00:00...season as the Celtics play host to Michael Porter Jr. and the Brooklyn Nets.
00:04Second meeting in a row, and we tip it next.
00:22This is the Emirates NBA Cup.
00:25And this is a brand-new court at TD Garden as the Celtics play their third game of group play.
00:32Tonight, it's another one against the Brooklyn Nets, who they beat by 14 in Brooklyn on Tuesday.
00:37We can't wait to watch it with you.
00:38Alongside Brian Scalabrini and Abby Chin, I'm Drew Carter.
00:41And, Scal, we knew that Derek White and Peyton Pritchard would be in a bit of a different role this season.
00:45Now they're settling in.
00:46Yeah, I really think they are.
00:47But some things don't change, like Peyton Pritchard and Derek White having to pick it up on the defensive end.
00:53That responsibility doesn't change.
00:55But there are some things that we are seeing.
00:57More playmaking responsibility.
00:59Derek White's doing a great job getting to the paint, getting people involved.
01:01And I think Pritchard, the last couple games, has really found his way.
01:05Go back to over-reliable.
01:06We need these guys to knock down threes.
01:08But also, they need to be able to score the ball.
01:11One-on-one situation.
01:13Peyton Pritchard getting to the paint.
01:15Or D. White attacking off a pin down.
01:17These guys are starting to come into their own.
01:19I think they're really loving their new roles.
01:51All right, Coach.
01:56Two-game series.
01:57Back-to-back.
01:57You don't have to prepare for any team in between.
01:59Do you like those?
02:00Yeah.
02:01I mean, I think it's a good opportunity to focus on the most important things.
02:05It's obviously, regardless of the win or loss, there's things you can get better at.
02:07You know, coming into tonight's game, again, they had 20 turnovers.
02:10They had 22 points off transition in the first half, you know, mainly because of those turnovers.
02:14And so, I want to clean that up.
02:16At the same time, can you find, you know, a couple things that you want to adjust to and, you know, be ready for.
02:22Jalen Brown mentioned he played terrible in the first half.
02:24That's why he only played 10 minutes.
02:25You don't really see that a lot from star players where their playing time is necessarily affected by how they're playing.
02:31What did you see in the first half and then how did you get him to bounce back or was anything said for him in the second half?
02:37What separates great players is their ability to bounce back to who they are quickly.
02:40Sometimes it takes people one game, two games, three games.
02:43Guys like Jalen, it takes less than a half.
02:44And so, I think that's the teaching point, you know, especially for some of our guys is you're not always going to play perfect,
02:49but how quickly can you get back to being at your best?
02:51And, you know, Jalen's one of those guys that can do it quickly.
02:53Last one for me, the cup, right?
02:55At what point do you start to think about point differential or whatever in this particular game?
03:02At the point when you need to.
03:03And when is that?
03:04You'll just know.
03:05I mean, I think, you know, at the end of the day, it's a regular season game.
03:08If the game presents an opportunity to pay attention to it, you pay attention to it.
03:11But, you know, more importantly, we've got to be ready to go, you know, in a game.
03:15All right.
03:15Thanks, Joe.
03:16Thanks.
03:16All right, everybody.
03:17Grab your popcorn Friday night.
03:18The Garden, new floor, cup game.
03:22Buckle up.
03:22Here we go.
03:25When the game's on the line, like, I don't know, just in the moments that you kind of dream about.
03:36Nice pass to White.
03:38He casts the three.
03:40I mean, it just goes back to our defense and taking care of the ball.
03:43We sharpened up those two things, and it led to a lot of great things on offense for us.
03:47Hauser with the steal.
03:49Kata, how about that?
03:50We just got to keep getting better.
03:52Can't be satisfied with anything, and it's a big stretch for us.
03:55We got to get this one on Friday, so that's the main focus.
03:57We got to keep this going, and, you know, just every game's going to be a battle.
04:03It is all about the cup.
04:06Here are the starting lineups brought to you by Jordan's Furniture.
04:08Experience the difference.
04:10Same five for both teams from that game Tuesday in Brooklyn for the Celtics.
04:14This group, number one in the NBA in defensive rating, number three in net rating among five-man lineups that have played at least 40 minutes.
04:21Key matchup presented by Subaru of New England.
04:23Fall in love with a brand-new all-wheel drive Subaru.
04:26A lot of Jalen Brown in the second half.
04:28He finished with 29.
04:30Michael Porter Jr. impressed me.
04:31I thought he would struggle not having a guy like Jokic on his team.
04:34Still can knock down those shots.
04:36He's putting up big numbers at 6'10".
04:40There you look at the green court for the Emirates NBA Cup.
04:43As we check the health report by South Coast Health, providing exceptional care from people who care.
04:50Celtics healthy aside from Tatum.
04:51Cam Thomas still out for the Nets.
04:54Running it back from Tuesday in Brooklyn when the Celtics beat the Nets 113-99.
05:00But this is a cup game, Drew, and we have to crush.
05:03Where we're sitting right now, I don't know if it has to be something around a 20-point win.
05:08We won't know the answer until next Friday, but it's all said and done.
05:13But we've got to have a great game if we have any aspirations to make it to the playoffs.
05:20Good start defensively, forcing a turnover.
05:23White loops it up for Jalen Brown.
05:26Good position on the young Noah Clowney.
05:28Good start for JB.
05:30JB did a good job of protecting that ball when Clowney went to reach for it.
05:35Jalen Brown only played 10 minutes in the first half Tuesday.
