, they have got to be involved in everything
09:24because what they have right now ain't working.
09:27Yeah, it's fun.
09:27You know, they're kind of like the Rockets this year are kind of like a, uh, going on
09:31a cruise where by the end of it, like everyone just hates each other and you can't wait to
09:35get off the boat and the vacation's not as fun as it was when it started.
09:38You think back to the start of the year opening night, the Rockets almost beat the Thunder
09:42and you're like, Ooh, right.
09:43Yeah.
09:43They're, they're on this level.
09:44And then by the end of the season, if we were to have had a playoff series, I think it
09:50would have been, yeah, probably worse than what we saw from the Lakers.
09:52I think it would have been ugly.
09:53So it just shows kind of, uh, the, the different track, the two teams went on.
09:58Um, and the Rockets certainly are not on that level and they need to figure out how to get
10:02on that level, whether it's going outside and bringing in someone like Giannis or trying
10:06to develop somebody else.
10:07What do you think it, what do you think it takes for them to get there?
10:10I know it's a good question.
10:11Cause I don't think Giannis is that guy, but I think that that idea of going out and getting
10:15another big star that whatever you have in house evidently is not enough.
10:20Alper and Stringoon did not take that step.
10:21Like a lot of people thought this year, he was ranked to the most overrated player in
10:25the league at the end of the season.
10:26Um, so you need to get somebody, I don't know if it's Giannis and honestly, I don't know what
10:30the other options are out there in terms of like free agency or who might be on the block.
10:34But to your point, yeah, what they have in the building certainly is not enough.
10:37What, what, what intrigues me and the way I look at the playoffs, it's not so much the
10:41Thunder I'm looking at.
10:42It's the two other teams where the Spurs, if the Spurs were to get to that next round and
10:47compete with the Thunder, that would tick me off more because boy, they, they blew past
10:52the Rockets in this development stage.
10:53Like Houston was tied to a post.
10:55Come on, Luke, you know, they've done that.
10:56You could see that.
10:57They already, I know, but it would be just, you don't need, you don't need that series
11:01to tell you that.
11:03But if they lost to the Timberwolves, I can take solace and like, oh, maybe they're not
11:06quite that good just yet.
11:08Uh, but they're still certainly ahead of the Rockets.
11:10But the other team on the other side of the conference is the Knicks, where I'm curious
11:14how this goes in the Eastern conference, because look, the Knicks got here last year at Thibodeau,
11:18but they fired that defensive coach because they wanted more offense and they brought in Mike
11:22Brown, an offensive coach.
11:23And to this point in the playoffs, it's been a lot smoother and they're putting up big time
11:27numbers offensively and Jalen Brunson's looking great.
11:30If they can get to the finals and especially they can then compete with the Thunder, then
11:34like I'm an EMA guy, I've defended him on these airwaves for months.
11:37But as a Rockets fan, I would start thinking like, oh, wait a minute, look at what happened
11:41here at the Knicks simply by going from a defensive coach to an offensive coach, didn't
11:44make any other big splash in the offseason.
11:46And for the Rockets could just a subtle move like that result to big enough changes where
11:51you can try to draw closer to the Thunder if you bring in the right offensive mind.
11:55Yeah, from YouTube, shout out to Cornbread.
11:59He's here with us every day.
12:00I shout out to you.
12:00Frank, I see you.
12:01Rob, Joseph, I see you.
12:03The Rhino, I see you.
12:05As you guys roll with us every day.
12:08Cornbread, man, the Rockets just need a point guard.
12:11Man, Cornbread.
12:12Yeah.
12:12Who is this point guard?
12:15I mean, yeah, I can ride with you.
12:17You can use a point guard.
12:18Who are you telling me?
12:19It's going to be Fred.
12:19Are you talking about Cade Cunningham?
12:23Hell yeah if they had Cade.
12:25Yeah, they'd be in it.
12:28Yeah.
12:29They're not, like, yeah, they can use a point guard.
12:32It's got to be, like, one of the top ones in the league.
12:36Like, Fred is a good player.
12:39Fred is not jumping this.
12:42Add Austin Reeves.
12:43Could he be your point guard?
12:44Okay.
12:45Yeah, something like that.
12:46But, no, I don't think Fred is jumping you up to that level.
12:53I think they do need a point guard.
12:55I will agree with you on that, that they wasted and probably wasted some of the development
13:01of a man Thompson trying to put him in that role and making him play out of position.
13:05But, yeah.
