00:00:00shorter by 20 centimeters narrower by 10 centimeters they're lighter by 30 kilos
00:00:06there or thereabouts depending on which team you are we believe so some teams
00:00:11are over the weight limit well over the weight limit and you get to see these
00:00:15cars with less downforce drivers really working at the wheel great shots there
00:00:20from on board with charlotte claire so no mclaren's in this race their only
00:00:25previous double did not start the two cars was indianapolis 2005 for obvious
00:00:30reasons pirelli michelin of course and michelin and bristo they were the tires back in 2005 i
00:00:40remember the race just not the tires either way lando norris sat on the pit wall before he went
00:00:45to the pit wall he stopped by the media pen and he had a chat with rachel brooks
00:00:50hi lando what can you tell us about the issue
00:00:55uh well um obviously that we can't race um yeah just frustrating um it's on the pu side so uh
00:01:03the
00:01:03guys tried as hard as they could to get everything sorted or find some solution but well we're unable
00:01:08to so uh yeah disappointing my first my first non-start in formula one so um yeah tough to take
00:01:15but it's uh it's life sometimes when did you know about the issue when did the team know
00:01:20uh i'm not sure exactly but i'd probably say uh an hour or so before going out um i was
00:01:28just warming
00:01:29up and getting ready to go drive and then uh found out about it so uh i'm not sure more
00:01:34than that just
00:01:35finally for me have they identified it enough to know what to fix or are they still going through the
00:01:40process no i think uh not i don't know yet they've they know it's just an issue that they can't
00:01:46fix for
00:01:47now um they need to look further into knowing exactly what it is why it's happened and uh and
00:01:53then the next step we'll be trying to figure out how to fix it thank you such disappointment for lando
00:01:59norris lewis hamilton has just been passed by charles de claire george russell fancies getting in on
00:02:05the act as well we were thinking while we were hearing from lando norris that our ferrari gonna
00:02:10engineer a swap of positions because leclerc seemed to be the faster uh ferrari but hamilton
00:02:16is not gonna fight this one back again and yeah i thought that these two were gonna really fight
00:02:22it hard and look at that almost contact was contact i think momentarily there in turn two and
00:02:26they got close on this very piece of tarmac yesterday and leclerc complained about that at the
00:02:32time this gives russell a chance now down towards turn six crofty and lewis hamilton has the inside
00:02:38line which might just save him for the moment runs george russell as wide as he possibly can
00:02:43russell is just chomping at the bit here to try and get past the ferrari leclerc is the faster ferrari
00:02:49he's starting to sail away a little bit hamilton really struggling for rear grip yeah i think that
00:02:55early attack that he made on kimmy antonelli might be coming to bite him right now crofty so he can't
00:03:01hang on to his teammate i was expecting the phone call from leclerc to say come on guys i'm a
00:03:07bit
00:03:07quicker here it's time to let me by and we've got to try to at least beat one mercedes today
00:03:13and uh
00:03:14here comes russell behind lewis hamilton now it's around the final few corners 11 12 13 before that long
00:03:25back straight hamilton has got a decent advantage in terms of car length over george russell here
00:03:31maybe russell just used up a bit too much battery earlier on in the lap he hasn't got enough of
00:03:36that
00:03:37energy boost and it's split 50 50 with the combustion engine for this season to try and continue his
00:03:43closing down of lewis hamilton but you know what even charles leclerc swinging it around that final corner
00:03:49not on rails by any stretch of the imagination while this goes on pierre gasly is hunting down
00:03:56esteban ocon hamilton slams the door on george russell through turn one and look at the gain he's
00:04:01made on charles leclerc in the last two thirds of a lap yeah that's where the overtake use really helps
00:04:08you when you're that car behind within one second of the car in front so and that's now what george
00:04:13russell and lewis hamilton have on top of charles leclerc so it helps you just to stay within contact
00:04:18if you don't even press your boost button on overtake mode alone there's nothing the driver
00:04:22has to do it's automatically uh activated and it will give you round about on this circuit round
00:04:28about a tenth to two tenths advantage in the over the car in front even if you don't press your
00:04:34boost
00:04:34button if you do press the boost button that extra 470 horsepower which you'll probably use on the back
00:04:40straight with overtake mode active like you can see in the graphics there the green overtake uh logo
00:04:47flashed up on on george russell it allows you by regulation an extra 30 at least 30 kilometers
00:04:54per hour over your competitor that isn't running overtake mode so it kind of if you want to use the
00:05:02boost button you can use that extra speed and it looks like hamilton's doing just that this time on
00:05:07run down towards turn 14. leclerc under pressure lewis hamilton back up in the second place for
00:05:13the time being lewis hamilton is the lead ferrari george russell is just hanging back once again maybe
00:05:19cooling his tires a touch after running so close has charles leclerc though now got the energy
00:05:24deployment at his disposal to get past lewis hamilton who's going to force him the long way around
00:05:29the outside charles leclerc says thank you i'll take that no problems and he'll move up into second
00:05:35place again hamilton though due to the nature of these corners can still continue to fight this one
00:05:40out and it's like team orders of ferrari this is two drivers going at it hammer and tongs wheel to
00:05:47wheel so they've ended up you can see by the battery logo at the bottom of your screen they've ended
00:05:50up with
00:05:51the same amount there goes hamilton down the inside leclerc cuts him off yeah that was hamilton
00:05:55just using a little bit more so pressing the probably pressing the boost button down towards
00:05:59turn six and this isn't over yet and he's not over because at turn seven he's almost alongside
00:06:04charles leclerc this is where lewis hamilton got past george russell yesterday this could be
00:06:10where lewis hamilton gets past charles leclerc today it is history repeats itself but on the exit
00:06:15charles leclerc has got that battery boost to get back ahead and here comes george russell now
00:06:21has hamilton been a bit too cavalier in the prancing horse on this lap but what we saw from turn
00:06:28seven
00:06:28all the way through turn eight nine and ten that was nothing to do with battery that was all pure
00:06:33driving you don't use the battery in all those corners so that was hamilton just being so plucky and
00:06:39just yeah overly aggressive as here comes russell now i think hamilton has used all of his battery this
00:06:45time and russell is massively on the attack and the crowd absolutely loving that giving george
00:06:50russell a standing ovation as he manages to get past lewis hamilton and up into third place wow
00:06:58and they did we said that this will be a high speed game of chess yeah with how these drivers
00:07:03use their
00:07:04battery a finite amount of energy they all have it that eight and a half mega joules of energy per
00:07:09lap
00:07:10apart from if you're the one with the overtake you get nine mega joules allowance and it's just how