05:39He said after the game he played like blank, like you know what.
05:43He played 22 of the 24 minutes in the second half.
05:47Dominated the third quarter, helped the Celtics run away.
05:50Not even close on his first three.
05:53As the Nets come the other direction, Brooklyn comes in 2-12.
05:56Only two wins against the two teams below them in the standings in the East.
06:00As Porter challenges Cade, a good defense from Mimi.
06:03The Nets have beaten the Pacers and the Wizards.
06:06That's it.
06:07Brown the Euro.
06:11Here comes Claxton.
06:13Can't play it in with his dominant left hand.
06:16Terrence Mann on a triple.
06:18Goes hurt.
06:19That's second chance opportunity.
06:21In transition.
06:22Wide open three for Terrence Mann.
06:25Yeah, the game Tuesday was kind of weird.
06:27The Nets outscored the Celtics in the fast break, 22-0 in the first half.
06:32In the second half, it was 8-2 in favor of the Seas.
06:34But Brooklyn's typically not a great team in fast break.
06:38Here's Jalen against the rookie, Yegor Dioman.
06:41On the step through and the dump to Cade.
06:43Smoked the layup.
06:43Got it back.
06:45Rebound down to Dioman.
06:4615 years old from Russia.
06:48Man on the drive.
06:50Oh, yeah!
06:50Cade, Claxton the cleanup.
06:52And he's fouled by Nemi.
06:54Good job by Cade hustling back.
06:56He's got to secure those rebounds.
07:00Watch Cade on this play.
07:02Good job by Walsh.
07:03Not fouling Cade.
07:04Get it out.
07:06It goes right back to the Nets.
07:11Remember, Cade and Claxton got tangled up early.
07:14As you look at Jordy Fernandez, second year as Brooklyn's head coach,
07:16he coached Cade in Sacramento.
07:19When Jordy Fernandez was on that staff, as Claxton puts it in,
07:22but he says he's not surprised by Cade's success now,
07:25starting with the Celtics,
07:26and he's always taken great ownership on the defensive end.
07:31He's not surprised?
07:33Why didn't they ever play him then?
07:34Why'd they wave him?
07:36They waved him.
07:37They could use him right now.
07:38When you wave him, you're thinking,
07:39yo, he could definitely be the starting center for the Celtics.
07:41I'm not surprised by that.
07:43I don't think Jordy was making those decisions.
07:45Hey, Jordy's keeping it 99.
07:48Because he's lying sometimes.
07:49And this team's got to deal with Cade tonight.
07:53Brooklyn on top by three.
07:54Brown the drive and the kick.
07:58In the corner, it's Pritchard.
07:59He's smoking hot lately.
08:02Claxton the rebound.
08:03Celtics have missed their first three shots from downtown.
08:06They're one for seven overall.
08:10And that's 0-7 at home.
08:13Including the loss to the Celtics Tuesday.
08:14They're 2-5 on the road.
08:16Dioman.
08:18Oh, that was tough.
08:19And he played through Jordan Walsh's hand check.
08:22That's a big sign for a rookie.
08:24Eighth pick in the draft this year.
08:26First of five first-rounders by the Nets, which was an NBA record.
08:31Cadeau all the way.
08:33He tried to punch it on Claxton, and then got it back.
08:36Cadeau look like Dr. J.
08:37Oh, yeah.
08:39Statue of Liberty style.
08:43Brown trying to pull the chair.
08:45Called for the foul.
08:46Brandon Schwab makes that call.
08:48Yeah, the best part about this play is he didn't hesitate at all.
08:51Look at him just elevate.
08:52Oh, Statue of Liberty misses it, but sticks with it.
08:57I like this play by Geoman.
09:00Keeps the ball away from the defense.
09:02Shows off the sweet touch.
09:04He's a keeper.
09:05Him and Clowney, for sure, are keepers.
09:07I don't know how many other guys they had.
09:10Those guys are good.
09:12Here's Mann, the Massachusetts native, into Claxton.
09:15The off-right-hand push shot goes.
09:18But how about the one-and-dones they've had at BYU the last couple years?
09:21Yeah.
09:22Yegor DeOman and A.J. DeBonson now.
09:25Could they be paying big bucks?
09:27Yes, they are.
09:28Walsh with space.
09:29Cash is out for three.
09:31Huge shot.
09:32We know Jordan Walsh did everything so well.
09:34He consistently knocked down that three would be a problem.
09:39Celtics' first downtown hit tonight.
09:44Porter doesn't need much space.
09:47In the paint.
09:50Man the skip.
09:51DeOman has White fly by.
09:54And the rookie knocks it down.
09:56He's good.
09:59First Russian-born player in the league since Timofey Mozgov.
10:04Walsh will try another.
10:07Man hesitated just a bit.
10:08He's got to be confident with that shot.
10:12Yeah, no question.
10:14You've got to know what you're going to do before that ball comes to you.
10:17Claxton off to a good start.
10:19He's got six points.
10:21And the Nets, an early seven-point lead.
10:247.30 to play.
10:25Timeout.
10:25Here's to the doers presented by Honeydew.
10:28Fuel your day with festive favorites.
10:30Former teammates and roommates in the Spanish Pro League.
10:34Ugo Gonzalez and Yegor Yeoman facing off against each other tonight.
10:39Both first-round draft picks.
10:40But at just 19 years old, have the presence of NBA veterans on the court.
