00:00Like, I don't know, are we aware of this?
00:02That is eight straight they have lost to the Seattle Mariners.
00:06We sucked.
00:08Eight straight games.
00:10And this all started when they came down the stretch last year.
00:15And we were sitting there and we were like, all right, we all know the Astros,
00:19they were leading and the Mariners were walking them down at the end of last season.
00:26They were leading, but we knew there was a big series against the Mariners.
00:29And it was like, that's really going to determine the West.
00:33Mind you, the Astros missed the playoffs by one game last year.
00:36And this is when this thing started, is when they got swept in that huge series
00:42towards the end of the year and the Mariners took over the West.
00:44And then they have just dominated this thing.
00:47And now it is to the tune of eight straight.
00:50It felt like it ripped my nuts off.
00:52And this is why I've said this on the other side.
00:59This is the part that is really hard, I think, for Astros fans to deal with.
01:06Luke, you've been around.
01:07Tyler, I know you've been around through this whole thing.
01:09Listeners as well.
01:11You remember when the Astros used to win some of these games before the game started?
01:17You remember the Astros used to be in just, like, there was a point there.
01:22The Yankees, they just, like, they got it.
01:25They got anxious.
01:26They just, I mean, they were in the Yankees' heads before the game started.
01:31I got a message for those Yankee turds.
01:33Chapman was out there in the bullpen hoping for blowouts
01:36and that he didn't have to come in in high-pressure situations.
01:40Really, really happy.
01:40And everybody in the AL West, it was this way.
01:44I remember watching Scott Service just panic and piss himself in the dugout.
01:54Twist his face all over in anger.
01:56Yeah, trying to make decisions and moves that all backfired.
02:00I remember when he just could not find a way to stop pitching to Jordan Alvarez
02:05in that playoff series that they just sent their asses home to.
02:09Man, that's gone.
02:12Like, that mystique.
02:14Damn it, Ron.
02:14I'm just, and I don't know.
02:16You're not wrong.
02:17I'm not sure when it officially happened.
02:20Maybe it was last year.
02:21I don't know.
02:21Maybe it was when Tyler was in attendance.
02:24The Rangers just blew through them in a game seven in route
02:28because nobody's afraid to play the Astros anymore.
02:32Like, nobody's in their head to play the Astros.
02:35The A's were like, please, hell, we'll play you in Sacramento.
02:38We'll play you at Joshua Street.
02:42We'll play you anywhere in California.
02:46Come on now.
02:47Where are you going?
02:48Here at Redwood Park?
02:49We'll play you at.
02:50Sequoia National Forest.
02:52We'll play there.
02:53That one.
02:55Like, that, the fear factor, the concern factor, the, oh, God, late in games.
03:00Here we go.
03:01They're going to make a play.
03:02They're going to do something.
03:03That is gone.
03:04Say goodnight to the Astros.
03:05They have completely lost it.
03:07And that was a, I mean, that kind of was a big piece for the Astros is you just knew
03:13at the end their guys will be, would be the ones more likely to make plays.
03:18And the other team is probably going to do something to lose it for themselves.
03:22And that is, that is shot right now.
03:25Yeah.
03:26I think it started when Dana Brown took over.
03:28Okay.
03:29But, but no, but, but more, more realistically, I think it was probably that playoff series
03:34of that first year though, 2024, because like you go back to 2024 and they started off pretty
03:40much like they did this year.
03:41They had almost an identical record at this point of the season and then rallied to make
03:45the playoffs.
03:46And he thought like, oh yeah, here come these Astros.
03:48You can never count them out.
03:49And then they went into the playoffs and an old friend, you know, AJ Hinch there in Detroit
03:54just swept them out of the playoffs and, and, and, you know, it really changed things.
03:58They didn't make the playoffs last year.
03:59They're probably not gonna make the playoffs this year.
04:00So it seemed like that was the beginning of the end.
04:03And then last year we were waiting for them to do that same thing of really turn on the
04:08afterburners and just be the same old Astros that it's still their division to lose.
04:12And that wasn't the case.