00:07:16you use that finite amount of energy you get every lap you can use it and it's the way they
00:07:20imagine two
00:07:21people having the same salary oh as we see oh arvid limblad spinning down at the hairpin at turn 14
00:07:30and he's not having all his own way here today his teammate liam lawson have got ahead of him now
00:07:35had
00:07:35and science have got ahead of him only bottas perez and alonso are behind bit of a strange corner to
00:07:41lose it all by yourself there wonder we've already seen them lock up going into that turn yeah and
00:07:45we've also seen him have uh side by side and a bit of argy-bargy with right what's happened here
00:07:51then
00:07:51there's a tear off on his visor doesn't seem to be under pressure from anyone else
00:07:57just having trouble getting the car stops oh dear and the williams behind did well to avoid him as
00:08:04well really lit the tires up didn't he you could hear it as he spun around that was just it
00:08:08looked
00:08:08like it all started to go wrong on the brakes the rear just losing adhesion and the downshift didn't
00:08:13help as well and then gets onto the marbles and around it goes a strange one to see look at
00:08:19russell
00:08:19he's on the attack again he's coming at charles leclerc manages to get past lewis hamilton on the
00:08:24previous lap crowd roaring him on here to try and get past charles leclerc is he gonna swap around
00:08:30at the hairpin not on this particular occasion russell's gonna have to be content for one more
00:08:36corner to watch that rear crash structure of the ferrari and try and blast his way down the main
00:08:42straight 230 000 fans here sold out in shanghai getting a real treat if you love your overtaking this
00:08:50is featuring a fair amount of it so far but russell on this occasion just has to sit behind and
00:08:57be a
00:08:57bit more patient you can see on the graphic at the bottom of the screen there he was on the
00:09:01boost button
00:09:01and he's got overtake available but he had no battery left so there's no point being on the boost button
00:09:14which is really frustrating if you're george russell and if you're ferrari it's like yeah now i think we've
00:09:19done a much better job here this weekend than we did in australia last weekend because they are
00:09:24very much keeping this mercedes at bay the attend the one bernie collins who's really enjoying this
00:09:29battle more than anybody kimmy antonelli he's seven seconds clear out in front and rightly so
00:09:35because these cars battling are losing lap time all the time i've noticed on a few laps there leclerc
00:09:42being seven eight tenths a lap slower than kimmy antonelli so that's allowed him to gain that momentum
00:09:48gain that sort of breathing space they are controlling that tire how they're just able to
00:09:54um make sure that he's not suffering any grain and can reach the end of the race quick one crofty
00:09:59two seconds bernie george russell fancies second place in this race charles leclerc might be powerless
00:10:05on this occasion to stop him and it looks like he is it's mercedes back one and two antonelli over
00:10:11russell and who gets past shall declare bernie back to you yeah so quick one on that was should ferrari
00:10:17have brought in team orders if they held station and just tried to gain on kimmy antonelli would that
00:10:22have ended in a slightly better result than what we're seeing now then x point is if we get another
00:10:27safety car in this race i think everyone that is currently on a hard tire which is pretty much entire
00:10:33field should take it and get a fresh hard set on because we are seeing with that sort of tire
00:10:39delta
00:10:39that overtaken is possible uh very much so uh they already kimmy antonelli i think already has a pit
00:10:47window uh down to ollie bearman esteban ocon by the way is into the pits his teammate running fifth
00:10:55in this race that's where ocon was classified last year in the chinese grand prix just to explain what
00:11:00bernie was saying there about the fact that this pack here that we watched on screen was losing
00:11:04around about seven to eight tenths a lap and they were all fighting each other and using their boost
00:11:09button now using your boost button will help you overtake the car in front and dice it out with
00:11:14them as well but it will definitely lose you anywhere up to seven or eight tenths a lap by using
00:11:21your
00:11:21battery in the wrong parts of the track your car the system learns where the best places are
00:11:28to deploy your battery energy around the laps remember the old curse button we used to have
00:11:33where the drivers were told where and when to use it yep it's the same kind of thing but on
00:11:38a bigger
00:11:38scale so if you go messing with the system you lose out on ultimate on optimum lap time and that's
00:11:46why kimmy has pulled away by so much because he's not pressing his boost button let's give you the
00:11:51analogy uh charlotte claire was referring to mario kart and i i think the ferrari engineers put a mario
00:11:56kart picture on his uh on the dashboard on his steering wheel uh you know you play mario kart with
00:12:02me
00:12:02when i get the mushroom right i use it straight away even if there's a corner coming which is why
00:12:07i run
00:12:07wide and then lose even more places the simple analogy there for you and also the uh i was going
00:12:13to say about the the salary analogy you know just imagine in a crazy world crofty where we had the
00:12:20same salary where i earn as much as you imagine before the pay cut mister you would spend it all
00:12:27wouldn't you yeah yeah before the month's out tomorrow you know i'm tight i hang on to my i hang
00:12:32on to my boost button short arms deep pockets exactly that's what we're looking at here so
00:12:37it's fascinating to see how the drivers use it and you know it is a finite energy that everyone has
00:12:43per
00:12:43lap kimmy's been out in front just letting the system take care of things and because computers
00:12:48are cleverer than us mere humans that's why he's going so much quicker anthony davidson ladies and
00:12:55gentlemen don't mess with the system pay a fortune for that any day of the week but you know what
00:12:59last year look how close how similar these guys are on lap times i would i would say we wouldn't
00:13:06have seen russell overtake the two ferraris here in last year's regulations not just with drs no no
00:13:12it wouldn't have been enough on the same set of tires same life so it has allowed the player just
00:13:17gets a bit of a lock up there on under braking that's not going to help but it has allowed
00:13:21with
00:13:22these regulations the drivers to take the matter into their own hands and kind of use the boost button
00:13:28and battery in random places around the lap to create this what i see is a fun racing and a
00:13:36chance
00:13:36to actually see some overtaking so lewis hamilton's a bit closer to charles leclaire now because of that
00:13:40little lock-up i think leclaire's not exactly struggling but he's not exactly finding it easy i think
00:13:46and it might be that it it might be that they need to pit again 21 laps the top five
00:13:55have been
00:13:55running on these hard compound tires so we might yet see a bit more action uh in the uh pit
00:14:01lane
00:14:02uh we've lost albon we've lost bortoletto we've lost norris and piastri uh before the start of this
00:14:08race a double did not start for mclaren uh for oscar piastri absolutely awful for him who didn't
00:14:16start of course in australia um the last mclaren driver to record a dns in consecutive races
00:14:23according to the records of my very good friend sean kelly uh was bruce mclaren back in usa and