10:45I got a chance to speak with Yegor when we were in Brooklyn.
10:47And he told me when he arrived in Madrid at 15 years old,
10:51it was Ugo who took him under his wing.
10:53Yegor said he didn't speak hardly any Spanish, very little English.
10:58And it was Ugo who was trying to translate for him
11:00because the coaches only spoke in Spanish.
11:02Now speaking with Yegor, he is phenomenal in English and Spanish.
11:07The Russian native.
11:08But did you know that Ugo went to play for Real Madrid
11:12when he was just nine years old?
11:15The two played together for three years.
11:17And Yegor says there was a lot more put on Ugo offensively
11:22when they were teammates.
11:23But he said Ugo was always a nightmare to play against defensively.
11:27As we have seen, and he said his motor is on a different level.
11:31Yeah, I mean, Ugo Gonzalez started playing with Real Madrid when he was nine.
11:35Is the new Jason Tatum's only 19 years old?
11:39That's...
11:39Because that's unbelievable.
11:42And we're going to remind you of that.
11:43Wait, not for real? That's true?
11:45That's when he got in the program, nine years old.
11:47So he left his home at nine years old?
11:49How did they scout nine-year-olds?
11:51That's what you need.
11:52You need to scout nine-year-olds for Team White Mom?
11:55No, I'm just saying, like, you moved out of your house at nine?
11:59I don't know about that.
12:00I got to find...
12:01He's from Madrid, so...
12:03So he stayed home.
12:05I did, okay.
12:06That's different.
12:07Does that like Yegor?
12:07Yeah, back from Russia at nine.
12:10How about Jalen Brown from the corner?
12:12Jalen Brown's eaten up.
12:19Now Yegor.
12:22Another offensive rebound for the Mets.
12:24They're a plus on the glass early.
12:26Noah Clowney, the crossover.
12:32Missed the three.
12:33Rebound down to Walsh.
12:38Brown with seven points already.
12:40Fouled by Clowney on the drive.
12:42First foul against Brooklyn tonight.
12:44As long as we have good spacing, we're going to be just fine against this team.
12:48But we've got to space the floor right.
12:50Jalen Brown on the ISO.
12:51Look at that room to work.
12:54Jalen Brown's going to be in good shape if he has that much space on the floor.
13:01Anthony Simons checks in.
13:02He had 11 points Tuesday at Barclays Center.
13:05As Walsh and White take a seat.
13:08And good to see Simons have another big game.
13:12Ever since that first half 25 ball in Orlando, he's been pretty quiet.
13:19He's got to get a shot within the first minute.
13:21You can't ease into the game as a sixth man.
13:27Hauser also checks in.
13:29Another guy looking to get untracked.
13:31He had a couple threes Tuesday at Brooklyn.
13:34Passed the midway point of the first quarter.
13:36Celtics trailed by four.
13:38There's Simons.
13:38There's the shot.
13:39There's the shot.
13:42Oh, they're fighting over boards.
13:48Oh, they're fighting over boards.
13:51You've got to love that.
13:52Drake Powell, a rookie from North Carolina, missed the three.
13:56Four rebounds for Namiya Shkata.
13:58We've got to go back and listen to that.
13:59Oh, an accident quarter.
14:01Hauser straight on.
14:02Two good shots.
14:06Two guys coming off the bench.
14:11See the Nets.
14:12Not a good defensive rebounding team.
14:15Man creating some space.
14:17Fouls on Simons.
14:19All right, take a look.
14:24He grabs his arm.
14:26Right there.
14:28Can't do that.
14:34Kata takes a seat.
14:35Luka Garza gets his first run tonight.
14:39Luka been playing well lately.
14:40Over 11 points per game in his last five.
14:4422 for 30 from the field.
14:46Here is Porter Jr.
14:48And he can shoot that ball right off the move, huh?
14:51And you can play good defense.
14:52He's 6'10 and he shoots a jumper.
14:55He's a tough cover.
14:58I always give credit to Jokic.
15:00But he's pretty good.
15:03Pritchard going at him.
15:06Simons into Tyrese Martin.
15:09Garza the tap back.
15:11He'll have a third chance.
15:12Kicks it out instead.
15:15And the rebound to Claxton.
15:17Michael Porter not in the area that time.
15:21Gosh dang it, Mike, is what he said last time.
15:24That is a charge on Claxton out of control.
15:26Yeah, good job by Luka Garza.
15:32He knows what's going on.
15:34Look at that.
15:36Perfect.
15:38Luka and his limited action last year for Minnesota led the league in charges drawn per minute.
15:49You think he would take a charge on Anthony Edwards driving baseline in practice?
15:53I don't know about that.
15:54I don't know if he would in practice.
15:57I don't know.
15:58Talk about practice.
16:00Not the game.
16:09Here's Pritchard as the Celtics try to get the Mets defense moving.
16:12Simons punctures the paint.
16:14Kick it out, Hauser.
16:16Porter covers him.
16:18Two to shoot.
16:19Pritchard gets to his spot.
16:21Can't put it in.
16:21Rebound to Zaire Williams.
16:25The beginning of games has not been the issue for Brooklyn.
16:28It's been finishing.
16:31Williams out of control.
16:33Celtics ball.
16:33Celtics ball.
16:33For Jordy Fernandez, his team is in a rebuild mode.
16:45He said doesn't want them to pick up bad habits, and he also thinks there's a difference between losing games and being a loser.
16:53Being a loser is you lose and you don't care.