04:14And now you look up and they're last in the American league this year, uh, worst record
04:18in the, in the whole league.
04:19So I really, I do think it was when Dana Brown took over, but not that exact moment, obviously
04:25of when he was hired.
04:26It happened during that first season where they lost that boogeyman appeal that, that
04:30Figge always references and, uh, and, and now this team, yeah, what a difference two
04:36and a half years makes.
04:37They are so far removed from that, that former great version, but you're right.
04:41Cause I remember last year thinking, just get to that series.
04:45They're going to get to that series.
04:46And, and what's going to happen all the time is just like with every AO West team up until
04:52that point, but the Rangers, just like every AO West team, the boogeyman is there and they're
04:59going to try to do too much.
05:00And the Astros are going to come through like they have done throughout this run.
05:05And they did not only did they not, they have not, they have not beat these jokers since
05:12eight straight help.
05:14Now I'm, I, this is hard.
05:16It looks like, it looks like the Astros are the ones thinking, here we go.
05:21Here we go.
05:22It sucks to suck.
05:23What's going to happen?
05:24Is Julio going to hit one out by my God, Julio, Jesus.
05:28I mean, he hit that off the back wall and that thing, that thing came back past the, past
05:33the track, the track, like my God, that was the Pujols one, but it is, it is just, it
05:40is just mind boggling how fast this happened.
05:43I do want to give a shout out to Pete Lambert, Pete Lambert though.
05:47So I will see, cause this is, this is to me what this thing is turning into fellas is
05:52all right.
05:53Who do they have that can, can be an addition to maybe what they can be when they get everybody
05:59healthy for next year in the future.
06:02And Spencer Arregetti, are you going to be able to keep doing this?
06:05Um, Pete Lambert, who is now in five starts, uh, 29 and a third innings has a 2.76 ERA,
06:1329 Ks to 12 walks, uh, and his last two, two games, 14 innings, seven innings a piece in
06:20there, three earned runs, 10 Ks to five walks.
06:22Is this something that they could continue to find?
06:25Will those be two guys along with Hunter Brown that can be in, in a rotation somewhere
06:30like that's like, that's what this thing is about.
06:33So shout out to Pete Lambert.
06:34I'm sorry.
06:34You got no run support, Pete, but, but like that, that is promising, but who this is, I
06:41mean, what, uh, what Dave, what Dave Chappelle say, well, that life comes at you fast.
06:47It's true.
06:48All of a sudden the red balls.
06:50Oh, it, watch it happen to my chiefs.
06:52That's not the one.
06:53Yeah.
06:54I said it tongue in cheek in the open, but it is kind of true that you can't lose that
07:00start last night for Peter Lambert.
07:01That's one of your few guys because now you have EMA tonight and then you have, um, McCullers
07:07apparently tomorrow.
07:08I was like, okay, well here goes, you know, now we just started losing streak because we
07:11couldn't get it done with Lambert.
07:13McCullers was, McCullers was the second most trusted pitcher on this day after he looked up
07:18and his ERA was above seven.
07:20Buried me in the H.
07:21And he's got nine fingernails.
07:22Yeah.
07:23Talk about bad injuries about that.
07:25And they left him out there.
07:28What is going on?
07:29We got it.
07:30We got to talk about Jake.
07:31I just thinking about that.
07:33Jake, they sent Jake out there and he wasn't, he was clearly still hurt because he didn't
07:37make it to his position.
07:38And then Tyler, you remember, you remember why Jake's on the aisle now?
07:42He swung on the oblique.
07:44Remember he swung and he was clearly injured.
07:47Hold the oblique.
07:48They walked out there and checked him out and then they let him go back up there and try
07:51to finish the at bat and he tried to check swing again and he could, he couldn't go.
07:55And they pulled him in the middle of the at bat.
07:58What is maybe Jake's tricking them when they check his body?
08:03I'm assuming because the first time that it needs, it needs multiple times to figure out what's
08:09going on.
08:09All right.
08:10Speaking of, uh, speaking of the Astros real quick, we talked about the Yoran trade stuff
08:16that I had no pleasure in talking about.
08:18Yeah.