00:14:29mexico in 1969 so that that just shows it doesn't happen very often and we hope it doesn't happen
00:14:36again to oscar piastri for the rest of this season ted down to you yeah so uh the the hard
00:14:41tire starters
00:14:42starting to come in we saw esteban ocon pull the trigger on that and now uh plan c could come
00:14:51into
00:14:51play the ferrari filing cabinet of strategy has gone down the sea okay interesting so yeah now is about
00:14:57the time that the medium tire will do the rest of the race so it's going to be a stretch
00:15:03for ocon
00:15:03who was first in but now alonso's in expecting to see linvlade who can't wait to get off these tires
00:15:09they
00:15:09are pretty worn out on his racing balls but uh otherwise yeah kimmy antonelli continuing at the
00:15:14front george russell starting to nibble into his lead crofty mr patient mr russell might have to be a
00:15:21bit more patient as he tries to hunt down his team he's got nearly eight seconds to try and make
00:15:26up i
00:15:26didn't mention lance stroll is also out of this race suspected battery issue for him and that's why
00:15:32he came to a halt at turn one and why we have the safety car bernie collins to you yeah
00:15:37just as
00:15:37colopinto comes into the pity and as well there crofty these drivers that stopped under that first
00:15:43safety car up now done 22 laps on this hard tire and we have 22 23 to go so this
00:15:49would be an optimum
00:15:50point to stop and fit another hard tire for anyone that wants to convert to that plan c or two
00:15:57stop that
00:15:57we hear ferrari discuss they do have nice big window back to ollie berman in order to come in they
00:16:04would
00:16:04come in behind him but to come in and have much fresher tires to potentially go past and speaking of
00:16:09ollie berman he is running exceptionally well ahead of a stopping a little bit quicker almost lap on lap
00:16:18with the stopping oh bernie i'm gonna just come in there not ollie berman esteban ocon in the other
00:16:25hassas that are coming together potentially uh with i think it was gasly yeah i think gasly in the uh
00:16:32in the alpine but he's got bodywork damage on that barge board and we've had one safety car and are
00:16:39we
00:16:39going to get another if debris is on the track there's pierre gasly we're looking to see what damage
00:16:43that's colopinto i think it was colopinto that made he's made but that would make sense because
00:16:48colopinto's just pitted of course comes out of the pits here's esteban ocon coming at him
00:16:55in the turn one at a rate of knots colopinto just goes a bit wide on colder tires now tries
00:17:00to close
00:17:01off the gap didn't see him he didn't see him coming oh dear that's going to ruin his race going
00:17:07to
00:17:07ruin ocon's race and talking a race has been ruined fernando alonso's coming in to retire as we watch
00:17:13this replay again i could see what ocon was trying to do no it's a bit too late it was
00:17:18a bit too late
00:17:18colopinto's fault no no yeah it was just it was colopinto's on cold tires trying to get back to the
00:17:26apex ocon sees what's happening and tries to back out of it too late and just the gap was there
00:17:33and
00:17:33it was starting to close and then just it's a hard corner to to be fair to esteban it's a
00:17:39hard corner
00:17:39to try and back out of because you're so laterally limited under the braking that uh yeah that's um for
00:17:45me that's a racing incident and uh colopinto he did he just didn't see him he was just trying to
00:17:50get back onto the racing line and it's a very quite often that is the racing line to be fair
00:17:55to franco is you can have a very wide late turn into turn two yeah okay so i'll consider it
00:18:02that
00:18:03that's how i saw it but i can't it wasn't it wasn't a huge miscalculation on his part but i'm
00:18:10glad
00:18:10that he's put his hand up there uh but i still think it was a racing incident fernando alonso
00:18:16retiring from this chinese grand prix and his first by second retirement in two years
00:18:23here he retired from the race last year so that's six down and 16 still running and which esteban
00:18:31ocon is right at the back with sergio perez and valtteri bottas just ahead of him meanwhile at the front
00:18:37another fastest lap for george russell but in terms of how quickly is he closing the gap on
00:18:43kimmy antonelli only by about two tenths of a second or one and a half tenths on lap 34 a
00:18:49little bit
00:18:49more on lap 33 and a few milliseconds on lap 32 antonelli's got quite a big buffer but there is
00:18:56still
00:18:56a long way to go in this race yeah russell's caught him by four tenths over the last two laps
00:19:02so antonelli
00:19:03doing a great job out in front obviously he's it's the best case scenario when you've got a clear track
00:19:09in front no one to pressure you from behind you can drive how you want to drive i've already talked
00:19:15about driving to the system of the car what's hamilton got to say here i have no power okay
00:19:22fear give me something it's fw usable i come out of the last corner i've got no power negative we
00:19:29are
00:19:29looking into that lewis has been saying this constantly through this race that he's got
00:19:36no power i need to have more power he's about eight tenths of a second behind his team he was
00:19:42at the
00:19:42end of the last lap that's another lock up there from charlotte who's gone even wider this time around
00:19:47and whilst he might have power issues lewis hamilton his teammate has just handed third place back to him
00:19:54but if he does lack power hamilton on the exit of this corner this is the one he talked about
00:19:57does that
00:19:58give leclaire the opportunity to uh have another go around the outside potentially into turn one he's
00:20:04thinking about it he's going to try it well he is going to try it the crowd roaring the two
00:20:08ferraris
00:20:09around here they're almost side by side hamilton with that inside line manages to keep ahead there's
00:20:16your battery level by the graphics hamilton's got just a smidge more power at his disposal and he is
00:20:22using it it's a very good effect to stay ahead yeah the two ferraris as you'd expect as well between
00:20:28the two of them very evenly matched and hamilton was just sitting there lurking in the background
00:20:35with charles complaining obviously about his deployment strategy and the team are working on
00:20:40that to try and optimize things further but that is not what charles declare or ferrari needed to his
00:20:48race performance so i was just starting to question what do you do here if you're ferrari
00:20:52with their strategy they've floated the idea of a two-stop strategy there as i read into that their
00:20:58plan c on their menu of options of strategy yeah well you know i try i trot off to have
00:21:04a little chat
00:21:05with a few people in the morning and i went down to ferrari and this was their advice for me
00:21:09today
00:21:09crofty uh could be a one-stop race unknown though as we haven't had much hard tire running safety car
00:21:16will
00:21:17lead to a two-stop or if we get grading on the hearts here comes charles leclerc just a bit
00:21:21too
00:21:21far back and almost going into the back of his teammate who slowed down to almost a standstill it
00:21:28looked like as we were riding on board i take it they didn't talk about that in their strategy as
00:21:33well two cars almost hitting each other okay no no they certainly might try something different uh and
00:21:37try and put mercedes into a territory they don't want to go but yes safety car will lead to a
00:21:41two-stop