16:55That's what they're trying to avoid is they're going through this.
16:57They've had some games like that, and Jordy has been really upset.
17:04Garza got it back.
17:05But they played hard against us, and they're playing hard right now.
17:09They're looking to push tempo here.
17:12Martin finds Williams.
17:14Not even close on a three.
17:16Hauser snares the rebound.
17:19Brown three for five shooting.
17:21He's got a team-high seven.
17:23Hauser attacks the closeout.
17:24Finds Pritchard.
17:25Great pass.
17:26And the three is blocked.
17:27I like Hauser doing more than just catching and shooting.
17:31That driving of the closeout without a pump bait, that's what opened up the shot for Peyton Pritchard.
17:36Nice job by Hauser.
17:39Sam's dad is in the house.
17:41Oh, here we go.
17:42Come on, Sam needs to at least get 20.
17:45A contested porter shot.
17:47And the thing is, you know, when the shot's not falling, do some other stuff on the floor.
17:52For sure.
17:52Maybe get yourself going that way.
17:54Brown.
17:55Got the foul.
17:57And that'll take us to the under three media timeout.
18:01Celtics still down four.
18:02Brown to the line when we come back.
18:09Thanksgiving celebration by joining us at TD Garden.
18:12Visit Celtics.com slash ticks to find tickets.
18:16Time now for the FW web assist.
18:17I'm going to show you that Sam Hauser play.
18:19So, in the NBA nowadays, the biggest thing is you want to clear the nail.
18:23That's the defender.
18:24They're right here on the nail.
18:25So, Hauser has to drip.
18:26But watch what happens when Hauser gets it.
18:28He doesn't stop.
18:29He drives the closeout.
18:31I'm not going to shoot that.
18:32A guy can run him off.
18:33But driving the closeout, watch how it compromises the defense.
18:36They're sucked in.
18:37Peyton Pritchard.
18:37Come on.
18:38Is that wide open or what?
18:40Peyton, go ahead and knock it down and give Sam Hauser that FW web assist.
18:45And for assist with plumbing, heating, HVAC, LP gas, and more of the pros go to FW web.
18:50And, Scott, you're always talking about the 45 cut.
18:52Is that a 45 drive?
18:54Does that count?
18:55That's a slot drive.
18:56Slot drive.
18:56Slot drive.
18:57Slot drive.
18:57So, because the guy was on the nail, he had to drift.
19:01So, we were trying to clear the nail.
19:03Hauser drifted to clear the nail, creating a longer closeout.
19:06That's a slot drive to a weak side spray.
19:09You got it?
19:10I'm working on my basketball 101.
19:13I'm like Yegor Dioman learning Spanish from the guy to Real Madrid.
19:18Oh, my gosh.
19:19The lingo.
19:21Jalen Brown off to a solid start.
19:23Nine points in the first quarter.
19:26You see the Celtics still last in the league in free throw differential.
19:29And, they have had the same or fewer free throws than their opponent in all 15 games this season.
19:40Martin, the quick trigger.
19:41Oh, wow.
19:42It's got to be some kind of record, Dick.
19:44Like 15 every game.
19:49Dick's all over.
19:51Here's Pritchard.
19:53Oh.
19:55Man, a flick of the wrist.
19:56Nice play by Jalen Brown.
19:58Same thing.
19:59Dexter loading up that nail.
20:01Jalen Brown is making him pay.
20:03That streak, 15 games, tied for the second longest all-time to start a season.
20:08All-time, all-game or Celtics?
20:10All-time.
20:11Everybody in the history of the NBA.
20:13Yes.
20:14The only team with a longer streak.
20:15Buffalo did it 20 games in a row in 1970.
20:22Brown strength and the fouls on Zyre Williams.
20:25Zyre Williams.
20:25If he's complaining about this, the game might be a little too quick for him.
20:30If you grab his arm.
20:33It's amazing how players don't know what they do.
20:36Look at that.
20:36Can't grab a guy's arm.
20:45If he didn't grab his arm, could that have been an offensive foul?
20:47If he would have went down, probably.
20:49Oh, what a pass.
20:51Hauser to Simons.
20:52There you go.
20:55Sam looking like his favorite quarterback of all time, Brett Favre, in his prime right now.
21:01Dropping these dimes.
21:02Martin rattles it out.
21:12Here's Garza.
21:13Hoist to three.
21:14Hits to three.
21:15Huge.
21:16Huge weapon for this team.
21:18If Garza could be a consistent, above-the-break three-point shooter.
21:23And just like that, the Celtics out in front.
21:26Shootin' five of 12 from downtown now.
21:38Four on the 24 for Williams.
21:41Missed the shot.
21:42Hauser with good defense.
21:46One minute left in the first.
21:47Pritchard, the step-back.
21:50Oh, nasty.
21:52Eight for three.
22:02Defense.
22:04Defense.
22:04Defense.
22:04Defense.
22:05A 9-0 run.
22:06Clowney, a deep three.
22:08Can't silence the fans here at the Garden as the Celtics look to go two for one.
22:13Simons with the rock.
22:15Okay.
22:16And to Garza, he'll take the shot a little too strong.
22:20Thought about maybe kicking that out to Hauser.
22:32They're on Sharp.
22:34Out to Clowney.
22:35He'll try another.
22:36Brown the contest.
22:37Garza the rebound.
22:38The Celtics can hold for one.
22:41And he scored nine points in a row.
22:46Three seconds left for J.B.