00:21:42or if we get graining on hard so they very much thought about that two-stop uh esteban ocon has
00:21:48got a 10 second time penalty for causing a collision with franco colopinto yeah such a shame for
00:21:55colopinto because he has been driving a an excellent race today i thought very mature race and
00:22:02like that that wasn't his fault at all uh so he came out of the pits there speaking of that
00:22:07tire
00:22:07grain i can just see a very narrow band on the left front of charles leclerc's hard tire and that's
00:22:16going to be hurting in corners like this one here in turn eight so it just causes a bit of
00:22:20extra
00:22:21understeer you start rolling around on the rubber itself i think hamilton's been doing a better job
00:22:26of looking after his tires and you can see that actually is a great shot good comparison as the two
00:22:31cars coming towards us as much as we love the wheel to wheel racing here at ferrari these points
00:22:38are important yeah um from melbourne they had a third and fourth as it stands at the moment they're
00:22:44looking pretty good for a third and fourth again bearman is a long way behind at some stage do you
00:22:50call off the fight just to protect this this three and four and make sure that there's no coming together
00:22:57or they don't throw away anything unnecessarily i mean you i think you've got to let them race but
00:23:03race fairly and i think you've got to trust both of your drivers and so far you know they've been
00:23:09very close they were yesterday as well i think they take things right to the edge we know what
00:23:14hamilton is capable of in that regard he's got a great sense of awareness of cars around him and i
00:23:20think
00:23:20leclerc does too and if i was fred faster and everyone at ferrari i would have to let my two
00:23:26race and and and put the trust in them just watching the battery graphics there with charles
00:23:31leclerc with that overtake that extra half a megajoule he's almost he's down about three percent
00:23:36by the time he gets into turn one hamilton about 25 percent that that's what you're talking about you
00:23:41you've got that at your disposal but you are going to use so much more of your energy in using
00:23:47that
00:23:48overtake that you might pay for it later in the lap it allows you the main thing with the overtake
00:23:54is
00:23:54the fact that you can have a higher by regulation you're allowed a higher top speed and that if you
00:24:02so wish to use it use your boost button to get you to that higher top speed that's really where
00:24:08you can
00:24:08make huge gains on the car in front but it will come up with a price because it's not the
00:24:13best way
00:24:14to for lap time that you will have a slower lap time because of it as your race leader kimmy
00:24:19antonelli
00:24:19just heading down towards the hairpin we haven't seen much of him because he's been so far out in
00:24:23front just under seven seconds the gap now to george russell who continually lap after lap
00:24:28sets new fastest laps then there's this battle hamilton and leclerc for third and fourth and the long
00:24:34gap then back to ollie behrman running in fifth max verstappen runs sixth ahead of pierre gasly
00:24:40at liam lawson and isaac hadjar but carlos science currently in the one remaining points position
00:24:46for williams and given the start to the season that williams have had to come away from china with a
00:24:52point actually will be cause for for a lot of a lot of smiles down at grove on this of
00:24:58course the
00:24:58anniversary of carlos science uh debut in formula one same race in australia as max verstappen 11
00:25:05years ago we have lost albon and portoleto we didn't see either of those two nor norris and piastri
00:25:12before the start here we've lost stroll and we've lost alonso who's been talking to the media uh in
00:25:19the interview area saying that he was starting to lose feeling in his hands the vibrations on his car
00:25:25was so severe he was just starting to lose feeling hence he came in and retired the car
00:25:31they go aston martin to japan and honda's home track next time out hoping for some upgrades to
00:25:37give their drivers more feeling less vibrations and maybe a chance to get to the end of the race which
00:25:42they haven't done so far this season i think leclerc is thinking about making a move on hamilton down into
00:25:47turn 14 this time around crofty made an adjustment in steering wheel through turn seven and turn eight as
00:25:53the ferrari crew look at the potential new set of tires to go on to at least one of their
00:25:58cars here
00:25:59comes leclerc let's see what he does they they've got enough of a gap so it's a pit hamilton and
00:26:04leclerc and stay out ahead of ollie bearman you called it and charlotte claire looks like he's
00:26:10delivered it anthony davidson into the hairpin charlotte claire goes past lewis hamilton who i think
00:26:16saw it coming and he's now trying to fight his way back and he's just going to lose out going
00:26:21into the
00:26:22final corner charlotte claire back up into third place now it's a well-planned move by leclerc what's
00:26:29hamilton going to do in towards turn one he's naturally going to be faster he's gaining he's
00:26:33but not quite gaining enough but as the corner then evolves hamilton can continue his momentum
00:26:39and he's got charlotte claire back leclerc used the the battery power at his disposal but in doing so
00:26:46left himself vulnerable into turn one and that's why lewis hamilton got back ahead but now charl de
00:26:52claire on the run down to the next heavy braking zone might fanciest chances of a crossover here
00:26:57the old switcheroo as they sometimes call it but hamilton stays ahead as they sometimes call it as you
00:27:05round turn seven they go and this is one thing i like about these new regulations is that you can
00:27:10follow so much closer through corners like this it just opens up the opportunity to have a go somewhere
00:27:16else on the track meanwhile isaac hadjar is right on the tail of liam lawson in the racing of balls
00:27:26hadjar who's been on his tires for 29 laps and lawson has been on them for 30 laps and we're
00:27:32going to see
00:27:32some more pit stops in this race i wonder what have we got here hamilton with the overtake at his
00:27:39disposal just more energy because going through the detection point on this lap he would have been
00:27:46behind charlotte claire so that overtake remains with him for the whole of the lap so that helps
00:27:52him in defense not let his early overtake because the newest car to lewis hamilton is uh what around
00:27:58about uh 10 seconds ahead and it will be charlotte claire that gets that uh overtake mode active just now
00:28:06because he's within that second meanwhile uh russell has been gradually closing in on kimmy antonelli it
00:28:13was i will look at it looked at it at the time when he got past the last right so
00:28:17the claire it was
00:28:187.8 seconds it's now down to 6.3 yeah he was chipping away two tenths uh a lap he
00:28:25took half a second out
00:28:26the last lap but i think antonelli has had to get past both peres and bottas and who have the
00:28:32blue flags
00:28:32being waved at them ted kravitz hello hello crofty you mentioned the ferrari mechanics looking at some
00:28:38tires no sign of any of that they're just thinking if there is a safety car you never know what
00:28:43might
00:28:43happen everything needs to be ready just to underline how much this means to hamilton this p3 crofty
00:28:49of course he had the china sprint win last year he had a podium as well but they were disqualified
00:28:54from