22:51Man, they're all over his arm.
22:5419 in the first quarter, fans, with the score.
22:57Trying to be physical.
22:59The Celtics playing through it to the tune of nine straight points to close the first.
23:04A six-point lead for the home team on the green court.
23:09Every point matters in the NBA Cup.
23:15One's applauding Steve Carell, the active native, who's in the house.
23:18Stats by Jason Stone, injury lawyer's official injury law firm of the Boston Celtics.
23:22Injured?
23:23Better phone, Stone.
23:24You see him right there.
23:25It's the threes that are really standing out.
23:27I love that.
23:28Rebound's kind of tied, and Celtics taking care of the ball today.
23:33Yeah, I didn't realize it was Steve Carell.
23:36He introduced himself as Steve.
23:37I'm like, hey, nice to meet you.
23:38What?
23:39You met Steve Carell?
23:40Oh, my God.
23:40You were drooling.
23:42Oh, my God.
23:43It's Steve Carell.
23:44Well, I was going to do that to Bill Chisholm.
23:47Oh, my God.
23:47It's Bill Chisholm.
23:48And then I turned around.
23:49There's Steve Carell.
23:50Great.
23:51Oh.
23:52Fly into the cup.
23:55It's crazy.
23:55You know, they say, act like you've been here before, Drew.
23:59I try to do that most of the time.
24:01Not with Steve Carell, man.
24:03When I see Michael Scott, I'm going fanboy.
24:05I love that show.
24:07That guy's a genius, Steve Carell.
24:10Clowney on the deuce.
24:12And the Nets.
24:14Feels like the Nets, out of timeout, out of the quarter.
24:16They always get, like, a little bit of a bump, and then they kind of lose their way.
24:20Do you attribute that to coaching, Scott?
24:23Like, good coaching.
24:24Can you give Jordy credit for that?
24:26Baylor Shireman in the game got the beat from Keita.
24:28I like that pass from Keita.
24:32Telling everybody, you know, Keita Minot, Jordan Walsh, those guys have the biggest room to grow.
24:41Let's take a look at Drake Powell in transition.
24:46Simon's almost got a little Derek White action.
24:48Here's Porter.
25:07That's the type of shot he can make.
25:10Two guys on him.
25:13He just rises up and fires.
25:17And TJ averaging about 24 points a game per season with Brooklyn.
25:21Look at Keita reading the game out to White.
25:23Missed the three.
25:24And Claxton racking up the rebounds.
25:29That's seven already.
25:30Could have had eight, but TJ stole one.
25:35Clowney for two.
25:36Baylor Shireman cannot allow that to happen.
25:38He's got to stand his ground on that play.
25:40And that's back in front.
25:44Their largest lead was seven.
25:45Celtics' largest was six.
25:49Minot out there to start the second.
25:53White trying to create some space.
25:56Claxton with his eighth rebound.
25:58And the big man right on the floor.
26:00He's got eight points, eight boards.
26:01Early second.
26:02And Porter again.
26:04That thing is wet.
26:06There's nothing you can do with a 6'10 guy shooting the jumper off a handback like that.
26:12It's a long two.
26:14This first one was a three.
26:15I mean, you can play the best defense ever.
26:18The guy can come and make this shot.
26:20You just got to tip your hat to him.
26:24Three.
26:24And in case you couldn't tell by the court, tonight is all about the cup, baby.
26:29This is cup game number three for the Celtics.
26:33And just to remind you, the Emirates NBA Cup means that all 30 teams were divided into six groups, five teams per group.
26:41There are three groups per conference.
26:44And the top teams in each group plus two wild cards will advance into tournament play.
26:49This is a look at the Celtics group atop the table, Detroit and Orlando at 2-0.
26:54And then you see those numbers on the right.
26:55Point differential matters in the tournament.
26:58So, with the Pistons at a plus 27 already, that means the Celtics need to win and win big here tonight and then beat Detroit by a lot on Wednesday, too, to even have a chance to play for the NBA Cup.
27:12The finals, of course, in Las Vegas again this year.
27:14Ooh.
27:15But the prize money, you guys, up to $531,000 for the champs.
27:20Whoa.
27:20Yeah.
27:21Players get $53,000 just for making it to the quarterfinals.
27:24So, there's definitely some incentive here.
27:28Man, what a play by Claxton.
27:30Kata goes up.
27:32Oh, that was Clowney above the rim.
27:35A great play by Clowney who heard Abby say $531,000 and said, let me get up there and block this shot.
27:42Don't worry.
27:43They ain't getting none of that paper.
27:46I mean, how mad are you that this wasn't a thing when you were a player?
27:51Yeah, I would be.
27:52I would.
27:52I mean, I think most guys would like that.
27:57Are you singling me out?
27:58Anybody would want to make a half a million dollars.
28:00You love cheddar.
28:01No, I did.
28:02I like.
28:02I like.
28:03I like motivation.
28:05Like, playing for stuff.
28:06You're right in the face.
28:07Like, when we go home, when we play, we play for five bucks, play for a dollar, play for whatever, shoot for this, shoot for that.
28:14Come on.
28:16I know.
28:17Everybody's motivation.
28:20Simon's.
28:21When the Celtics are getting to the paint and spraying it out, they're getting a lot of wide-open looks.
28:28Nets on this side have started five for five from the floor in the second quarter.
28:36Celtics, for the season's second-best field goal percentage defense in the NBA, tied for second with Miami, only Oklahoma City is better.