00:28:54that weren't they and then since then no ferrari podium still for hamilton so that's what it means
00:29:01for him to hang on to this p3 his tires are starting to open up with the graining he is
00:29:07reporting understeer
00:29:08so uh we'll see how that one goes as for arvid lindblad two secs ted
00:29:13blood is actually quite different i'm glad a bit more positive than this time yesterday yeah
00:29:20so it might be a case of last lap lindblad because he's still on the same set of hard tires
00:29:27they're
00:29:27going for a massive tire offset to carlos sainz ahead of them a safety car period with a cheaper pit
00:29:33stop
00:29:33would be nice but i think they're preparing at racing bulls to bring lindblad in and then it's
00:29:38going to be a big charge to try and nick that final point of carlos sainz's williams he's done
00:29:43it hasn't he 15 laps to go and he started talking about can lewis hamilton get his first podium for
00:29:49ferrari i was going to give it to be fair and at least another 10 laps i do not want
00:29:53to be accused
00:29:54of the commentator's curse on this one yeah we've been waiting over a year to see if lewis hamilton
00:30:00can stand on a grand prix podium in a ferrari red racing overall still quite a long way to go
00:30:07here
00:30:08the trouble for ferrari is that you've got bearman 18.8 seconds back and that's well within obviously
00:30:15the striking distance if ferrari were to do another stop they'll have to work their way past multiple
00:30:21cars on their new tires if they do go for that two-stop strategy so uh bearman like bernie said
00:30:27they're driving a phenomenal race and he's had a great dice with the alpines now he's in front of
00:30:32verstappen who's 2.7 seconds behind him so but there's a long way to go for the ferraris yeah i
00:30:40think i i agree with that yeah hamilton's really driven a strong race here and cared for his tires
00:30:45very well i think now that's paying dividends there's your race leader kimmy antonelli
00:30:52well that was russell sorry your race second george russell who was lapping the uh the two
00:30:57cadillacs marbles on either side of the track look if they get to the end of this race uh doing
00:31:03a
00:31:04one-stopper and 46 laps on the hard once again and i know the tie compounds have got a little
00:31:09bit harder
00:31:09this year and that's a phenomenal effort here in shanghai but if that tire just gets to that cliff
00:31:15that cliff of grip because the compound itself is only well around about half a centimeter thick
00:31:22so as you wear down the gauge of that compound you get dangerously close to
00:31:27that thinning out you can reach the cliff of grip
00:31:33yeah copy so i mentioned that he was lapping the two cadillacs george russell's now had to lap the two
00:31:39cadillacs and that advantage about half a second on the previous lap now russell's you know he lost
00:31:45that time to kimmy antonelli so it's back up to about seven and a half seconds yeah it's almost as
00:31:51if russell's had a harder time getting past those cadillacs than than antonelli did so yeah i said it
00:31:58before and i'll say it again antonelli a really solid drive so far today and he's he's in a good
00:32:04place right now uh you know mentally as well i can tell you he's frustrated by the traffic but he's
00:32:11not he's not worried by it so he's just passing on i think that message was passing on to bono
00:32:16saying
00:32:17don't worry about the gap potentially coming down with me and george i'm only losing this time due
00:32:22to the traffic he called his career best finish with the second place in melbourne kimmy antonelli which
00:32:27was his third podium in the last five grand prix and he got a second in the sao paulo sprint
00:32:34in
00:32:34that time as well for a man who struggled in the middle part of last year he's starting to really
00:32:39show his potential and is uh well bounded to pole yesterday youngest grand prix pole sitter
00:32:46and just like sebastian fettel the previous record holder as uh outcomes arvid limblad just like the
00:32:54previous record holder looks like he's going to celebrate claiming that record by going on to
00:32:59take the grand prix win as well hulkenberg meanwhile on the track trying to get some overtaking done in
00:33:04the uh audi that looked uh pretty good esteban ocon is now behind him uh and ocon with that 10
00:33:10second
00:33:11time penalty don't forget uh to serve potentially at the end of this race right benny collins to you
00:33:17yeah i was just going to come in there you've seen antonelli trying to make his way past the back
00:33:21markers and ant davidson had already mentioned about the marbles off track that's actually quite
00:33:26dangerous for these leaders they have to go offline they run out into the marbles as they're going past
00:33:32these blue flags it's not for the car that's a lap down to move on to that dirty stuff so
00:33:38on these very
00:33:39warren hard tires there's always a risk at this end of the stage this stage of the base with those
00:33:44left
00:33:45cars and you can see that both mercedes making their way past his lap cars that gap is opening
00:33:50and closing ever so slightly the ferrari tire still looks good to me i think that will make it to
00:33:56the
00:33:56end of the race they just need to be on top of now what they're doing under received car and
00:34:00like i
00:34:01said i think for the majority of the field out there apart from those that have just stopped onto the
00:34:05medium tire you would need to take that for a fresh set to the end so we've got the battle
00:34:10predictive
00:34:11battle uh 4-6 between max verstappen and pierre gasly verstappen might still have his sights set on
00:34:19ollie bearman but bearman's maintaining that advantage at about 2.2 seconds and has done for
00:34:24the last few laps as antonelli now bangs in the fastest lap of the race yeah so antonelli
00:34:30proving what we thought earlier on that he still does have plenty of juice left in these tires and
00:34:36he's got the speed to more than match his teammate i was half expecting you know russell just to
00:34:42steadily chip away and cruise up to the back of him but it was the traffic that was doing most
00:34:47of the
00:34:47damage problem is like bernie was saying when you get onto the marbles and you've got quite old tires
00:34:51it seems to pick up the marbles even more as the tire starts to cool down and it loses that
00:34:57gauge
00:34:57that i was talking about the tire actually starts to cool down and then it seems to get affected even
00:35:03worse by the marbles and you run around on someone else's rolled rubber for a stage a couple of corners
00:35:10and it takes almost half a lap to shed that off so you can get back to your rubber again
00:35:15so it's starting
00:35:16to get to that tricky stage with just over 10 laps to go of this race where the drivers really
00:35:22have
00:35:22to start working and concentrating on minimizing mistakes which can so easily happen in these cars
00:35:28with a lot less downforce than last year so we're watching kimmy antonelli uh in the box on the left
00:35:33hand side of your screen jack villeneuve as uh charles de claire uh is the latest to uh lap sergio
00:35:39perez jack villeneuve is saying that we've not seen kimmy antonelli out in front of a grand prix we've
00:35:44seen some great performances from him but he's been making his way through the field and it'll be
00:35:49interesting to see how he copes oh is max verstappen going a lot slower than you would expect
00:35:54it looks like he is oh no oh for max for tappen it's going to be a retirement
00:36:00his first ever retirement here in shanghai now can he though get the car home he's got power