28:45It'll stay here with Brooklyn with 14 to shoot.
28:48Celtics' numbers, advanced numbers, are excellent.
28:52Their clutch numbers are not very good.
28:54You take a few of those clutch games, win them, two of them, and all of a sudden now, you know, they're at the top of the East.
29:03The margins are really small.
29:07Only a couple games out of second place in the East, the Celtics, as Claxton sweeps in and misses it, as it stands, 8-7, 10th in the East.
29:16There are a lot of 500 or better teams in the Eastern Conference.
29:20White is fouled.
29:22The East is better because of the ascension of Philly and Atlanta.
29:29Toronto.
29:29Toronto, it made a big difference.
29:30Derek White, watch this play right there.
29:36Oh, he didn't get hit very much, but probably a favorable whistle for D. White.
29:40So, remember when D. White got off to a rocky start to the season and everyone was freaking out?
29:47Seems like he's found his groove here.
29:50Also, the only player in the NBA averaging at least five assists, 1.5 steals, and one block.
29:57Doing Derek White things and shooting the ball better.
30:00Last six games, about 36% from downtown.
30:04Almost 19 points a game.
30:10Okay, coming up tonight after Celtics post-game left, Sarge, I'll catch another edition of Celtics post-up.
30:14Kayla Burton and Chris Forsberg take a look at the lighter side of the seas in the NBA.
30:18It's presented by Eastern Propane and Oil.
30:20Well, they're in your neighborhood.
30:22It's really important.
30:23Hold on, nice job by Minot.
30:25Oh, this is huge.
30:26All alone.
30:29Just like that.
30:30It's important that the top three guys start playing well and start playing well on the same night.
30:35Jordy Fernandez.
30:36He's hot after his team gave up that rebound.
30:38A three-second chance for the YMCA's health and nutrition programs.
30:42By tuning into the Celtics' Instagram and voting for your favorite dunk each week.

30:52Electric Moment.

30:57Happy birthday to our good friend, Cedric Maxwell, who turns 70 years old today.
31:03And for the folks who don't know or don't remember, one of the best Celtics of all time.
31:07Finals MVP in 1981.
31:09Two-time champ with the Seas.
31:11He had that game seven in 1984.
31:13Hop on my back, boys.
31:1524 points, eight boards, eight assists, and two steals.
31:17Finals is number 31, retired by the Celtics in 2003.
31:23And, of course, it's great we get to hang out with Max on the road doing the radio broadcasting for the Celtics.
31:29Happy birthday to one of the best dudes in the league.
31:32Man, he holds court at the back of the plane.
31:34A lot of good stories.
31:36He is the move.
31:37As Claxton is fouled by Keita, and the basket counts.
31:40Right on cue.
31:42Claxton has a little bit of Cedric Maxwell in him.
31:45There's a crossover.
31:46Watch this finish.
31:47Swishing it over to the right hand.
31:49This Keita-Claxton matchup has been good.
31:54And you know how, as you and Frank Isola talk about, every former player podcast is an embellished trip down memory lane.
32:02Nothing embellished about Max.
32:03He keeps it real when he does media.
32:06And he deserves his respect.
32:10Man.
32:10Absolutely.
32:11He's, the hatred between him and the Lakers is real.
32:14It's not fake.
32:16And they don't like him either.
32:17There you go, Keita.
32:18Keita on the ducking for two.
32:20Keita.
32:22Assists to Simons.
32:24His first assist of the night.
32:25Simons passing it well lately.
32:27Clowney for three.
32:29No, Clowney for three.
32:31Again, out of a Nets timeout.
32:35Seems like they have a little rhythm.
32:37Oh!
32:38Clowney, with this whole building, still stunned by that Keita poster.
33:01D. White.
33:07Right back at you.
33:08You're right.
33:09Building had a little bit of a buzz right now.
33:11So he's got to get a stop, though.
33:13These are the moments where this place can pop.
33:18More than five minutes into the second.
33:19Celtics up by just two.
33:22Don't just want to win this game.
33:24Want to win it by a lot.
33:25Stay alive in the cup.
33:28Keita waltz off Claxton for the rebound.
33:30And it's a foul.
33:31On Nick Claxton.
33:34All right.
33:35So earlier, Keita got blocked at the rim.
33:38Watch this one.
33:41Take that witchy.
33:43A little bit of a stare down.
33:49Is this wholesale?
33:51Are we doing wholesale?
33:52Mommy gave him a little.
33:54Hold on.
33:54Hold on.
33:54All five guys?
33:56We are.
33:57One, two, three, four.
33:59Yeah, five.
34:01Well, AAU action here, Joe Mazzoula.
34:04A little hockey style sub.
34:06Oh, man.
34:06We had a group out.
34:07The Grizzlies players are furious that the Celtics just did that.
34:15Five-man self.
34:19Here's Hauser again.
34:21Nice pass.
34:22Brown.
34:23Terrence Mann secures the board.
34:27Terrence Mann secures the board.
34:27J.B. with the good hands.
34:37The steal on Sharp.
34:39Yes, Jalen Brown kept it alive.
34:41Richard Hoist.
34:45Short.
34:47Igor Deolman with the rebound.
34:51Clowney wasting no time.
34:54Sharp puts it back up with the foul on the shot.
34:56Basket doesn't count.
34:58Clowney's tough, man.
35:00On this drive, watch how he owns his space.
35:03Oh, it's a great view.
35:04Takes up more space.
35:05See how Jordan Walsh just kind of backed off him on that hit?
35:09Tough move.
35:11I should know this.
35:13What's his contract situation?
35:15He's a young player.
35:16He's a third-year pro.
35:17First-round pick?
35:18Yes.
35:19Here's a message from FanDuel.
35:23Kicks it out.
35:24Get back.
35:25Puts it up.
35:28Bet all your favorite player props on FanDuel.
35:31All customers choose your own reward today.
35:37I know why you're asking about his contract.
35:40Why?
35:40Because the All-Scout team is trying to trade for him.
35:42They want to see if they can make it work.
35:44No, no, no.
35:44You got to be a little bit better on the team with this.
35:48He's a good player, though.
35:51Here's the 21st pick a couple of years ago out of Alabama.
35:54One and done for Nate Oates.
35:55That's a win.
35:5621st pick.
35:57That good?
35:58That kind of size?
35:58Oh, Jordan Walsh with a finger roll.
36:01Garza collects.
36:03Missed it.
36:03Got it to go.
36:04In the cylinder, though.
36:07Basket doesn't count.
36:10What a workhorse.
36:12Look at Garza.
36:13It's a nice move by Walsh with the left.
36:16Garza's fighting for boards.
36:19Can't believe he missed that one.
36:21And that's in the cylinder.
36:22That's a good look from the dungeon cam.
36:24It's all about the dunk.
36:26How about four offensive rebounds for Luka Garza in seven minutes?
36:30Powell is fouled.
36:33It's on Hauser.
36:35Right hand of Hauser.
36:38Did a good job of keeping that lead hand up.
36:41But the officials saw that.
36:42Good call.
36:44You watch his right hand.
36:45You're probably not going to see it from there.
36:46He's kind of on Drake.
36:50His back.
36:52That was not a bad player either.
36:55He was the 22nd pick in the draft.
36:58Five first-rounders, though, for Brooklyn.
37:00It's hard to get them all minutes.
37:03A couple of them are with their G League team on Long Island.
37:07Jordy Fernandez talked about it before the game today, saying,
37:10you know, you guys are always asking me about how do I play all five first-rounders.
37:14The answer is, I don't know.
37:15It's never been done before.
37:16First team ever to use five first-round picks in the same draft.
37:19After Diomann, who was next?
37:22They were all, like, 20s, right?
37:24Traore, I think, or Seraf.
37:26There were a couple in the late teens, and then they had two in the 20s.
37:30You should have called New Orleans.
37:31They were just giving away stuff for next year.
37:33Man, that could be real bad.
37:36Might have given up a shot at Darren Peterson or AJ Devonts or Cam Boozer.
37:40Oh, Richard, the cross, in the lane for two.
37:49Oh, my gosh.
37:50How about that pitter-patter crossover?
37:54Eight points, P.
37:56Here's Clowney.
38:00Sharp got the bump and the basket.
38:02Got to get all over this glass.
38:14Cars is in the air.
38:19Rebounds, rebounds, rebounds.
38:21And the Nets already in the bonus.
38:27Almost five minutes to play until halftime.
38:31They're on Sharp, another former first-round pick, 20-21.
38:44And he completes the three-point play.
38:48Game's been back and forth.
38:51Celtics trying to stay in the hunt for a spot in the NBA Cup knockout round.
38:57There's one team per group, and then a wild-card spot.
39:01Four teams from each conference make it.
39:03Garza's foul.
39:05Free throw's coming for Luka Garza.
39:07Yeah, nice play from Jalen Brown.
39:09This is the next step in his evolution as a superstar.
39:14Running pick and roll, finding guys.
39:16That read, it takes thousands of reps of coming off the screen, reading the second defender, the third defender,
39:26reading your guys, who's cutting, who's spacing, who's drifting.
39:29Game leaders, brought to you by Arbella Insurance, here for New England, here for good.
39:41Pritchard with 11 points to match the number on his jersey.
39:44Only Celtic in double figures.
39:46Nets have two with at least 10.
39:48Clowney and Claxton, who are both on the bench as we speak.
39:57And Scott, when you're coming off that pick and roll, do you think these guys, are they trying to move the defenders with their eyes and their movement?
40:02I don't know.
40:04I don't know what those guys are doing.
40:06I know the best in the world are staring at the defenders and reading the defense.
40:11But it takes time for that to happen.
40:14Oh, Simons, get busy.
40:17He's a former dunk contest champ.
40:19And he goes with a traditional one-hand punch.
40:25It's getting loud here.
40:27Offensive foul on JB.
40:41Yeah, they eventually got him.
40:43He's been using that arm, but they've been grabbing the arm.
40:45This time, Terrence Mann goes down.
40:50I mean, he didn't get knocked over.
40:54He just went down, took a fall.
40:56Simons with the steal.
40:58Finishes it off.
41:063.56 to play in the half.
41:09Kata replaces Garza.
41:14There's that full court pressure from Simons, just killing some clock before the Nets get into their set.
41:20Diomans finds Powell, fakes the pass, takes the shot, hits it.
41:26Good play by Diomans.
41:28He drew three guys at the rim.
41:29Made the right play, kicking it out.
41:36That's on the season, about 33% from deep, one of the worst marks in the league.
41:40Kata sprays it.
41:42D-White sticks it.
41:43That's the adjustment the Celtics are making.
41:45They're not setting those high ball screens because of all the turnovers in the last game.
41:49They're kind of ghosting that screen.