00:36:07and these these are teething troubles in the early stages for red bull powertrains and they've done an
00:36:14impressive job to get this engine uh built from scratch at their their new facility in milton keynes
00:36:21but they had an issue with the power units in australia that caused isaac hadja to retire
00:36:27and it could be a power unit issue for max verstappen here could be a battery issue it could be
00:36:34hydraulics
00:36:35we don't know but it's certainly another mechanical issue for max verstappen and there'll be many
00:36:41drivers and teams hoping that he can in fact make it back down pit road because if there's a late
00:36:48safety car here you're going to see frantic action with pretty much everyone having to come in
00:36:55with uh just 10 laps to go looks like he does have enough momentum and power just about to get
00:37:01back into the pits there's your race leader kimmy antonelli lapping max verstappen who kept very much
00:37:07out of the way and very respectfully out of the way too carlos science moves up in the ninth place
00:37:13color pinto back up into the points let's have a listen on board with the full-time champion
00:37:28oh and then the whole dashboard's turned off so is that electrics hydraulics electrics yeah yeah so it
00:37:35all went blank for a moment then it came back on again so you saw the red lights uh flashing
00:37:40verstappens made his way back to the pits lap 46 of the chinese grand prix he retires while he retires
00:37:48on this the anniversary of his f1 debut 11 years to the day kimmy antonelli puts in the fastest lap
00:37:55of the race he is showing that he can keep very cool and very composed in the lead of a
00:38:01grand prix very
00:38:02impressive stuff by the young italian very impressive indeed he's opened that gap up to his teammate
00:38:088.7 seconds now so over a second ahead he's gained from the moment that russell overtake took this man
00:38:16on
00:38:16screen charlotte claire let's head down to as max verstappen gets out of his red bull car as massive
00:38:26disappointment for him team apologized to him after a sprint qualifying uh they've been at pains to say
00:38:32that we uh it will get better but there are you know issues that need addressing uh down at red
00:38:38bull
00:38:38and reliability uh very much a problem too let's head down to the interview area uh we lost
00:38:45we've lost i should say six drivers from this race one of them didn't start
00:38:49he is oscar piastri he's talking to rachel brooks
00:38:54oh oscar i mean you got further this time
00:38:57the last time um when were you aware of the issue did it happen back to the grid or was
00:39:04it once you were
00:39:04there no it was once i got out of the car um yeah not exactly sure what it is we
00:39:11just know it's an
00:39:11electrical issue on the pu side so disappointing and different to the one lando had the team have
00:39:18said yes um it does give you a chance to see what others are doing right now in the race
00:39:25and where
00:39:25they're deploying i mean it's been a while since i've watched two f1 races from from the sidelines so
00:39:32yeah the ferraris look pretty quick at the moment but we'll see how long that lasts for all right
00:39:37thanks oscar thank you oscar piastri while we were sorry esteban occam while we're hearing from oscar
00:39:44piastri has come in to serve his penalty he served his penalty and they're trying to
00:39:51get something away from the front suspension maybe he's picked something up no it was from the incident
00:39:56wasn't it yeah so i think it was the barge board that had come loose as a bit of metal
00:40:00that was
00:40:01sticking out that holds that barge board in place so uh yeah probably for safety they've had to look
00:40:07like a pair of bolt cutters that they're using to take that off but they're very un f1 what it
00:40:14needed
00:40:14was a bigger hammer in there as well um the mount we talked about the state of the marbles you
00:40:20can see
00:40:21the state of the marbles from the uh the white uh trim on the ferrari and lewis hamilton's uh yellow
00:40:27helmets yeah they're really starting to suffer this late on in the grand prix and i didn't think it
00:40:34would be possible yeah i thought it was overly ambitious to run these tires for as long as they
00:40:39have but they've all committed to it and that's testament to the learning they had yesterday all the
00:40:44drivers learning how to drive around this very punishing racetrack
00:40:50drive of the day closes in six laps i am expecting a landslide today but you never know ted kravitz
00:40:58uh who oscar piastri and anna norris alex alban gabriel borskler yeah they're patients yes
00:41:04patience over there you go to all of those it's kimmy antonelli how tell me tell us how you vote
00:41:09and how
00:41:09you vote and i'll do it right uh what's going to go on with the last points paying position well
00:41:14franco
00:41:14colopinto is actually catching color science very very quickly you said this it looks like
00:41:20no i thought i thought linblad oh right would uh would actually manage to close up to science
00:41:24but uh that's really affected them quite badly because hulkenberg is also quite quick on the new
00:41:29ish medium tire so linblad looks like isn't going to challenge but it looks like colopinto is going to
00:41:35catch that williams very quick okay thanks ever so much ted i'll give you credit for uh the predictions
00:41:40there highest place finish in a grand prix kimmy antonelli as i mentioned a few about 20 laps ago
00:41:45was their second last time out and he's odds on to go one better i don't know anthony davidson you've
00:41:53driven races and you've won them um on your way to becoming a world champion in in in weck is
00:41:59this the
00:41:59start of the relaxation period is this the bit where you start to think about the win or is this
00:42:05the bit
00:42:05where you hear every single noise on the car and think no no no what's wrong now yeah you know
00:42:10he had
00:42:12issues in even on his qualifying lap yesterday uh george russell obviously had issues on on his
00:42:17during qualifying and nobody's immune to reliability especially this early on in the new regulations and
00:42:25cars so they would have seen and been fully aware the fact that two mclarens didn't even make the race
00:42:32today and fully aware of their own team's vulnerabilities as well so yes you very much
00:42:38are enjoying the moment because it's a beautiful place to be leading a grand prix with over nine
00:42:44seconds over your closest competitor and that gap continues to grow you're in the flow it's it's
00:42:51amazing everything just works you're in the zone you're it's like the zone it's like being an autopilot
00:42:56things just happen and you're just so at one with the car it is beautiful but at the same time
00:43:03you're
00:43:04ever so worried about the mechanical reliability of all of your equipment and there's bono his race
00:43:11engineer he knows what it's like to win a grand prix or two that great relationship with lewis hamilton
00:43:15over the years and this looks like the start of yet another successful winning partnership with another
00:43:22driver the car that's been lapped there by the way is franco colopinto colopinto closing in on
00:43:28carlos science george russell struggling with his rear tires and we're on board with our race leader
00:43:35now that's carlos science just ahead verdi collins to you yeah i was just going to come in there that
00:43:41message that george russell give the pit wall will not have allowed bono any rest because they've
00:43:47obviously pitted on the same lap crafting and george russell's now suddenly three tenths a lap