41:52The Celtics turned it over 20 times Tuesday, a season high for the team that's best in the league in protecting the ball.
42:05Three minutes left in the second quarter.
42:08We're tied at 51.
42:12Another ghost screen.
42:14Brown finds Kata in the paint.
42:17Finds White.
42:18There's Claxton again, just a little out of control, but it works for him.
42:31Got the foul on Kata, his third.
42:35Here comes Garza back in.
42:38Claxton playing really well, showing off his handle.
42:41Kata's just got to be smarter than that.
42:43Can't make that foul.
42:49Claxton about 71% from the line.
42:55Here's a message from our sister station, NBC10 Boston.
42:59Hey Celtics fans, I hope you can join me, Colton, and Pete weeknight at 11.
43:03We'll get you caught up on the biggest news headlines and weather only on NBC10 Boston, news worthy of you.
43:09Nick Claxton is one rebound away from a double-double.
43:13In the first half, it would be the first time in his career he's done that.
43:18He's got 11 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.
43:21MPJ didn't steal that rebound.
43:26Someone's got to have that clipped up.
43:27Oh, I need that clipped, dude.
43:30With the sound and everything, I need that clipped.
43:33Your boy, Mello, from NBC, he had the best one when he was going up for the rebound.
43:38What did he say?
43:39I can't repeat it.
43:40Okay.
43:40I'll tell you during the break.
43:41I'll ask Mello.
43:42Yeah, you can ask Mello.
43:43I'll see him on Monday.
43:44Yeah.
43:54Brown defends Clowney.
43:57Yeoman right back to Clowney.
43:59Off the mark on a three.
44:01JB with his fifth rebound.
44:03He's got nine points and three assists.
44:04Dancing with Claxton rises up.
44:17Yeoman finds Porter.
44:18I was wrong about MPJ, man.
44:24I thought he was going to struggle here.
44:25He's doing really well.
44:27And Yeoman, he's got lasers.
44:29He's Clowney and Garza.
44:33All good.
44:34Fouls on Noah Clowney.
44:38You're filling out your Michael Porter Jr. apology form?
44:41No, not yet.
44:42I mean, they are 2-12.
44:43I mean, he did win a championship.
44:45And him and Jokic, he was a net rating one year with Jokic.
44:48Plus 16.
44:50I get it.
44:51It's Jokic.
44:51I kind of gave Jokic all the credit, but he could shoot that thing.
44:54So you give Jokic like 15 points of credit and MPJ is responsible for one.
44:58He hit that one.
44:592.9.
45:02A lot of contact out top.
45:04No whistle.
45:05White with five to shoot.
45:07Over the top of Clowney.
45:10Out of bounds.
45:11Top of the backboard.
45:14Joe Mazzoula wants an explanation for why there was no foul.
45:17And D. White was wrestling at the top of the key.
45:30Yeoman.
45:32Got it back.
45:33He's tough.
45:35Pretty good, especially for a 19-year-old.
45:37This is like the Jordy Fernandez's team I was expecting.
45:40Like the scrappiness.
45:43They haven't been like that at the start of the year, but they are like that now.
45:47Oh, man, that's such a nice flop, right?
45:52No, I mean, we extended.
45:55You'll see.
45:56He extended the arm.
45:57You can use your shoulder.
45:59You can't extend your arm.
46:00Watch.
46:01You can't do that.
46:02You can step into a guy.
46:03You can keep your arm steady, but you can't push, extend that arm out.
46:08Joe Mazzoula going small here.
46:106-0 run for the Nets.
46:22Minot at the 5.
46:24Out there with Simons, Pritchard, White, and Brown for the final minute of the second.
46:29Now, Claxton gets the call.
46:35And he will head to the line.
46:41Third foul on JB.
46:44And Claxton after all the shooting two.
46:46Joe Mazzoula's team on a three-game win streak.
46:59Memphis Clippers Nets.
47:01And they need to win this game.
47:04It's because it sets up next week.
47:06Big, big week next week for the Seas.

47:34Jamie Pickerstaff's doing a great job with that group.
47:36First place in the East.
47:41Celtics currently 10th, but flattens out a lot once he gets to second place.
47:48Trying to go two for one.
47:50White finds Brown.
47:52They'll drive.
47:53Goes up with Clowney and scores.
47:56The power, the strength, and the touch.
47:59Great combination.
48:01JB into double figures with 11.
48:04Five-point lead for Brooklyn.
48:06Porter walled off.
48:08De'Oman got Brown in the air.
48:10Challenges Minot.
48:11Remember, they're playing small.
48:14So Minot protecting the rim.
48:15And Yegor De'Oman has nine points, five rebounds, four assists.
48:24Minot gave it up.
48:26De'Oman the steal.
48:29Clowney gets two.
48:31Joe Muzula's not going to like this.
48:33He wants to finish quarters strong.
48:34Am I not?
48:40Too strong off the window.
48:44Frustrating finish to the second quarter for the Celtics.
48:49They're in a nine-point hole at halftime.

49:39Nets playing way above their head.
49:40And I think that we will be either tied or ahead by the seven-minute mark of the third.
49:45Like, we're going to make a run coming out of here.
49:47There's no way they can sustain what they're doing, the Nets.
49:49Well, they're playing hard and they are playing well.
49:52Let's check in with Abby Chin.
49:53What did you hear at halftime?
49:54Well, speaking with assistant coach Tony Dobbins, he said,