00:43:51off the pace so with still five laps to go in this race are these tires and this very very
00:43:58long stint
00:43:59going to be okay it's a big question mark they're still lapping faster than the ferraris and what do
00:44:05you think you've had a good look at the uh the front left there which is normally the limiting factor
00:44:10around here yeah it's it you could just see on the inside shoulder it having picked up the marbles they
00:44:15move to the inside shoulder and get flicked away as he goes through that long right hander as we see
00:44:21the alpine working its way past the uh past the cadillac that new team on the grid
00:44:30well done that i almost forgot but no i won't oh is this a slow moving site just making way
00:44:38for
00:44:38science making way do you know what current votes that 22 antonetti 19 hamilton 10
00:44:43percent color pinso yeah but come on bearman's got to be in there as well no what a what a
00:44:48cracking
00:44:48race he's driven today gaslin's driven well also so many drivers have really really impressed today
00:44:55but i do think no more so than kimmy antonelli the pressure he's had such a young driver he's had
00:45:03george
00:45:03russell right there look there he is on screen he's been hounding him the whole race pretty much
00:45:09but antonelli in a fair fight has pulled away more than two and a half seconds now to his more
00:45:16experienced teammate george russell with his rear tires going through the first two parts of lap 51
00:45:23was four tenths faster than kimmy antonelli it stayed four tenths faster the gap now at nine seconds i mean
00:45:31george russell is is a fine driver he has got a big margin to make up but if the tires
00:45:36are going off
00:45:37you know it will keep kimmy antonelli and pete bonington you know on the edge of their seats
00:45:43i see what he did there he did he did have the advantage though didn't he kimmy of seeing the
00:45:48fight
00:45:49happen behind him with the two ferraris and his teammate russell and at that point he could just drive
00:45:55to the tire he didn't over stress it over slide it and the last time we rode on board with
00:46:02him at least i
00:46:02could see that he was just driving a car as much on rails as he possibly could not over sliding
00:46:08which
00:46:09to be fair he is often guilty of so he's he's learning he's adapting the whole time and and this
00:46:16is a very important it's a valuable day for kimmy antonelli today he would have learned more in this
00:46:22race than maybe he did half the season last year in his own ability and that confidence you get from
00:46:29having put together a race like this today it goes such a long way certainly does uh maybe lapping
00:46:34colopinto and science might have slowed him down a bit there's no sign of antonelli slowing down and
00:46:41george russell making uh making uh inroads into his advantage on this lap another lock up there from
00:46:47charlotte claire he has put some punishment over the 41 laps through those tires yeah i think um yeah he
00:46:54he he has punished him too much he he really enjoyed he said it's his own word he really enjoyed
00:46:59the fight not just with george but his own teammate as well and now sits 3.8 seconds behind hamilton
00:47:05and uh that might be a result of you know there's that extra tire wear that he's got i picked
00:47:10up the
00:47:10fact he had more his tires looked a little bit unhappy earlier on and there's nothing he can do at
00:47:16this
00:47:16stage hamilton he's driven he's driven the better race in terms of that a to b stint you had to
00:47:23do
00:47:23on the on this long stint on the hard tires so he he was as always with lewis thinking more
00:47:29about the
00:47:29long game and uh and he knows better than most out there better than anyone how to to get the
00:47:36best out
00:47:36of his tires in in that stage so yeah leclerc gave it a good go and they committed to that
00:47:42one stopper
00:47:42six wins for lewis hamilton here in shanghai go back to 2013 for the last time he finished third here
00:47:49he is on course for a 10th podium finish here in shanghai that's that's a circuit record no other
00:47:55driver uh has done 10. this could be one of the most special podiums of his 203 podium career the
00:48:05first four ferrari signed for ferrari wanting to to lead the scooter rear uh to good times and better
00:48:14times in the future this is going to mean so much to him that is kimmy antonelli who's gone off
00:48:19at the
00:48:19hairpin so kimmy antonelli with a nine and a half second leads seemingly comfortable out in front has
00:48:27had a lock up has managed to keep going and that gap now will come down even more to about
00:48:33seven and a
00:48:34half seconds he doesn't want to do that again three laps to go see what happened here then see no
00:48:39traffic
00:48:39around him we've already seen a massive lock up from leclerc as we know things are getting tricky yeah
00:48:44and it's as easy as that the crowd you can hear in the background in disbelief as they see the
00:48:50race
00:48:50leader go off the circuit leclerc did it like before and this is starting to get very tough for all
00:48:56the
00:48:56drivers keep your heads together kimmy antonelli that nine second lead now down to 7.4 okay give me
00:49:03three laps remaining so let's just get this thing home and that's where i love this relationship between
00:49:10the the multiple championship and race winning engineer peter bonington and this young protégé he
00:49:18has such raw talent but obviously he comes with uh some excitement yeah at points and that and and that's
00:49:27kimmy needs someone like bono right now he's as deadpan as they come in this situation is bono and that
00:49:33you're right that's exactly what you need charles leclerc is also having lock-up incidents as well he's been
00:49:39told just you know just calm ease you know antonelli could could ease off by about a second and a
00:49:44half
00:49:44a lap here and still win this quite comfortably but it's when you start easing off other problems
00:49:50arise as a result but he's much more cautious into turn 14 this time around and this is where
00:49:56a more experienced driver property wouldn't know just to win say like alan prosto yeah where you just
00:50:04have to win the race you don't have to keep pulling away from your rivals the entire time and really
00:50:09prove a point senna was guilty of it in monaco that day is famously crashed before the tunnel
00:50:15wanting to prove that point and you know racing drivers are sensitive souls and they want the ego
00:50:22they want to flatter that and at all times be faster than their competition but that's bono just saying
00:50:28you've done a brilliant job bring it home no heroics meanwhile there is a battle going on for ninth place
00:50:35out here kimmy antonelli's got to bring it home he's got a lap and a half uh to go just
00:50:39over five
00:50:40miles colopinto is chasing down carlos science a little bit further behind science is really starting
00:50:47to struggle 44 laps on those tires 21 laps on the medium for franco colopinto that's going right to the
00:50:54line
00:50:54hamilton has a three and a half second gap back to charles leclerc as he hunts down his first podium
00:51:00for ferrari ollie bearman who finished seventh in the opening grand prix of the season is on to finish
00:51:05fifth for has here where they finished last year with esteban ocon pierre gasly picking up uh eight
00:51:11points currently at four alpine in sixth place liam lawson another decent weekend uh for the racing bulls
00:51:19holding off isaac hadjar he's in seventh hadjar and the one remaining red bull is eight science ahead
00:51:25of color pinto hulkenberg a bit too far back to get involved on that charles leclerc has now just put
00:51:31in
00:51:31the fastest first sector where does that come from uh on this latest lap and kimmy antonelli is about to
00:51:39start his final lap of this chinese grand prix a chinese grand prix where he came knowing he's in the
00:51:48dominant car where if he just keeps his head there's a chance at least of a front row and he's
00:51:53gone one
00:51:54better than that and he's got that pole position and he has survived some skirmishes in the opening
00:51:59stages of this race to go and stretch his advantage out in front and to lead this race the safety
00:52:05car
00:52:05offered them an option to come and pit 45 laps ago his dad is watching the screens he is pacing
00:52:12around
00:52:12he is as nervous as nervous can be and he has been with kimmy antonelli all the way through his
00:52:18career
00:52:19and a racer himself as well so he knows full well what it's like to lead a race to win
00:52:25a race but not
00:52:26a formula one race this is the big one this uh i mean i expected antonelli to win races this
00:52:34season
00:52:34i i really thought he would i thought he'd get pole positions did i expect it in round two
00:52:40not necessarily he's surprised me colopinto going through turn 10 is right on the tail of carlos
00:52:45signs coming out of turn 13 a lap ahead kimmy antonelli has one straight corner one straight corner
00:52:53checkered flag to go last time an italian driver started on pole position giancarlo
00:53:00fissi keller back in 2007 at spa he didn't win that day but a driver called kimmy did we've had
00:53:08an
00:53:08italian starting on pole sliding out of the penultimate corner we're going to get an italian driver
00:53:14winning here forza italia kimmy antonelli for the first time in formula one wins a grand prix
00:53:21it is victory in shanghai for the young man who at the age of 19 and 200 days 202 days
00:53:31is on top of the world right here and toto wolf celebrating with his dad in the garage george russell
00:53:39comes home it's a mercedes one two and stands for lewis hamilton who will stand on the podium as a
00:53:46ferrari driver for the first time third place here in shanghai 10th podium at this circuit on mother's
00:53:54day his mom is here to see lewis on the podium for the first time with the scooter here charles
00:54:01claire comes home in fourth place ollie bearman is a long long way uh behind but ahead of pierre gasly
00:54:08and will take will very much take that fifth place and a brilliant job by him today as well
00:54:17yes come on my son
00:54:24well done there mate first race win this is one you're going to remember forever man
00:54:33nice words from from bono there and what a drive it has been from kimmy antone not easy you know
00:54:39he's
00:54:40had to fend off a seven-time world champion hot in his heels at the start of the race and
00:54:45the threat
00:54:46from ferrari at the start he got that race start that he wanted a brilliant day so behind bearman gasly
00:54:53six lawson seventh hajar eight and that battle for ninth is still going on colopinto is going wheel to
00:55:00wheel down the back straight with carlos sainz driver of the day is kimmy antonelli franco colopinto
00:55:08hasn't been in the point since baku in 2024 he's not scored points for alpine he's gonna get a point
00:55:16today or will it be two because that is still carrying on no he's good racing out there today
00:55:30there are they were both laps and the graphic didn't say the jack of flags i thought they were
00:55:36still racing now well done louis sorry the race clever smart as we wanted thank you fantastic job
00:55:44fantastic job guys really well done really cool for the hard work i'm gonna keep up keep pushing
00:55:51back at marinello we've got work to do but i believe in you let's keep pushing for the ferrari thank
00:55:57you
00:55:59clever smart indeed yeah it was it was one of his finer races i think and you know what's on
00:56:05lewis hamilton's side this year crofty he's got his qualifying performance back uh thank you everyone
00:56:11thank you so much you you made me achieve one of my dreams thank you and he's allowed to come
00:56:20and
00:56:20park his mercedes uh on the grid uh here sainz holds off colopinto then they they finished a lap down
00:56:29when uh kimmy crossed the line uh hulkenberg just missing out on the points out of limblad botas ocon
00:56:34perez and we lost verstappen alonzo stroll piastri norris bought a letter and album from this race
00:56:41that kimmy antonelli is shaking his head maybe in stunned disbelief trying to take it all in
00:56:47uh i love the fact he's got lewis hamilton just off to his left hand side as well the man
00:56:52that's
00:56:52been there seen it and done it all in the world of formula one and i think i think you
00:56:58know there'll
00:56:58be an appreciation on both sides there there it is that's the moment
00:57:09we wondered was he gonna get a good start he got a decent start today the ferraris came at him
00:57:15and
00:57:16he had to bide his time a little bit and now he can celebrate with his crew he's such a
00:57:22likable
00:57:22character as well and it's just a little glimpse into that character on the exit of turn 14 crofty
00:57:28where he lit the wheels up on the final he's he's loved by the team and you can see why
00:57:35full of energy
00:57:36he's brought this this this huge amount of energy to the team there's his dad as a racing team the
00:57:43racer
00:57:43himself has his own racing team kimmy famously uh memorizes lap times doesn't he and his lap times
00:57:51i dare say he's got another 56 to try and remember at four today but this is superb and toto
00:57:57wolf
00:57:58could have brought him when lewis hamilton left could have brought in to the mercedes stable a more
00:58:03experienced driver that could have got wins straight away but no he said i've got faith in
00:58:09this man i've got faith in antonelli he is a superstar of the future spotted in in go-karts
00:58:16could see the talent there and many people would testify to that and that's a good embrace between
00:58:22the teammates and they've got a long championship fight probably ahead of them this year but the
00:58:28competition ferrari then they're the closest at the moment and they're not that far away as george was
00:58:35saying earlier on the reddit they're fast in all the wrong places if they can be fasted yeah for
00:58:40mercedes if they can be fast in the right places too for their sake they're right there yeah mclaren
00:58:46have got work to do electrical issues today and different electrical issues meant that norris and
00:58:52piastri couldn't start this race and look at that lewis is over to give big hugs not just to give
00:58:58me
00:58:59antonelli but his old mate bono as well and i think he'll enjoy even more the fact that he can
00:59:04share a
00:59:05podium with kimmy and with bono and his first time there and lewis's first time for ferrari
00:59:15i wonder who will spray him the hardest with the champagne coffee
00:59:19lewis gets a well done from toto wolf there as well it's 26 grand prix for the team
00:59:28and lewis gets that third place charlie claire still hasn't finished on the podium at chinese
00:59:34grand prix by the way uh this today uh he he went past kimmy raikkonen for the second most starts
00:59:39in
00:59:39ferrari history and this man well that's a man that i think will get a few starts for ferrari in
00:59:45the future as well that's another really mature drive from ollie behrman today it really was i loved
00:59:51watching him race he's been fast all weekend he was in melbourne as well and i think the future is
00:59:58is very bright for that young lad
